Hi Maddie! Not to sound like a stalker, but I would love to go shelling with you! You find so many wonderful shells. That Pearl oyster is GORGEOUS! My favorite this time. And along with cowries and cones, I'm a limpet fan, too. And seeing that live textile cone, so cool!! 😍. Thanks for sharing your adventures. Have a great day!
G'day Melissa 👋🏻💖 Haha, I totally understand!! There are more than enough shells for everyone here, even during the busy times ☺️ I'm glad that I can take you a long virtually, but I'd be up for a beach meet up or chat if anyone ever did find themselves over in Queensland, Australia 🦘 the cowries and cones are lovely, but the limpets stood out to you as well 🤩? I made a special effort to show more this time...or maybe they were just more interesting today?? Thank you so much for watching 🥰
Hello 👋🏼 Maddie. Cool juvenile Deer Cowry 😎 What a cute little Grape 🍇 Cowry 😍 GORGEOUS live Textile Cone! They have the prettiest colors, I think.. 🤔 😊Love the Rosy Spindle Cowry!! 😍 I was surprised to see the intact Paper Fig. The water is alot rougher where you are located 😮 Two days and lots of beach treasures!! Thanks Maddie for taking us along with you!! TTFN 👋🏼 ❤
G'day Mimi 👋🏻💖 That live textile cone was a scary one...you gotta be careful this those but my goodness, it was a big beauty! There was a lot of different and interesting shells over these two days of shelling; the Paper Fig was a big surprise as it's the most intact one I've collected yet? I'm super glad you liked the little shells; sometimes the tinies get the love they deserve, but sometimes they don't get enough of it 😂 Thank you so much for watching 🥰
what a lovely assortment of shells today...I love love love the oysters and the limpets and the sundials. It's also fascinating that the cowries look so different as they grow. thanks again for another great adventure!
G'day Leslie 👋🏻🏖️ There was a lot of variety in this one...my shell display was a bit of a mess at the end because I didn't quite know how to work them all together 😂 So many limpets this time!! The different sundials were a nice find, and the larger pearl oyster too 🤩 Ohh and you're the second person to mention how interesting it was to see the different cowrie growth stages...I should try to do that more often if the opportunity presents itself 🤔 seeing the differences is really interesting and informative 😲 Thank you so much for watching the big adventure 🥰
G'day Bearseyeview 👋🏻🐻 The Pearl Oysters are everywhere sometimes...I should show more of them, they really are quite lovely 🐚🤔 the scallops are fantastic pops of colour as well, they are just as eye catching! Thanks for watching 🥰
Beautiful selection of limpets today! 🗻🗻🗻 Loved the oyster shell too! 🦪🦪🦪 The juvenile and sub-adult cowries are so cool. The bubble shells are really fun too. 🧼🧼🧼 My favorites today are the jewel box shell and of course the rosy spindle shell. 💗💗💗 Thanks for the wonderful adventure Maddie! 🥰🥰🥰
G'day Pam 👋🏻💖 The limpets were really nice this time 🤩 Lots to pick and choose from, so I found a couple of good ones to show 😉 same with the pearl oyster as well! Oh, you're not the first person to mention how cool it is to see a comparison of the different growth stages of the cowries; it really is quite interesting to see how the shells appearances can change over time 😲 Oh my goodness, the jewel box lid is a favourite along with the Rosy Spindle Cowrie...I haven't forgotten how much you like pink 💖 Once again Pam, thank you so much for joining me on these adventure 🥰
Hello Maddie!😊 The pink lace coral is so 🪸pretty. Pearl oyster very nice. Lovely eroded cowrie and a nice size. Yes you were right about that textile cone!😮 Nothing worse than when a dumper crashes in😂 Pacific jewel box shell lovely. Cute turkey wing. Always love a sundial shell, you found two very nice ones. Pretty display at the end. ❤xxxxx
