The amount of times they say "something was missing" is wild considering they don't sound sure what it was
thats esports as a whole, its hard to pin point exactly what the issues are and how to fix them, most of the time you have to make a roster change if its just not working. But historically one man changes in esports really dont do much
The something that was absent was decent jungle picks, but that’s inferred obviously
Scream and ven, especially ven, would make good politicians, they answered the questions without really answering them, funny for this to happen after zap getting screwed during the earlier rosterpocalypse by this team
What really kills me is if you look back at this teams core and who’s the weakest link it’s always been ven lol. You can only get soloed by pegon soo many times and 90% of worlds matches this team has been in ven has literally thrown the game away😂. Go watch ssgvsghost S7. Ven literally trolled that game. Gotta watch out in the jungle. Could be snakes around

There just aren’t other mid options atm but there are other adc options. That’s pretty much what happened
From that perspective I understand but 90% of this video is scream and ven basically trying to throw barra under the bus. I understand barra doesn’t make crazy plays or 1v1s like zap and other adc’s but he hasn’t been the reason they’ve lost games. Haddix left them for levis just to get eliminated first round. Scream hasn’t been a top jungler since he won with pbm in s4😂. Literally watch oni warriors against ravens kickoff match earlier this year. Scream was 8 levels down by the 17 minute mark. You cant say you want an assertive backline but continue to play a very black and white version of the game.
@@troylawrence648 Like I said before, either Barra or Ven had to go, and there are no good mid replacements atm. Solo/Jg/Support has been fine, most of the games have been tossed by Ven as of late, but there are no mid replacements.

Scream is really just hopping from team to team and dismantling teams. Dragons, now the Ven/BaRRA/Haddix core, I wonder who's next... Maybe he can finally destroy that Nika/Dardez/Vote core.
Bruh venenu literally said he brought it up, all these comments pretending they know what they are talking about. They are the pros for a reason. If they say there's a compatibility issue then it is what it is not something a fan can see from just watching.

Is it just me or does it sound like it could have easily been Ven getting kicked if another mid laner came up? I mean, Panda has been free all season...
This and honestly should have been the call. Ven is openly saying he cant make calls and we know scream is over the top aggressive in his. Its mid/jungle/support that should be the shot caller. ADC dosent even get the in spot light to make calls until 20 minutes... And even then... they are a shredder. They shred whatever is CC'd in front of them or whatever objective is there. ADC shot callers usually dont work. Cant call a game from far end of the map when you dont do anything until 20 minutes.

Ven saying having a backliner that is more assertive in their calls knowing that he cant be that player is pretty hilarious. Understandable if thats what you want to do but I cant do that so we get rid barra!

He had a point in saying ‘what other mid in the league IS assertive’. There aren’t that many assertive mids in the league. So it’s easier to replace ADC if you need that kind of voice.

@@RaditzAusBaskin said Paul doesn’t comm or talk a ton either. I think it kind of comes with the role because its hard to communicate and shot call a ton when you are focused on hitting abilities. I think thats why Zap is so unique.
2 Villain teams in the SPL
These roster changes do nothing but damage the league. I am so over them. I have stopped reacting to them outside of an eye roll and hoping that the team just absolutely tanks it.
At this point, the only teams that deserve to make a run at Worlds are the Styx and Dragons. Two teams that stuck together, despite an extremely lackluster start to Phase 1, worked on their issues, improved and came together to win it all. That is what a Championship team is.
Teams that make roster changes just before Worlds so they can "improve their chances" don't have the dedication, perseverance and stamina to be called champions.
I hope that Ravens don't even qualify for Worlds. It would be exactly what they deserve.

Really thankful that you brought up the elephant in the room of Zap notably being bad in scrims. It was really interesting to me that a team that historically had decent scrims but couldn't bring those plays to gameday switched to someone who is known to not participate effectively in scrims. . Also am I tripping that the bolts also sited dropping Jake for scrim issues? I hope Barra finds somewhere new or moves into casting-- he is the golden retriever of SPL 😊.
Zap has always had an insane mid carry and ven isnt it to be honest....

I’m quicker to blame Ven. Haven’t liked him since he was shitting on Hurri and then proceeded to get bodied by Pegon and still continues to get chasmed in mid. Barra and Zap are going to play so damn similarly where they’re going to get the hell in there and if the team isn’t following up then he’s gonna die and that’s it. Don’t think the swap is going to make a huge difference.
I agree. Its a mid/jungle league and they dont have a mid lol. Not to mention, zap is going to clash with scream. I can see it happening. Scream gets haddix killed alot like he did to fineokay. He baits his own team. Too many coin flips the way he plays IMO. But ven is the issue at least more than barra IMO.

