Confidence is an essential criteria one need to achieve success, ignorance and bad influence don't allow us to achieve what we ought to achieve in life

I think he is trying to explain that there is a different perspective to life. Confidence is essentially the faith in ourselves that we can do something. What he is telling us is to do whatever it is, if it needs to be done and don’t be bothered by the outcome. Just follow our Karma.
The problem with confidence as a concept is that, provided the outcome of our efforts are not how we expected it to be, confidence will get hampered. On the other hand we are just trying to do what is expected of us or needed of us, the outcome does not matter, our conscious effort is enough.

We are the pure intelligence, truly beyond the reach of vrittis, trying to know ourselves through experience. Thought can be used as a tool but fear and belief are only needed until one matures past the want or need for them.

Unfortunately life is a continuos competition in many ways. It can be seen in plants, competiting about a place in the sunshine, it can be seen in animals competiting about food, nest, partner etc. We human beeings try to find the purpose of each competition and a balace to the internal and external challenges we face all the time. Luckily we usually can choose the competition we partcipate to and regulate the rules of it for ouselves.
Worrying won't stop the bad things from happening, it just stops you from enjoying the good.
Everyting is connected, we are complete in our self. Control yourself your thoughts and your actions. Be greatfull for everything.
If you feel like quitting remember why you started. This keeps me focused. Also I say it's better to try and fail.....than Fail to Try
