The absolute highlight of our trip from Bangkok to Southern Thailand has got to be this! Not too far away from the hustle and bustle of Phuket are the gorgeous Phi Phi islands! After jumping on a boat we make our way over and are amazed to see what Koh Phi Phi is like now… cafes and restaurants, beautiful viewpoints and of course, just a stone's throw away from the reason we are here! We are here to catch the sunrise and step foot on the illustrious Maya Bay! Maya Bay, as many of you may know, was made famous by the Leonardo DiCaprio movie, “The Beach”. The bay has since undergone extensive rehabilitation to preserve its stunning natural beauty, and we were eager to see how it has thrived in the absence of overwhelming tourism. The early morning trip was worth every moment, and somehow…. for just a moment… we felt like we had the whole beach to ourselves!

Good morning early birds 🦋 always enjoy your excursions. Sad and wonderful Maya Bay. Finally understanding ecology must be maintained for long term preservation and enjoyment, and profit last. Difficult at best to turn around and change so kudos to Thailand. So many gorgeous beaches to choose from because so many islands! From Thailand to Malaysia to phillipines but this ONE deemed the ‘most’ or the ‘best’ and let’s face it torn between 🤫🤫🤫and you gotta come with me to see my secret beach lol. Pretty and great and beauty is in eye of the beholder. Enjoyed all you viewed and did chuckle when Adrianna got sprayed coz her look of surprise-oh!😁safe travels, short n sweet video. 🙏🏻❤️🦋

When you guys first arrived, it gave me a major throwback of another island I’ve visited, Tachai. I remembered going there and the crew would be pissed if someone tried to collect sand from the island. Not so many know of the name. It’s the most beautiful island I’ve seen but unfortunately, they’re permanently closed due to mass tourism.
Oh wow that sounds like a beautiful place!! On one hand it’s a shame it’s closed but at the same time - knowing places like that still exist without all of us going to it, also makes me happy!
Your journey to MAYA Bay Beach was truly breathtaking with the sunrise and sea especially when you reached the sand . . . but sadly, your sun-sea-and-sand adventure would've been complete if you were allowed to swim on the beach . . . So now it's a realization to you Adriana and Dylan that you can have the SAME setting, with the sun-sea-sand and SWIM in any beach here in CORON, Palawan PHILIPPINES . . . 🤩

I was there in desember 2002, I think we where like 10 people all togheter on the beach 😍 It was in the afternoon, but still. So different then now. I also was there in 2017, the year before closing. And I almost cried, it was horrific 😭

I tend to set 6 alarms 5 minutes apart then check them every hour after I go to bed, then I check the phone battery level and turn on the light to make sure it is still plugged in. I get up and make sure I have at least 1/2 hour extra time before I have to leave then I double that and get to where I need to be an hour early. When I sit down and see I have an hour to wait, that's when I relax. Great video guys :-)

I think it’s because of it disrupting the wildlife (like the sharks that are there) and perhaps also the sun lotions etc which are very harmful to marine life too!
I start work at 5am, I often wake up multiple times at night worrying if I missed my alarm!
It’s so frustrating when that happens!

I’m not sure if you have visited Similan and Surin islands. Both can be reached from Phuket and are as beautiful as Phi Phi :)

My personal opinion, too many RUclipsrs have videos out on these popular tourist hot spots. I read the title and think, not another one. I really appreciate when i see travel RUclipsrs show little known places, those are the ones that captivate my attention and that i watch religiously.
But we want to visit these places too? We are also tourists? 😊

I’m sure with loads of visitors coming in each our there has to be a time limit.
Also how much was the cost of your long tail boat trip?
You’re allowed a 1 hour slot on the island! 😍 I think it was around 2000 THB for the private boat 😍 it was so worth it!

Hi great vlog, I might have missed it but do you have any details of who you booked for your trip to maya bay and did you need to book in advance. We are only doing one night so want to optimise maya bay early morning. Great vlog though
Hello! Yes we did - it's Visa Travel Phi Phi (I can't post links in the comments). Yes we did book a couple weeks in advance but I'm sure theyd have plenty of boats. Have a great trip!

I thought James Bond island was another one altogether - just nearby but not actually maya bay?
How much was the boat trip? And why no swimming?
The boat trip was 2200 THB for both of us and visited a few other spots afterwards too! No swimming because they’re trying to preserve the nature and the sun lotions etc are not good.
Even though came early in the morning, there were still so many people.. If it's noon?😅
Nooo haha! We were first on the beach when it opened at 7am! There’s just a lot of people that go - and as we said, a lot of people were running to get to it quickly since you only get 1 hour. 😊

Maya bay is such a bad tourist trap now, it’s ruined
I first went there in 1998, hired a long boat from ‘Krabi’ to Phi phi.
Left at 5am, got there in an hour or so, took a bbq, had maya bay to ourselves for a couple hours before all the boats start pouring in
Philippines has better beaches than Thailand in my opinion
Surprised that you said Maya Bay was bad. I saw many tourists coming to Maya Bay. Natural beaches are of different beauty. It depends on each person's perspective. Please don't underestimate my country's beaches!!Please don't depreciated my country's beaches.
@@jujane7550 I never said maya bay is bad, it’s beautiful, the tourism is bad. I’ve lived in Thailand for many years and I’ve seen it change for more than 20 years now. And yes I have seen more beautiful places than Thailand, that’s my opinion and nobody else’s
The tourism is a lot more controlled now, i suppose! You can’t come and stay a whole day with a BBQ but you can still embrace the pure beauty of it!
