I'm really not a fan of trying to map out which rides I want to ride 2 weeks ahead of time. Its better than trying to wake up at 7am but both systems are too much planning for my blood.
Waking up isn't the issue if you're already rope dropping. The big issue is that if you're close enough to the front when you tap and fingerprint into the park, you also had to book LL and VQ at that exact moment. Overall this new system is just limiting the amount of LL at Magic and Hollywood, which will make all lines faster for everyone.
@@athenagreen5390 I don’t think it’s going to limit the number of lightning lanes. There should still be roughly the same number for each attraction per day, they just won’t ever be available for the most popular attraction in each park
I tend to agree, I actually don't think it's very beneficial to plan your park days out a week ahead of time but it seems many others think differently. I have had such great luck with the current system and being able to stack later in the day. This new system makes me worry that in order to ride the same number of rides, we will have to spend an entire day in a park versus our current method of rope dropping, heading back to the hotel for lunch and a nap/pool time, and going back at night for all our stacked attractions 😟 Going to have to watch your videos when it goes live and make a new strategy before our next trip!

Would love for you to test whether booking a super early time slot for something and then just missong it will allow you to book your new 3rd LL from wherever you are ( eg in bed) We need to figure out a way to still stack in the evening for those of us who want to avoid rope dropping at all cost. Genie + was like a game i took great pride in winning at, so trying to figure put how to win at multipass. Also, would love for you to test if missing a LL will allow you to book the next at another park. Also, please test ho easy it will be to modify your 3 pre selected and then newly scheduled LLs to other parks/rides. I also assume that they will release more LLs on day of like they do now after seeing if the ride is working well that day. Assume they will likely add charcter meet and greets day of as well once they finalize staffing/ call outs for the day.
I think people will on average ride less rides this way. Yes you are going to ride three rides, but they will most likely each have a required hour window, so 9-10,10-11,11-12, so possible to only get one or two rides after this.
I think you'll be able to ride a plenty of standard tier rides. We'll have to wait until roll out to find out if you can ride multiple top tier rides in the same day
If I buy multi pass on the day I plan to use it (spot the international guest 😢) then do the tiers apply or could I pick 3 top tier slots if available (spot the international dreamer!).
I just booked my trip for early next year and I’m really excited for this change. As a planner I’m so happy to be able to make some reservations in advance and can plan out the day a little better. Hopefully it could help out with the zigzagging that you all do when trying to maximize. We shall see. Looking forward to all the new content you’ll be putting out.
Just remember that when your 7 day window opens that many of the spots will already be used up by the people coming 1 or 2 days ahead of you because they will be there just a bit earlier. You could be trying to get spots that have been closed before you even open the app.
So for hotel guests purchasing the 7 days in advance - will we be able to cherry pick which park days we purchase for, or do you have to purchase for the entire duration of your trip?
Very helpful video thanks. I don’t understand why Disney doesn’t just have a top tier fast pass that costs more but you can book three rides in advance and at an increased time in advance?
Thank you for the uodate Quincy. If possible, when you get all the info, can you do a video for just passholders. It sure would help. We will be in the MK on July 29th of this year. Thank you Chris
Terrified at how much time they will give you to complete all transactions before timing out, especially on first day. I know what two of my multi pass choices will be and thr two single passes I want but worried about doing it all in one shot when my reservation is July 31 so I’d be reserving on July 24, the first day of the new system. I’m 76 and don’t have very fast fingers. It sounds like you wouldn’t be alble to book the multi pass, check out and then go back and do single pass on separate transactions or do you disagree. Thanks Quincy for calming me down on this.
Yeah, I’m also wondering about how it will work to pick your times and then check out. I’m assuming you’ll pick your times and they’ll be held for 5-10 minutes while you finish the transaction, but it would really suck to be mid-transaction and to get an error because your time is no longer available.
I'm going to Disney world in September but live in England UK, I don't drive cause I've got low vision eye sight (partially sighted/blind), I was hoping to buy genie plus (now becoming lightning lane) only if park is busy, I am not an early bird so hoping to buy this on same day but later in day (maybe 10-11am say), will this work in my favor or will I miss out and be no lightning lanes available. From Abi
As an Incredi-Pass Holder AND staying at a Disney Resort Hotel in November, can we still make reservations 7 days in advance? We have already made our Park Reservations for each day. Since we can also park hop as an AP, will Lightening Lane Multi-Pass recognize that we can jump to another park after the first lightening lane is used?
I didn’t even think about this. Every park day you go will be overlapped by people who have booked the day prior to your arrival. Meaning they will have all the good rides taken. I wonder if Quincy will touch on this subject.
