You are so kind and encouraging in working with these ladies who have bought non-refundable gowns hoping they will fit. And you manage to make their dreams come true and are modest about it! ALL praise! ❤❤❤
I don't understand buying dresses for a special occasion, that typically costly, online. Even if you find the dress at a discount online, you should go into a store and try it on to make sure it looks good/fits. Most stores do not require you to purchase anything from their store. At most there is a fitting fee & that has to be less than a last minute tailor appointment that requires this genius to rig up something spectacular.
Honestly the things that are available in stores are limited, I hate being in retail environments, even if you don’t have to buy anything there’s social pressure, and if you are not “traditionally” sized or shaped you end up going up and down the sizes and styles looking for just ANYTHING that fits, regardless of if you like the style, and end up just discouraged that the fashion industry thinks you shouldn’t exist while having to prop up the feelings of everyone who’s helping you. If it’s not going to fit and needs altered anyway, why not buy something you like if you have a supportive tailor/seamstress who will get it to a place where you can wear it? It’s essentially the more affordable version of having something custom made. The only thing it hurts is the wedding industrial complex, so long as the tailors are making sure to charge you what they’re worth.
Honestly ppl are gonna keep buying stuff online and keep buying things that arnt made for their bodies. If it looks good on a size 2 then it may not look good on someone plus size bc the pattern wasn't changed to match your measurements. They just don't wanna shop their body. My mother was plus size and got a beautiful wedding dress off fashion nova the plus sized part of the site for her 30th vow renewal. Only needed the straps shortened by like an inch and the hem pulled up about 4 inches. It was a hard pill for her to swallow being a s-m most of her life but as soon as she started to shop her body she felt a lot more confident in her clothes. And you can find the same styles for plus size you just may need to look specifically for it and sometimes a little harder than you would for the "average" sizes s-l. I don't get why these ppl don't buy large and then get it altered smaller for them bc that would be the best idea. If you are a size 16 buy a 20 or larger to ensure there's enough fabric to alter it larger or smaller. Bc you can always make a bigger dress smaller you can't make a small dress bigger easily. This dress was obviously bought waaay too small to start with. It looked great at the end but that's bc the pattern was changed entirely and that's what a lot of plus size ppl refuse to admit. You can't just scale up the same pattern and expect it to look the same across the board. It's sad but either buy larger and get it altered or just go and find something you can actually try on and pay to have it fitted there. It's a lot less stressful than last minute realizing your dress doesn't fit at all and finding someone to work a miracle. The only way I would say avoid the fitting is if your weight changes drastically or you know you are gonna need alterations like your pregnant. Then just buy large and work with someone to make alterations on the dress last minute to ensure it fits proper for whatever event
I am plus sized, and I bought my wedding dress online while it was on sale because the style was being discontinued. But my mother and I can both sew, and she helped me to properly measure myself before picking a size. Also, I knew that the style would be flattering on me because it was a similar cut to the dress I had worn to prom in high school. The dress fit me quite well out of the box. I did still hire a professional seamstress with experience in wedding dresses though, in order to take it in by half an inch under the armpit so that the bust line would lay nicer, and to install a way to bustle it for after the ceremony. We got married just after college, so we didn't have a lot of money yet, and the sale was the only reason I could afford a nice dress in the first place. Everything not on clearance in my size was much more plain. So it is still possible, but you have to go into it knowing what looks good on you, and knowing how to properly measure to find your size.
@@justineczarnobyl9987Yeah, I’m pretty sure the reason why it doesn’t work in the back is because the dress is not made for plus size bodies, which need a whole other blueprint.
You are my new sewing hero. What you do is a gift to brides. I love to sew but have never been excited about alterations. Alterations is sewing skill beyond just creating a dress. It is often so much more difficult. The women who benefit from your skills are certainly lucky.
The gown fitted a very slim waist model and any sizes above may not give the same effect. As women we should shop according to our body types and stop thinking all dresses will fit us.
