- The engineer of a New York, Susquehanna & Western freight reduces his speed just a bit while southbound in Clayville NY on April 30, 2024 to make sure there is enough clearance between his train and a red VW Beetle, a/k/a "Bug," which was parked a tad close to the tracks along Railroad Street. Spoiler alert: no Bugs were squished in the making of this video.
Also included are street-running scenes from Utica's Schuyler Street and a studious Witold reviewing a New York State statute book on Railroad Law.
Good write up. Good to see Witold. Watching from south of Central Ohio. ❤️🙏
Another cool catch! THANKS!
Thanks for sharing the great Street Running GP40-2 and GP 38-2 power! Watching from Maine on CSX New acquisition into Northern New England!
If I ever move again, it'll be to a town where the railroad runs through. Thanks for the video.
Have always wondered about the paved over RR ties
Witold steels the show, as always. Hertfordshire UK.
Congratulation to Ethan on the promotion to engineer
Thanks! I’ve actually been an engineer for about 6 years. I just prefer conducting!
@@emazz54 What's it like knowing that 27K subscribers are watching your every move from all across the world.(You conduct those bugles very well, by the way).
Great Film 😁
Hi, from Northumberland, East Coast of England. Thanks for posting. I liked seeing the by-gone era photo compared to present day. Good to see the two Geeps working like this.
Watching from Clinton NY. Thanks for posting these great rail videos.
Great craftsmanship on that retaining wall and as always thanks for those comparison shots. I see the town rated a Pneumatic gate however no one was Goofy enough to leave a horse and wagon Trackside. The paper joint got one of the newest boxcars out there that being the second GTW boxcar and I wonder if in an earlier life the SOO covered Hopper ever delivered malt to the brewery. Witold's bold yawn made my day. Pacing your actions for the day is #Job 1
It's funny, everything time I have a question for you, you answer it before I can print it out 😂😂😂😂😂. But that's OK. Glad Witold is studying hard. He looks so serious lol. Great video!
Hi from York, England! Good to see signs of Spring in the countryside, and interesting to hear about the construction of the on-street trackage. I guess it would be a big job if it ever needed to be replaced, but I'm sure Witold would be able to help with his knowledge of the legal aspects. The new camera certainly gets good results!
I always enjoy your videos! Always something new to learn about the railroad. And seeing Witold just makes my day!
Watching from Castleton, NY
One of my favorite railroads, Western Maryland....and then watching Susie Q, we're on to a winner! 👍🏻👌🏻👏🏻🤜🏻🤛🏻
Two longs, a short, and a long - coming to a road crossing!
I always listen for those.
Beautifully clear and crisp video!
Witold is one smart dog, reading up on railroad law. He didn't even need glasses!
It was nice that the precipitation didn't get the camera wet.
Watching from Rome, NY.
These videos are absolutely outstanding just for the horn on 3040
The Clayville then & now shots are great; thanks Doug E & Rambler. Looks like that rock wall is less than 105 years old.
Also, interesting that the track under the street is basically ancient technology, just paved over. 40-50 years since last inspection and it looks pretty good. I guess some things they got right the first time.
3:50 It looks exactly like a streetcar track. However, a heavy freight train passes through here.
Watching from North Carolina 😊great job. Thanks to you and Witold
Good job Witold!!
What a difference your new camera makes-images are now startingly clear, with improved sound and color quality as well. Fantastic
That dog lives better than a medieval King.
An just doesnt seem to care..😂
Hey Rambler! Loved that before picture of Railroad Street. That old stone wall still survives! Hello again from your subscriber who plows for Town of Lee
Let's hope there'll be no more plowing for a few months at least!
Another good video , im sure Witold will pass the Bar exam and get offered a job as an attorney with the NYS&W
Wow! Kickass camera there! Agree on the horn. Very sharp clear with good dynamics. I used to live right next to the Soo Line near Chicago years ago and "record" the trains with a Sony Stereo cassette machine. My goal was to get a good enough recording that when played back through my cheap ole stereo, it would sound like the train was actually there! LOL. Fun times.
Nice catches
Best wishes from Tonawanda NY! The Susquehanna puts on one fine show on the old Lackawanna’s Utica branch here’s hoping they will revive the line to Norwich perhaps all the way to Bingo…
About the audio in the beginning, was that man suggesting that the ties will rot and the rails will collapse? i love this street train. Its so very interesting, Thanks!
Well, eventually the ties will have to be replaced. They're inspected regularly and I expect they are in decent shape. Wooden ties can last many years depending on many factors; there are some ties on the Utica line that were installed in 1950 (they put date nails in the center of ties back then). I've even seen some ties on the Adirondack RR with date nails from the 1920s. There's been a big tie replacement project ongoing on the Utica line to Sangerfield (23 miles south of Utica) over the past several years.
Love Street running
It still looks like winter up there with just the slightest bit of green leaves starting to pop.
Very cool video and enjoyed watching. Have a wonderful rest of your week.(Steve)
Hey rail rambler. Cool story about scyler St and old picture of clayville crossing . Doug Ellison is a cool guy. People should not park that close to tracks. 🤦
Another fine video from Okeechobee Florida!! See you soon.
5/2/24 speeder cars are gathering in Remsen !
Hello to Railroad Rambler & Witold 😄 what is that,a bug? Thanks again for a great video. 👏👏👏
Fab filming with your new gadget, sorry I'm a technophobe! Railroad Street is lovely. The red car was parked a bit close to the tracks! No way would I park there. Amazing how close you get to the train to film. Thanks to you & Witold. 😊👍
Yep she goes over by Home Depot turn off. Other end is by Matt's brewery.
Nice video!❤ Where do the cars go down to on the Utica? Is it a customer in Sangerfield? How often do they go down there?
Cars go to Louis J Gale & Son in Waterville and to the two big feed mills on Rt 20 in Sangerfield. Lately, they’ve been making the run south almost everyday M-F
Keep ``vito ? `` in the car - it's raining out there. Only us railfans stay out in the rain.
