- You feel me
away far too empty, oh so alone!
I want to go home
Oh find me inside of a nocturne - the blonde
how I love you to be by my side
they wail...
the crowd on her side
she straggled the bridge by the water...
She misses her crawl
far ley grew
heady aside in a dell
inside an eye be the lonely one, my bride
how I leave on the waddling wheel
they flail...
a gasp shringing
a bad bell's ringing
the angel - the daughter...
You feel me... - Видеоклипы
Syd wasn't depressed. He FELT differently. Not everybody wants to be a huge rock star, live in a jet, and sell trillions of albums. Sometimes they want to live in their childhood home, make art, and have a cat. He didn't have as many albums as Pink Floyd, or make millions of dollars. But he left behind two amazing works of art, in the vein of Lord Byron with a guitar, yet people are still in love with the myth of 'crazy Syd'. Quite sad really.
Thank you
While most of that is true.
Syd was a soul that carried alot of luggage.
He was sad, and he was lost.
The drugs didn't help either. In fact they turned on him.
He was an amazing artist who gave us some beautiful work
Rest In Peace Syd ( for all who suffer with mental health REST being the key word and PEACE being the catalyst to that)
Sounds like me! Introverted genius 🤷🏻♂️
I think Syd just wanted to create music with his mates.
He didn't care about being rich and famous. Roger was the one who pushed Syd beyond what he wanted to accomplish.
Thank you so much...
One of the greatest artists ever. Eternal love for Syd...
When Syd doesn't sing for the 3rd verse and all you hear is his acoustic, it's STILL so amazingly stirring. Even when he play simple major and minor chords, his otherworldly rhythmic sense and incredible dynamics take it to another level.
after reading the words its clear this guy was a great poet
Yes I'm thinking.
Yes I'm thIIIIIiiiiiIIIIIıııııı *IIIIIIIIIIII*
The chord changes in this are insane.
It's seriously some Captain Beef heart shit, it's crazy lol
@@mr.nazareth4501 it's really simple (in G major) I, IV, II, iii, vi, V7 - VI, IV, V7, I, IV, IV6, V7, I - completely tonal, syd had a way of making really simple harmonic structures sound interesting but beefheart tho? half his shit didnt even use chords in the traditional sense lol
he once said; I think it's good if a song has more than one meaning. Maybe that kind of song can reach far more people..
Jan Kampers and it's true
Ambiguity is a device that Syd's genius never leant on I feel ( like most writers did). He was 'out there' truly 'OUT THERE'. So yes there may have been multiple meanings in the work, but HE started the fractal off by originality.
That is to say you are right. (lawd I talk shit sometimes)
When, i mean in an interview or somethig like that? (Sorry for my english)
That's such a cliche. Everyone says that about their art.
When it changes from minor to major key on "they wail" I can hear an explosion within the hidden dimensions of the universe.
Me too :-)
The perfect description
Carlo Marchiori YES
Carlo Marchiori, I do feel the same but on "I want to go home" 0:10 and a bigger explosion on "blonde"0:15.
"I lost my sense. I sense my lost." (B. Corgan) :_)
Cmaj 7 to Emaj
I would consider this the most beautiful pop tune ever written. Its almost intimidating in its excellence.
I heard from other interviews something to the contrary. He was not as unstable as people around him thought he was, he didn't even take as much acid as people said he did, apparently in 1967, his housemates said he couldn't have taken more than 10 trips in that year alone. I think the urban legend of Syd definitely and exaggerates things a bit.
Obviously. People make ridiculous, impossible stories.
this is slowly becoming my favorite post Floyd song that Syd ever wrote
Syd was brilliant. He had a lovely singing voice and wrote great songs.
I want to go home
Me too :-)
I want to go home now.
Im only a stranger at home
This song gives me mad feels. Love you Syd, you changed my life.
Makes me cry this it's so beautiful. U can here syds mind crying
We all are unite here cause Syd!!! Thank you
Every time i listen this song, I feel my heart stop in order to not allow any other sound disturb the feelings it raises. I listened yesterday after many years this song and it still has the same effect.
Oh Syd.. You are so lovable..!
yes he is so loveble mamas ..at least for all the locos like us
the man was cracking up yet still manages 2 make something so beautiful sound effortless
Lol 'effortless' is one word I would *not* use to describe this track.
Greatest British songwriter....the stops and starts, the complexities, there is no one better
My favourite all time album
On "she straggled the bridge by the water..." and "the angel - the daughter..." there's something so beautiful in his voice and sort of religious how it's constructed, not to mention the mention of an angel... he was just an angel, a fallen angel
It's honestly astonishing how much his music inspired other artists.
It is like every month I learn another artist I like was a fan of his stuff, be it solo or his era of Pink Floyd.
Tragic we never gotten more from him, but I think he was likely content with that.
