This really highlights the differences in giving birth in the United States vs most of the rest of the world. Women here in the US are usually on their backs for much of our labor. We usually give birth on our back. This is all for the doctors convenience. We are also not allowed to eat or drink anything while in labor, not even water. We can have small ice chips, but just enough to keep our mouth from getting dry.

If Caesarean section is under a spinal or epidural, not allowing mum to eat and drink for 18 hours, is unacceptable and needs changing. Mums needs to be hydrated and have energy to push.

Wow I delivered at one of the supposedly best hospitals in our State and all 4 of my labors they basically left me on my back in the bed the whole time and it was a nightmare ...smh

Same here! The US is highest* in maternity healthcare costs by far and we are also #1 in maternity deaths out of all the developed countries. It took me 3 months to heal because I tore up to my clitoris (more like the doctors tore me up). I couldn't work, and the US is also the only developed country without maternity leave.

Look how the world nurses are way more hands on and attentive. The midwife model of care makes so much of a difference. Look how they gave birth squatting and on all 4 and the quality of care. They show upright position

We don't have that kind of support during delivery in public hospitals . Don't know why we can't have anyone in the delivery room.
