Mankind can be so selfish and selfless
That's the cruelest part of this game. Making a choice no one should ever have to. Sacrifice everyone's life or sacrifice the one life that makes yours worth living for.
It's like they left it in there intentionally, which i find it a nice touch and brings back nostalgia how slow, chunky and thrashy everytime Nier fights.
People who have only have played automata, I feel sorry for them lol this is way better, automata was good most of the stories are touching and all but replicant,.. lol hands down (automata didn’t have the same impact replicant did )
Maybe you are right, I played nier automata and I was very shocked by the thought of existentialism but nier replicant makes me think that if you want to protect what you love, even if it means sending the world to the trash, I would do it, which makes me think about: make a decision and accept the consequences whether they are good or bad. nier replicant maybe it will impact me more, maybe after all I have not played it but I plan to do it.
I found NieR replicant to be really shallow compared to automata. and not just storywise. replicant has width, but lacks depth. automata has deeper ideas and themes that give the game more to present to the player. this also gives the player more to reflect on and contemplate in return. NieR replicant was just sad. but NieR:Automata was sad AND depressing. replicant lacks entirely in the existential horror and existential 3-way mirror aspect that automata Excells at. on top of that, 2B and 9S have a significantly better fleshed out relationship than the characters relationships of replicant, especially in the romance aspect of 2B and 9S vs NieR and kaine. the relationship is the entire character focus of 2B and 9S, but for Nier and kaine, it's a minor, very minor detail that suddenly gets brought to the forefront without much being expanded upon prior to its sudden importance. replicant is a much smaller scale, down to earth game in its portrayal and experience. there's no grander message to read into, no out-of-game mental jump ropes and hurdles. it's just about the characters. automata is about the characters too, but it uses those characters to also nail into the players heart "bigger" questions and pains. you not only have to deal with the characters suffering and sadness, but you also have your own dreadful existential crisis boiling under your skin, and you can relate it to the characters struggle to justify their existence too. I called automata a 3-way mirror before. what I meant by that is that, the player, the main characters/androids, and the machines can all look into each other. the machines and androids obsess relentlessly with humanity, and are constantly fighting each other and realizing how similar each other are. humanity (the player) is constantly observing the state of world that these beings that obsess over us live in, and how they perceive us and each other. all 3 individual groups are observing all 3 groups at once existentially, and each group reflects on their own existence and the other 2 groups existence as a result. replicant doesn't have that. replicant just has the player observing the written story. and like I said, while replicant inflicts sadness, so does automata, but automata also has depression stacked on top of it.
@@MonsteRNieR oh well. Both are objectively phenomenal. Automata is what resonated with me the most. It's good that both games see appreciation from people.
Sucks how the Shadowlord was actually trying to save humanity and the death of the Shadowlord actually caused the Human Race to go extinct and that's why Nier Automata happened, our character is an idiot but it's not like they knew the whole story anyways. But it honestly makes the main character seem like a psychopathic killer since everyone you have been killing is the orginial humans lol.
I think Shadowlord's goal was to save his sister, not exactly humanity. And I don't think replicant Nier wan an idiot. He is similar to Joel from TLOU.
@@TheAlin1213 his goal was both his sister and humanity it was already explained what his goals were and more of it was explained in Nier Automata that Nier knew and volunteered for the project that's why he was so protected. All the Shades were connected to him and thats why with his death caused the death of humanity. I forgot what the project was called. It's been a while.
I don't know how you can call MC an idiot or psychopath since he didn't know shit about the whole thing about Replicants and Shadows. Devola and Popola explained him this very vague But it's not important. The main thing is that replicants have gained self-awareness. So why the hell they supposed to sucrifice themselfs for humans? I am not even talking that before this whole reveal about Replicants and Geshtalts, for Nier they were just Shadows - an enemy basically. I am not sure you can call him a psychopath. Yeah, this is sad that humans extinct because of chain of unlucky events, but it's not Replicants mistake for sure
I feel like what's tragic about brother nier and sister yonah is both of them being thrown into a world of cruelty, when they're both only children. You see Nier having to grow up faster and take all that responsibility, when he himself is lost in all of that, and that includes both the replicant and gestalt Niers. One of the side stories that precedes the game depicts how he struggled to find money for an effective medicine to help Yonah, and he had to sell his body to an older man who was also violent...and that's just one example. He became completely devoted to his sister, but had to pay heavy prices. I recommand the drama Cds as well, they depict a part of gestalt Nier/Shadowlord''s past, and the life in general of humans after ending E of Drakengard, but before project gestalt was fully initiated. It wasn't pretty.
@@johnhogan8327 As an older sibling, I never thought siblings owed each other nothing, so it's an interesting point of view. Always thought that if something happened to our family (or even in general), I'd take care of my brother, but I guess it's far from universal.
I honestly am not a fan of Kaine helping in the first phase. To me, this is easily the most personal fight in the game, making it a 2 v 1 isnt fair. I mean, the Shadowlord is literally fighting himself here. Its a heart wrenching fight of two who are also one with a specific goal, yet it conflicts so greatly with the other.
Yeah. They are gestalts, the embodiment of extracted human soul outside of their body to save their life from incurable epidemic that'll erase humanity. They are the real human, they waited for the epidemic to vanish. The replicants are just body that lost it's host, but somehow, after so much time passed, they became sentient