Why are so many of these dresses SO off in terms of size? Are these super cheap I ordered this and got this dresses where the extensive alterations end up costing 3x more $ than the dress itself, or are people going hey I can lose 100lbs in 3 if the most stressful busy months of my life (planning the wedding), or do the dresses only come up to a size 5 sizes smaller than the bride/wearer and they just assume you can work miracles…which so far you absolutely have, beautiful work! Good Lord though I’d never leave something so important to chance because what happens when you are booked solid or can’t find a matching or complimentary fabric?
If I was the bride and the dress fit so poorly, I would have collapsed and had a nervous breakdown. Once the maid of honor dropped me off at the mental health clinic, she would next have to call 911. Fixing this dress was an emergency!
Not every site has measurement charts so you can know what size you are in a particular line or item. I ordered *maternity* jeans, the kind with the stretchy fabric all round the torso, two sizes larger than my regular size to account for what I call "Asian sizing" based on where the clothing is made and the relatively smaller size in those countries. I got pants with a 23" waist. Zulily got so many complaints that they got their suppliers to give more size charts for each and every line and some individual items. I no longer buy anything online that doesn't have a specific size chart. I buy 90% of my clothes from 3 stores because I know my size at them and they're reasonably consistent across styles.
I'm with the bride on the zipper vs corset look on in back of the dress. You did a wonderful job and she'll remember how special you made her wedding day forever.
I have 2Questions #1 Why are your plus plus size clients buying dresses wayyyy tooo small? #2 Are Your alteration Prices Cheaper than them paying double or triple for the wedding dresses because of extra material?
@@ArkcessorizeYurselfunfortunately I think people fall in love with the *idea* of a dress/article of clothing and how it looks on the model instead of how it would look on them/if it's flattering for their shape and figure specifically :/ not just a plus size girlies problem, most people tend to do it
Sometimes the sizes are very, very dependent on brands (I have 10s that are to big and 14s that barely fit), and I imagine that'd be even moreso with plus plus sizes?
@nala7829 I've never been a bride, but I've been a bridesmaid and bridal sizes are definitely smaller than run of the mill clothes. I had to order a dress one or two sizes bigger because of how small they run and because there was no give in the fabric at all. It's kinda depressing. I almost had to order even another size up, but I refused. It zipped up & I decided I'd drop a few pounds vs ordering up.
When you showed the front at first I was like “looks pretty, I don’t see the issue” and then the back showed and I was like “ooooohhh…yup, that dress needs a little love” turned out beautiful!
Thank you for saying this, I’ve been so confused by these vids but your comment reminded me that duhh most of fashion is not inclusive to bigger bodies 🤦🏻♀️ I just remembered working at a clothes brand and we had to wear the brand but it only went up to XL. A coworker had to wear the men’s clothes to meet the uniform guidelines 🫠 it’s been 10 years, they’ve been cancelled, redid their image and … they still only go up to XL 🤦🏻♀️
For me, bridal dress shopping was fine. I am a size 14 and 6' and I looked online what they had in their collection. Even though I am not really big, I knew the sample sizes would be an 8 or a 10 and that will make me feel bad. That's why I looked at the plus size section. The dresses I tried were not my size but I could fit them. I tried 5 dresses and found the dress ❤
There’s a plus size wedding store somewhere in the uk, there’s a show about and honestly I might travel there just for my wedding dress if I can afford it 😂
It would be interesting for you to so a short on how to size - what bit must fit, and what bits are easier to alter. Most clothes made with silky fabrics have serged seams with no seam allowances, so letting out is a more difficult process than taking in for some aspects. Nice work on this!
This was a miracle fix. End result amazing...imo, the belt was a great addition. The real gown looks nothing like the illustration/ picture, but then you NEVER receive what you think you are ordering
I don't understand why brides insist on squeezing into a dress that is 10 sizes too small. The dress is not made for her body type and does not flatter her. You did an incredible job with what you had to work with.
Most bridal gowns AREN'T your normal size. You typically have to size up which is something most people don't know going into the process. Also, it's not just a size issue, the whole back side looks like it was assembled incorrectly.
