When my son was 2 years old we moved into a studio apartment. I bought bunk beds and it worked out so good. I was very lucky it was a older single woman who had this apartment above her garage. It came table and chairs, plus living room furniture. It was a blessing.
I sure do hope u don't have to pay deposit..all that cleaning carpets.
I always clean and disinfect before moving into a new place.
Moving is just about the most stressful thing we all have gone through. Give yourself some grace. You’re doing exactly the right thing.
I was supposed to move, I got "all packed up", Covid hit......lived "out of boxes for over 3 years"(it flew by). . . .then "rents became so high"(Bidenomics) , it was "better & more affordable"to "stay put", our place is nice, we know the neighborhood, it's safe, and it's "affordable" (considering) ....... I've been donating, unpacking, for A Year Now !!! My spouse passed away May 29, 2024. My son is having a baby with a girl he only knows for 4-5 months - - his room is emptied, and we're making room for SMALL CRIB because they both work crazy hrs and will need me to care for a 4 month old.....they both have 3 months maternity leave. I'm not making the 2nd bedroom into a full blown nursery, Im looking for a SMALL crib, I'll secure a changing pad onto a dresser I have. It's up to them to have my place stocked with diapers, food, etc !
You NEVER KNOW WHEN YOUR LIFE WILL CHANGE FOREVER ! We're really going through it AGAIN.......not how I pictured retirement !
I don’t think you’re being paranoid. Most everyone cleans a place before they move in. Remember how I told you everything would be alright and you would find a place to go. Well, you did find a place and you’re ready for a new start. Baby steps.
You did tell me that, and I appreciate you! ❤️❤️
@@SimplyLibbythey please consider my advice I'm 57 disabled moved more times than I can count! My last move was a year ago I decluttered my old place when I moved I took one room at a time my bedroom first moved it in set it my nephews room same deal last load was kitchen and living room omg moving and setting each one at time was so easy.
Congratulations on your new place! That's so exciting! I am so happy for the two of you.
Wow the pink stuff is really really expensive there. We get all ours from poundland I suppose it's like your dollar shop however not everything is a pound the pink stuff spray is £1.25 good luck X
I cleaned my place when; I moved in. Trust whomever they said cleaned it was blind.
When my kids were little we had a neat bunkbed that was a full size on the bottom and a twin on the top. That may be ideal for your bedroom. You are doing wonderful as a single mom, give yourself some grace and love.
I agree that it's the perfect solution! And then there'd still be plenty of room for the desk and bookcase. Or, if need be, the bookcase can go into the living room or hallway. It looked narrow enough, I think for that. Wait...I *think* you have a short hall? I'll need to watch again. Best part is those bed frames are pretty inexpensive at Walmart, Target or even inexpensive furniture places like Rooms To Go or even liquidation furniture places. And they often come in colors - they're powder coated steel tubular frames.
Always take pictures for before you move in and after.. take pictures of old place after you clean it. Protect your back. I always clean before I move in. I clean toilet first and sink. Then I attack kitchen. Then when done clean tub and take a nice relaxing bath. You are the bomb. You’re doing it.❤🙏🏻☮️
I am the same way. Literally write down every single scuff mark, crack, anything. Landlords can’t be trusted. And I always leave every place cleaner than when I got it.
Exactly. As soon as I move in I photo every mark, scuff, stain & crack in the wall , then send a dated copy via email to the Agent.
That is what I do as a landlord. You think landlords can't be trusted? Try tenants. They will destroy everything. And you can't sue them because you can't get blood from a turnip.
@@swaters5127 I'm a tenant. I keep & leave my flats immaculate. I take pride in my home. Tho' London is weird (I grew up in Warwickshire): I got shouted at by another tenant for cleaning the communal hall. He kept screaming "Are you a cleaner"? Our Landlord doesnt ever clean it.
@@swaters5127 Isn't that the truth! Years ago, I rented to a single person and she destroyed an almost brand new Mobile Home. We worked our behinds off cleaning it, but we got it done. So many tenants look at it this way, "it's not mine, so why should I care."
@@sarahholland2600 You are one in a million!
Even though it could have been “clean enough” now YOU KNOW it is clean. Good job. I see you getting stronger with each video. You are amazing.
Hey Libby, your son is such a great helper.
Libby don't be hard on yourself it will take time God bless u girl
Thank you!! ❤️
One time I lived in a one bedroom and used the living room as my room plus still had a couple of chairs to sit in and TV hung up. And my son had the bedroom with a TV as well. But your doing a great job and its a cute apartment!
