My mother made her caramel icing like this in the 60’s. Your instructions seem so easy. I’m going to attempt this. Thank you so much for your aunt Hazel’s recipe.💕
Oh God just blessed your heart and delivered my soul Ms Susan. This is just how my much older aunts made all of their icings like this and my great great great aunt passed away very soon after we’d made our plans and now the elders of my church are also gone.TYSM
OH my Stars Susan....Im not sure whether to just eat this by itself or put it on the cake!! Looks so good and I love anything caramel flavored. Thanks Aunt Hazel!!
I could see using this icing on 3 cakes, one the original way with a butter yellow cake, one with a dark chocolate cake, and a white coconut flavor cake, yummy!
I’m not completely sure but you may have let it cook too long. It needs to be soft ball stage. That means when you drop it in cold water you can gather it up into a ball in the water but it will fall apart when you remove the ball from the water. Hard ball stage you can remove the ball from the water and it holds together. If you have a Candy thermometer it will have soft ball listed when you check the temp. I hope this helps. Thank you so much for watching!😊💕
Here as promised!!!😊 Here is the icing to the box cake mix that I made to taste like a bakery cake! ruclips.net/video/t0IwAH1nam0/видео.html

Great recipe. Can I ask....my icing set up a little harder than yours looks. How do I keep it from doing that?

It is in the description box. Click where it says more…😊
It’s not printable right?
@@sheliahampton925 you could probably copy and paste it to notes or word. You can also take a screen shot if you have a smart phone. 😊
The only difference between your recipe and my mother in law’s is a tsp of vanilla
