I am 75 years old with good eye sight, but hands not as strong as when I was 60. This gun felt right, shot right, and concealed right. Hats off to HK from a senior citizen 👍👍
I have the USP in .45 ACP & the P30 V3 in 9MM. The sights are very good on both guns. The recoil system on both guns functions very well. The .45ACP recoils like a normal 9MM not to mention 12+1 capacity.
I was carrying a P30 .40 s&w when I put my bike down. my gun come out of my belt clip and slid on concrete. not a scratch on it and when I pulled it apart to clean it there was no damage. I do not regret buying this one bit. beside that I love that there is basically no recoil for it being a larger caliber.
Tru dat. Very balanced weapon system. Eats every bullet brand I've fed it. The extra weight at the muzzle counters muzzle rise for faster target reacquisition. Retrofitted with an aftermarket compensator and flared magwell, this gun is badass.
Bought this gun when it first came out. Went to the gun shop wanted a M&P. Counter guy told me told old one of these BOUGHT IT RIGHT THERE. PROUD TO SAY p30 was my first gun I OWNED.
My Hk45c is backup to my a Hk USP45. I've had glocks and Xd's and sig and they all kick ass, I love glock for putting firearms in the hands of men and women for $500 that's what it's all about, saving lives. My personal choice is to run with HK, they just run perfect in all aspects, plus packing an HK is just plain CLASSY.
Beautiful HK pistol. It truly is the most comfortable feeling handgun that I have ever held. It feels like it was custom molded to your hand. If you can afford them, HKs are definitely worth the $$$.
Great video Tom!!! I own a P30 in 40 and am absolutely in love with it - extremely reliable, accurate and easy to operate. Some folks might not like the mag release but I love it because I don't have to change my shooting grip when changing magazines. If folks don't like the da/as trigger or are striker fired fans, they should try the LEM trigger. Very easy to carry and eats whatever I feed it.
I just picked up the P2000 LEM. I'm new to the gun club and had to practice on family's glocks and sigs. I really didn't care for them. Then, I went to a gun shop and the guy put this one in my hand. My reaction? Oh my! This gun fits in my hand as warmly as my custom ice skates fit on my feet. Took it to the range today for the first time, fired 115gr and 124gr NATO. The action, recoil, accuracy were incredible-BTW, the 124gr performed much better. Everything in this vid is dead on. I have a western six-shooter and now this HK. This gun is sweet!
Nice vid. as always... I agree with you 100% Tom! I bought the same P30 9mm last year, and it was my first HK. Now I am a true fan! I have several Glocks, but the HK is much higher quality, and worth the extra money as you said for sure! Once I put that P30 in my hand, I was hooked! Most ergonomic gun I own, period... The next one I am looking at is the HK USPc 40, which you have a couple of or more, lol!
Just bought a P30 in .40, for no real good reason since I own a USP in .40 as well. I have absolutely loved my USP, and have never found a .40 that shoots nearly as well. I put a little over 100 rounds through my P30 today, and it is a remarkable gun. The jury is out as to whether I like it better than my USP, but the ergonomics are better, and I seem to be able to make accurate shots faster, it is even faster back on target than the USP, which is a huge selling point of that gun over other .40s. Plus, being more compact and not having a safety, I likely will put this gun in rotation for concealed carry.
You Channel is titled perfectly. I wish they were range included. You are truly a Gun enthusiast. Seeing you shoot and the what I would call the "class room instruction" is second to none. Thanks for all of you direction, instruction and guidance.
Just got a P30L in 40 and I traded a Sig emperor scorpion carry fastback for it- GLAD I DID. Also fitted an efk 9mm conversion barrel. This pistol has to be the best feeling polymer pistol I have ever fired. Something else special about the P30 is with a 9mm conversion barrel is that the recoil spring is 12lbs. with 40 or 9. The recoil buffers are different because of obvious difference in recoil so there is no need to have to get a second recoil spring for the caliber change. Also I have found that 9mm will feed and eject from the 40 mags! I would not recommend carrying it with the change unless you had 9mm mags in it. But for range fun it works! Amazing pistol and as always great video!
I think my wife will love this gun. Less recoil, comfortable grip and easier to pull the slide back and of course, I get to use it as well :) Great video Tom, we will definitely check it out next time and possibly be my anniversary gift for her. God bless!