I love that!
I offered to split the space differently but he wanted to share the room which I thought was so sweet.
Thank you! ❤️
@@SimplyLibbyt your boy is the sweetest! Very happy for y'all!💕
@@SimplyLibbyt I really loved that you cleaned the place before moving in cause that's something I would do too! 🤘❤️
I have a good friend who lives in a one bedroom with her 2 kids they share the bedroom she has a cool couch that turns into a bed and she sleeps in there at night
They make a lofted bed that a twin on top and a full on the bottom that would save you both a lot of space😁
Came here to say this. Then they have the rest of bedroom
Fully agree, sucks to have to share a room, but be nice to give her son more space to play in there.
@@Dragonlady80Just remember, it's "temporary".....I don't know what space is like in living room - "I'd sleep on the couch", let him have the room for homework, sleep, play, friends, just make an area for a dresser for me, etc.
The crack behind the bathroom sink is an easy fix. Scrape off all the loose caulk with a knife and get a tube of caulk that is good for wet areas like showers. Squeeze a bead along the top of the sink next to the back wall and use your finger to smooth it out. Use a damp cloth to clean up the line til it looks good to you. Let it dry for 48 hours, maybe 24 would be enough, but 48 to make sure it is really dry. You have a nice clean white line where the crack used to be. Sorry to hear your marriage is ending if you get along well. Every marriage has ups and downs. Have you talked to a pastor, priest, counselor? Looks like you are making great progress on the move though.
Better yet get your landlord to do it!
@@lauragosnell2481For small things like that, you don't have to call maintenance every day !
You kicked butt!!! Such a smart idea- using the masking tape to plan out where everything goes. I don't blame you for super cleaning your place before moving in - especially with that cat smell ahhh! Can't wait to see the next installments!
I can remember home hunting and walking into some places and thinking "how do you show this thinking it clean or showable?" Clearly some people have different standards of clean... New subber. Big hugs❤
Vinegar is usually good to take out smells.
And baking soda. The vinegar smells bad when using but it leaves a nice smell afterwards.
If you want to completely get it out, Clorox urine destroyer. Does better…. We have a lot of rescue cats…
@@royalbloodline2430LOTS OF BAKING SODA ON THE CARPET !!
I just moved into an apartment with my 3 kiddos it’s an older apartment not in the best area but I needed something ASAP and had to take what was available, the carpet looks like it has not been changed in over a decade, there were kids that lived here before we moved in so there’s drawings on closet doors, carpet stains and some of the appliance doesn’t work, it’s overwhelming I know how you feel but we all unfortunately have to start from the somewhere as single mama’s it won’t last forever I promise!
I’m just grateful we even have a roof over our head, you got this girl !
I know how you feel. I am going through the exact same with my husband who I have been with for almost 30 years. It’s hard knowing that we make better friends than partners but I am grateful that we both realize it. The transition has not been easy but I am taking it one day at a time.
Cinnamon will remove odors.. you can put cinnamon sticks or powder cinnamon on a paper towel and set it in whatever area you want to remove odors from.. my dad was a refrigeration mechanic and that is what they use to remove odors when they would get a unit that was broken down when the shipping freighter came w.. I have used that hack for years when I have cleaned hoarders home before..
The problem with cat pee is it goes into the padding under the carpet all the way down. I had a room that all had to be pulled up, floor base painted, then new flooring on top.
Cat urine is the worst. I don't care what anyone say, you can't get the smell out, unless you replace what they urinated on.
I re-clean when I move into a new place. My current (forever) home was grimy! Happy I was able to replace the appliances. The old owners had plenty of time to get it sparkling, but didn’t bother! 😐 Not sure why people do that! Glad you are done with the bathroom and kitchen! Those are usually the worst rooms.
Your son is so sweet 😊. I don’t know your full story (I did not see previous vlogs) but I wanted to say you and your son are doing great. It may not feel like it but everything will be ok.
Great job! I just helped two of my kids move into an apartment. The front of the fridge there looked clean but when I wiped it the paper towel was brown. So yes clean even if things look clean. Congrats!!! I hope the coming months and years bring great new people and opportunities into your lives! Hugs. ❤❤😊😊🐦🐦
I’m glad the landlord was able to help remove the smell. I remember when I moved into my first apartment it smelled like a smoker lived there. I couldn’t stand it. I don’t remember how we got rid of the smell or maybe we just got use to it. At that apartment it was just one thing after another so you’re right with writing everything down. 💕
I do the exact same thing when I move in. I deep clean everything! Where I am renting now, it was horrible when I moved in. Same problem as you with carpets with urine smell. They cleaned carpet twice and I bought so many products to help with smell but nothing worked. They finally put new carpet and smell is gone. They have to completely put new padding and carpet. The more they clean carpets the more saturated they get and makes smell worse. I wish y'all the best and stay strong.
