  • Here I’m reviewing a snappy spring core Blackjack made by artisan Mike Kondratko! Amazing leatherwork covers a spring frame with a cast lead head. This gorgeous two tone leather is tight without being “creaky” and stiff enough for that signature blackjack “snap” when wielded. The length from the tip to the butt end is around 7.5” and the overall weight is 10oz, and perfectly balanced for a smaller blackjack!

I’m making my first blackjack right now. Learning to do the leather knots around the head and the strap fixing is the hardest part!

I used to see these portrayed in cartoons and comic books all the time when I was a kid in the 1960s, but I didn't really understand what they were, since I had never seen one in real life.

showing how to hold it and talking about the strike point being back of the hand to unarm them was well said friend.

Were it a weapon it wouldn't be wrapped in leather.