This album of his Reminds me of Neutral Milk Hotel aeroplane album. :) well mostly Jeff Mangum .
I adore Syd.
I LOVE that raw, uncut ending!
A masterpiece
I love Syd, I adore him with every single somatic cell of my body!!! When I listen to his songs my heart is full of tears and laughter at the same time!
Yes me too. I don't know why these songs affected me so much but they did
people are still listening to this in 2017 xD !!
I''m glad you exist
L. Lawliet may syd shine on
19*
2024*
this is a perfect song, actually is more than that...
Te amo, Syd.
Beijos do Brasil pra você aonde estiver, esteja em paz.
Agora ele está...em paz. Definitivamente não pertencia a esse mundo
I find it incredibly awesome that for someone who just may be the most talented lyricist in modern music he has a song titled "Word Song"
Brings a tear to my eye Luv Syd..
You have NO idea exactly how Syd felt or what he felt. Even those closest to him (outside of his family), David Gilmour and Rick Wright, could only guess at what was really going on in Syd's mind. What his behavior does suggest is that for some reason or reasons he experienced a great deal of mental suffering - the worst thing there is in this life.
@Alexandra Tokareva Armchair psychiatrists are so goddamn annoying is exactly what he's saying here.
Im going through this shit man is so hard man
“Nocturne de Blonde” is a painting . And “ the crab on her side she struggled a bridge by the water “.
Syd was okay. He was an odd character, but he was fine. I like his childish voice; very melodic. He was just a young man trying to find himself, and he just drifted away from the fame thing that he obviously wasn't interested in. That's okay; I don't see why people make a big fuss about that, speculating this and that.
beautifully played..poignant intimate and timeless.
Rest in peace You legend ♡
@ItGirl666 Actually Syd did quite well financially in his last years thanks to interest taken in him. There were some years he earned 1million+ through royalties of music he made with Pink Floyd. In that respect, he did better than his dad, his mother, his sisters and his brothers, who ALL had successful careers themselves. The moral of this story: It pays to live in your childhood home, make art and have a cat!
Such an amazing song, thank you Syd
A bit strange it ends like that but I really enjoyed Madcap Laughs songs, no matter what critics said and wrote ...
my fav syd song.
There are no false starts in this song. It's exactly how he wanted it.
LSD and the 90’s with Barrett was bliss
now this has always been a favourite off the album for me -beautifully played and sung,it was indeed 'diamond'
magnifico
I find his mistakes and false starts to be unbearably cute and human.
I dont know. He seems to be like...struggling.
OR as he himself stated: "I tattooed my brain all the way." - (LSD)
@@darioramonetti1483 Yeah, I'm pretty much just like, "Are you okay?" Which is probably silly since he's obviously not :(
Nah @ struggling. His voice cracked, that's all. I agree with OP.
There are no false starts or mistakes in this song. Now if you want to say that about the following song, then yes
a fantastic song. unique voice .. it is very difficolt to sing it.
...my BRIDE!!! LOVE U SID X
i have tears im eyes....oh syd........you are so lovely
Syd's best song. Well, this and Dominoes.
i agree but also Here I Go
@@gabeharrell2819 Here I Go is excellent I agree. Maisie as well. And Effervescing Elephant.
I'd like to add Terrapin as well
@@stonedsoulpicnic addition accepted!
@@yahstino thank you :)
Surreal
Those closest to Syd - the other members of Pink Floyd - have stated clearly and for the record that his personality changed drastically over the course of a single weekend, and that he was never the same again. That strongly suggests some sort of drug-induced psychosis.
Beautiful! Thanks so much for posting.
Love this song. So Romantic
ESSA MÚSICA SINTETIZA UMA TRISTEZA PROFUNDA....ESTADO DE ESPÍRITO...
This and Dominoes are my favourites of Syd's.
Adoro essa música!
Sublime !! Syd barret te amo
Very awesome Syd .
Beautiful
What’s left of a great mind. Such a horrific tragedy.
Amazing!
esse cara é um gênio não compreendido, como que alguém criticava o fato dele não cantar no tempo? ele só tava descontruindo um conceito
When I was a teenager, I use to take LSD and listen to Syd Barrett records. I'm 34 now, anybody have any acid?
I do, but I’d rather have mushrooms
I am on it now
I cant find any shrooms or acid. But in the 70s it was easy,..
Perfect
Legend
Happy birthday Syd !
@TheBraybeatles thanks! I loved Syds music from the moment I first heard it.
2:18 EEEEEEEEHHHH EEEEEEEH ! love it.
Owww syd❤ 2019 Brasil/Fortaleza
His friends & band members said that even though many would say he was just different or on a higher cosmic level (which I agree but still) he had problems & the drugs he took just brought out those problems. (Which is also a well known that LSD does that & he took large amount of LSD every single day) So yeah he was actually crazy & if his closest ones accepted that fact you should too instead of acting like a smartass. I love Syd the most of all members but facts are facts. Deal with it.