Really good interview, i think they got the whole "Barra wasn't the problem, but wasn't apart of the solution" part across quite well & that the alternatives were better in Carry than in Mid.
Also lines up with Ven & Barra dropping Jake due to comms, so the underlying problem with the backline was still there even in this team even to a lesser degree, so they decided to change. Sounds like everything was handle as well as they could too!
And in both situations who is the common denominator... its ven. Mids and jungles are running the league 100% and ven just aint in the top 5. They made barra the scapegoat IMO.
@@Sins13 scapegoat? They didn't say anything negative about Barra. They also said that it was between Ven & Barra, so they know the common denominator is both Barra & Ven, not just one of them.
@@onelittlefool Yes I believe they scapegoated Barra when ven should have been the one removed. And the fact they have nothing negative to say and still did it is why I think that. Especially considering Ven is not a top 5 mid but before Panda coming back in the league, I would say barra is a top 5 adc.
I think what sucks about this situation is all of the fans can agree that the ravens were missing something. Since the bolts, the team would have good splits and showings, but would choke at crucial points. They have a really good early game with the ven/hurri/scream 3v3 in mid, and haddix and Barra have always been safe, but there's been soooo many late game seiges and defenses that have gone so wrong off of one fight that have lost them the game. I love Barra, but I feel like Zap is the closest you can get to Barras's experience, and his shot calling is legendary. I'm excited to see how it goes. I was hoping they'd move Barra to the coach to keep him on the team, but that sucks.
They've literally been the same team/core the past 3-4 years. I saw this coming. They weren't going anywhere, I still doubt they will be any better w zap tbh

Honestly scream on one hand was a good addition to motivate them to attack and not just counter/defend but that being said, its just him inting and haddix trying to support while ven was dead or under mid tower and barra split pushing. Barra would be left alone and do well in late team fights. That was always his strength and around playoffs he found an aggressive style and did amazing. Ven is honestly the weak link considering the insane mid talent pool in the league. They traded a smart passive adc who preferred to fight late for a inting adc who usually only wins when his team can win the 4v5 which was usually paul going off. I truly dont think this will change them much. Especially with scream and zap butting heads because I dont see them meshing to be honest but could obviously be wrong.
Side note, ven is basically saying I cant call shit, im being 1v1'd under mid tower 3 times a game so someone else needs to lead because I cant/wont do. Barra was the scapegoat in this IMO.
I'd argue the that Zaps shot calling is actually bad. If you look at his teams, the 1st team he one worlds with lost for 45 mins until Paul won the game for them, and the Leviathans needed anyone with experience. Wowy probably could have won with them
Honestly the SPL has been dull for years. These players that have been in for so long need to just retire and let new blood in instead of gatekeeping. There's good talent out there that only need a chance. Peagon is a great example of a new player getting a chance and dominating. That's what the SPL really needs.

Haddix is a top 5 solo. Ven is not a top 5 mid. Zap only succeeds when he has a carry mid. Ven aint that.
I think if you guys listen to Zap , you will be successful but I saw the last game you guys played with Zap and Hurri makes sooo many mistakes and you can tell Zap is trying to tell Hurri where to position and do things.
They were like.. game feels harder than it should be. Maybe someone is not performing well and we have to try harder to compensate.
This team is dog no matter who they put at adc. Ven and scream are never in the discussion for being top players in their roles. Washed

Ven is the problem
So they kicked Barra WITHOUT even knowing Zap was still wanting to play, contradicting what Ven says about there was a good ADC available as opposed to no mids, if your gonna blame others, then at least get your story straight
Ven would have been booted if Panda wanted to play mid. Pretty much is saying that in this interview between the lines. Says he cant make calls then blames barra for not making them in a mid/jungle league.... Ven is bottom of the barrel for mids these days.

seems like they want an aggressive backliner that has good macro plays, barra tends to seem to have more fun playing in spl vs the drive to win unlike zap wants to win more than barra. Look at what he did for Levi's when they won worlds

@@scalpingsnake We always hear such different takes on scrims. Some pros take them seriously while others don't and scrim results don't really correlate to game days either. Not to mention Zap is notorious when it comes to scrims....idk man

Its a business and if there is one person who knows how to win Worlds its Zapman. The core of Barra, Haddix, and Ven has underperformed come playoffs for 3 or 4 years now. I just can’t get past the trolling scrims Zap being an upgrade. But at the same time, he’s Zapman.

What I don't quite understand is: Why do they have a coach when the only option to alter the teams playstyle is by replacing a teammember? And said replacement idea also comes from the players not the coach apparently.

Overall, I'd say in a situation like this where (according to the players) it's more of a playstyle mesh thing rather than something someone is doing explicitly wrong, it's difficult for a coach to come in and make that change for the players. Players have natures and habits in the way they play, and those can be extemely difficult to adjust, especially for folk who have been competing in Smite for a really long time and finding success in the way they play.
The new coach for the Ravens (Marbach) had only been in place for a little while as well, so difficult for him to make demands on playstyle changes for people like Barra and Ven who have been around for a long time.

