I installed one at my island cottage - a non-electric model with a slightly larger vent pipe . (Counterintuitively found myself on the roof of the cottage, in the rain, hewing a hole for that pipe and also wondering, “If I accidentally slip off the roof, connect my head with that slab of granite, would there be any sound if no one hears it ? None of my neighbours are on the island. Hmmmm And, since the motor on the boat was pooched, have I actually found my final resting place? I’d am happy.” The urine drained into a blue recycling box full of earth which quickly started growing wildflowers to show how happy it was. And, 100%, there was no odour other than a lovely wood shaving style of smell. Remember to use no cedar chips. The first time I used it at night was the weirdest thing! After over 50 years of girding my loins to make the trip UP to the John, this event was a pure luxury . The waste drawer was completely innocuous and it feels great NOT to waste all that clean water just to satisfy society’s strange obsession with wasteful habits. Highly, highly recommend the composting toilet . ‘Tis a massive shame that city and municipalities cannot get their behinds on this initiative . Next time you flush that toilet , think about all the tonnes of water we use to take care of a simply function .
If the toilet gets used relatively infrequently, maybe once a week or is left over the winter without use will it still work out? Does it require anything special to prepare for the winter without heat? TIA
Do you still have to vent the GTG outside? We have a bunkie that we only use for overnight guests and having a toilet is for those late nights and in the mornings only (our bathroom is open to the bedroom so not ideal for others poops in the morning-ha ha ha). This looks like it might be a great option! So if not used often/much, would that be a problem?
I hope my brother in law wins, December 8 2023 at 2 30 am. Someone. Kicked in his post office door, pout loss of gas throughout his post office and another door which lend to restaurant and hotel, and bar. Needless to say, we lost everything. Later on a few months later, we found out it was the neighbors who burnt everything down in our small little town of Rennie,Mb. The neighbor will be pleating guilty on January 25 and hopefully will get a long sentence. I'm hoping to help my brother in law a new bunkie post office. He lost everything inches tragic fire. You can read about the fire in December 8, 2023. I day we lost our town.
Great product
would you leave them in the outhouse in the winter?
Thank you for this video! I’ve been wondering about composting toilets
You are welcome, hope it helped :)
I live in my camper. I want to have a composting toilet.
Very cool option 😊