Will you show all the endings? So much death at the end. Lol So as I understand, Shades are kind of spirits that can possess people to become "whole" but there seems to ve a clash of consciousness so even if theyre possessed two souls exist?
No. Shades are the souls of true humans split from their bodies during Project Gestalt. The Project aimed to allow humanity to survive the White Chlorination Syndrome by splitting the souls (the Gestalts, or Shades) from the body and crafting a new body for it that is resistant to the disease, called a Replicant, which is what you play as. However, as the Gestalt and its Replicant body are linked, and the people behind Project Gestalt didn't expect Replicants to gain souls of their own, whenever a Replicant develops its own soul, its Gestalt-turned-Shade goes berserk, and the Replicant will eventually contract the Black Scrawl. When the Shadowlord put Gestalt Yonah into Replicant Yonah's body, the soul of Replicant Yonah was stuck inside and begging to get out and see her brother.
@@gabrielb.2695 Nier's Gestalt (the Shadowlord) was also the Original Gestalt, the guy who kept the few stable remaining Gestalts from relapsing. Without him, all the Gestalts eventually relapsed, and humanity died to the black scrawl.
Devola/Popola mentioned wanting to wait for another round of bodies, but Shadowlord got impatient and wanted Yonah back right away. So it was possible to get them the body they wanted. It feels more gut retching to think of a father failing to protect his child. This story is dark either way.
Same, i always found the father/daughter dynamic alot more heartbreaking.
Okay yeah, that's cool and all... When we gettin' a fully remade Drakengard? Caim demands bloodshed.
The last mankind hope and the boy who condemned it.
Somehow I blame nier and not, he in his egoist ways kills a lot of people, because he didnt try to understand others, even the shades or what they were, when popola and devola told him the truth, he didnt even care, he did what he wanted, he doomed mankind and the androids. He will will be remembered as the man who destroyed the world, but I understand, what would you do for someone you trully love, how far would you go to save them?, I had been in that place, to be know and remembered as the villian, anything to protect the ones close to you heart.
Mankind can be so selfish and selfless
And Popola and Devola ( who didn’t even want to fight him) were blamed and bullied for it..
@@MonsteRNieR tbh both popolla and devola deal with this mess poorly.
Honestly, there are no heroes and villains in Nier, just people fighting for what they believe in. One person’s hero is another person’s villain.
That's the cruelest part of this game. Making a choice no one should ever have to. Sacrifice everyone's life or sacrifice the one life that makes yours worth living for.
Nier couldn't understand the shades, but kaine could through the being in her (forget it's name)
Her death and him screaming no gets me every time idk why
Glory for mankind, who played god out of desperation and died a silent death.
So what happens at the 8:20 cutscene? Seems really sudden and then all of a sudden the shadowlord’s at the end of the hall
Probably Weiss sacrificed himself to hold down the shadowlord
Shadowlord moves just exactly in ps3 🙃
Lol yeah, it's kinda funny that his running animation looks so outdated compared to the player.
It's like they left it in there intentionally, which i find it a nice touch and brings back nostalgia how slow, chunky and thrashy everytime Nier fights.
@@daene277 I was actually glad they kept his fighting the same, extra nostalgia kick

@@crisxx3521 do it dude, you won’t regret. Wait to hear Emil’s, kaine popola and devola, Louise stories and many others
@@trevorveillette8415 Your arguments are completely valid, I just think replicant is the best game out there period…

Devola and Popola explained him this very vague
But it's not important.
@@TheAlin1213 Tbh I found Joel to be a psychopathic idiot too.
Lol yes i definitely agree
Dad and daughter Neir still makes me feel much sadder than brother and sister neir
Brother nier fits the story more
The duty a father has to his daughter is readily apparent. Siblings owe each other nothing. Both make for powerful stories
@@johnhogan8327 As an older sibling, I never thought siblings owed each other nothing, so it's an interesting point of view. Always thought that if something happened to our family (or even in general), I'd take care of my brother, but I guess it's far from universal.
@@anomitas in some ways, but in other ways father NieR fits better
I honestly am not a fan of Kaine helping in the first phase. To me, this is easily the most personal fight in the game, making it a 2 v 1 isnt fair. I mean, the Shadowlord is literally fighting himself here. Its a heart wrenching fight of two who are also one with a specific goal, yet it conflicts so greatly with the other.
This boss just hits so much harder than anything in Automata.
I've enemies NO , they're all friendly. 4:45

Plot twis: shadowlord is chacracter we played in the beginning of the game. And all shades are real human
Yeah. They are gestalts, the embodiment of extracted human soul outside of their body to save their life from incurable epidemic that'll erase humanity. They are the real human, they waited for the epidemic to vanish.

Will you show all the endings? So much death at the end. Lol
So as I understand, Shades are kind of spirits that can possess people to become "whole" but there seems to ve a clash of consciousness so even if theyre possessed two souls exist?
@@UltimaPhoenix-dx3kt And I wish all that juicy lore was in the game and not in a Japanese art book.
Devola/Popola mentioned wanting to wait for another round of bodies, but Shadowlord got impatient and wanted Yonah back right away. So it was possible to get them the body they wanted. Unfortunately, this replicant Nier got too strong for his own good.
