Nothing to be sorry about. You can't control your emotions. That is one thing about Nightwish. They are not always sad emotions, but their songs do bring the emotions out. They have quite the mixture of emotions. I don't want you to be afraid what certain songs do to you. Go along for the ride and enjoy it. Take care......... :-)

If Tarjas voice hits you here already, then better try not "Walking in the air". It is one of these songs that hit you hard in the beginning, then evolve.
The first seven years with Tarja are almost like a different band than the last seven years with Floor, the voice and the musical style. It's almost like having two amazing bands to explore. I started crying when i saw if for the first time, the emotions in the performance, her soothing yet powerfull voice just hits perfectly, you know its a masterpiece when it can bring out that level of emotion

Don't get me wrong, Floor is awesome, but Tarja has this thing in her voice, it's like just listening to her makes you wanna cry. She adds so much sentimentalism when she sings, something I rarely see in singers. Great reaction!
Isn't it weird how we are all the same and yet we are all so different. To me, there is something in Tarja's voice that makes it unbearable for me to hear. Which really sucks because so much of their catalogue is in her voice. I wish I could love her. I really, really do. 🙁 I know she is so talented and I don't like to criticize anyone, but... well, there are just some for whom Tarja doesn't do it. 😢😭
Old Tarjaholic here. I have loved her voice since 1998, when I first heard Oceanborn album, and I strongly suggest to all you non-Tarjaholics, that start with it (and all the other albums as well). Tarja was better on albums. And while I love Floor also, there are many of these older songs, where I still prefer Tarja's dramatic voice.

@@xeleelex146 I love Floor's voice. In fact, she's one of my favorites. Simone's voice is pretty nice,but I feel it lacks that full-body richness that I seem to be drawn to. Anette's voice was far too "poppy" for Nightwish, but I think it lends itself well to different genres. And, of course, who am I to critique these talented women who've been honing their craft for a lifetime? No one, that's who.
There's no shame in reacting that way, man. The first time I saw this (only a couple of weeks ago), her first few notes hit me too, and I was in awe with tears in my eyes. It was my first exposure to Nightwish and to Tarja, and I was smitten. And no, that was not the worst reaction video. It was very good: raw, honest and genuine. I really appreciate that there are people like you who can be touched by such beauty.

I love Floor so dearly, but this particular performance is to blame that I'm hanging here with all of you NW folks. I've only been listening to Nightwish for a couple of months, the first day I listened to 8-9 songs and there were so many strong emotions so it was like a roller coaster in emotions I was totally physically and mentally exhausted and collapsed in bed and slept like a child. Normally the last 10 years I feel almost nothing every day I guess Nightwish has found one sensitive spot at least and that I'm not completely dead inside?.
to experience the absolute summit of ecstasy you must hear Tarja do "sleeping sun, swanheart, dead boy's poem and walking in the air" ... it will leave a permanent imprint on your soul...
This is the thing with people reacting to Nightwish mainly from Floor's "era", they instantly think she's THE thing (please note I'm not putting her down, long time Nightwish fan here, love both her and Tarja), but most forget that Nightwish was a band playing around since 1996, and Floor only joined in 2013, so were talking about a band with 17 years already under their belt when Floor joined, and one of the top bands in their genre aswell. So yeah, they have a HUGE catalog from before Floor's years, and most of them kick ass (well not Anette's, but let's not discuss that haha). That being said, your reaction is the kind of reaction one expects, you literally lost your train of tought the moment you realized the power of Tarja's voice, your face, emotions and body language speaks volumes more than what you can say. Great reaction man, you gained a subscriber.
"Sleeping Sun" is one of my favorites, and if you like Tarja's more lyrical singing, I recommend it. It seemed like you liked Marco's voice too, so for that my favorite is "High Hopes" (Pink Floyd's cover). I'm glad you liked it!