G'day Alison 👋🏻💖 There was so much Pink Lace Coral, I was quite surprised 😲 there was a wonderful variety of lovely shells, but that Textile Cone would have been the cherry on top it it was empty. the Sundials work as the perfect finishers instead. Ahhh, thank you for your kind words 🙏🏻 truthfully, I wasn't pleased with how the final display turned out, but oh well 😅 I am maybe my worst critic. Also, wait, you don't call big waves a "dumper" over there 😂? We call them dumpers over here, or maybe that's more of a surfing term, because they're going to dump you under 🌊 As always Alison, thank you so much for watching 🥰

Hey Maddie....loved the Lettered Mitre and the Sundials today. That large Eroded Cowrie was pretty nice as well ! You live in such a beautiful area...thanks again and hugs from Ontario, Canada...........Wanda
G'day Wanda 👋🏻💖 The Lettered Mitre is so good; I wish I had given it a favourite at the end, but I overlooked it in the display...oops 😂 Thank you for giving it some love ❤️ and the sundials as well, they're cuties!! Oh, I'm so glad you liked that big Eroded Cowrie as well 🤩 this is truly a beautiful place, thank you for exploring this beach with me once again 🏖️🥰
G'day Green Thumb Gardener 👋🏻☘️❤️ Hehe, I think if you sit on the sand and go into the "zen state" then you will start to see the shell shapes more against the sand texture 😁 the paper figs was a nice larger one on a day like this, but that Cat Cowrie was a bit cuter 🐈 Thank you so much for watching 🥰
Hello Maddie, Late evening 10:30 pm. Very nice video. Some new shells. Love the Limpets, Pearl Oyster, Pacific Jewel Box, Rosy Spindle Cowrie too. Wow. A live Textile cone and big too. Awesome. You take care. Fall coming on the 22nd. Leaves coming down. Your summer should come soon. Thanks. TRUDY
G'day Trudy 👋🏻💖 There was quite a lot of shells in this one from two days of shelling 🤩 been doing a lot of beach trips lately, so have yielded more shells than others; I have to remind myself to show the shells that I might not usually be interested in personally. Summer here starts on December 1. We are already in spring, it started on the first of the month for us... technically, anyway 😅 that's just how we do it here. Thanks for watching 🥰
Hello Maddie 🌊 The cute discrepant venus, the pearl oyster, the radial sundial, and the lettered mitre, all get special mentions from me today. My favourites of the video are the eroded cowrie duo. It is really cool seeing mature and juvenile displayed side by side.
G'day Oceanluvn Gal 👋🏻🌊💖 That little discrepant Venus was a nice contract to the big pearl oyster. The sundials are a wonderful mention, but gosh, you have reminded me that I forgot to mention that Lettered Mitre - I wanted it to be a favourite, but I overlooked where I put it at the end (it was way at the top tucked in behind something). Wow, the top favourite is the big adult Eroded Cowrie, and the sub-adult Eroded Cowrie 😲 it was nice to see a comparison of growth states, wasn't it 🤩 Thank you so much for watching 🥰
G'day Bonnie Julien 👋🏻🏖️ Thank yoooou!!! There was a lot of variety in this big episode 🐚 thank you so much for taking the time to watch the extra long adventure 🥰
G'day Di 👋🏻🏖️ The Paper Fig is a fun find here, it really isn't easy to spot one in the rock pools or sand 😲 The Pearl oysters have been a common sight...I just don't pick up enough of them 😂 Thank you so much for watching 🥰
Hi Maddie 😊 or Shiny Hunter ;) as always love all the shells you find , such wonderful beaches up there , and you find such Goodly Sized shells as well 😂… The patterned sundials ❤ And that Bird Cardita is super cute … love them all 🐚🐚🌈
G'day Annie 👋🏻🏖️ I felt like a super nerd saying that, because it reminded me of the Pokemon games 😅 I, even as an adult, do still like those games from my childhood...it might be why I like "catching" all of the shells 🐚 ahhh don't mind me. Hehe, speaking of goodly sized, that Sundial was large for the species 🤩 gotta love the giant mini shells, as much as that sounds like an oxymoronic term 😁 the little Bird Cardita is a cute too. As always, thank you so much for watching the warm adventures 🥰