*NEWSFLASH* 98% of those using Genie+ were already up anyway getting ready to travel from their hotel and rope drop between 7-9am. All this does is make it more uneven with people spread out across multiple days to make their first selections.
I see attractions in the tier lists, but will character meet and greets still have Lightning Lanes? Would love a video about how to maximize the service in all the parks and how it works into rope drop strategy. Maybe a video about how to plan that perfect day 7 days in advance.
I'm going to WDW for an 8 day trip starting July 24th! So now I need to book my entire vacation plans the morning I'm arriving on vacation. How stressful and annoying. Thank you for all the info!
This really caters towards resort guests, as resort guests get to start reserving spots a full 7 days in advance, while non-resort guests can start only 3 days in advance.
I agree. I can see people feeling like they are being forced to pony up the money to stay on property, if they have any chance of riding any of the more popular rides.
How do you think AP holders feel? At least non-resort guests on date based tickets can book their whole trip in advance. APs have to go day by day. I feel really bad for locals who want to join family / friends from out of town on their Disney trips since there's little chance they'd be able to get coordinated LLs.
It depends on the situation of course but staying off site really isn't worth the hassle. You save money but that's it but the hassle and hoops you have to jump through are just not worth it IMO.
So, I would now need to know days in advance exactly which parks and what time I want to arrive, have fewer rides to choose from, no characters, no shows, and can't stack multiple rides... How is this better? Please explain how needing to preplan my entire trip, having fewer options, and not being able to stack 4-5+ rides is better?
You'll honestly have a better time with the current system. More LL opportunities and no tiers. When my friend and I went earlier this year, we never waited more than an hour. We got (almost) everything done that we wanted to do and even got several rerides on our favorites (with careful planning of rope-drops and extended evening hours, of course).
Another question. Since the change is in the middle of our trip, we have to wait until 7:00 on 7/24 to get LL for that day and the rest of our trip? So much for any WDW resort benefit 😢
I don’t want to rush to judgement but wow this sounds awful. Genie was amazing and I always got on every ride I wanted. Now I feel like everything will be gone before I even get a chance to get something. Plus you were up early for a park day anyway now I have to be up early a different day on top of that? Not cool, but will try to reserve judgment until it’s out.
I didn’t realize Disneyland’s Genie+ was different than WDW. I’m planning on going when Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opens. I mastered Genie+ on my WDW cause of you guys but knowing it’s not the same at DL I’d a bummer.
Not at all looking forward to waking up at 4:00 am here on the west coast and planning out my entire week at Disney in advance. Not a fan of this change at all.
As always you guys are amazing! Thank you for the crash course. I have a question, we’re going to Orlando in August, half of my party is international and I’m in the US. Can I buy the LLs for the international part of my group when I buy mine?
Our 2 week trip at a value just with eating quick service meals is going to be $20,000 AUD from Australia . If I get there and they’re unable to do any rides, I’ll be delivered. What a waste of money.!!!!
So disappointed, basically a difficult paid for fast pass. As a UK visitor can’t even take advantage of being a resort guest because we can’t buy until on US soil. Also confused why I can buy a Fireworks package for Spice Road table from the UK but not lightning lanes??
It seems like disney hotel guests will have a huge advantage over passholders or anyone else who cannot book until three days out. All of the rides I like pirates, haunted, seem like they will be gone by the time I get to book? Also top tier rides like Flight of Passage will only be available though SINGLE purchase? this doesn't sound great at all.
If you don't use your first lightening lane selection and it goes away, can you still book a tier 1 attraction? For example, you want to go to the park later at Epcot, you book figment for 9am, don't head to the park till 11 but you have Remis for 11. Can you book frozen or Soarin around 10ish when figment goes away?
Thank you so much for the video! I've read a lot about the new system, but this straightforward, clear explanation is very helpful. There is one question I can't seem to find an answer for, though- do you know if advanced reservations can be made "out of order" for the days of your trip? For example: If you have a hotel reservation and are booking 7 days in advance for a trip scheduled from Monday through Friday, do you have to book everything for Monday first, then Tuesday, etc, or can you book Thursday first, then Tuesday, then Monday, etc?
I had a plan to early entry rope drop animal kingdom to ride flight passage for free a couple of times and also park hop over to Epcot that same day and try to ride guardians a couple of times also because of the extended hours thatday. Hoping to reserve guardians and still start my day at Animal Kingdom. Can’t wait for your next video. Thanks.
