6/10
Y'all know this is just my opinion, right? What did you think of this album? Love it? Hate it? Why? What should I review next, eh?
"least favorite song: Catalina Fight Song"
all credibility lost
Catalina Fight Song is the best IMO
+Dharmaville same lol
True
thank you
im crying^
omfg
Catalina Fight Song is your least favorite?
has to be some sort of prank right?
its just a banger, would be fun to put on at a party
has to be
That song is an absolute banger. Legendary
Right! Shit all of their songs are amazing.
He just said it’s the least memorable
one of my favorite records of all time
NO ITS WROST ALBUME EVER
YOUR WROGN
YOU ARE WRONG
@@STATFANs bro what
10/10. Review it again.
Imperfect voices or vocals is what makes them great. Easier to relate to and more emotion. For instance, Johnny Hobo, Tigers Jaw, Lucero...
Johnny hobo 🔥
I want a heart tattoo
Is that you on the cover?
Fucking funny
"I do like my pop punk with a little more punk than pop." Lol I'm the exact same way. Pop punk bands like state champs make my sack itch
mostly the same but every now and again i gotta hear that intro riff to secrets
So do you just go to Urban Outfitters and buy the shirts no one else will touch?
Thanks for the review, btw. Been on the fence with this one.

Falling in Love Again was the standout track for me, though. Absolutely adore that song.
Same
@@officialcoronaextra2611 weird, this was five years ago and yet I just started listening to this album again last night. You stalking me? Lmao
_______Markestmort damn what a coincidence, I hope you’re enjoying the album, I heard it again today.. still in love w it
@@officialcoronaextra2611 absolutely, always a gem.
Falling in love again is seriously excellent, up there with constant headache as one of the best pop punk songs ever made. Beautiful and completely earnest
Heated swimming pool was actually one of my favorite tracks on the album so is Catalina fight song.
not big fan of heated swimming pool. but yeah, catalina was really good. also enjoyed heart tattoo and end of the summer a lot!
FIFFTW to tell you the truth I enjoyed the whole record and I know Imone of the very few people who actually liked the second album better than the first one
Gluesniffer16 ME TOO! I mean, there was some really good standout song son the s/t (leather jacket, beach community, constant headache), but as an album, the second one was really really nice put together
FIFFTW i like the diversity of the second one it can go from a fast punk track(if I needed you there) to slow acoustic song(drainage) to some pop punk (violent inside) to a smiths/Morrissey influenced sound(bride of usher), I enjoyed the first one also the tracks you listed are among some of the great songs on the album constant headache being my favorite but for me i find myself listening to never hunger again and of all things way more than the self titled
FIFFTW Gluesniffer16 thank god i'm not the only one who thinks the 2nd one was the best
I just saw them tonight and they killed it live, great energy.
what was your first?
Self titled was a little bit better but this LP is killer. The only let down was "in the army now", but Catalina Fight Song was beautiful
Yay! I didn't think you'd review it, but you totally reviewed it.
he's on the fucking album cover, of course he's gonna review it lol
Will R i was just joking dude
he discussed Joyce manor in one of his videos with some other guy before
noah hutchison greatest comment ever
noah hutchison hahahahah...awesome.
"I like my pop-punk with more punk than pop".... Doesn't like Catalina Fight Song
The Jerk is probably my favorite track on this album.
PLEASE do Peripheral Vision - Turnover
This is what he had to say about it in 2015 on Twitter: "Not into the new Turnover record. There, I said it" :((
turnover is wack bro
@@dnkmarci cap 💀
Where's the Cody review tho
he covered it in his last Y NO REVIEW
yeah he calleed it the worst album of their career in his comedy spit that StevePelcz mentioned
Anthony take a second look at Yung Lean
r u srs
Sugga bread
Sugga u aint sad enough to understand #sadboys
why don't you take a second look at THIS *unzips penis*
he already did ahaha "my hands are bread my hands are bread"
End of the Summer is my jam!
Nat Silva mine too
i love this album and i love this review but i verrrrry strongly disagree with "Schley" being a forgettable song. probably my favorite song on this album and that lead riff is killer. for me, that melody is the MOST memorable. goes to show how much opinion comes into play with a review.
Their first album was the best pop punk album of all time imo lol
I loved their self titled album.
L
>Catalina Fight Song
>most unmemorable
Fandango pls
The second guitar riff on Falling In Love Again is so fucking good. I can't get it out of my head.
Self titled was a little better IMO. Review the new whirr album when it comes out, they're one of the side bands of the guitarist dude in Deafheaven
And they're gigantic assholes who insult and ridicule their fans and have said they hate Anthony. I think the phrase they used was "Internet's Biggest Dumbass."
Nick Basset is not in Deafheaven anymore. He wasn't on Sunbather.
Hmm thats unfortunate
+DelayTheDecay where did you hear that? Give us a link.