@DUELISTKlNGDOM she first removed all the pleading to get more fabric. The whole look of the dress was achieved due to the pleading so it was too small before
All I can think of is your admonish that " the body does NOT come with the dress." The other thing to keep in mind is that if you are big and fluffy, wearing outfits that are tight are only going to emphasize it. Much better to get an outfit that is a bit large and is designed to be free flowing. You can alter a dress like that far easier than one that doesn't have enough fabric to start with. You my dear are the fairy-god-mother of seamstresses. You rock lady❤.
Icky, you sound like my stepdad telling me my whole childhood that bigger girls weren't allowed to wear the same types of clothing as smaller girls. Basically big girls should HIDE their body as much as possible. This is bs, obviously buy in your size but big girls are ABSOLUTELY allowed to wear tight and/or revealing clothing, just as much as a smaller girl. Kindness costs nothing, neither does minding your own body.
@@ellielou52 look, i'm also a huge woman, but the op comment is correct, the body does NOT come with the dress and something that looks good on a smaller body will not look the same on a larger one. You could tell that this dress did not flatter that womans body. The "sleeves" don't fit as they should due to the larger arms/chest. This dress was not made to fit a very large woman, and I'm sad that all those beautiful pleats were let out to give more fabric to work with but this seamstress did the best with what she had to work with. I just feel like the bride could have chosen something that would have made her look less frumpy than this dress. Yes, I said it. She looked frumpy in it. Idc come for me.
I have always wanted a flowly wedding dress, but this comment is making me consider a tight mermaid. What matters about a wedding dress is if you feel good in it. Sometimes that means dressing to hide your fat, sometimes it means showing off your fat
@@ellielou52most of the comments mention “the body doesn’t come with the dress” and that quote is not applicable here. The issue was the fit in the back and how aesthetically plain it was before the alterations, not her shape. The bride gave it more flair tbh.
I see what you’re doing. Not saying no to anyone is making you hone your skills and creativity. This is truly phenomenal work that must’ve taken at least a full 24 hours. I hope you’re charging appropriately. I’m a seamstress and this would’ve made me cry. Definitely would’ve told her to return it for the appropriate size and then we’ll adjust. You’re an Angel.
I think online shopping has got to be the bane of altering garments. I understand they are cheaper. But the construction and fabric is awful. Then to expect somebody fixed it is ridiculous.
Sis!! 😮You are a wizard!! You don't have a sewing machine you have a magic wand!! Your work is AMAZING!! Sewing is one thing. Excellent Alterations takes a master!! Love your videos!!
Absolutely! People are to stuck on numbers. Even before I switched to sewing my clothes I would always consult the size chart for the measurements. It boggles my mind that people don’t measure themselves and take into consideration styles that will/will not suit their body type. As a short waisted person I am hyper aware I guess of finding the best fit.
@@jaqlynlee1005 me too! I’m soooo short wasted I have to look at measurement charts EVERY SINGLE TIME. @@ericabuchanan7260 I have to say that realistic expectations is really difficult for some. It’s a shame that in school all things that would be useful to learn are thrown out in favor of nonsensical crap. Understanding your body shape, your personal colors and how to dress your body so that you look on point are things that should be in the curriculum. People would look much better and have better style if the knew these things. Understanding that I just don’t look good in high waisted jeans and pencil skirts because of my proportions helped to choose items that highlight my figure. And now that I sew the vast majority of my wardrobe I have the ability to have the dresses I want in the color that makes me look like a million bucks!
Folks are agreeing with you, but just to add in her defense 1). Size charts with accurate measurements are astonishingly rare when ordering online. 2). Wedding dress sizes are always, always, ALWAYS way too small. If you are normally a size 12, I guarantee you will need a size 20 or higher wedding dress to be close to actually fitting you.
It can take 8 weeks for a bridal gown or bridesmaid gown to come in. To return it and get a different size would tack on another 8 weeks at least, typically. Plus there can be return fees. Add to that the fact that custom dresses often times cannot be returned. Seeing as she is not a "standard" bridal size, she would most likely be charged a massive fee to return the dress, if they allowed it at all.
