    Academy Award® winner Angelina Jolie directs and produces Unbroken, an epic drama that follows the incredible life of Olympian and war hero Louis "Louie" Zamperini (Jack O'Connell) who, along with two other crewmen, survived in a raft for 47 days after a near-fatal plane crash in WWII-only to be caught by the Japanese Navy and sent to a prisoner-of-war camp.
    Adapted from Laura Hillenbrand's ("Seabiscuit: An American Legend") enormously popular book, Unbroken brings to the big screen Zamperini's unbelievable and inspiring true story about the resilient power of the human spirit.
    Starring alongside O'Connell are Domhnall Gleeson and Finn Wittrock as Phil and Mac-the airmen with whom Zamperini endured perilous weeks adrift in the open Pacific-Garrett Hedlund and John Magaro as fellow POWs who find an unexpected camaraderie during their internment, Alex Russell as Zamperini's brother, Pete, and in his English-language feature debut, Japanese actor Miyavi as the brutal camp guard known only to the men as "The Bird."
    The film is produced by Jolie, as well as Clayton Townsend (This Is 40), Matthew Baer (City by the Sea) and Erwin Stoff (The Day the Earth Stood Still). Leading the accomplished behind-the-scenes crew is 11-time Oscar®-nominated cinematographer Roger Deakins (Skyfall).
    Academy Award® winners Joel and Ethan Coen (No Country for Old Men) rewrote the screenplay from earlier drafts by William Nicholson (Les Misérables) and Richard LaGravenese (HBO's Behind the Candelabra).
    Unbroken arrives in theaters on Christmas Day, 2014. www.unbrokenfilm.com

    This movie isn't about america VS japan!! its the story of a man who survived against all odds! 47 days at sea! with no food and little water against sharks and air strikes and then survived 2 years in a war camp after that ordeal, a war camp that could have been any war camp, all war camps were equally as cruel as the other, but since this is based off a true story they put the one he actually went to, this is all in the past and is not representing countries today, its about a man who survived! i watched a documentary about him and he is truly an extraordinary person

    Okay everyone in the comments needs to shut up. Nobody gives a crap if Japan hates this movie or that Angelina Jolie can't come to Japan anymore. I'm pretty sure she's ok with that. This movie isn't about how bad the Japanese were, it's about a badass mofo named Louis Zamperini. Do you know how many movies have been made about the stuff Germany did in World War II? A shit ton, but they don't flip shit in the comments and say that the director is lying and that this movie is anti Germany propaganda. No, because they know what they did and they're sorry and guess what? Because they accepted the consequences and realized what they did people don't hate them! I'm friends with a family from Germany and they don't freak out about what their country did. So #dealwithit Japan. You fucked up. Now man up and accept it. There is overwhelming proof and your country wasn't even close to being as bad as Germany but you still can't move on. Let the angry comments is crappy English and Japanese characters I can't read without Google translate roll in. By the way, by replying to this comment with something mean and hateful, you're just backing up everything is said :)

    He was asked to carry the torch at the olympics in Japan near the end of his life. A memorial was put up for all the pow's held there. The audiobook was fascinating and moving. He forgave his c aptors in the end. What a powerful story. Bickering about blame and who's the bad guy is immature and not the point.The story was brutally honest but it did not leave out the good acts ie: the kind guard or the ones uncomfortable interrogating or the good civilians that cared (that was in the audiobook..maybe the movie missed those parts. I haven't seen the movie yet). We all know we are all capable (all our countries have at one time been guilty of it) evil acts. None of us are without blame.Bickering is just pride and posturing and missing the very noble message in this story of forgiveness, healing and the strength of the human spirit..

    I see this movie as a rebel who starts to become better by being a runner and becomes a champion and after that's done he joins the army and their plane crashes on a deserted island but they find a way off the island by building the raft and they end up in a Japanese camp where they are forced to work but the main character does not follows the rules and learns from his experiences there. so that's why this movie i believe is worth watching because it called unbroken because even though their were a lot of thing that were trying to break him like being a rebel, getting stranded, and the Japanese camp he still didn't let that get the best of him and instead he let it help him become a better and changed man.

      Not mistakes, intentional crimes against humanity. Angelina told the truth and Japan had better deal with it or China will deal with it for them. Japan had better take responsibility for WWII as Germany did.

      Hanno Phoenicia Its sad that most of the non asian countries dont even aware of what Japan did during WWII against the asian countries ...Once they do some research, they will realize It wasnt so different with what Nazi did.

      Its not history as it happened. Yet another Hollywood film which depicts East Asians as cruel torturers (Pearl Harbour, Deer Hunter, etc)

    • @kl20231
      @kl20231 9 лет назад +2

      mshara1 Im keep seeing people saying that never happened, but im pretty sure that actually happened and it was probably much worst then what it's shown in the movie .. most of the East Asian countries, we have been through that stuff during Wll, therefore we know how Japanese were capable of and not even surprising to see this kind of movie coming out.