It is weird Malcom Jones who worked with him during this album said he didn't notice anything wrong about him , and never witnessed any weird episode
i couldnt agree more with you Laura..
@Maczinga My friend, I can't even translate Syd's songs into english..lol. Thats the beauty of Syd Barrett...
I want to live to this
Gilmour and Waters kind of fucked this part of the album up with the take count and speaking afterwards. This is a perfectly good performance and a beautiful song. Their inclusion of the extra stuff was unnecessary.
Querían mostrar el supuesto desastroso estado mental de Barrett, ellos sabrían porqué.Quizas pensaban que les iba a eclipsar.Dudo mucho de su amistad.
@@sandrak3706 They gaslighted the fuck out of the poor man and he knew it. If you take away the "tragic man you can hear it," element and replace it more with a creative punk rock attitude it all becomes much clearer. Vegetable Man is pure punk, and it's "you think I'm a fuckin retard don't you?" Scream thy last scream is something like: "Kick up a fuss you conservatives, lol" Jugband Blues is "I know you're pretending I'm mad, I know what you're doing," etc. No one writes a song like "Have you got it yet?" and hasn't got a wicked sense of humour. Much of the stuff on Madcat (Yes I'm calling it that cos Gilmour is an asshole, what mate you were in the studio and you still couldn't hear the correct lyric? I'm on a computer 50 years later and I can hear it, you were there) is fucking incredible. Multiple layers of guitar played by who? And mulititracked harmonies. This isn't someone who is fucked up and incapable of music. Waters and Gilmour are full of shit. Jealousy is a terrible thing.
"i dont know why but his voice and tone in this brilliant song remind me of moriarty in the series "sherlock
Gilmour and Waters were always a bit jealous of him.
sad its been 3 yrs since anyone listened to this syd song. not his best but the reason floyd began.
Syd eventually went home
💓
@ArnoldLayne87 It shows me how hard he was to work with, but this spontaneous piece is actually fun to listen to. We get a glimpse into his psyche in 1971 and into the way the songs were produced. It's a beautiful thing. Made me laugh, too.
You feel me
Away far too empty
Oh, so alone
I want to go home
Oh, find me inside of a nocturne, the blonde
How I love you to be by my side
They wail
The crowd on her side
She straggled the bridge by the water
She misses her crawl
Far ley grew
Heady aside in a dell
Inside an eye be the lonely one, my bride
How I leave on the waddling wheel
They flail
A gasp shringing
A bad bell's ringing
The angel, the daughter
You feel me
Away far too empty
Oh, so alone
I want to come home
Oh, find me inside of a nocturne, the blonde
How I love you to be by my side
They wail
The crowd on her side
She straggled the bridge by the water
It’s “Nocturne de Blonde”, a painting . And he clearly sings “the crab on her side, she struggled a bridge by the water .
I think it’s about a suicide and he wants to get lost in a big painting . A crab on its back or side will die after much struggle.
He included a lot of critters in his songs
Been looking for this forever, thought I'd never find it again
You feel me... away far too empty, Oh so alone!
1 take. btw the song is called "Diamond"
unbelievable
@moobert22 With the possible exception of "Here I Go," what Barrett song DOES make sense? To me, that's the beauty of his style. On some of them, you have to read the lyrics 100 times to get it.
There really is no "story". There are as many stories as there are people telling. Rick said Syd was an acid casualty. Roger said he was schizophrenic. Others said he was extremely depressed. Syd's sister Rosemary said he just didn't want to be part of the music business anymore. Everyone said something different. Everyone, regardless of knowing him or not, witnessing his problems first hand or not, tells a different story. No two are the same. Thoughtful speculation from a fan is not that bad.
The Floyd's unforgotten hero!
It was interesting song
It wasn't just some day when they were recording the Wish You Were Here album... it was in fact the very day they were recording the SONG Wish You Were Here.
@manzaniita94 I mourn for him when I hear some of these songs, unfinished. He grew increasingly difficult to work with as time progressed. But even then, you (and they) knew he was a creative genius; but when he stopped making music (and eventually art) altogether, I just want to cry.
I know your comment is 5 years old, but I'd like to say that Syd didn't stop making art. He made paintings into his old age.
+Proteus True that. He got better as he got older, too.
'Far Leg Room'
He did have a big ol' Pontiac at the time!
me siento vacio
cool
you can, you can hear studio banter and waters was in the studio producing this track with gilmour during this time of recording, summer of '69. Its always dude to do research before we go off insulting people
They were recording Shine On You Crazy Diamond
This first take demo of a lovely song by a very talented man with mental health issues is better than Rogers Waters entire solo work isn't that something.
Neat cover. Never seen the Japanese version.
@ArnoldLayne87 I think you might have something there Arnold, by the way- great name, one of my all time favorite rock tunes...