I have a FNX 45 and I absolutely love it! However, I've been eyeing these HK's for a while now and I'm digging them more and more. I'm going to pick up that HK 45c for another conceal carry weapon. And, when I watched the movie John Wick for a second time today, I noticed that he was working with a HK as well and that really kicked me over the edge. Lol! I think it is used in the movie Collateral as well with Tom Cruise. Great piece!
You speak the truth my friend I rented this specific Model P30 the short framed pistol it shot smoothly it has such a light grip great ergonomics and the trigger pull felt real light I loved it
Love the mag release...its easier to reach and use and it only makes sense, in position and function. honestly besides the grip...the mag release sold me. love the way the magazine pops out and i was looking for a gun that doesnt have the button, so only made sense to go with HK.
I has this gun with the short reset kit and little lighter hammer spring. Sold my CZ P01 to give the P30 a try. With that said I like my CZ P01 better. The P01 has a bit less flip with thew lower bore and my hand sits higher, fires faster, much better trigger making it more accurate for it. Both have great build quality. The P30 is a ounce or two lighter and hold 3 rounds more (I got 17 round mags). But the P01 just shoots more naturally for me.
You're awesome dude, I actually learn stuff watching your vids.. Most people say the same basic crap everyone already knows.. You explain things very well and that's what sets you apart
Just got one, used my best yet. Was going to buy the 19 glock- seen the H&K asked to check it out. The moment i held it- i did want it,only after looking at barrell feed and internals.
I started with my HK USP.40, from there I bought my V30L, then my VP9. I also have the HK 91, 93, 94, and SP89. Guess you could say I just love the quality of my HK weapons.
HK has something the largest minority (almost 15%) in the US will REALLY care about. Ambidextrous controls! Hey gun manufacturers - STOP BEING BIGOTS. Completely support the left handed population. S&W M&P pistols have ambi slide locks, but you have to flip flop the mag release (useless if more than one one person with different handedness will use it). Springfield has ambi mag release, but fails with the slide lock. Glock? "What is left handed?" I realize that most of the right handed out there don't give a rip about the left handed controls because it's not on their radar, but think about this - what if you said you don't care about the black or Hispanic or Asian American shooters?? And they each make up less of the population than left the handed. When will firearm manufacturers go ahead and make their products FULLY ambidextrous? It's amazing!
I saw you wrestling to get the slide into position for disassembly as you held the grip with your right hand. The way I do it is as per the manual, but inverted - I put my thumb and index finger around the beavertail and the back of the slide with the barrel facing outwards and the grip towards me. In this way my index and middle fingers have a very good control on the slide holding it in place only by tightening the grip after I have pushed it back with my left hand by the front serrations. On a side note, for me the best combination of the side panels is if the one going into my palm is a bigger size than the opposing one, thus filling my hand nicely on the inside while on the other side my fingers are closed at an angle for minimal slippage.
Just purchased an HK P30sk; great gun but the paddle magazine release buttons are terrible. For me, I found it very difficult to engage the magazine release paddles. Just wish they had the old standard release buttons, more natural and easier to engage.
That's a sweet piece. My only complaint would be the mag release. I like it, but I'd trade it for the button to have the trigger guard swell up just a hair more so the middle finger could rest higher.
One big thing I've noticed from various online comments is that people don't seem to understand that the "day glow" sights they've been putting on their pistols aren't some lame way to compensate for the laws that prevent H&K using the materials required to make night sights - they're low light condition sights that happen to also work in the dark. That's the genius of the design but all you'll hear from anti-H&K people is "for a thousand bucks, it should come with proper night sights".
I disagree, it's not one of the best, it's the best feeling gun on the market. Even better than a Walther P99. With the "S" model, you get a safety, so you can carry it cocked and locked, just like a 1911. About the slide release sticking out, it comes in handy with gloved hands. About the Glock, I have one. I had to change the barrel because I reload and am uncomfortable with the unsupported chamber. The plastic sights had to be replaced. How cheap is the Glock now? I love the mag release, and can't understand why some people don't like it. You should probably add to check the gun once more before dry firing. Many ND's occur from not checking to see if round is chambered. What I think? There is no better production gun on the market. If you want a 1911 trigger, get a 1911.
