Nice video, Chris! I used to watch your videos quite often and you helped inspire me to continue my quest of location indepenence. But, I was/am content living in my small beach town here in FL. So many amenties and basically living like a digital nomad in my own beautiful area! Now, I've worked full-time from home for 2 years and have grown my RUclips channel to over 500K subscribers! I'm glad you've been able to continue doing your thing but in your own city! Brings a different experience, for sure. Thanks for the update!
Nice bro!! Beautiful cinematics! The gold coast is definitely the best life in Australia. I know the feeling you have. If I were ever to settle down that is the place! Sick pad!
Nice voice over intro.👍 Your 2016 ~2017 videos where the definition of yolo and see what the next day brings. That carefree way of life is something I hope we can go back.
Good to see that you are doing well. You were one of the first RUclipsrs we watched that motivated us to take our first step on the Digital Nomad journey, which we are starting in February 2022. We would love to see you on the road again, but at the same time, no need to rush - it looks like you have built something really great at home, and start travelling whenever you are ready, be it in a few months or even a year or two.
Hey cool, I just stumbled across your channel and noticed how we are in the same boat. I'm an Australian too (And also a software engineer) suffering the same problem as you, wanting to get overseas to work as a digital nomad. I've set my own company up but I see two issues. a) The company requires an Australian address, do you rent a home back in Australia or do you use something like a virtual office? b) Workcover requires an address, can you use a virtual office address or does it have to be a rental. Will workcover care if i'm out of the country for more than 6 months as it's a compulsory insurance, i'll never use it, just needs to be maintained legal status?
That's what we LOVE about freelancing. These past two years have been difficult in a number of ways, but ensuring income stability hasn't been difficult at all as we are the ones in control of a business we are passionate about. Freelancing has enabled us to return back to Canada to reconnect with family and focus on the important people in our lives, and we're grateful for that. Still, it will be nice to get out once again and take in all that the world has in store! Here's to freelancing, Chris, and one heck of a journey for you.
well a beautiful apartment like that is hard to leave! :) And must have costed quite a bit! anyhow, thanks to your youtube advice I am going to Playa del Carmen this winter :)
I spent the whole pandemic trading. Lost 40k on the ASX.. but thanks to Mr. Pizzino i left the ASX and got into crypto... I got back 10k.. still need to get back 30k and then I'm even... haha. ADA to 5 bucks...Matic, Polkadot... we fukin going to the moon.
Great to have you back and to see that you've been doing so well since. Hope you have a great end to the year and looking forward to seeing where you go in 2022. I'm looking to head back to full-time travel in the spring :)
Hey Steve. The first part went we went into proper lockdown wasn't but after about 6 months, my city went back to virtually normal and we only experienced about 10 more days of lockdown in 2021. The international travel ban was definitely very annoying but at the same time, it meant that covid was kept out and so I guess I can be grateful for that :)
Yeah it's been an interesting time to say the least. The thing I've found over the last few weeks since the border ban being lifted is trying to sort out what's needed to go anywhere, especially around insurance covering Covid. Having said that, I have booked my flight back to Chiang Mai for May already.
Oh wow. That is super interesting to see. I thought you guys were looked in for the last 1,5 years in Australia? I always thought you have been in total lockdown, not allowed to leave your area and the country. That is actually what friends from Australia told me as well....
It was on a state-by-state basis. Victoria and NSW had very heavy lockdowns that went on for months but my state of Queensland only had 10 days of lockdown (+3 if you count Brisbane's lockdown) in 2021. That being said, Queensland had and still has some of the heaviest border restrictions so that's how we managed to keep the outbreak for outer-state at bay.
Great lesson for those who just leave their country without experiencing their own culture. The people and the activities you surround yourself with are what matter the most. Traveling and working from home is awesome too though :)
What an inspirational video, Chris! Thank you so much for sharing how incredible your big city life was after the intense lockdown when you showed your workouts while you were trapped at your beautiful home on the waterfront. Did finally having the muscular body that you always wanted give you an extra dose of confidence and did it make you more popular with the ladies?
Covid wil never ends, and travel like before never going to be the same anymore sadly, but we have to use to it, We will miss a lot before Covid lifestyle.. Wake up in Philippines.. And dinner in a Thailand beach.. Just a Example.
@@ChristheFreelancer Right on! I get it… I spent my first 2 months of lockdown in California after leaving Vietnam in the nick of time. Then headed for the mountains of Idaho/ Wyoming. I considered myself very fortunate. Good channel, new sub👍 Cheers M

Niiiiiceeee!!
awesome!
'Pandemic? What pandemic?' .... looks like the best year yet mate. Well played, Chris.
Gold Coast does most things very well, including lockdowns😁. Great to see your back in the travel game, but will it ever be the same is my question?
so jacked!!!!

sorry chris i was just leaving
This looks like a parallel universe
right ? my life was not that fun even before the "situation" ahah
haha how so?

That’s a lockdown?? Lol.
Not exactly. Freedoms inside weren't too impacted in my city but movements were very restricted from state to state. That was the trade-off.