I mean if we look at almost every world champion team they’ve all had a strong back line (usually adc) shot caller and a passive (usually mid) back liner so while I think this sucks for barra it’s probably the best choice for the team since when Ven is comfortable/has direction he’s one of if not the best mids in the world.
S1 Barra and MLCStealth, doesn't fit
S2 and 3 emilitoo and yammyn, doesn't fit
S4 pandacat and venenu, fits but Mike would definitely have been more of the shot caller on that team
S5 cyclone and Pegon, doesn't fit
S6 7 and 8 was Zap and whoever it was that was mid. I believe Paul twice and Sheento once. which would have been the first time this really feels right
S9 was Jarcorr and BMT which I would assume also fits roughly to that line of thought
So about half follows this and half doesn't. More recently this has been the case but it's not like every single time except for once or something this has been the case
@@tylerprime6741 of course supports and junglers will have more shot calling but when back liners play together one of them needs to be assertive or can view a fight from a different lens and make a decision
@@1border2lands3 sure, but at the same time. S1,2,3 were all teams where mid had a bigger shit calling voice, and with S5 cyclone is known for being more..... quiet. So that's still 4/5 years. Sure it's more teams that had ADC call more but I wouldn't say a difference of 1 counts as "most teams" is all I'm saying
@@tylerprime6741 tbh I think season 5 could count because I remember pbm saying that cyclone was the shotcaller for the titans during his breakdown of the new season 10 teams stream. However that is pbm who hasn't teamed with cyclonespin and season 5 was a while before titans so idk.
@@C0RVIKNIGHT that could totally be the case. I'm mostly basing it off the fact cyclone is known for being a quieter player for the most part, although that could also be more of an older thing. He's definitely for more than enough experience and game sense to be a good backline shotcaller
I love Ven, he's a really nice guy and I watch his streams. But I hate to say it, Mid is clearly the issue with the Ravens, and it's only gotten worst since Lasbra left - not because Scream is bad he's amazing, but Las and Ven had really good synergy.
Barra is clearly not enthusiatic, but they've basically replaced him with the same player, and the same lack of energy.
Ignore most of what I said, I forgot about their support. THAT is definitely the main issue.

He had a nice 9 kill game against the Dragons, but I felt like Vote (who's never mentioned with the same respect as Barra, Zap or Jarc) had more fire.

I mean, Barra is passive in game, that's a fact. But is that a real problem? Are the team not to much focus to look like the extra agressive Oni playstyle? I don't have the answer.
In my opinion Zap isn't better than Barra, they're both not on the top of ADC hierarchy anyway. I'm afraid that it will not change the place of the team in the ranking

@@HorsePerson6 for me (opinion is like hole everybody get one but it's not always a good one) I would say Cyclone is on the top with a good balance between shotcall and skill.
Then i would say Jarc, Vaporishcoast and Stu are in the conversation for the top 4.
I think Vote is pretty solid too but maybe bit less consistant than the three others.
Netrioid is pretty passive too I would say and I don't think he's very vocal, think it's the same rank as Barra and Zap.
Pandacat I really dunno how to rank him..

Pandacat was easy #1 hunter before he left. Followed closely by cyclone then everyone else.
Your list proves their point, those top 4 adc’s are all very confident players which let’s be honest, Barra isn’t, if the ravens can synergies before worlds they’re probably a top contender
@@1border2lands3 honestly I dunno cause Zap is not a big improvement in term of gamplay. I mean I never get transcended by his skill and he doesn't have consistant results. Maybe you're right but i'm actually not convinced
It's easy to understand the decision. They simply want to try a different play style. That being said I'm not a fan of dirty Steve. I do agree with some of the complaints about there being less Smite being played though.
Willing to bet everything I own that this team implodes before season 11. This team demonstrably can’t win and zap isn’t going to help. Kicking someone and then not doing any better 100% kills this team mentally, versus maybe being able to recover a bad year for a decent showing at worlds.
Theres quite literally one team that wont implode before season 11, and thats whoever wins worlds lol. Thats a every year thing outside of the nika/vote/dardez (which has obviously worked out very well)
@@AllThatRemains6661 That was panda, mike, and fino until panda said he wanted to take a break. They had just picked up pegon too and were only a good jungler away from dominating every year IMO. Mike threw and even admitted it after they loss. But yes, for the most part teams make changes because they want to win. The problem is they rarely seem to make the right choice in removing the problem.
It sounds like this was a hirez told them to drop em for zap cus they need zap in the spl.

This whole friendship league is a joke, the few times I’ve ran into SPL players in casuals I’ve absolutely washed them in the 1’s. Who cares about a roster change, they all play the same anyways.

Barra do be washed. Idk if zapman improvement. Plus haddix tends to choke at tourneys as well or just plays picks cause he thinks he is sot but he is not
the issue is that Barra so far this year did better then Zap. The ravens were one of the top teams while the Levi's were middle to bottom. That's also the reason why they kicked Zap in the first place. Meanwhile Barra was actually having quite a good year compared to the years before