R Dizzle83 maybe, if you only plan to shoot the 30 LEM. If you prefer hammer, DA/SA then it's the 30 - does the vp9 have the same grip? I'd like to try the 30 but I'm in CA, so I'm Not sure if it's even possible to purchase. I'll have to settle for the HK45.
+youtubed I own a VP40 and I've heard, from other reviewers - reviewing the VP9 - that it has a similar grip texture. I think the P30 is supposed to be finer, or more aggressive.
Nice video, thanks. I jumped on the P30 with the safety, to carry cocked & locked, right after they came out. I love my Sig's, Walther's, Colt 1911's, S&W wheel guns; dang....all of them, but my P30 in .40S&W is sweet.
I've had a few pistols .This by far is the best.i wish I did have it when I was with department. thankyou for a great video and Sharing keep them coming .!!!
Great company. I got the old school USP 45 that I really enjoy shooting! The P30 does have a great grip as a buddy of mine bought the 9mm version a few months ago. He doesn't seem to like it and I believe he wants to trade it off. If I didn't have plans to obtain some 1911s I'd probably talk price with him. They can be had for $900 around here however what's interesting about HK (and even Colt) the prices vary big time for some reason.
The night sights look amazing, with the 2-3 seconds from the flash light. However, it's completely unrealistic in a self defense situation. A criminal isn't gonna wait for you to brighten up your sights. They'll be attacking before you can get your flashlight out of your pocket. Nice review other than that.
No, I realize how it works. The problem is the firearm will be holstered & out of the sunlight. I'm fairly certain the police would be called if someone has their gun unholstered. That would be the only way to charge them. Now I could be wrong, but other reviews stated that the night sights only last for 1.5 hours, before needing to be charged again. Seems like a real hassle, unless the charge lasted for at least 8-12 hrs. Thanks for the reply & keep up the good reviews.
Matthew Perry Yes, the charge is only for about 1-1/2 hours. An attack will usually be less than 2-3 seconds; not enough time to pull your flashlight. I have replaced my OEM sights with Trijicon HD's.
I had the same concern with my hk45. If you want tritium instead, you can buy it. But not all night time encounters would require instantaneous use of the firearm. There are many times at home that I hear noises and have time to break pistol, light, phone, turn out lights, warn wife an child then follow through.
I have a P30 and overall I have been loving it. Excellent accuracy and very little recoil. The review is correct though in stating that the grip is second to no one. Also VERY easy to disassemble and clean. IMO - I am not super excited about the trigger so far, compared to other handguns I have shot. Just doesn’t feel responsive enough for me. I also do not love the sights (which is why I have been shopping around for replacements). I do not know why HK thought that glow in the dark sights would be a good option.
I just joined your forum Tom, when I shot the HK it felt nice in the hand, I was not to crazy about the trigger it felt a bit spongy. for me it was just not one of those guns I fell in love with when I picked it up, but that don't mean I would not like to own one. I just think it is a gun I need put some time in to get the feel of it.
Probably one of my biggest complaints about owning HK is that they don't like having mag interchangeability. I hope they come out with a striker pistol in the future. I'd imagine it would be similar to the walther ppq
I can see this awesome pistol every day since has been adopted by the Swiss Law Enforcement . In fact with this pistol, they replaced the Sig Sauer 226 (by the way still in use in some Police Departments). I also have seen it at the range, it is very accurate however a bit pricy.
Good video Tom. Love my P30L. Most accurate and the recoil I 40 cal is still very controllable. Love the surf board slide release. The ONLY complaint I have is the long travel in the trigger. Probably the only thing Glock has on this gun. Ps Tom, got the T-shirt in The fat kid size you sent me. Been rockin it for one day and already two people up here in Boston at the Marathon recognized you and love your vids. Can't wait to get my holster I ordered for my 500.
Great video. While I have a variety of guns including several Glocks I do not have an HK handgun. I do have an HK 91 and HK 94, both pre-ban, which are excellent weapons. I'm tempted to buy the P30.
