So the first few minutes are wonky, and I'm not sure how to fix it, lol
Also, the movie name is A Knights Tale! 😂
I just watched “The Daily DIYer” video about Dollar Tree “command hook” hacks. She stored sooo many items on the inside of cabinet doors ( like measuring spoons)and outside (like kitchen towel). Couldn’t believe how affordable a multi pack was.
Throw the boxes ,It will help you see your progress, keep only 1 crock pot. eggs can be cooked in a sauce pan, You will appreciate the space.
Try to do 1 box a day and give yourself grace. It will eventually be how you love it.
I think we all make a mistake of moving too much stuff with us, only to have to toss it later.
I know I’m late to this party, but Libby all you need is four plates 4 cups and 4 mugs even 2. It’s just you and your baby. I pray everything works out for you. ❤❤❤ I love your videos.
Join your local buy nothing group and put an "ask" up for a step stool or ladder.
Ditch the egg cooker you only use a couple times per year, sell the Pioneer Woman impractically small crock pot, ditch the mini one you didn't even realize you had and don't bother with those magnetic spice jars- they aren't large enough to hold the full bottle of spice so you end up having to store spice bottles anyway lol!!! I also saw that you have a food processor AND the blender; do you need both? A good blender can process a lot of things and a good processor can blend a lot of things. Just some random thoughts to bounce around - multitaskers in favor of unitaskers when it comes to small appliances is key in a small space :)
An instant pot would be a good thing to have I have a tiny kitchen love mine can do much in them
If your landlord allows you to build shelves around the top of the kitchen door, all the kitchen walls going across would help you put everything from the kitchen and then some. In addition you can buy a floor to ceiling cabinet or metal shelf with wheels that you can add more shelves need be for your pantry. Last but not least, either a fold away table with foldaway chairs like a bistro for you and your son to eat at. That way, when you are not eating, everything can easily be put away so you can have room to walk around in the kitchen.
For your hard to open kitchen drawers
Rub a wax candle on the drawer tops. Don’t light the candle just use the wax. It will make the draw slide really easy. I hope I explained it to where you can understand.
Perhaps you could put items per room together like kitchen things, living room things. Someone mentioned getting rid of the boxes, yes they take up space, I would unpack things, you might even be able to declutter a bit since you won't need as much stuff. New beginnings are good!
Isn't it so much nicer to be at the unpacking stage rather than the terribly stressful packing stage! Success! And now you have done it you are already talking about getting rid of more stuff because you can see it will be too hard to keep it all.
I do hope you can work something clever out for that weirdly tall thin cupboard. It could be so useful.
You have high shelves inside your cabinets, get those rubber coated wire shelf risers. Bowls can slide under, with plates on top, etc. They’re great for mugs and can goods too.
I have these in my cabinets and pantry and LOVE them. I also have the wire baskets that slide under the shelves. I put Jello, small packets of sauces, basically anything that fit.
Did you think about a couch that folds to out to a bed
I find everything adorable too. Now I have to tell myself, just because I love it and think it’s so cute doesn’t mean I have to have it. I can admire something and keep walking sometimes. I say, where will I put it and do I really need it? That helps sometimes. Im still on a quest to declutter more.
Sorry to say this Libby, you are now a family of 2 people, living in a small apartment, so how many mugs and coozies do you really need? 100 is waaaaaay too many. Even when you have guests, will you ever need more than 4 at a time? So keep 8 just in case. And no one I know uses more than 1 crockpot at a time.
Get some over the door storage units. For the kitchen, bathroom and even the bedroom.
Hi Libby, I'm from Australia and love your channel. You are an inspiration, have worked through so much and love your little man so much. Is so nice to watch and live through the ups and downs with honesty, integrity and cry thru the hard times. Loving seeing you smile and happy. You deserve the best and wishing you all the best in your new chapter. You are beautiful, strong and loved.
Sliders (moving furniture around; IE slide it around) plastic storage bins (Dollar,Tree- wire cart & under the sink), hanging racks (Aldi; plastic wrap, tin foil, ect) E books are the best; you don't need to remember to return them. A small storage container in the awkward cabinets; small bins in the bigger bin to divide & separate. Keep all your stuff in the basement in a plastic bins; not clear though.Hanginhg rack for spices; hang on cabinet door. Magnetic racks on the side of the frig.
Consider going to Walmart or Target to purchase the contact paper for the cabinets. Also, you can purchase a new toilet seat to replace the old.