I do like the feel of the new place - I like the windows - but I'm very fond of wood windows and I know a lot of people would prefer aluminium as it's easier to clean - but I don't think it has quite the same look. Your little one's doing such a good job helping!
Hang in there, Libby!
whenever i move i always get new toilet seats and airators for the faucets and if i can get away with it, a new shower heard.
Thanks so much for sharing your journey with us. You're doing great! I look forward to your next video. ☺❤
Oh my gosh, you did not have to do that!
Thank you so much! 🥺❤️
@@SimplyLibbyt You're so welcome! Have a fabulous week! ☺
Hi Libby, Good to see you. Years ago, I was in almost the same situation you are in as far as bedroom space that I had to share with the kids. I bought a metal double decker a full at the bottom and twin at the top. It gave us plenty of room to work with. Until my situation got better so I rented a bigger apartment where the kids could have their room and I could have mine. It was very crammed, but we managed. We moved to another apartment where there were only 2 kids, then 3 and finally 4. Of course I remarried and the family grew from 3 to 6.
I’m so glad my apartment is all wood and tile floors. Can’t stand carpet. Just never seems clean to me. New to your channel 😊 I agree with cleaning before you move in. I always say it’s not clean till I clean it!
The crack by he bathroom sink is going to drive you nuts because it's not supposed to be there, and by it staying water gets under the paint and seal hey has there, you need to ask them to re seal around the sink, it will help protect future problems
Mold!!!
I use an old toothbrush for cleaning in grooves, around taps etc . Always clean a new place. Best wishes for you both in your new home
It looks like a cozy place. Ask the landlord to recaulk the sink! Did you keep a copy of your walk through notes? Glad your putting everything on video. I happy for your son that you and your ex can be friends. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
She can do it herself
@@dcg590 It’s the landlord’s JOB to
re-caulk the sinks, etc. I’ve been a landlord…and I did not behave like a slumlord. It’s a lot of work to be a good landlord which was a contributing factor as to why we sold our rental properties.
The commenter that recommended that Libby request that her LANDLORD re-caulk the sink…it wasn’t meant as a suggestion that she-Libby-isn’t capable??
By law, it’s the landlord’s job to make sure all is well; and especially if there are “plumbing” issues or problems that will be exacerbated by water and/or humidity. I’d recommend you mellow out a little bit. There’s a nicer way to say things. Good luck to you. 👍🏼
Buy some of the angry orange Odor eliminator. That stuff works. Congratulations on your new home.
I have had great success with Angry Orange.
Love your videos. I always cleaned before I unpacked too. Keep being brave. ❤
I had the same issue when I moved into an apartment. It had a strong smell of pesticides. It took me a week to get the smell out of the carpet.
I had re-shampoo the carpet and used baking soda until the smell was gone.
What I did for my bedroom is made my child’s bed set up very much like a sofa bed- kept the pattern neutral and matched it to my bed- the room comes off like a bedroom w a sofa and all looks nice- add a little divider , like a table in between
If you line your drawers and cabinets with wallpaper that you can get cheap at HD. You can change it when it gets dirty, but your stuff will feel much cleaner if you have a liner down. ❤
I don’t use gloves but I don’t blame you . I’m a freak when it comes to cleaning.
I understand the way you feel ❤
You can sand down the cutting board smooth and treat with a food safe mineral oil. It’ll look like new! ❤
Vinegar, vinegar, vinegar. Fill a spray bottle. Find the spots. Apply liberally. Let dry. Repeat, repeat, repeat. I dumped a gallon of vinegar on a carpet that had most assuredly been peed on by a cat and after a week of drying, that smell was gone!
Steam clean the carpets.
@dscrerar1111 That doesn't work for pet urine. I've had pets for 25 years and steam cleaning will highlight the smell more often than it cleans it. The urine soaks deeper into padding - hence why letting vinegar soak into it and dry naturally works better
Clorox makes a urine stain and odor remover, I got mine at Lowe's it was $17 a gallon, follow the instructions on the bottle. My husband had dementia, at stage seven toileting becomes an issue, he peed all over the house and the Clorox removed every hint of urine odor. I also put some in my carpet cleaner along with 20 Mule Team Borax and that seemed to work as well.