Idk but damn it seems like so many women are buying dresses too small. I’m wondering if A) they’re buying the size they want to fit I to and then Can’t lose the weight B) are ordering from Asian sites not knowing their sizing runs different C) too clueless to check size chart before ordering
Bridal sizing is smaller then normal sizing, I have no idea why. I've also seen some where they even provide custom measurements and the dresses are still bizarrely small. I think a lot of it is ordering dresses online for a low price. Quality control just isn't there
Why people order dresses without checking the measurements? If you buy something from china, you always check measurements and reviews. If there is no measurements, don't buy... You just lose lots of money.
What an amazing job you did with alterations for the dress! The rhinestones accent really added some extra style and she looked so beautiful on her wedding day!
No.... the shape was good. The client did pick a good shape with the neckline in a classic look. Just wasn't put together well. The quality of new clothes is just trash and everyone over a size 16 gets even worse quality at inflated prices. Everyone deserves to feel good in what they wear. The fashion market just sucks at serving everyone these days due to fashion being cranked out in inhumane conditions at literal slave wages that make it difficult for ethically sourced quality clothes to compete against the onslaught of designed to dispose garments. The client chose a good shape, we just don't know what other issues were a factor such as if they were sent the wrong size, time constraints, budget etc
Oof. I think that you did the best that you could with what you had to work with. You can't make a diamond out of dog poo. Starting from such a low point, you can only do so much and you did a lot here.
You don't shop in the baby clothes department when you're full grown, so don't shop in the small size department when you're obviously plus size. Unless you're going to get 2 dresses and sew them together.
It wasnt the size that was the issue tho it was the back loops what were looking weird, but u can tell the dress is her size bc the waist and the shoulders didn't need to be altered. She just didn't like how it closed
@@ashleyr2014rright? I don't think I can stick around, half the ppl here are mean, nasty, judgemental, unkind, and fat shaming. One lady literally said if this lady ordered the largest size they had and it still didn't fit it was a sign she should just lose some weight. Unreal.

The only way I would say avoid the fitting is if your weight changes drastically or you know you are gonna need alterations like your pregnant. Then just buy large and work with someone to make alterations on the dress last minute to ensure it fits proper for whatever event
@@alexrusso6503I think it may be because they like a particular dress but it doesn't go up to their size.
That dress was so small. I do not know why, but you worked a miracle. How beautiful!!!
I have seen many of your videos, and I think your channel should be called miracle threads!! You are making miracles happen!!❤
She looked so lovely at the end, and that rhinestone belt detail was gorgeous. Great job, so classy.
They created the front of the dress and gave up when they got to the back. It looks great after you worked your magic!
😭 😭 yeah that back was a mess. They made it look like a costume. Im so glad she fixed it!!
Not really. Back was fine. The size of the dress was wrong. That woman recklessly decided to buy a dress 6 sizes too small for her.
@@justineczarnobyl9987 this dress doesn't even have big sizes, not even on aliexpress. why do people always buy dresses clearly not their size?
@@justineczarnobyl9987Yeah, I’m pretty sure the reason why it doesn’t work in the back is because the dress is not made for plus size bodies, which need a whole other blueprint.
Excellent job! And i love the way she accessorised it with some rhinestone, lace and super pretty bouquet! ❤ 💐
She ordered a dress and just got some fabric until you worked your magic!!
How did the bride find her? She must have dialed 911 because she had an emergency for real.😂
The silver dress with her skin tone is gorgeous! Fantastic alterations 😊
A champagne, or even a pale warm pewter would have been a better choice; the silver is too icy for her warm undertone…
It looked real prettt on her ! Great job!
Fixing this dress was an emergency!
you get what you pay for 🤷🏽♀️ this is why I never buy important dresses online… I’d rather pay the extra price and not deal with the stress 😭
Bridal sizes are often nowhere near your regular dress size
You are a miracle worker. Love people with your kind of talent.
BEAUTIFUL color and beautiful style wedding gown 👏👏👏
She looks beautiful!! The belt really elevated the dress, that was a great idea!!
Great job! Great dress choice for her body type. It was very flattering on her.
I have 2Questions
#1 Why are your plus plus size clients buying dresses wayyyy tooo small?