G'day Jan 👋🏻💖 That Pearl Oyster was really cool, wasn't it! It's a bit like the wing oysters you find 😲 I think wing oysters are called that because of their more stream-lined shape? Anyhoo! Thank you so much for watching 🥰
G’day Susan 👋🏻🐚 He he heeee that Textile Cone was lovely and large!! It’s been a while since I’ve seen a big one like that, either live or empty. Agreed, they are much more impressive than a paper fig 😉 Thank you so much for watching 🥰
G'day Bree 👋🏻🏖️ You had some really good luck down there, well done on your shelling trip 🐚 Oh the pearl oyster here was nice; did you find any as well? Thank you so much for watching 🥰
G’day Jeff 👋🏻🏝️ Ahhh, I think all cowries have had a rough time lately 😅 poor snails, those sub adults weren’t ready to wash up yet!! But yes, everything comes to an end, and then a sheller comes along 🐚 and I think that’s ok 😉 Thank you so much for watching another adventure on the wrack lines 🥰
G’day Fayetah 👋🏻🐚 Hello again to you in Texas 🇺🇸 Oh wow, the teeny tiny piece of pipe coral was the favourite 🤩 it’s cool to see it in the rock pools, it’s a rarity to have washed ashore. Thank you for watching the big mini adventure 🥰
Thank you Fayetah 🙏🏻 Ahhh yes, I recently saw a lot of Paper Fig shells in a Florida shelling video, and I felt a little envious 😂 you have really beautiful shells over near the Gulf of Mexico! So large, so different than the shells here. I hope you collected a few for decorations, they would be beautiful in your home 🐚 Thanks again for watching 💖
G'day Donna 👋🏻💖 Ohhh wow, so the Paper Figs pop up in SC as well 🤩 they're really beautiful shells, so delicate and a little different than the others around the coast 🏖️ worth being a favourite 😁 Thank you so much for watching 🥰
Hey Danielle 👋🏻🐚 Oh yes, but you don’t see them often. I actually saw a smashed one near Coolum once or twice, as well as a very old one once at Hervey Bay! They are around, and probably a more common shell than we realise, but they seem to be rare to wash ashore. Still, if we keep looking, then we will be sure to find them 🤩 Thanks for watching 🥰
G'day Natalia 👋🏻🏖️ Technically, I could legally take it home from this beach...but I'm too nice to do that 😳 I'm already very spoiled for shells as it is! The Textile Cone was indeed lovely 😍 I didn't see it again on my next trip; those fellas move around quite a large area in a short amount of time? It's nice to safely admire them when I do see them though. Thank you so much for watching 🥰
G’day Edith 👋🏻🐚 Ohh I feel like I remember you saying that before 😉 but which mini shells are the favourite?? I think I find dozens of small species here, so if there one that you end up liking the most? Thanks for watching 🥰
G’day Mary 👋🏻🏝️ I know, I know, I just need to find some tongs that won’t rust when they get salt water on them…the dollar store ones say stainless steel, but they obviously aren’t!! Yes, I think it is a Pacific Jewel Box lid. I might be wrong, but that’s the only thing I think it can be 😂 I feel like I need someone else to come along and fact check the shell names in almost every adventure 😅 with over 400 different shell species that I’ve found so far, I’m sure that some percentage of those names are not correct 🤣 Thank you so much for watching 🥰
@@SandCoffeeRocks I believe that you are very capable when it comes to identifying the shells. You also have a good group of shellers down there that support you. And you are learning all of the time and young. You’ve got this❣️
hi maddie ! your videos are so interesting....a little science and lots of marine beauty. Quick question....what is the orange spiraled shell in the back of your display to the left of the big commercial scallop ? it doesnt look like a mitre... I think you found it off camera. the years of learning shell names has been fun, though i'm in n. michigan and only find small zebra mussel shells and fresh water clams. A few snails too. thanks !