Thoughts on the sights. Your sig lites must be dead. So a comparison to dead nights isn’t really fair. Second the problem I see with hk sight is that they need that light to charge. If I have to pull my gun in self defense. It’s been in my holster getting no light. So they won’t work at all. And if I’m in a situation I have to pull my gun I don’t have time to pull out my flashlight and charge them
I don't know about that one... If you've ever done any low light shooting, the traditional night sights are quite hard to pick up in darkness. In a defensive situation at night, your first shots will most likely be point of aim instinctive shots. If you have time to take cover and then return fire, these sights are very useful. Once charged (and it happens instantly after being exposed to light), you can make a highly precision shot with this firearm. I have a P30 and speak from experience.
Thanks for the great video on the HK P30. Great stuff. I would love to try one out. I currently CC a Glock 21 Gen 4 with Trijicon HD night sights (Lime and orange - Love them) and a FN Browning High Power as my go to guns. I am interested in getting a Sig and now a HK. (finances) I really like the sights and other features you pointed out on the P30. Well done block of instruction and very well accepted. Thank you for sharing with the rest of us.
Very nice review. I already have the HK45 and I think I am going to buy its little brother the P30 in 9mm. You are 100% right about the quality of an HK. It's something you have to shoot to appreciate. You may have said but what variant is this P30? I like the decocker on the back of the frame instead of the one on the side.
Great gun but regarding the sights I gotta say, it’s a nice idea but if I’m an officer on duty at 2:00am or a soldier and have to go to my firearm, I don’t have time to hit my sights with a flashlight nor would I want to give up my position for tactical reasons not to mention blowing my night vision to shit. I think just replace with a good quality night sight. Or there than that these are superior firearms.
I had to carry an Hk when i was working security and fell in love with it, it was better than all the other guns in the weapons locker , and now that i see this video i think ill get one :)
Ryan Watson I have both and I find the trigger on the p226 a little better but the grip and recoil on the h&k was a little better than the sig, don't get me wrong they both have cadillac recoil that's very quick to get you back on target.
imho since I have an HK p30, a few Sig 226s, and some glocks that trigger wise the Sig 226 takes it because of the srt. It rocks no doubt. The grip and overall recoil I feel is beat with the p30 and glocks are pretty cool cuz of the low bore axis which also helps with recoil. All are good weapons so it all goes down to the preferences you feel are important
In a real night fire fight, you aren't going to have time to get the gun out of the holster and it the sighted with light just to get them to illuminate! Dim indirect light will be all you have to work with in the best case scenario!
Another nice review Tom, You forgot to mention the grooves around the magazine well to facilitate the pull of the magazine in case or a malfunction. God bless
I have the HK45 and the VP9. You are 100% right about having to shoot an HK to appreciate how nice they are and that they are worth the $1000 price tag. I am going back and forth on which one to get next, the P30L or the USP. Any suggestions?
I own the P30L. I had two stove pipes with the first 50 rounds I ever shot with it. After that it has never ever had any malfunction again (even with crappy Russian 9mm) and by now I have shot at least 5500 rounds with it... Plus I don't clean it that much. The Norwegian police has adopted it as their service gun.
Hk p30 is a great gun, no doubt about it, one of the nicest guns in the world. I however have found the perfect mix of hk/glock and that my friend is the walther ppq. The ppq trigger is something to write home about. I'm still gonna get a p30 one day though, lol
I am 75 years old with good eye sight, but hands not as strong as when I was 60. This gun felt right, shot right, and concealed right. Hats off to HK from a senior citizen 👍👍

You definitely need a better holster. You should throw in a Kore Essentials belt too!!
There is only one thing better than the P30, and that's P30L.
And I have it bro I have sigs and CZ but my p30 l is my favorite gun

I picked up a Brand New one in .40 S&W yesterday for $475.00 out the door. Probably the best firearm bargain I've ever gotten.

Thanks for stopping by Sootch, I love your channel.

I'm a glock guy too, but I've wanted an HK forever. This is the one. Great vid Tom!
This is an amazing HK, buy it now !
I picked mine up today. I haven't fired it yet , but I love it. I have shot other H&K's
I call the pattern on the P2000 the "Matrix grip".
Tom, watched your video review and went and bought the Version 1 with the LITE trigger. Excellent, thorough review. You sold me on this pistol!
Congratulations, you made my day :) !