What if you have two separate reservations for Disney resorts , but one continuous stay (ie, checking out and checking into next resort on same day)? Will it open for entire length of stay (for both reservations )?
So I have Disney trip at hotel with 4 park hoper tickets with my hotel reservations and I’ll have two single day ticket how will this work will I be able to book my single day tickets when I book my other I’ll still be a Disney hotel
We are staying at a delux disney resort and are travelling from the UK. We don't land until 3 days before our planned disney park days so we can't take advantage of of the 7 day advance booking window. Can we ask a friend who lives in Orlando to log in to my disney experience app and make the bookings for us instead when the 7 day window opens?
And it's got the only "fix" that FastPass actually needed in the first place: Cost, to discourage the possibility of way too many people getting it, and making the Lightning Lanes longer waits than the regular lines.
Hey Quincy, what about people whose arrival day is before mine? Won’t that mean they will already have all the good rides booked before I can even try?
Sorry I’m still confused when it comes to booking this early. And I am Not doing park hoper can I book 3 lightning lanes per park like 3 on this day and 3 for the next day or ………?
When can I book if I have a multi date based ticket but AM staying at Disney resort? We have student group tickets and staying onsite with my daughters dance team
How does virtual cue factor in to all of this? Can you rope drop guardians or Rise of the resistance or only individual lightening lane or virtual cue? Thanks!
This will not change how Virtual Queue works. Guardians is expected to continue to use a virtual queue. Rise does not use a virtual queue so you could rope drop.
Slinky and Remys will be constantly gone, unless they hold some and release them in phases like concert tickets. The biggest question is whether this will work like Genie (2hr cool down) once you use your first one. If you can’t stack, then this will be a net negative.
@@AllEarsNet Thanks, that’s the first time I’ve actually heard someone definitively say one way or another. If you can always hold three, that may be workable, but it still seems like A LOT more planning and less flexibility than Genie. This seems like it will be a downgrade (less available lightning lanes and a lot more planning and work), but I’m hoping I’ll be pleasantly surprised.
We need All Ears to lobby Disney on behalf of the international guests (aside from Canadians). We cannot make advance reservations until we are in US or Canada. We don’t arrive in the US until the day of our first night of the resort stay. By that time, all the good rides are going to be booked out for the first week of our trip. We pay not only THOUSANDS for our stays of two weeks (usually… so stay even longer)… but we pay THOUSANDS MORE for our flights. And Australians travel for almost 36 hours to get there! Why should we be treated so shabbily?
We will be staying one night at a Disney resort to take advantage of the park perks, and this rolls out the week before we stay, which we stay on July 31, checkout August 1st. Will we still be able to book 7 days in advance if we are in Magic Kingdom on the day we checkout, August 1st? We were going to stay at the resort to take advantage of the Genie Plus option, but that now will be changing right before our trip. Thank you for your videos and for helping.

Thank you
Chris
If you book it for your upcoming trip, do you have to buy it for all days? How will that work?
So helpful, thank you!
Good chance when your 7 day booking window is here rides will be sold out by people who ordered days before you get a chance.
yup. It'll be best for people going for long vacations on property, and even then you'll be best served by focusing LLs on the final days of your trip
I didn’t even think about this. Every park day you go will be overlapped by people who have booked the day prior to your arrival. Meaning they will have all the good rides taken. I wonder if Quincy will touch on this subject.
@@andrewjessee5878 no blogger has yet to address it
@@joecross1561 that can still overlap with people who booked before you
I understand now 🤔
*NEWSFLASH* 98% of those using Genie+ were already up anyway getting ready to travel from their hotel and rope drop between 7-9am. All this does is make it more uneven with people spread out across multiple days to make their first selections.
Will there still be a non-paid virtual queue for a single pass?
I see attractions in the tier lists, but will character meet and greets still have Lightning Lanes? Would love a video about how to maximize the service in all the parks and how it works into rope drop strategy. Maybe a video about how to plan that perfect day 7 days in advance.
Disney hasn’t said officially one way or another. We just know that character meet and greet parades were not included in the list released by Disney.
@@LaLunaLadythat’s why the only Disney park I will visit in my next trips is Magic Kingdom. Universal nowadays is so much better.
Resort guests coming from within the US
It depends on the situation of course but staying off site really isn't worth the hassle.
Ta here, we heard from our rep that Disney released that Canada will be included for Disney Resort guests to book 7 days in advance :)
My trip is 7/13-7/22-I just miss this! Bummer 😢
Me too!!😢
You'll honestly have a better time with the current system. More LL opportunities and no tiers. When my friend and I went earlier this year, we never waited more than an hour. We got (almost) everything done that we wanted to do and even got several rerides on our favorites (with careful planning of rope-drops and extended evening hours, of course).