Buy a 2 step stepstool it comes in handy for your high cabinets and closet shelves ❤ God Bless you and your son
For each box you open, fill one to go, and take it away. I have to declutter too. I can only take one or two bags away at a time as no transport. Try to put a time limit on each small task. Like empty one box per day. Good luck.
Libby I was you a few years ago
..I'm new to your channel so I binged watch some of your videos😢 I'm so sorry for abuse you started out with ....but you have a whole new life waiting for you now!! So let's start with where you are!! I love this part...you have a lovely place to begin with....make this home about you and Kelly...give him the room make the lounge your space bed stting room ....if you need to entertain do it away at moms house or sisters house till you find your feet...you can be very comfortable if you don't right...if you want to meet your friends find a nice coffee shop
The living room, go to IKEA, and they have tons of bookshelves with doors where you can store bins with labels. On top of the bookshelves go things you hardly use. You can buy as many as you are able. If they are too expensive, you can go to Home Depot and have planks of wood cut 1- 1 half foot wide. They will be your shelves, you might need (2) 4x4 inches or (2) 4x2 inches poles for each wall, and you will put shelves onnail them securely on the wall. If you can't do it, ask a handyman to do it for you. Make as many shelves as you need. If the whole wall to wall shelving units are a bit too much, you can always put a nice curtain over it and out of sight, out of mind. In small places, it's best to build up and not the conventional way.
Add a cutting board over the stove and you can have your crockpot out. The kitchen isn't small, it's a working space. Enjoy your new home.💖💖
Before you throw out the box for the PW crockpot return it to Walmart since you said it was so small. Maybe put the money (or credit) towards that storage shelf you want for the microwave. And it declutters something 🥰.
I literally started watching you, You are Awesome, I was a Single Mom myself
As for the crockpots, you have 3. For 1 adult and 1 child. Seriously think through what you will realistically make for yourself and your son in a crockpot and pick the *one* that will work the best for you. Get rid of the tiny one and whichever of the other 2 is less practical, even if it means getting rid of the cute, new one! (It's very true that selling a new one in its original box will bring the best price.) This way of thinking through items, how often they're used, etc can be utilized for all kinds of things (like your mugs) as you decide how much will fit into this place. You might even try keeping many of your kitchen things in boxes for the next couple of months. When you need or want them, take the items out and use them, then put them into a cupboard. At the end of a few months, the items you haven't used (that aren't highly sentimental or holiday/seasonal) are the ones you can quickly declutter.
Hi Libby, for the hard to reach places in the cabinets, put things you use once in a while. Things such as paper towels, kitchen cleaners (backup) napkins pots and pans you use once in a blue and everything in between that you use but not regularly.
For the mugs, they have little metal shelves that fit inside the cabinet so you can stack up mugs, plates, and other little things to maximize the cabinet shelf.
My sister would not get rid of any of her sons Lego box’s in case she wanted to sell them later in the end when l was trying to help her sort a bed room out with lots of those boxes in she did agree to undo the sellotape very carefully and we flatten the boxes and put them behind the wardrobe and a few small boxes were allowed to go in the recycling bin 🎉ara you are doing really well best wishes from Lynda in rainy England. Bye for now.
I am 54 and I read the little house on the Prarie books when I was a kid ! On Father's day we went to good will and I saw a few of them and they were yellowed pages and apparently the old edition.
I really believe you need to declutter as you go . Lots of stuff for small space .
Taking another look at the kitchen, it's best if you buy a coffee table that lifts to make it into an eating table so you can eat in the living room where there is more space.
Magnetic hooks for your fridge for towels & hot pads
Keep what brings you joy and useful! You need some space around you and in 3 years you can hopefully find a 2 bedroom one. Just get rid of extras. You can find or buy other stuff when you get to that point!
Hi Libby ❤
I am in a small space and discovered that free-standing storage and cabinets and shelving is best with doors.
It's visually more appealing to not see all the little stuff.
Goes a long way toward making the space appear less cluttered.
I am glad you aren't on all the deadlines you had while you were making the move.
Be well.
Hope to see you again soon.
Take inventory of the things you really use. You need empty spaces to bring you peace and tranquility. Clutter house = clutter mind 😉 you will see that with less stuff you’re going to see things in a different perspective. Purge! It will make you feel better, less things, less to clean up, less procrastination, more time for you and your kiddo! Take advantage of moving to a new place to develop new habits. You can’t keep doing the same thing expecting different results! I’m sure things will get better for you! You can do it!! God bless you
It is very small - but it's got a taken-care-of air about it. Sometimes that's hard to judge from a video - so please set me right if I'm wrong there! I'd give priority of cupboard space to items you love and absolutely will not do without come heck or highwater! Then if there's any space left the very best of what's left - everything give a very hard look at!