G'day Marcy 👋🏻🏖️ Hello to you in Michigan, thank you for joining me for so long 😲 and learning the names with me, I feel like it's been a process for everyone; viewers and myself. Hehe, I thought my videos are more able bumbling around and saying the occasional nerd stuff 😂 I'm thiiiiis close to renaming the channel as "Shell Nerd" 🤓 I'm not even kidding, I've been thinking of changing the channel name more and more lately, ahhh... Oh!!! The orange swirly shell, I know the one you're talking about; it was a last minute decision to cut that one from the video because I thought the episode was running for too long, and it is a common shell. It's actually a very, very large sized pheasant shell like what I usually find and display around the edges of the display in many episodes. Perhaps I should have left it in after all, it was much larger than usual for this species, so it was interesting in its own way 😅 of I ever restart making the outtakes videos on Facebook, then I'll put it there eventually, though I'm about 40 episodes behind on that endeavor. Ohh before I get sidetracked on another tangent, what kind of snails do you find? I'm assuming land or fresh water snails; do you ever find those big mystery/apple snails? They're super cool too!! Thank you so much for watching 🥰
@@SandCoffeeRocks hi again maddie ! thanks for your reply. I'm a shell nerd too, but with A LOT less shell variety. the snail species I find on the beach of this inland fresh water lake (ancient glacial) is the St. Lawrence pondsnail....1/2 inch long and usually bleached white. the invasive zebra mussels are one inch or less and have the coloring of a turkey wing before the sun bleaches them white. The freshwater clams are 3 inches or less, elong- gated, flat, and have beautiful nacre inside. I've actually been to Hervey Bay and found a 1/2 Propeller Arc and a Hercules Club (mud) Whelk.....I should have walked further down towards the mangroves ! pleaseeee continue to be your best shell 🐚 nerd self.....you have many fans.
I forgot to say that Pheasant shell was gorgeous and huuuuge !! I looked up the snail from Crystal Lake (near Traverse City, Michigan) and it's a Stagnicola Emarginata....looks like a small fresh water Periwinkle. thanks for all you do ! I also subscribe to SWF Beach Life and she collects on the gulf of Mexico in central Florida and Sanibel Island (check out the Sunray Venus Clams and small Wentletraps).
Hey Fi 👋🏻🐚 Oh no, you'd better arrest all of the four year old kids that pick up a shell souvenir on their school holidays 😂 I'll stop joking around now 😉 I don't know why you think it's illegal, or who told you that it is, but I can assure you that it's not illegal to take shells from most places around Australia. It's changes from state to state, and some areas are classed as "green zones" where fishing and shelling are illegal (small patches of some coastal areas, but the biggest is naturally the GBR). National parks don't allow for shell collections, but that also changes from state to state depending on the fisheries regulations; it's actually legal to collect shells from national parks in Queensland, though I don't think so in all other states 🤔 but I'd have to look into it. This is info I was given by a local national park worker here in Queensland, mind you. Overall, the recreational collection of empty shells is allowed almost everywhere other than those places, and certainly in the places where I collect from. So, next time you go to the beach, don't feel guilty for collecting a shell that you like, it's perfectly fine and acceptable ☺️ and if you're still unsure, you can call your state's fisheries department for more info (their website is a mess, at least for Qld, so you're better off talking to a real person for the answers). Thanks for watching 😁
@@SandCoffeeRocks I double checked it, what I found is not large amounts, like not over 10k, and not at all in marine reserve precincts and national parks. I used to spend a lot of time up port Macquarie and got told more than once - no shells, no nothing at all- maybe I was in some precinct. All I know now is that I want to go to Q and shell hunt!!!