greetings, my friend..coming up against the formidable voice of Tarja Turunen is an incredibly exquisite experience replete with pleasantly shocking influence,,,whether in her early mezzo days , mixed vocals, as you were treated to here or the amazingly innovative techniques she developed in her solo career, the constant presence of greatness is so apparent...
Alex I also get emotional with goosebumps, hair standing on end, chills, and just in a state of awe. This is my favorite cover of the Phantom of the Opera. This was the first song I ever heard of Nightwish years ago. The second song almost a year later was Ghost Love Score live at Wacken 2013. I felt all those similar emotions when hearing Floor's vocals and yes she has even moved me to tears in a good way. Floor has become my all time favorite singer and Nightwish is the band I would most like to see live. It doesn't matter how many times I listen and watch the same songs I still get the emotions along with the chills.
I have watched so many react video's about this video and your reactions are best... I understand how you feel, i feel everytime same. 😉 It makes your eyes wet and you just can't say anything... Yeah is like people say is the tarja effect...and if you go to watch her gigs is just like an actual angel is singing to you and you focus on her only tbh. I love Nightwish with Tarja only cos, nothing wrong with Floor ofc, but Tarja voice it gives u chills. I remember when i first saw her like in person in 2007, photo and all, and every girl was fangirling and I was "no come on yeah I know she is awesome and beautiful but really crying?" and then when u just look at her and u just yeah i cry and was speechless and the only thing i say to her was "You are beautiful, I love you I...." and she was so nice and sweet.
No reason to feel bad. Tarja has an amazing talent and inspired Tuomas a whole lot. I've seen plenty of rough and tough looking guys that were like yea I never cry at videos and the same thing happened hehe. I have always been girlie and don't fit the traditional rock and metal look of the U.S. , so her strolling up in that gorgeous dress was emotional for me. I always love Floor's outfits too, they're just not as likely to be something I would look good in. ( I'm 5'6"...long way from a valkyrie XD )

@@ellenhunt8767 i see..thats what i always loved about Tarja..she was an elegant dresser which fit her role in those days as a mystical golden voiced Goddess but also served as an impediment in her dealings with the boys in the band who liked to party and tie one on to which she wasn't terrible well disposed...Floor on the other hand is much rougher on the outside and always dressed as a headbanger...and though it looks as though she is being relegated to a supporting role as a singer i still love her

Tarja set the stage. Like her or not, she left her mark on Nightwish. And I say this as someone who prefers Anette in the handful of songs specifically written for her, and Floor in about everything else.
Since you like these emotional songs, you have to check out Wintersun - Loneliness (Winter). It's one of the best metal ballads ever composed. Great reaction btw.
This version of Phantom of the Opera - performed by Tarja Turunen, Marco Hietala, Tuomas and the rest of the band -, is the best performance of Phantom of the Opera by Nightwish.. Many listeners think that Tarja was the the best singer of Nightwish. Some think that Floore Jansen is better... I, personally belong to those people, who think that Tarja was the best. Tuomas invited Tarja to join the band practcally directly "from the school bench, when Tarja was finishing her studies in singing.
Also the early Nightwish albums were in style of in your face guitar driven power metal with operatic voice. Back then guitarist Emppu was as much as the frontman in their performance as Tarja ever was, then later on when Marco joined both Tarja and Emppu toned down a little bit. Maybe it's how Tuomas composed the songs, but as it happens, when I decide to pop up a Nightwish cd I always go back to these three first albums, as they really are unique metal albums. Of Marco, everyone who has listened to Tarot before he joined Nightwish already knew how amazing lead singer he is.

I'm on tears many times when listening and watching Tarja's performances. Doesn't happen with anyone else. For NW-songs that give the stage on her vocals, "Swanheart" is a must (nice quality remastered video people have not yet found: ruclips.net/video/0sc-VNppXhs/видео.html). Not only a metal singer: classical and Christmas songs make a big part of her career. Yeah Marko is a very good singer too. When people suggest his songs, they say "High Hopes" and "The Islander". People think "The Siren" as Tarja's song, but it really isn't, it is actually Marko's song. And then there's plenty of songs like "Phantom of the Opera"where he has as much a role as the female lead. One rarely reacted such song is "Dead to the World."

Tarja is such a great vocalist. It is so sad that the cooperation with the band didn't work out. But I'm so happy that since 2013 they have Floor on board. She is absolutely phenomenal 🤘

Don't get me wrong, Floor is awesome, but Tarja has this thing in her voice, it's like just listening to her makes you wanna cry. She adds so much sentimentalism when she sings, something I rarely see in singers. Great reaction!
Isn't it weird how we are all the same and yet we are all so different. To me, there is something in Tarja's voice that makes it unbearable for me to hear. Which really sucks because so much of their catalogue is in her voice. I wish I could love her. I really, really do. 🙁 I know she is so talented and I don't like to criticize anyone, but... well, there are just some for whom Tarja doesn't do it. 😢😭
Old Tarjaholic here. I have loved her voice since 1998, when I first heard Oceanborn album, and I strongly suggest to all you non-Tarjaholics, that start with it (and all the other albums as well). Tarja was better on albums. And while I love Floor also, there are many of these older songs, where I still prefer Tarja's dramatic voice.

@@xeleelex146 I love Floor's voice. In fact, she's one of my favorites. Simone's voice is pretty nice,but I feel it lacks that full-body richness that I seem to be drawn to. Anette's voice was far too "poppy" for Nightwish, but I think it lends itself well to different genres.
And, of course, who am I to critique these talented women who've been honing their craft for a lifetime? No one, that's who.
There's no shame in reacting that way, man. The first time I saw this (only a couple of weeks ago), her first few notes hit me too, and I was in awe with tears in my eyes. It was my first exposure to Nightwish and to Tarja, and I was smitten.
And no, that was not the worst reaction video. It was very good: raw, honest and genuine. I really appreciate that there are people like you who can be touched by such beauty.