Though! Saying all that, maybe do that in stages - get yourself set up to live - then you and little one do nothing but enjoy each other's company - watch great movies - sleep a lot - go out with family and friends - get a little bit of puff back - then go on to each of the steps with lots of rest in between.
This comment is getting ridiculously long - but I just have to add - that I read many years ago that the most stressful life events are - the death of a loved one - divorce - and moving. It really makes you understand how stressful and traumatic moving can be in and of itself to be listed as third under those two other life shattering events - and right now you are going through two of those events. So gentle is the way - every a very gentle schedule! Streaming when you're actually working through - that's brilliant!
They sell shelves that go on counters. You can use on top of fridge for more shelves . Maybe hanging basket for fruit so you save counter space.
Use vertical space as much as possible :) google some tips for small space organization
I am a new viewer and I’ve absolutely loved your videos. You are so relatable and even in hard times you seem to really pull things together. Once you have all of the finishing touches, it will feel like home again.❤❤
God bless u and your son u have it girl.
I ordered a tall cabinet from Amazon. We put it together. It’s a life saver for a small kitchen. Stores all dry goods and food. Had to out it in Dining area but it works. And you can close the doors and hide the mess. It’s very cute. And not too expensive.
A baker's rack. They have shelving and a place for your microwave. Could make it your coffee center and hang mugs, etc. Check out maybe your local consignment//used furniture store....or neighborhood marketplace for a bargain on one?
You could put a bakers rack for your microwave, crock pot, etc.
Congrats on your new apartment Libby! You did great getting rid of a lot of stuff and I'm sure you will get rid of more but don't beat yourself up for moving more than you probably should have. Find what you can find space for and then weed out some more. I do the same thing when I move. Always move too much and end up getting rid of stuff that doesn't fit in the new place and end up getting other things that will work. Work in progress. When you were talking about your mugs I was going to suggest rack in the corner where your mixer is until you said you had 100 mugs. I had to belly laugh at my poor idea.😂
I put my canned goods and a lot of other stuff on metal shelving because I didn't have enough cupboards. Works fine
Congrats on moving! You look happy! It’s so hard unpacking and takes time but you’re making good progress. Good luck setting up the living room and bedroom! I love chocolate too! Enjoy your treats because you’ve earned them!! I wasn’t able to chat live with you but I enjoyed watching and seeing the new place. Have a great week! 😊
You will get it all straight! Rome was not built in a day! Give yourself some grace!
I stacked upper cabinets on top of each other to make one tall cabinet works great
Hi just started to watch your channel. You are going to make . Don’t worry about it.
Also get some vacuum bags to put stuff that you’re not using.
And you also may just have to declutter again.
Could even put mugs on little shelves you can reach . In doorway or back in little space near that small pantry. Also get an over the door hanging shoe Thang with mesh slots. Will hokd cleaners or baking goods anything. Batteries, what ever you need. They are good fir bedroom, bath or any door to provide more stirage. I have 2 of them.
It might not be the most pleasing to the eye, but an over the door shoe organizer can hold measuring cups and spoons along with food packets and spices. That would also free up space in drawers and cabinets.
On the inside of the door it would be a good idea. Space saver.
Magnets on the side of the frig will hold hot pads out of the way but right at hand
Libby. Don’t be hard on yourself 😊 take your time unpacking . Focus on organizing a bit daily, it will all get done 😊
Still watching but I wanted to mention how lovely those plates are!
You could mount shelves over the doors also.
Try using the broom closet as a broom closet And the upper shelves for pantry items
Maybe you need a bakers rack w.shelves for kitchen?
You can get a portable washer an dryers washer hook up to a sink ..
Check out some corner cabinets, might work on wall by the sink without blocking the walkway.
You are so pleasant. I pray your RUclips channel grows and grows to make like easier for you. 😊
Thank you for doing a live missed it was at work. Your place will be easy to organize toss out what you don't need I had lots of questions but it seems they were answered by your answering questions from live. Enjoy your new home
You could look for a baker’s rack. It would hold the microwave and have shelves about it
Lindt!!! Chocolate
I love princess bride when van dam dressed as a women says “tempted but no” is my favourite quote ever ! Try reading Eragon by Paulo something it’s a brilliant book and has several sequels . Lovely to see you looking and sounding settled and happier ❤️😁🇬🇧
I admire you, you are so positive and everything will work out for you xx
I’ve watched this just now I really appreciate you doing a long unpacking video. Can I please suggest (if you can) take that $170 you were spending on a storage unit, put it in a savings account! Imagine in a year you’ll have just over $2k saved up ! Much love Jenny 🇬🇧
Get an unused bar of soap and rub it on top of your drawers that are hard to open
The existing pantry is too small for you and your son. We are living in difficult times, and we all need to stock up as much food as we can afford. Instead, use that pantry as your utility closet. It will be very useful. You can also put all your cleaners, wash detergents, etc.
