I’ve been a fan of David since 1975. I am devastated with this tragic loss…. I played Smile and cried 😢also enjoyed Hiram Bullock perform…😢Rest in Peace🙏
He was surrounded by great musicians all the time . I hope he plays with Hiram Bullock up there. Thank you for fabulous music .RIP Mr David Sanborn. Nobody can replace him.
Hiram loved to walk through the audience and dance on the table. :D Once he even left the concert hall and went on playing from outside - totally together with the band. Rest in peace, Hiram, we miss you. ❤
Hiram really was a pioneer of great blues/rock chops with jazz vocabulary (easy to hear him in guitar players after him in NY and LA). It's really silly how effortless he plays running around that venue. Live clips like this and his Jaco Live in NY Vol. 2 really capture what perhaps some of his recordings only catch glimpses of.
David Sanborn changed my view of the saxophone. When I was a young player, listening to lots of people, practicing everything sounded just good until . . . I heard the Album Port Of Call! That was it! It permeated my soul to never ever leave again! Thank you, David!
For me it was the album Hideaway, I played sax from age 10 with aspirations of maybe taking it my career. David Sanborn helped me understand how completely inadequate my skills were. But I still love him.
Я никогда не встречался с Девидом Сенборном... Я живу в России, в Саратове. В 80-90 г.г. я слушал его игру и учился у него. Мне 64 года. Играю на альт саксофоне в церкви. Слава Богу!

These guys are having fuuun, great fun; they enjoy the joy they are feeding us with, especially the lead and bass guitarists. Sanborn is giving his very organic all as he soar heavenly with those winged altissimos.
That is the most awesome performance I've seen! Sanborn is one of my faves. This song is one of my all time favorites and it's nice to see a bad ass spin off of the original. Thanks!
Wow!!! I got chills at the very end! I've listened to this song 100 times since it came out on Sandborn's "Straight to the Heart" album. Then, I watched the Black and White video of that recording 20 times, loving every time. But.....THIS VIDEO BLEW ME AWAY! Everything about it, from David's great sax playing, Hiram and Steve's duet dancing with their guitars, and of course, Hiram's incredible solo, including how he plays with the audience, his animated faces, his one-handed playing, his stroll through the audience, and the finale with David and the band. I literally got chills. Thanks for posting this video. I'm only sad I didn't see it years ago. RIP Hiram.
Lucky enough to see his do this with Sanborn at the Greek Theater in LA around this time. He ran almost all the way back in the amphitheatre and was HUGELY entertaining and talented. The music he left...is fantastic.
Je suis française Hiram et moi nous sommes connus à Montreux on est tombé amoureux l'un et l'autre je m'appelle Angelina il m'a séduit qu'il repose en paix l'amour de ma vie
To be honest: I didn't dislike this song, but I do prefer the bands David had just a few years earlier, I particularly like the harsh and dingy DX7 keyboard sounds annoying. So yes, I much prefer David with Larry Willis or Don Grolnick on a Rhodes instead of Ricky Peterson's DX7, maybe with Marcus Miller on Bass, Buddy Williams on drums instead of Tony Smith, who was great with John McLaughlin (and Lou Reed), but not so much here.
@@belsha Well, the DX-7 ... many bands used it in these years and we don't know, if it was Ricky's decision or David's. 😉 Personally I prefer the Rhodes piano, but somehow the DX-7 Brings back great memories. 😆
absolutely amazing music hits the real core of our souls amen so inviting with pureness and safety my all time fav real close to straight to the heart always gave me a real freedom insight that love and happiness are gifts that only you and I can bring with a little help from joy which brings the intermeeting connection of the master magnificent creator brings us joy cause he is a loving fair gift giver joy comes from having the good true blue kind understanding heart !!!!! think it in the heart an so you will be the mind sticks at times so you go through stickin thinking until all is washed away cause you let your spirit work it think it traveled the spirt place and the magnificent exasperate is get those voices of words and rest it and get real silent just you and him oh how wonderful reality is its real all right a it up and down throw and throw its our study guild and lovely connection listening is the dimension ability for him and your peepes family friends listen no words they need your hearts ear that's all thank you david sanborn I saw you yrs ago man music center in philly second row I could see you blink feel for jazz that night fell in love with your music you are truly beautiful kind soft soul thanks for the music in six words it takes you for a ride
Oh my God! This is so fantastic and I love this so much! But given the date and time that this took place, is it possible cocaine may have been involved in any way?;-)

Who are the 2 tone deaf people who disliked this song. Maybe we can chip in and get them a hearing aid. This song is fantastic.
Now 10 people. Sheesh.