Modern Day Vinyl Here you go: facebook.com/whirrband/photos/a.160873980655984.43253.133816753361707/572902569453121/?type=1&theater
Just scroll through their facebook page to see how they insult their fans. Too much work? Don't worry, the band made a tumblr page dedicated to documenting the abuse.whirrhatespitchfork.tumblr.com/
Yeah, I agree on a lot of those points. The thing about modern pop-punk is that it really isn't a very diversive genre. It usually comes down to the teeny tiny details between bands that count as what makes them stand out from each other. If you're a fan of the genre [like me], that's not always a bad thing. At least, not at this point when the bands that are making the allegedly samey-sounding music are still being sincere about the music they make. But yeah, I could easily see someone getting really bored with this genre as a whole.
I mean, I still absolutely loved the album, but 6/10 sounds about right for someone that isn't a weird pop-punk geek.
Pop-punk isn't diverse? Compare The Mezingers to Bayside to Four Year Strong to All Time Low to Fireworks and tell me with a straight face that there isn't huge differences between their styles.
zymotica1 It depends how you define pop punk. I agree with you that all four of those bands could be considered pop punk, because pop punk nowadays is not only pop punk bands, but any band that is friends with or tours with other pop punk bands. Some people would absolutely disagree with you in saying that The Menzingers are in any way a pop punk band. When you look at the broad genre that includes any band revolving around the scene, pop punk can be diverse. When people think of the specific genre, the differences can be few and far between. This is coming from a big fan of this genre, by the way.
zymotica1 dude this is the best comment ever
zymotica1 menzingers and bayside arent exactly punk- at least not for the past 5-7 years
Being a big fan of Joyce Manor, I found it hard to be critical on their latest release. I agree with your points on Heated Swimming Pool but I would give it a 7 or 8 personally.
Still wanting your thoughts on Seahaven's latest album "Reverie Lagoon: Songs for Escapism Only"
I agree with the opinion but the argument relies too heavily on comparisons to well known punk & emo records/bands and not enough on craft.
Constant Headache (their 2010 demo EP) is still one of my favorite modern punk sounds.
bro what, their S/T is SO GOOD
PUP - PUP... review their debut album! Such a fun listen.
You should review the self titled album. Just got a remaster it desperately needed and I’ve been obsessed with it. Especially “derailed”
"I do like my pop punk with more punk than pop" - that is a quote to keep
Solid and thoughtful review. Honestly didn't expect to see a review of this on your channel. Also nice touch with the rites of spring LP. Easily one of my favorites, along with Embrace.
Catalina fight song, Schley , the jerk and heart tattoo are my favs :(
Usually hate youtube reviews of anything, especially music, but you clearly do your due diligence. Excellent review...intsant subscribe.
I listened to Heart Tattoo, and that sounds as if Blink-182 wrote it. Spot on comparison
When I saw the thumbnail I thought it was Fantano on the album's cover.
This whole album is perfect, the only song I've been on the fence about was in the army now
how does it feel being wrong?
End of the Summer was the track that got me into Joyce Manor. This is a pretty good album, i'm glad Anthony reviewed it and gave it a good score.
Do Joyce Manor - Cody cmon
he said it was there worst album in a YYOUNOREVIEW
I've been waiting for this!

I've been to dozens of concerts ranging from Bob Dylan to the Misfits on Halloween night and I gotta say, when I saw Joyce Manor it was amazing. Immediately went home and listened to all of their stuff. Short and Sweet man but full of absolute bangers
Catalina Fight Song is your least fav track? Seriously? That song is amazing!!!
I KNOW. And he said it's the least memorable??? Excuse me?
I think it's definitely a good album. Not as good as their first but better than their second.
You should review talon of the hawk from the front bottoms, I'd like to know what you think about that album.
I actually prefer Joyce Manor's older albums, I think it's less pop orientated and their screws are a bit more loose
one of the best rock albums in years. period
Anthony, you make some good points but i don't necessarily agree with some of the points you make.
First and foremost, it sounds like you're saying that drug use only inspires drug related songs. I kind of disagree with that. drugs stimulate or "wake up" parts of your brain that you normally don't use during sobriety, which as a result give you bursts of creativity that you normally would not have during sobriety. Those burst of creativity can inspire any sort of musical related theme, not just drug-using themes.
Also, i completely agree that the musician is by far the most important part of the music making process, but drugs can give them inspiration and creativity that really gives their music that "extra something". A lot of artists get that "extra something" from drugs and a lot of the music you enjoy would not be the same if drugs did not exist.
*Noted, if artists use intense enough drugs for enough time that will actually stagnate, regress or even flat out destroy their music making ability. So this is not a one-sided argument, drugs can be harmful too but saying they're not important or helpful is just flat out wrong.
Literally choked when I saw he gave this a 6
He’s a paid shill for top 40’s slop lol
To melon autotune is the peak of music
I totally agree with everything you said about 'Heart Tattoo', that was my favourite track on the album.
Cal Chuchesta is my spirit animal
he obviously doesn't like them, but is trying really hard not to be harsh! and be as objective as possible... which is nice...
the whole album is amazing!
seeing this in my subscriptions was a very pleasant surprise!
