Imagine my shock when Pharrell said he wrote it for him. I had the same shock when I heard “Happy” and when I heard the 3rd line of the chorus and thought “man I don’t know why I could see Cee-lo singing this”. Lo and behold, Pharrell wrote it for him and he originally sang it before Cee-lo’s team turned it down. Pharrell got a knack for matching someone’s sound, I must say.

    If MJ had accepted those songs like Señorita, Like I Love You, & Rock Your Body? That surely would have put him back on the map musically and given himself another certified classic.
    “Frontin” was all Prince needed to connect to my generation, assuming they kept the Jay verse, it would’ve bridge a gap we much needed in hip hop.

    • @CHPInc-fg5mo
      @CHPInc-fg5mo Год назад +13

      This is literally facts. This is why I admire Beyonce for working with new producers on the new album to connect to this new generation. Prince and MJ could have smashed the 2000's the same way Madonna ended up doing.

    • @bladebrown4191
      @bladebrown4191 Год назад +11

      In all fairness, he didn’t need to be put back on the map. He was every producer’s North Star. All those songs that fell into Babyface, Usher and JT’s hands worked out great for them. If they could’ve linked up, MJ would’ve helped them raise the bar even higher than those tracks.

    • @andremoore7671
      @andremoore7671 Год назад +10

      @@bladebrown4191 You're absolutely right, MJ was most definitely the standard but by the 2000's there were other pop sensations competing in music. In 2001 MJ's Invincible sold 8 million worldwide, incredible numbers for any artist but very low in terms of what MJ has been accustom too. In 2002 Justin Timberlake's "debut" album Justified sold 10 million worldwide. MJ is the GOAT overall but at that particular time, Pharrell had everything MJ needed to continue his run as King, instead Justin not only made a career off of Mike's leftovers but outsold him as well. I'm just saying had he accepted those major songs, Invincible would be universally recognized as a certified pop classic, along with unimaginable music videos, awards, and the record sells to match. Imagine Michael & Janet performing at that Half-time show, without the wardrobe malfunction of course lol.