Nature's Miracle Spray
But did everywhere smell like a Fish & Chip shop instead? Just joking. Sorry 😂
I’ve moved into apartments like this and done lots of cleaning. What always frustrated me is the fact that they wanted to keep security deposits yet they did little to no cleaning in between tenants. I’m glad you complained about the cat urine because I guarantee they kept part or all of that tenant’s security deposit. I always left apartments far cleaner than I found them and only once did a landlord thank me for it and give me back my deposit. Years later my husband and I bought rental property and we treated our tenants and our property with great care. Also, for anyone needing to get rid of pet smells, there is a spray called Pooph that works really well.
If it helps you - We also always clean the entire place before moving in :D It just feels wrong to move into someone elses dirt... I wish you best of luck that it will become a comfy home and that you'll be able to find good homes for your animals. I feel how hard it must be for you to manage everything on your own, and to give away your cats. I can't imagine how hard it must be, but you will do it! You are strong, and sooner or later better times will come!
Yes I always clean prior to move in. Even a new build I did this and I’ve rented for 30 years. Write down and take pics- you are right on that!! Welcome to your new place- wishing you great memories!!!
Google cleaning tips.
The landlord has to paint and clean the carpets in most states, unless you agree to do it to lower your move in fees.
Cat urine is the hardest to remove honestly.
Best of wishes.
It looks to be a decent place.
Microfiber is the worst feeling! I feel you girl.
I am so proud of you for continuing to move forward, with all the stress and changes you're dealing with! I know just how hard moving can be. Do you have a PayPal set up, so viewers could donate to all those annoying moving in expenses? ❤
It's literally the worst feeling 😂
Thank you so much, I appreciate that ❤️
I don't have anything set up right now. I really struggle with asking for help but if I set one up I will let everyone know ❤️❤️
@@SimplyLibbyt that's a valid feeling. I think the great thing about linking a PayPal and then letting your viewers know is you're not asking for help. But you're allowing the people who on their own would want to contribute to do that. I know I would like to throw a little something your way, even if it's just enough for Domino's delivery to enjoy after all your hard work!
I appreciate you so much! ❤️ I added my paypal link in the description of the video. It still baffles me how kind people can be. 😄
@@SimplyLibbyt My family doesn't like asking for help either lol. My mom got chemo 8 days ago and a stem cell transplant the next day. It's mostly my dad and me hanging out but asked once for the neighbor to keep Mom company while I worked and my dad helped my brother with his dryer.
It's a really cute place!! I understand wanting to do some cleaning of your own. Best of luck!!
I, for one, was really glad when it came out that micro fiber is terrible for the environment. I tried micro fiber when they first came out and hated them. I mostly use cotton wash clothes and love them.
I still love my E-cloths home starter pack (5 different types of cloth) I got a decade ago, but can't stand prickly cheap microfiber 😖 It's like trying to grip a cactus! 😅 Sensory ick.
@@HannahRainbow88 maybe that's what I did wrong ( bought cheap ones).....but I think I bought micro fiber from one if those "parties" like Tupperware but not. 🙃
I had a one bedroom as a single mom. I had my kid in the bedroomn and my room was the living room. I had a pullout couch. Wasn’t comfy and nobody came over so I just out a bed in the living room. If you are going to share I’d suggest when you get the money to maybe downgrade bed size if you can. If it’s a full go to a twin? Also it’s easier to work with once your moved In to see how it works. Another option would be put your bed under his then there will be floor space for him to play :)
I do the same, clean the new place before anything goes in. I also bought a new toilet seat . Hello from Australia. Pink stuff is pricey here.
When I shared a one bedroom with my son. I put my bed in the living room. And a TV in his room for him.
I believe Libby said in the last move-in video - that she's open to that but currently her son's of an age where he's preferring to share a bedroom with mum - it's a comfort for them both with all the upheaval going on.
Correct! He wanted to share a room together, which made me so happy ❤️ I can't wait to show you guys how it's turning out!