Don't be upset. I think it is easier now...and there are lower crowds right now, too.
This is happening 3 days before our trip, and now I have to go back to Disney University, AKA RUclips videos, to try and learn this new system now. 😢
I wish Guardians in Epcot would get a stand by line. I love the ride and want to ride it over and over again.
My Disney visit is before July 23rd, so you’re saying I still have to use the old Genie +😑
Not at all looking forward to waking up at 4:00 am here on the west coast and planning out my entire week at Disney in advance. Not a fan of this change at all.
Quincy!!! you spoke the truth.. this was the best explanation i've seen yet and even made clear a couple points i wasn't aware of. Thanks!!
How is this going to impact AllEars challenges?! Less stacking seems possible
Do we know yet if the meet and greets or Fairytale Hall will be included? They aren't on the attraction list for this but they are for Genie!
It looks like Lightning Lanes have been removed for character options.
Seems like a double edge sword because what if something happens and you can’t get that fast pass you booked?
I hope they sort out booking for international visitors 😣😣😣 does Disney not care about us?!
From an example that I saw you will be shown a calendar & you pick your date - so you could probably book in any order.
What if you are staying at a hotel AND have a date based ticket (Military Salute tickets) when can you book?
I had a plan to early entry rope drop animal kingdom to ride flight passage for free a couple of times and also park hop over to Epcot that same day and try to ride guardians a couple of times also because of the extended hours thatday. Hoping to reserve guardians and still start my day at Animal Kingdom. Can’t wait for your next video. Thanks.
This video was SO great and super helpful/informative! Thank you Quincy!
What if you have two separate reservations for Disney resorts , but one continuous stay (ie, checking out and checking into next resort on same day)? Will it open for entire length of stay (for both reservations )?
Do you need to buy it for everyday?
Are virtual cues still a thing? If yes, the I still bave a 7 a.m wake up. Or do we have to pay to ride the tlp tier rides?
So I have Disney trip at hotel with 4 park hoper tickets with my hotel reservations and I’ll have two single day ticket how will this work will I be able to book my single day tickets when I book my other I’ll still be a Disney hotel
I thought i saw they were allowing our Canadian friends to book in advance even out of country.
@@CrystalMontvid yes Canadians can book from home
What about Disneyland?
By far- the BEST and most informative video yet!
This took time and effort on your end- Thank you!
Will be back to see what happens 07/24.
Soooooooo.... They're basically bringing back the Fast Pass system that worked to begin with and they decided to "fix"!!!
And it's got the only "fix" that FastPass actually needed in the first place: Cost, to discourage the possibility of way too many people getting it, and making the Lightning Lanes longer waits than the regular lines.
Can you get a refund if you decide you don’t want to use it/change plans for the day of booking?
Hey Quincy, what about people whose arrival day is before mine? Won’t that mean they will already have all the good rides booked before I can even try?
My thoughts exactly
One edit for you to add - Canadian travellers will also be able to book in advance of landing in the US.
There is no 2 hour cool down. You can always hold up to 3 and if you have used one, you can book another.
Good job
Have you heard if they will still be doing the virtual queue for Guardians and Tron?
This change is not expected to affect Virtual Queue
You should be able to book for both check in day and check out day 7 days before check in day.
I just got the hang of genie plus (in preparation for a trip in 2025 😂) so at least I have time to get this down pat before then! Also Quincy, you’re so pretty
Will you guys post a video or an article explaining more about how this will work in Disneyland? I’d love to try and become an expert for my family when we go during the holidays but last time I was there they still used free fast passes 😂
Disneyland's system is actually staying the same as it was with Genie+! It's just getting the name change.
@@AllEarsNetOh that’s so helpful thanks! I didn’t quite understand the wording in the video so that’s great to hear!
But character meet and greets are missing!! 😭 Standby lines only now i guess 😞
What about character meet and greets???
Character meet and greets have been removed from the Lightning Lane list
Will I be able to book Lightening Lane for all in my party, and if yes, how?
There are 14 of us in my travel group. Is there a limit of how many people I can book for?
Thank you for this video. The international rule worried me but luckily Canada doesn't fall into that
I noticed that character meets are not on the list. Is LL gone for them overall? Or is it one you can only book once you’re in park?
They have removed the Lightning Lanes from character meet and greets as well as a few parades and shows.
What about virtual queues? Any changes coming to that system?
no changes to virtual queue!
