Thanks for the video. Do you think you can test a 6 3/4 subwoofer? Unfortunately that’s what my 2004 Honda Element comes with and it’s right below the shifter. It has the 7 speaker system with an amp. I have already replaced the rear speakers with Kicker 6.5 coaxial and Alpine components in the front doors and tweeters in the stock tweeter location. They were installed years ago and am happy but looking to replace the subwoofer and probably the amp but wanted a small amp that would fit in the current amp location. Thanks keep up the cool videos 😎

Is this the New RIVEGA Subs Of your Own You are releasing this March?..Damn!!!.........Looks like high quality equipment. Great review HifiVega!!!..Bassheads are loving these !!!!!Can't wait for the tests!!! Cool 😎
Glad to see several 8 inch subwoofers. I'm a fan of 8 inch subs. I like my bass to have punch, and be musical. If you need more rumble use 2 - 8 inch subs. But really, one very good 8 inch subwoofer with some power is perfect for me and any one car and still be kickin' it. But there's alot of companies that don't make 8 inch subs. I'd say about half don't make 8 " subs.
I agree 100%!!! The best sounding system I ever had utilized 5 1/4” components up front and a single 8” subwoofer in a custom enclosure that I built that went between the center console and the firewall. Clarity was amazing, transition between the components and 8” sub was VERY smooth, and the bass was incredibly accurate. It was not loud, but it was clear. I used a Sony deck, two Sony XM-2025 amps, Infinity Reference components, and a Lanzar subwoofer(before they sold out). This was in the late 90’s.
8" subs are a waste of time, they don't get load before reaching mechanical limits. They don't get low either. If you can fit 2 8s in your car, you're better off just running a single 10".
@@briteRedaz16 it all depends on the box! A properly built box with a single 8” will play lower and louder than a poorly built box for a 10” or even 12”. IF all things are equal, yes a larger sub will be able to move more air so it will typically play deeper.
@@91CavGT5 not necessarily. If you pay attention to most manufacturers, mostly all 8" subs have an FS of 38 or higher. Meaning building a box to specs you still have to tune high to make it efficient.. tune it too low it becomes inefficient and creates a lot of heat, make the box bigger to compensate, it loses accuracy and bottoms out.. again a waste of time.
@@briteRedaz16 you said they don’t get low. There are 8” subs out there that have a lower FS than you state. Subs also can play lower than their FS. Do they loose efficiency? Yes. Can they do it? Yes. Case in point: On my channel, I have a series called “Budget Booming” where I took 4 cheap $8 woofers(not subwoofers) from Parts Express. They had an FS of 47 hz. I built a custom 4th order that I designed. The box peaked with only a 500 watt cheap amp on it(the $150 challenge) at 135 db at 47 hz. Output did not significantly drop off till you got down to 30 hz. Could 10” subs play louder? Most definitely, but that is not the point. You stated 8” subs don’t play low and have too high of an FS. DC Audio subs have a high FS, but they can still play low. Give me an 8” sub with at least 15mm of X max, around 35 hz FS, and I can build a box for it that will have useable output down to 25 hz. Are bigger subs better for lower frequency production? Typically, yes. Does that mean that smaller subs can’t play low? Absolutely not.
Cool your local shop is coming out with their own products. Not to distract, but as one who believes in the added advantage of installing Marine stereo eqpt. into a car, it would be interesting to see some interest and reviews of Marine equipment time to time. Ex. the Garmin Fusion Signature subwoofers though not cheap boast some very good numbers. Marine equipment, in my opinion is sturdier built and mandatory CEI rating being a necessary part of the business to be sold and get the "Marine" designation. (around where I live in Ohio the selection of car stereo places are few and far between with Marine equipment basically 1 high priced boat dealer. So thanks for the internet. I'd say Best Buy is the best store if you want something installed. Next to me that is. lol. I can do a better and cheaper install but still with the economy hardly anyone is upgrading their car's stereo right now. Something else I do is offer to work 3rd shift at night so a customer can have their car during the day no extra charge. Mostly no extra charge anyway. Shhh. lol .
Decent looking subs, but an 8 you can barely move min as well be a mid bass driver it must have n FS of 60 or so. 8s should only be considered if there's no other option, many people have bought 8s thinking there gonna bump from all the recent hype on them, yeah there technically a sub yeah they make bass but what you get is a punchy sub that doesn't shine down low. I have a recoil Echo 8 in a boombox and it sounded great in a boombox. After a year of constant pounding it actually has an FS of 29! It sounds buttery smooth but limited in output I tossed an echo pro in it and it tested out to an FS of 43htz and it does not sound as good. I took the echo and mounted it in my bedroom wall under the TV with about 1/3rd of a bay about 1cf with recoil 6.5" blues components in the next over bays using the full bay, the sub doesn't bump as good as the boom box it's mounted solid with wood ring in and out but the sheetrock is flexing pretty bad and I didn't port it. It works ok good enough to make deeper bass for a TV, the blues components sound great. I'm using an Amazon 38v 2.1 fan cooled chip amp, 6.5s with tweets are 4 ohm and sub is D2 at 4ohm which is supposedly 160wx3
Not entirely true. Case in point, a few years ago I bought 4 of the cheapest 8” woofers I could find on Parts Express. They were $8 each, had an FS of 47 hz, and were definitely a midbass driver. I built a custom 4th order box for them, and with 500 watts they hit 135 db at 47 hz(the resonant frequency of my car at the time). They played VERY good down to 30 hz where they started to drop off. Here locally, there is a young high school kid(I volunteer with our local ISD so I had a chance to talk to him about this setup) with a Ford F250 that has a box under his back seat with four DD drive 8” subwoofers that plays EXTREMELY deep, and loud. His truck can easily be heard 2 blocks away on music playing around 30 hz. What most don’t understand is the box is the most critical part of the subwoofer system. You can buy the cheapest subwoofers that you can find, and if you put them in an incredibly designed and built box then they can play low and loud. At the same time, you can buy a Sundown NSV sub and put it in a crappy box and it won’t do any better than some premium factory sound systems do. A system that I just recently took out of a car had eight 6 1/2” woofers in an infinite baffle setup. They have an FS of 51 hz, yet while running on a JP8, their output did not start to drop until you got down to 30 hz with useable output down to 25 hz before bottoming out. These 6 1/2” woofers were also purchased from Parts Express(I love that place for cheap woofers to play with) and cost about $9 each. A small subwoofer can be made to play loud in subwoofer frequencies. You just can’t expect them to play 140 db at 25 hz with a single small 8” sub.