Maybe some shelves near doorway! Higher up so you do not bump it. You coukd put canned stuff up there. Or whatever. Get narrow shelves. Like 4 inches or so!
Congratulations 🎊 🎉 on the packing all to move to the new home. Congratulations on moving all into your home. Congratulations on working hard through it all. 👏 I m proud of how well you are doing. ❤ from Scotland. I've been watching a lot, i just don't comment 😅
I’ve moved this heavy coffee table from Cali to Ne and like 4 times in Nebraska. I haven’t even been using it for about 5 years. I wish I could I love it.
I just started watching u ,I love it u are so smart
Also put my choc in the refrigerator love dark choc, u look good libby god bless u and your son in your new place.
So happy for you!😊
Would the tall, black metal stand in the living room (with the plant on top) fit inside the tiny closet or where the dog food is? For small spaces, they always say to go vertical!
Love the hearts of palm noodles, I tried the angel hair, I like it really warmed through, softens it more.
Hi there. I have high cabinets in my bathroom, can be annoying because I'm a bit short lol😂 I'm a new subscriber too. Like your channel.❤
Talking about books, although I'm a huge obsessive reader, I don't read a lot of Stephen King because I'm not fond of the creepy kind of turn that is generally there. My 2 big exceptions are The Stand (which I unfortunately haven't been able to reread since the start of the pandemic; thanks OCD) and 11.22.63 because I love time travel and the whole question about how much you can change the past. It taught me a lot about the Kennedy assassination and was a great look back at a simpler era, with a fairly minimal creep factor (and most of that was logically tied to time travel paradoxes).
I think you need to declutter all that chocolate. I will take one for the team and graciously take them off your hands...lol 😆
You’re just too adorable and I enjoyed watching the replay! You have such a fun yet sweet personality. Have missed you and glad you’re back! 💗
It'll be nice to get a shepherd shelf, so you can put your all your stuff. You're microwave your cups right behind you
book idea- Dragon Riders of Pern series of books
Congratulations on your new place! Your keeping me company on a sick day. Keep up the great work!
My health issue lymphedema sometimes keep me from doing my chores in my apartment and it depressing I need advice
Girl my apartment looks the same! I moved in mid May....lol I am also short on storage and cabinets.
Yes i wash a week to keep clean
You're doing great
Congratulations on you move
I love your cozy little house God Bless you 🙏🏻🙌🏻❤️
I have the best book that will never go out of style and you can read over and over. The beauty of it is that everytime you read it, you will see what you read in a new light The BIBLE, King James Version best version.
Yay! Love the new place.
😊
Congratulations 🎉. I don’t know whether you read the comments after the live, but do you have one of those small collapsible stools (collapse flat) so you can reach the high cabinets?
Also for wire basket type shelving put piece of cardboard underneath the items so that they don't fall through.
Idk what happened to my first comment. It's disappeared. Suggested that Amazon and Walmart would have some affordable shelving options. You could place on the wall where the microwave is now. A folding step stool from the same. Both together shouldn't be much over $100. The very narrow closet in the kitchen is actually a broom closet for storing mops, brooms, vacuum cleaner and cleaning products on the top shelf. Contact paper would definitely help. Or even just liner. Also available on Amazon and Walmart. A bakers rack would be another idea for the microwave. Placed next to a taller shelf that matches the style. Filling the wall vertically as well as horizontally. You can store pantry items or display your Pioneer Woman appliances and dishes on it. Also use either the shelf risers or under the shelf baskets for in your cabinets.
A great book is "THE ART OF RACING IN THE RAIN ".
Congratulations!!!
I have the same problem use a stool and a grabber lol.
For the cabinets you can get a shelf that slides onto the shelf above and hangs down several inches. It would probably hold a few mugs and shorter items. They might even fit on the bottom of those short cabinets but they would hang underneath and be seen. Idk if they would work there but would help with extra storage space.
I have the same shower curtain lol. I think it's nice!