How anyone could not love that mag release is beyond me. After using my USP I hate to deal with the button release on my other handguns.
H&K re fitted our assault rifles in the royal navy. Quality was extremely high. Might get one of these... Although I do like the F&N FiveseveN more.
Tom you forgot to talk about the polygonal grooving in the barrel which increases accuracy due to more specific spin of the projectile!
I think you will like this video I produced ruclips.net/video/nq5uUn-Lgvs/видео.html
The night sights look amazing, with the 2-3 seconds from the flash light. However, it's completely unrealistic in a self defense situation. A criminal isn't gonna wait for you to brighten up your sights. They'll be attacking before you can get your flashlight out of your pocket. Nice review other than that.
What you do not realize is that sun light keeps those sights bright
No, I realize how it works. The problem is the firearm will be holstered & out of the sunlight. I'm fairly certain the police would be called if someone has their gun unholstered. That would be the only way to charge them. Now I could be wrong, but other reviews stated that the night sights only last for 1.5 hours, before needing to be charged again. Seems like a real hassle, unless the charge lasted for at least 8-12 hrs.
Thanks for the reply & keep up the good reviews.
Matthew Perry
Yes, the charge is only for about 1-1/2 hours.
I do have a P30 on order and it should be shipped today. Can't wait to shoot it!
7 years later this gun is still sexy and is relevant
probably my next gun, SO glad they aren't a thousand bucks anymore!
I'd imagine it would be similar to the walther ppq
mike34744 I'm not sure why it took H&K this long to get that right.
You will love your holster, thanks
Love the gun bought one in .40 after watching your video!
(finances)
I really like the sights and other features you pointed out on the P30.
Excellent handgun and great video. Another must have is the Steyr S-40. Simply awesome. Also waiting for the Beretta APX in .40.
I know someone who just got one of these.
Thank you Santa
Congratulations!
HK Video Please Subscribe
I had to carry an Hk when i was working security and fell in love with it, it was better than all the other guns in the weapons locker , and now that i see this video i think ill get one :)
Hello Tom that's a very nice double action,,, i just bought a S&W M&P 9 full size as my first handgun , i really like your holsters as well
Sickestonesriders MinistryClub
Thanks for mentioning my custom leather line of holsters
Ryan Watson I have both and I find the trigger on the p226 a little better but the grip and recoil on the h&k was a little better than the sig, don't get me wrong they both have cadillac recoil that's very quick to get you back on target.
In
imho since I have an HK p30, a few Sig 226s, and some glocks that trigger wise the Sig 226 takes it because of the srt.
Love the P30L in 40 as well as the 9mm P30SK. Will but the P30SK in 40 if its ever released
Another nice review Tom, You forgot to mention the grooves around the magazine well to facilitate the pull of the magazine in case or a malfunction. God bless
Thanks for bring that up:)
Love that gun. Got the grey frame version.
Very Nice review Tom. I have been looking at the KH and will buy one now.
You will love the HK
Thanks Tom
I did not realize this video was 24 minutes, I just love the gun so much !
I have the HK45 and the VP9. You are 100% right about having to shoot an HK to appreciate how nice they are and that they are worth the $1000 price tag. I am going back and forth on which one to get next, the P30L or the USP. Any suggestions?
Jeremy Hurt Get the .45 USP now...
Weapons Education "now", thats a good way to answer. I once purchased a USP 45T. That has been an expensive decision. Somehow it has multiplied.
If you already have the 45, the USP is a double stack with thicker grip not liked by some small hands
such a good choice im looking at up grading my usp to getting a p30
The USP is amazing also, it is my favorite .45 polymer gun
Just the usp is a little to big for my hands, enter the p30
just bought one today looking forward to shooting it
Have one in 40 cal and love the gun even though 40 is not my favorite round
Tom, if you love the p30 you need to shoot the hk45 and hk45c.
Thanks for this vid. This will be my next gun purchase. Subbed!
You will love this HK
Those night sights are badass
German technology at its finest, love it.
Thank you for a very good info on this weapon. I would like something on the FN 509 to see which is the best choice.
I LOVE my H&K P30
I just bought a P30, my question is now 7 years after you made this video, do still love the P30?
Yes, it is still one of their top sellers.