Odoban from dollar tree is wonderful for pet smells on everything
Starting off in a clean environment is important, it's establishing your own boundaries🌻I have meticulously cleaned every home I've moved out of and into. I even remove the toilet seat, clean it and reinstall it. I also take video going room to room to prove conditions upon leaving and entering. It's hard to dispute footage🎥
I use vinegar water and essential oils to mask the vinegar smell. If there is carpet, baking soda with peppermint oil leave on overnight then have it shampooed
Hi Sunshine 💐, You need to try ODO Ban🥳, that stuff works wonders for pet orders🥳, & it has a lot of uses for, cleaning & laundry & Have a Great Day, Sunshine 💐🥳💐
Wishing you all the luck. You seem like an awesome person and great mom. Can’t wait to see how you set up your new place and your new chapter in your life. I’m so glad you and your ex get along so great for Kelly. I love how you’re cleaning. It’s great.
Hi. Just a suggestion for the bathroom sink caulk situation. Old caulk needs to be removed and new caulk put in. I would call apt. complex to do that. Then, I'd probably buy the Dollar Tree stick on vinyl tiles and create a little backsplash.
Am watching your video that popped up on my feed so just in case you dont figure out the cat pee smell THERE ARE great cleaners out there, I promise!! For new & old pet stains Angry Orange, Rocco & Roxy spray or.vinegar if you are in a pinch. Please try Angry Orange! Citrus or the Rocco & Roxy has a clove(?)type of scent but again both work great at getting rid of old pet stains/smells & new! Shampooing may not do the trick 😁May hv to do it repeatedly but it will be worth it!
Agree, cant stand the feel of microfiber clothes! Odoban is a great cleaner and will get rid of smells!!
I second this! I moved into a house that had a cat hoarder. Odo ban saved my life.
In the UK (and Europe I think) it's customary for the new tenants to clean it. The landlord gets a basic quick dust/wipe/vac clean done, but I still got 7shades of shiRt (and then some) outta our place before we moved in! 😂
Wishing you all the best with the rest of your move, and the next chapter of your lives 💗🙏
ROCK ON MOMMA!!!!
New here. Looking forward to seeing more. Sorry your going thru a rough time . Hang in there 🙏 😊❤
I would of asked the carpet to be totally removed? I have carpet and no matter how much you vacuum the dust is bad for allergies Have the super fix the caulking on top of the basin?
I asked for it to be replaced, and they weren't going for that.
I had the option between this unit and one with tile, but it was hideous, and the kitchen wasn't updated like this one. So I bit the bullet and just dealt with it. 😕
@@SimplyLibbyt To late now because you moved in. If it has nice wood floors underneath I would of had the old carpet removed? I'm only saying this because of my allergy experience
You go Libby! Congratulations on. Your new place! New memories to make!
Thank you so much!! ❤️
Always use a black light (in the dark) to illuminate cat pee.
I'll have to try the pink stuff. I don't think I've ever seen it before
I think your doing great. Take a breath and a break. Everything is going to be ok. God bless anyone who helps in this transition❤
They have professional strength Febreeze, which is highly concentrated and lasts forever, and laundry additive febreeze for pet odors. I mix it with carpet shampoo, which helps so much; mix your bottle with professional febreeze and spray a couple of times a day everything for a week after thoroughly drying of the shampoo. Do not forget to spray closets and curtains; in my home, I spray febreeze on shower curtains. I also use essential oil droppers in fresh trash bags and simmer pots. Try powerful scents like cinnamon and mint scents are best to keep rodents and spiders away. Use garden sprayers; they are more powerful, scrub daddies and mommas are great with the pink stuff, to clean with in kitchen and bath. Not costly at all.
Nature's Miracle!
Hi cleaning never stops but we need to do it to be healthy. Just found your channel. Well done 😊❤
Change out any air filters regularly. That will help with ac and smells.
Cat urine is a nightmare to remove without replacing the carpet and underlay. You could try a carpet washer but the underlay will be soiled too and probably the wood underneath.
That's the only way to do it, because you can't get cat urine out of anything. The stuff has to be replaced.
What size is your bed ? If it's a queen or king you could go down to a full and if you have a full you could go down to a twin and give you both more room to walk in the bedroom
I can absolutely relate to cleaning before moving in. In my last Place I scrubbed some sort of peanut sauce off the kitchen floor (it was an older wooden floor with perfect gaps for stuff to get into🤢) Greetings from Germany 😊
I love watching this Libby
I give your ex a lot of credit for helping you move, a lot of guys would wipe their hands and walk away saying “it’s not their problem “ I think it says alot about his character that he’s helping you
I recommend Odoban Pet Smell remover. It is the very best deodorizer available. And I love the Little Green machine. So glad you're getting a new place.