#2 Are Your alteration Prices Cheaper than them paying double or triple for the wedding dresses because of extra material?
maybe it was the biggest size? I mean, sometimes you buy like XXL, but your boobs cant fit into it anyway, and the rest is just hanging anyway.
My questions too. Am plus sized and this style would not work for me mainly because am very busty.
Gorgeous! That back was truly chaotic! What on earth! Great job Monde!
Man, you really do some incredible work. I know that lady felt like such a beautiful bride!
Beautiful work! You are so skilled and talented.
Ngl. It still looked like garbagê in the end. Which is due to the material and the dress not being right for her. But you safed the f out of it.✨️✨️
When you showed the front at first I was like “looks pretty, I don’t see the issue” and then the back showed and I was like “ooooohhh…yup, that dress needs a little love” turned out beautiful!
You do such an awesome job on every dress. Each woman looks beautiful in the dresses you alter. Very talented
From farcical to fantastical!
I love you are helping us big girls with our issues. Bridal is not a plus size positive environment. You always do an amazing job!
Exactly ❤ I married 14 years ago, im small an chubby. I had so many crys in my small german hometown because there was no wedding dress.
Thank you for saying this, I’ve been so confused by these vids but your comment reminded me that duhh most of fashion is not inclusive to bigger bodies 🤦🏻♀️
I just remembered working at a clothes brand and we had to wear the brand but it only went up to XL. A coworker had to wear the men’s clothes to meet the uniform guidelines 🫠 it’s been 10 years, they’ve been cancelled, redid their image and … they still only go up to XL 🤦🏻♀️
GTFO you KNOW she purposefully chose 10 sizes too small... she is probably one of those "i'm a 10" type delulu women...
LOVE!!!! INSPIRATION!!!! I also do alterations for my customers. You keep up the good work and have a wonderful day 😊 Robin N.Otis-Clayborne
Thank you ❤️
This was a miracle fix.
End result amazing...imo, the belt was a great addition.
The real gown looks nothing like the illustration/ picture, but then you NEVER receive what you think you are ordering
This lady chose a beautiful style for her size. You did an amazing job. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
She looked beautiful!! 😍 You did a great job
You did a miracle with the dress. Turned out beautiful❤
Beautiful. You did a fantastic job and the bride looked gorgeous
Such a beautiful dress✨
Very nice gown alterations!! She looked lovely!!
I agree
it wasnt too small, though? she even said she had to take the dress IN
I definitely agree
@DUELISTKlNGDOM she first removed all the pleading to get more fabric. The whole look of the dress was achieved due to the pleading so it was too small before
You make people feel so good with your work. I applaud your skill!❤
All I can think of is your admonish that " the body does NOT come with the dress."
The other thing to keep in mind is that if you are big and fluffy, wearing outfits that are tight are only going to emphasize it.
@@roxazaloah she absolutely did not get the dress she could have because of her inability to have those honest conversations with her self
Bless you and your talents. Your agility to show grace and patience with clients.
Beautiful!! She looks gorgeous!!! Love the belt it did need something!!!
I think online shopping has got to be the bane of altering garments. I understand they are cheaper. But the construction and fabric is awful. Then to expect somebody fixed it is ridiculous.
You, Madame, have mad talent! What a transformation!!!❤
Beautiful dress Beautiful Bride! The Rhinestone belt added some bling too!
You do phenomenal work!
Sis!! 😮You are a wizard!! You don't have a sewing machine you have a magic wand!! Your work is AMAZING!! Sewing is one thing. Excellent Alterations takes a master!! Love your videos!!
You saved that woman's wedding day.
I've been really enjoying watching your talent. Thanks again for sharing. 😊
She looked stunning in that dress! Great job!!
I love your work! Your attention to detail is fabulous.
Why do all the women you help always buy dresses waaaaaaay to small. Everyone of them. Oh my goodness girl. People need a tape measure. ❤
Yesss ! I was literally just about to add this comment lol. It can't be that hard to know your size, if to small send it back 🤷
@@jaqlynlee1005 me too! I’m soooo short wasted I have to look at measurement charts EVERY SINGLE TIME. Also, as a woman in my 40s, I know well enough now to have several styles of dresses in my closet for any occasion?! Although I do understand how things can come up last minute, but still! Why are these poor ladies constantly last minute shopping! This poor woman has to hand sew everything! Give her time people!
