@@ChristheFreelancer it came with its struggles for sure but it was 100% the right choice. Hopefully you can find a loophole to get back to Bali or Thailand. I’ve watched your videos for many years and we used to talk on Snapchat. Best of luck dude and make more videos!
I really like and would like to highlight the point that to be location independent helped many of us to survive during the pandemic, without loosing our job, etc. That is actually the most important thing here.
I’m so happy to be a full time digital nomad now. Even with Covid, it’s possible and even at 40+ like me. I do like to stay in a country for a longer time and creat a routine. I miss a nice coffee shop to hang out....
haven't clicked this fast before. Honestly you were one of the OG digital nomad channels and I think you have the potential to grow this really big. Hoping you can continue the channel!
When we put everything in perspective... things are really quite crazy! I've been home ever since this started too but there's been so many valuable lessons about traveling without having to be moving around to a different place. It was like learning to extract the core experiences and feelings from travel and learning to practice it at home - hope it doesn't sound too crazy haha! Anyway, great video and love your filmmaking skills! Take care amigo!
It's always great to see you Chris! Thank you so much for this update and I really enjoyed learning about what your friends are doing and how they are making the most out of their country's travel restrictions.
Super compelling and very valid hiatus and return video! Thanks for waiting it out, interviewing other 'nomads', and for your honesty. I'm a US citizen who has just joined what you've called the 'new generation' of DN's. When the pandemic started I was teaching English in Japan. I returned to the US for 10 months to really carefully think about where I wanted to be and what I wanted to do in life. COVID made me face those questions really seriously. I'm now a digital marketer and I've just arrived in Croatia for idk how long...gotta watch how the pandemic progresses. Will be interested in any other content you put here or your other channel. Thank you so much for sharing your voice and perspective!
Sorry you got stuck in Australia man. You made me a digital nomad 2 years ago. Watched your videos. Sold everything I owned and booked a 1 way ticket to Thailand. Been living in Vietnam for over a year now. Great video! Hope too see everyone out traveling again soon!
Hi Chris, thanks for sharing this awesome video, including the views of your Nomad friends. I got to know your videos well your work, only during the pandemic. I was a globetrotter myself but working in the tourist trade, always on the road from continent to continent. But these actual worldwide circumstances have shown to many people including myself the possibilities in the digital world because we all had to lockdown. I've watched many of your videos already and wanna thank you for putting all this precious work out here. So hang in there Chris, the sky will open again, even over DOWNUNDER, and allow you to do what you love doing ..... traveling. I will approach and greet you where ever it is our roads cross. Good to have you back mate.
Hey Chris, I am a citizen of Thailand and I have been following your videos since 2018, so glad to watch it again and hope you will be leaving to Chiang Mai soon again.
I'm a new fan ! But it's nice to see you back ! I'm a new digital nomad and your videos are cool and very informative I enjoy them and dude you also look exactly like my brother your the Australian version of him ! It's awesome, thanks for your committed work 💪 all the best !
It felt s good getting a notification of a new video from you. Very information, would love to see more on the current lives digital nomads, and reflections.
@@ChristheFreelancer It's fascinating, the current digi nomad world. Being a slow traveller from the UK, who decided to stay put in Vietnam at the outbreak, I'd met many dg who very much regretted their decision to leave Asia, specifically, where life has been mostly virus free. I think we'll have a few years before care free travel returns.
Nice editing dude. I've been stuck in Vietnam. It's gotten way more strict here in the last few weeks. Police checkpoints, stay in place orders. I was planning to leave early August but now I'm not so sure.
Wonderful! Really the first video I watch on this specific aspect of this travelling way I’m actively planning and entering ending this 2022. A wide view on what to expect! Thank you 💥
It’s so great to have you back! We are starting our digital nomad life, and you were the first one that introduced us to the idea years ago. So grateful to you!
Great video, pretty crazy how when starting my online business, I would always hear "That sounds risky" "you could lose your business at any moment" and then the pandemic hit, many people lost their jobs, and my sales increased. Was quite ironic.
Thank you for making these videos. I guess it was a hard time for everyone but for me I was scared that all the things I love about life and that I find crucial to my existence such as free movement of people, less borders, more diversity, spontaneity are endangered.. but I think now I do see a rainbow at the end of the rain as companies are becoming more open to remote work! Lots of good thoughts from Tenerife
As a fellow pre-covid digital nomad (that went home right before the pandemic hit to renew passports) I can completely relate to your choice to pause your travels and head back home. The level of uncertainty is just not worth the risk. Even now with the current state of things, I'm not sure my husband and I will pick up our travels by the end of the year. We're at the point of considering van life just to move around a bit. Great video, I'm glad you're safe!