Also, my kids' dad installed carpet for years, the cat pee is usually in the pad underneath the carpet. And honestly, anyone can pull up & replace the pad. You just need to rent a "knee kicker" & ask somebody at a Home Depot to show you how to use it. I hate carpet because I always had pets & you can not keep them from getting dirty.
A loft bed is a good space saver but be warned it can be tricky to make the bed.
Hi, I just saw your video about cleaners. Dollar Tree sells a version of the pink stuff. Works great. A lot cheaper than the other stores.
U do a rally good job on here
My idea on beds for the room. Why dont you get a twin over full bunk bed and that way you are only using floor space for one bed. Son on top and you on the full bottom bed.
Good little helper
Hello, Just came across your channel, I hope all goes well for you & your son for the future.
LOVE THE COW ART KEEP WELL and have patience with yourself
I think its pretty common for people to reclean a rental before they move in. Both my apartments were still dirty when I moved in. For the first one, they didn't clean the bathroom vanity drawers, and there was toothpaste and gunk in them 🤢 and the second apartment was barley better. I ended up calling at the place I'm currently at and having them send the cleaner over again because I was not moving in with it looking the way that it was looking.
Natures Miracle or Pooph for the scent in your home. Best!!
For the cracks behind the faucet and grout I buy Clorox Spray in the green bottle it has bleach and disinfects and cleans the cracks, the black stuff! I only use it sparingly like every quarter or every 6 months it is potent. Once it is clean you can put some caulk in that area. Some people are just not clean even when living in a rental! I never understood that, a small apartment does not take a lot of time!
That's the only thing I clean with, "Clorox Spray." It disinfects and really does a great job. I do add a little Dawn if there is grease anywhere and that helps also.
Baking soda for carpet will eliminate that smell. Buy a gallon of simple green. It's a natural cleaner that many meat packing companies use. It cleans below surface, eliminates smells. Good luck. Down sizing can be a good thing.
When it was me & my daughter,Igave her the bedroom & I slept on a sofa sleeper in the living room.
New sub here.Wish you blessings in your new place! Im a clean freak...Yes, clean new place.Out w.old germs! Theres a product called Odor ban, takes out all smells, cat urine also.
Maybe have a pull out bed for you in the living room and give your son the bedroom.
Futon to the rescue!!

Futon would be great for mom
Wash the walls door frames cats spray . Hope they got the smell gone.
I also clean when l move in then l know its my kind of clean .you did a great

That’s a good idea. A little tape to measure the rooms out❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️
Vanilla essence diluted on soft furnishings carpet
Tom cat Spray left on painted surfaces probs needs a paint
If that apartment was cleaned, they did a horrible job! Great video
You make me want to try those pink cleaners
I would have the landlord for a new tiolet seat caulk atound the bathroom sink
Yes, I never did that when we rented, because I just didn’t think of it, but we got all new toilet seats when we bought our house.
We usually buy a new toilet seat, they don't cost very much & it feels better to have a new one of your own
The landlord should have replaced the carpet automatically cat smell or not. Sorry you had to deal with that. Best wishes for life in your new apartment.
They definitley should have. I mentioned that to them and they said something along the lines of unless it's visibly soiled it doesn't need to be replaced. 🙄 like no there were no visible stains but you can tell it was not clean. Thank you! ❤️
I second that and the padding . Cat urine is considered a bio hazard . It probably soaked base board , trim and sub floor
My husband had a truck mounted carpet cleaning business for over thirty years. The decent landlords would get the carpets professionally cleaned every time someone moved out,the great ones had him use his black light to check for pet urine spots and then the awesome ones change the carpet out completely. A coffee cup size spot usually means there is a dinner plate size stain that went through the pad and into the subfloor. (Just cleaning the surface means that when it’s humid inside or raining outside, the dried alkaline salt of the urine is going to reactivate into the acidic ammonia and stink again.) However,my husband had an attachment called a cat’s claw which allowed him to soak the carpet all the way to the subfloor, with water and enzyme solution but super suction it all back out again. That really did address the problem. A cheaper solution was to take his OVERSIZED hypodermic needle with anti microbial enzyme solution and shoot it down under the padding. That worked too. If you can’t resolve this,(I haven’t watched to the end) try to rent or borrow a black light, use it at night and then show the landlord,I know, super duper pain in the butt!😖
Is that a sec 8 requirement?
@@dcg590Section 8 does an annual inspection but carpet does not have to be replaced for every new tenant.
Do you have access to a carpet shampooer?? Those work magic.