Folks are agreeing with you, but just to add in her defense
1). Size charts with accurate measurements are astonishingly rare when ordering online.
2). Wedding dress sizes are always, always, ALWAYS way too small. If you are normally a size 12, I guarantee you will need a size 20 or higher wedding dress to be close to actually fitting you.
You work MAGIC ! Beautiful work!!!
WHY buy such a small dress?! Couldn't she return it? I don't understand
You absolutely can, but it would require to plan ahead. Something many seem to be unable to 😂
Idk but damn it seems like so many women are buying dresses too small. I’m wondering if
A) they’re buying the size they want to fit I to and then
Can’t lose the weight
B) are ordering from Asian sites not knowing their sizing runs different
C) too clueless to check size chart before ordering
@@Puglover130All of the above.😂
Bridal sizing is smaller then normal sizing, I have no idea why.
I've also seen some where they even provide custom measurements and the dresses are still bizarrely small.
I think a lot of it is ordering dresses online for a low price. Quality control just isn't there
Your alteration work is amazing, thank you.
Why people order dresses without checking the measurements? If you buy something from china, you always check measurements and reviews. If there is no measurements, don't buy... You just lose lots of money.
Love the transformations. You are a wonderful seamstress. And art that needs to come back.
Do people order their size nowadays? It's better for the dress to be too big than too small.
What an amazing job you did with alterations for the dress! The rhinestones accent really added some extra style and she looked so beautiful on her wedding day!
She needed a dress twice that size
To be fair, the client did order a good shape for her body type. Fashion does everyone wrong over a size 16
Wow! You definitely have a great skill! The bride looked beautiful in her dress
Oof. That dress was just awful. They clearly didn't do any work to make sure it would look good for a plus sized woman.
You should be so proud of your work to help this young lady have her special day!!! Amazing job
Honey I don’t know how you do it….
You did an amazing job and now she looks so beautiful. Thank you for sharing some love.
Please wear something that suits your body type.
That whole dress was a chaos! You turned it into Order, especially with that lovely belt.
Uhm, great job on alteration. I am super happy that the bride felt comfortable her dream dress🌻🌴🌻
She shouldn't have ordered the dress for her figure. Simple.
No.... the shape was good.
You do an amazing job! ❤
I love following your alteration adventures. You get some real challanges.
Oof. I think that you did the best that you could with what you had to work with. You can't make a diamond out of dog poo. Starting from such a low point, you can only do so much and you did a lot here.
Lady, you worked a MIRACLE! Great job!
It's still bulgy and stretched. So unflattering
Love what you did for the dress. And her veil was gorgeous!
Buy the size that fits guys. Taking something in is way easier than letting it out
Girl you work MAGIC on these dresses!!!❤❤
You don't shop in the baby clothes department when you're full grown, so don't shop in the small size department when you're obviously plus size. Unless you're going to get 2 dresses and sew them together.
It wasnt the size that was the issue tho it was the back loops what were looking weird, but u can tell the dress is her size bc the waist and the shoulders didn't need to be altered. She just didn't like how it closed
These are the type of comments this page loves.
Fat. This isn’t plus size. She is fat.
@@ashleyr2014rright? I don't think I can stick around, half the ppl here are mean, nasty, judgemental, unkind, and fat shaming. One lady literally said if this lady ordered the largest size they had and it still didn't fit it was a sign she should just lose some weight. Unreal.

why are so many women ordering dresses that are far too small? do they not look at the measurements? its my understanding that formals almost always run small and you have to size up. but surely they have measurements to verify what size to buy? i can understand making little adjustments, but this is almost complete reconstruction on the dresses you show.
Online clothing shopping is a gamble, even with "accurate" sizing charts included.
Great job. Belt and veil look great with it.
How is it these women think they will look like the women in the picture?????