Good to see you are still making videos. Watching youtubers like you and Riley Bennet talk about the digital nomad lifestyle was one of the things that inspired me to move abroad and work remotely.
We need more videos like this! Please don't make us wait another year for your next upload. Maybe you can interview some more of your nomad friends around the world :)
Thanks for the great video- sorry to hear you’re stuck here like us, and thanks for addressing what so many in Australia refuse to touch on: the unjust border situation. Hopefully one day soon we will be given at least a legitimate and reasonable roadmap for how and when things will change. Definitely miss our old life. Cheers, Sarah & Cooper (Brisbane, for now) 😊
Thanks Chris for sharing this perspective on covid. Yes, I can only imagine how blessed life could be as a digital nomad. Especially when tons of people lost their jobs and are far behind learning new skills to do online. Also good of you share other people's opinions on this situation in your video.
Hey, nice to hear back from you. And cool perspectives from different individuals. Personally, I've taken the chance to travel within my country whenever is possible. I had the chance to come back without much effort and it was so easy 'I had to take it'. There are up and downs, constantly, but staying longer than I did before (although I usually spent at least a month on each place) has been good for taking the time to do stuff but also relax as Felipe said. I'm always wondering what will happen whenever we get back the amount of 'freedom' we had. I feel nothing won't stop me later cause I'd have to take the juice out of it. And as you said, many will start to get that itch after working remotely for so long and realizing what they might actually achieve. Good luck on your personal journey whenever or however it is 👌
Great video!! Hopefully we can all travel again soon but we are so lucky to live in Australia. It’s definitely a good place to be stuck for a while. Hope you’re well ☺️
Its a very interesting look at how much we took for granted international travel or even travel within our own states. But also how under the new norm being a digital nomad could be more normal then ever before as the vaccination rate increases around the world and businesses have learn to create more freedom for its workers. Like I have been working from home since March 2020.
Cool to see you back :) I was also taking international travel for granted. Not anymore. In 2019 I travelled and worked in SE Asia for almost 4 months and it was great. After having that experience I decided to do it every 2 years. Then COVID happened. Now I know I will be doing it every year and for as many months as possible (basically escaping whole cold seasons in PL). Regarding the travel ban in Australia: This is a failure of democracy and it should not have happened. Also people don't pay attention to what laws are passed and when shit hits a fan, everybody is surprised. Australia is not struggling with money, they can afford quarantine centers for travellers etc. The upsetting thing about those 36000 Australians stuck abroad wishing to return home is that the same democracy that denies them entry is taking their tax money as if nothing has happened. Best wishes for you and lets hope that in few months things get back to some normality.
Great to see another video from you. I managed to be stuck for a while in the "home country" and later on in my new country. I'm honestly not sure what I would prefer.
I arrived in Bangkok in Feb 2020 with the plan to be there until September.... Then the Australian Gov started calling everyone in and I was concerned about being stuck in Thailand and my visa expiring and having to face the consequences of an overstay. If I knew they were going to give amnesty I never would have gone back to Australia. Australia handled covid well but the policy keeping people from leaving with no plan for how or when that will change is insane.
Hello, you inspired me to become digital normad, I started with 5 web designing specializations, after finishing them, month ago I started to apply for a job in USA (I'm Europe citizen but I learn english since I was kid), 100+ applies later still no job.. Any tips how could I start? I have porfolio with a few projects.
Mid-2022 now seems like the reopening of Australia internationally but who knows if that will turn out to be true. In the meantime, hold in there people! Good to see you're well Chris.

Great video! I hope Australia relax the rules for you guys soon... My girlfriend and I are nomads from the UK and we're too scared to go home and visit family in case similar bans are imposed there again. You should make a video about so-called "vaccine passports" - would be intriguing to hear others nomads' thoughts on these!
Yeah Australia annoys the shit out of me with its strict rules on Travel. They are telling us all to get vaccination which I have done, but then not giving any benefits to vaccination as we still get treated as non-vaccinated members of the community. And all the politics between the states in Australia is just annoying. Though I am in lockdown now in Sydney.