DAT RITES OF SPRING IN THE BACKROUND
Is that Fantano on the album cover??
Man I really hate this dudes opinions, but I guess that's what music is all about, it's different to us all. I still hate him for ragging on Title Fight though.
I'd hate to see what this guy has to say about Jawbreaker....
Cal is love Cal is life he should be the next Yeezus
I think a 6/10 is a bit harsh, although I do agree with many of the points stated also I did notice this album was very soft and more pop maybe, I guess the band is trying a different style compared to their old stuff but over all I think they are a great band to listen to prob one of my favorites do to their relatable lyrics and catchy songs their old stuff is definitely something worth listening to I would give this album (Never Hung Over Again) an 8/10
Tactiiczify but think about what it means to be a ten. It has to be PERFECT and affect the industry in a way that is unprecedented and none of these records are those things
I already love this album and this video solidified it even more. Really great reviews man! Subscribed.
bro how much to you like pop punk? you should check out "the story so far" they might be a little too poppy for you but i suggest you give them a listen. great review as always
this has grown so much on me, it hits you so fast, makes you sing some catchy preppy hooks and then leaves you wanting more, maybe it's not the most original pop punk albums out there, even less one of most original emo lps but it's really fun and just passionate, I give this a omg-why do I like so much this record- 9
Respect for the Rites of Spring record in the background of the shot. This man knows his emo history.
I love this album. If you look at it for what it is, it's really great.
Really good review, however my favourite tracks were your least favourite/ vice versa !
you did it, and I'm so happy you did.
my house, my rules, my heated swimming pool, Fantano!
Aye Antoine, I love you for introducing me to this band. This album deserves a higher rating.
This was a real solid review. I personally think this album is a 9. But at least you brought some strong points about what you did/did not like about it. I appreciate that.
Hated this album the first couple listens but now I'm kind of falling in love with it to be honest.
Kinda confused why genres that were maligned in their time are being lauded now. This sounds like everything that would've been on the Warped Tour 2003 compilation, yet somehow Pitchfork gave it a 7.8? Are we gonna look back on New Found Glory and Yellowcard and *get* it? I'm not sure. Nice review as always, Fantango.
Pleeeeease
GNARWOLVES (self titled)
their first full-length record just about to drop sometime in the next month, thom weeks songwriting on the 3 EPs preceding it earned them a spot on Readings' mainstage only 3 years after they formed!
Gnarwolves cru fuck you
I'm a huge Joyce Manor fan, but I'm not sure where this albums stacks up for me in comparison to their sophomore. I like it a lot, but I need to give it a few more spins before I really get a feel for it.
I'm just glad you even decided to give this thing a score! Another well thought out review Anthony. I enjoyed this album a lot, myself, so a 6 is a little low IMO but you make solid points that I can agree with.
It's great to see Anthony reviewing a band like Joyce Manor!
You dun goofed VICTORIA in the FAV TRACKS part in the description Fantango
the jerk fkn rocks can't believe he didn't dig that chorus lmao
Dude..... right?
perryholcombe right!
OMFG IK youd give it a 6 exactly heh. but im glad u reviewed this album !!!!!!!!
heated swimming pool, falling in love again, christmas card and end of the summer are my favs!
OH and the new Hostage Calm LP coming out soon. CONNECTICUT FOREVER.
ANTHONY REVIEW '68-IN HUMOR AND SADNESS FOR FUCKS SAKE
Distinct sound? Show me an as solid/talented lead-back up vocal combo as Barry and Matt. You're like me and notice this new continuation of mostly shit has the same whiny voiced kids. You don't directly say it but you mention them so close, I assume you were thinking it
Btw, first time viewer...rating music? What are you doing? Your rating means shit to anyone who's not you. Your words hold a bit more weight.
Thanks for reviewing this, I feel the same rating. It was fun to skate to, but other then that, quite lacklustre
Heart tattoo reminded you of Bink 182 because the rhythm guitar on that song and "Damnit" are exactly the same.
this album is a masterpiece.
Someone has to find a nother term than emo
IDFgivati suburban blues
Zach Mirsky 3MO
Dat Cal Nostalgia :,( will I be ok?
I never thought of the Against Me comment, I more associated this album with Alkaline Trios first album, has a nice youthful feel to it and stays decently upbeat. I think this album is killer along with the rest of Joyce Manors work and I wasn't disappointed by this release.
Basically this album is perfect...
Moving on...

I think the lyrics are strong on this record, they're romantic and melancholic and show some self-awareness that I'm really drawn to. This is what pop-rock should be
That Rites of Spring record in the back >
Also, I love NHA. Great summer album.
Thank you for reviewing. Faith in Fantano restored
This is the wrongest you've ever been. Comparing something to Enema of the State as a good thing, and putting Rites of Spring up in the background, fucking disgusting. I'm getting in my car, and I'm driving to Connecticut, and I'm gonna kick your ass. See you in 15 hours.
