Ive been trying to do silken tofu during the quarantine 2020.. 1st try was okay.. same result dun sa 1st powder nyo po.. kasi i have the same powder Gypsum Food Grade Calcium Sulphate .. lasang taho nga but very grainy. Then 2nd and 3rd try was a fail. 4th try was just like the 1st trial. Then i got tired of trying kasi nasasayangan ako dun sa mga failed attempts ko haha. Didnt know we could do hard tofu out of the failed ones. Thank you so much for this!! Will definitely try the Gypsum with Cornstarch 🥰

I know na hustle masyado pag from scratch, when I started making taho like 7 years ago nag cheat ako, instead of making it from scratch ginamit ko store bought soy milk, pero no matter how i tried to change the recipe ayaw pa rin mabuo. Ang conclusion ko is store b ought milk kasi iba ang measurement nila sa pag gamit ng water it could be kulang sa strength ng milk or maybe pasteurized na yung milk, pero kung makakabili ka ng fresh talaga na soy milk na hindi pasteurized maybe mabubuo. If not naman you may use unflavored gelatin using store bought soy milk. Thanks, for watching my video.
Hi, kung walang coagulant you can use unflavored gelatin ang gagamitin mong liquid soy milk, kahit store bought soy milk. The only difference is hindi mo pwede kainin ng warm kc pag Ininit mo matutunaw. Or you can buy super soft silken tofu sa Asian market, I have a video how yo make that, just watch the video if you like 😊. Thanks!
Hi Melanie , I tried it when I first started pero nag failed, maybe because yung store bought soy milk pasteurized na. You can use that milk if you're going to use gelatin, cgurado mabubuo. But you can't make TAHO pag store bought ang gagamitin mo, based lang yun sa experienced ko. Thanks.
they're both taste the same even though i used 2.5 liters of water sa 500 gms of soy beans which is equivalent to 10.5 cups only ,the strength will of course much stronger. Even though I used the same amount of water sa 300 gms lang ng soybeans, taste for me is still the same. As per experience, you need to adjust the water sometimes para malaman mo kung pwede rin mag work kung pinalitan mo ng amt of water. What matter is ,you will be able to find different ways to make your taho works. You have to play around sometimes para makita natin kung pwede rin ba yun or not. But honestly they're both fine with me sa taste, taho pa rin lasa. THANKS,🙂
okeedokeepokee yes, it will be the same yield or more but you only need 12 cups . But remember I come up with 12 cups and used some of it for making samples for the different types of coagulant. If this is your first time making taho , try not to use it all at once. Start with 2 cups of soy milk , just the way I make it so that just in case you fail on your first try it won’t be wasted because you only use 2 cups.
you have to use fresh soymilk without any flavor, you can't use pasteurized . Na try ko na before ang pre-made when first started para mapadali but nag fe fail. It's because store bought soymilk are mostly pasteurized. pero kung makakabili ka ng soy milk na fresh sa market na talagang fresh much better. But you can also use store bought kung gelatin ang gagamitin mo.
Iba-iba ang process sa pag gawa ng taho, most especially pag homemade. Unlike sa pa gawaan they used machine para mapadali ang production. Katulad sa pag luluto, we all have different style of cooking, and we cannot compare the process pag homemade and sa mismong pagawaan. Hi I don’t really know why, but I always use Soy America and never a time na hindi nabuo ang taho, I always have a nice texture like a real taho. It could be May mali sa pag process ng soy milk or May problema sa gypsum powder na ginamit or sa soybeans itself. I’m sorry to here that, just keep on trying and make some adjustments. Thanks 🙏

Gypsum is a calcium sulfate and this is rich in calcium and it naturally occurring mineral that coagulates soy milk for tofu or taho. While , GDL is short for Glucono Delta Lactone, food additive used as for curing, pickling and an acidifier, This is commonly used for making silken tofu.
I think the reason your samples taste weird is bec the ratio of your coagulant is wrong. Too much coagulant against the soy milk. Check your measurements very carefully.

Correction po. Gypsum po is calcium sulphate. Yung GDL po is glucono delta lactone. Magkaiba po sila. GDL po yung nasa round container nyo.
