Yeah, they changed the second phase to Metal Sonic Kai in a patch. The boss in the video was how Metal Sonic was on release.

I’m confused because when I did this boss he got given a pink crystal or something and turned into a giant mech
I know I've played this so much that I remember the mech phase was part of this boss
It was changed in an update
That pink crystal is the Phantom Ruby that is seen in the beginning of the game
it was an update that removed the giant wall and replaced it with giga metal sonic