@@fijaystudio Yessss Fi!!!! Be that glorious shell collector that you want to be!!! I have also read the 10kg (per day!!! That's still MASSIVE) is in NSW, I have never been able to find out what the bag or weight limit is for shells in Qld. Port Macquarie said that, huh? I looked online and don't see any Marine Parks there, though there are some in other sections of the NSW coastline. More info at www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/fishing/marine-protected-areas/marine-parks NSW has plenty of great shelling places! Some areas of Woolgoolga (I think parts are no collection zones, but others are totally fine) Hastings Point, Coff's Harbour or areas to the north of it, Yamba, these are just some places I've heard of for shelling, but I haven't visited them yet. Lots of areas in Northern NSW have wonderful shells and cowries. If you ever come to Qld to go shelling, then look at Hervey Bay and the Sunshine Coast; you can always send me a message if you want some local pointers to some safe collecting places 🐚 live your best life!!
G'day Maddie 😊😊😊👋 10:40 What a black caputserpentis, it looks very interesting😊 Now I practically don’t go in and watch videos, my RUclips has started to work very slowly 🐌🐢😂and the videos are loaded in poor quality🥴
G'day Mikhail 👋 This is a slow reply to you, I am so sorry! I was trying to get more educated about RUclips in your country, and see if I could flex any tech skills to suggest an improvement. I've said it before in another comment, but you really are a little stuck with things there... I'm so sorry that things are like this. I think RUclips is not going to be easy to watch for a very long time 🐢🥴 but as for the shells this time: that caputserpentis was still very wet in its shell material... the "black" is more like a shiny light grey now. Strange, the adult caputserpentis don't lighten out as much as this juvenile did! As always Mikhail, thank you so much for being here~
@@SandCoffeeRocks G'day Maddie 😊Thank you so much, Maddie! Yes, I just hope they don’t turn it off completely in the future😁And about caputserpentis, maybe young ones have a slightly different shell structure from adults, so they change color more when they dry out🤔

G’day Edith 👋🏻🐚 Ohh I feel like I remember you saying that before 😉 but which mini shells are the favourite?? I think I find dozens of small species here, so if there one that you end up liking the most? Thanks for watching 🥰
😊
G'day Trina 👋🏻🏖️ Hehe, thank you! And thanks for watching another big adventure 🥰
Hey Maddie! Tongs! Pack your tongs! I did like the Jewel box top. Was it a Pacific Jewel Box?
I'm a shell nerd too, but with A LOT less shell variety. the snail species I find on the beach of this inland fresh water lake (ancient glacial) is the
St. Lawrence pondsnail....1/2 inch long and usually bleached white. the invasive
zebra mussels are one inch or less and have the coloring of a turkey wing before
the sun bleaches them white. The freshwater clams are 3 inches or less, elong-
gated, flat, and have beautiful nacre inside. I've actually been to Hervey Bay and
found a 1/2 Propeller Arc and a Hercules Club (mud) Whelk.....I should have walked further down towards the mangroves !
pleaseeee continue to be your best shell 🐚 nerd self.....you have many fans.
I forgot to say that Pheasant shell was gorgeous and huuuuge !!
I looked up the snail from Crystal Lake (near Traverse City, Michigan) and it's a
Stagnicola Emarginata....looks like a small fresh water Periwinkle.
thanks for all you do !
I also subscribe to SWF Beach Life and she collects on the gulf of Mexico in
central Florida and Sanibel Island (check out the Sunray Venus Clams and small Wentletraps).
Wait, I’m Aussie. It’s illegal to take shells or sand or anything from beaches
G'day Maddie 😊😊😊👋
10:40 What a black caputserpentis, it looks very interesting😊 Now I practically don’t go in and watch videos, my RUclips has started to work very slowly 🐌🐢😂and the videos are loaded in poor quality🥴