I've only been listening to Nightwish for a couple of months, the first day I listened to 8-9 songs and there were so many strong emotions so it was like a roller coaster in emotions I was totally physically and mentally exhausted and collapsed in bed and slept like a child. Normally the last 10 years I feel almost nothing every day I guess Nightwish has found one sensitive spot at least and that I'm not completely dead inside?.

The right reaction! Just the way I felt the first time I enjoyed it long time ago.
This is the thing with people reacting to Nightwish mainly from Floor's "era", they instantly think she's THE thing (please note I'm not putting her down, long time Nightwish fan here, love both her and Tarja), but most forget that Nightwish was a band playing around since 1996, and Floor only joined in 2013, so were talking about a band with 17 years already under their belt when Floor joined, and one of the top bands in their genre aswell. So yeah, they have a HUGE catalog from before Floor's years, and most of them kick ass (well not Anette's, but let's not discuss that haha). That being said, your reaction is the kind of reaction one expects, you literally lost your train of tought the moment you realized the power of Tarja's voice, your face, emotions and body language speaks volumes more than what you can say. Great reaction man, you gained a subscriber.
"Sleeping Sun" is one of my favorites, and if you like Tarja's more lyrical singing, I recommend it. It seemed like you liked Marco's voice too, so for that my favorite is "High Hopes" (Pink Floyd's cover). I'm glad you liked it!

Alex I also get emotional with goosebumps, hair standing on end, chills, and just in a state of awe. This is my favorite cover of the Phantom of the Opera. This was the first song I ever heard of Nightwish years ago. The second song almost a year later was Ghost Love Score live at Wacken 2013. I felt all those similar emotions when hearing Floor's vocals and yes she has even moved me to tears in a good way. Floor has become my all time favorite singer and Nightwish is the band I would most like to see live.
It doesn't matter how many times I listen and watch the same songs I still get the emotions along with the chills.

Yeah is like people say is the tarja effect...and if you go to watch her gigs is just like an actual angel is singing to you and you focus on her only tbh. I love Nightwish with Tarja only cos, nothing wrong with Floor ofc, but Tarja voice it gives u chills. I remember when i first saw her like in person in 2007, photo and all, and every girl was fangirling and I was "no come on yeah I know she is awesome and beautiful but really crying?" and then when u just look at her and u just yeah i cry and was speechless and the only thing i say to her was "You are beautiful, I love you I...." and she was so nice and sweet.

No reason to feel bad. Tarja has an amazing talent and inspired Tuomas a whole lot. I've seen plenty of rough and tough looking guys that were like yea I never cry at videos and the same thing happened hehe. I have always been girlie and don't fit the traditional rock and metal look of the U.S. , so her strolling up in that gorgeous dress was emotional for me. I always love Floor's outfits too, they're just not as likely to be something I would look good in. ( I'm 5'6"...long way from a valkyrie XD )

This version of Phantom of the Opera - performed by Tarja Turunen, Marco Hietala, Tuomas and the rest of the band -, is the best performance of Phantom of the Opera by Nightwish.. Many listeners think that Tarja was the the best singer of Nightwish. Some think that Floore Jansen is better... I, personally belong to those people, who think that Tarja was the best. Tuomas invited Tarja to join the band practcally directly "from the school bench, when Tarja was finishing her studies in singing.
Also the early Nightwish albums were in style of in your face guitar driven power metal with operatic voice. Back then guitarist Emppu was as much as the frontman in their performance as Tarja ever was, then later on when Marco joined both Tarja and Emppu toned down a little bit. Maybe it's how Tuomas composed the songs, but as it happens, when I decide to pop up a Nightwish cd I always go back to these three first albums, as they really are unique metal albums. Of Marco, everyone who has listened to Tarot before he joined Nightwish already knew how amazing lead singer he is.

I'm on tears many times when listening and watching Tarja's performances. Doesn't happen with anyone else. For NW-songs that give the stage on her vocals, "Swanheart" is a must (nice quality remastered video people have not yet found: ruclips.net/video/0sc-VNppXhs/видео.html). Not only a metal singer: classical and Christmas songs make a big part of her career. Yeah Marko is a very good singer too. When people suggest his songs, they say "High Hopes" and "The Islander". People think "The Siren" as Tarja's song, but it really isn't, it is actually Marko's song. And then there's plenty of songs like "Phantom of the Opera"where he has as much a role as the female lead. One rarely reacted such song is "Dead to the World."
