Just love how and where the camera is placed!! I use to have an "N" gauge when I was a kid! Helped doing a little restoring an old 30's caboose about 25 years ago!
I like a man who specifies a train door in his house design. Much more important than the kitchen, number of bedrooms, bathrooms etc. Clearly you have the right priorities. As usual another great video.
I would love to have this train style so I can go get it and set it up we’re ever but I can’t get any track or a locomotive because I don’t have enough money but that is pretty cool having a train door in your house
I was shocked when you said that you’d be bungee jumping, cause I remember you saying you were not a fan of heights! So I laughed hard when you said just kidding. 😂 Jackson loved the video!
I'm sitting at a table on the patio controlling one of the switches. All but one of the switches are OK on their own, but there's one that I have to switch when the European steam train approaches it and then switch it again as soon as the European steam train passes.
Hey Jim! I found you on Downielive's channel. Your editing is sick! I'm super impressed by your storyline, looks like you work really hard on each video & that in itself is super super super inspiring. When's your next video out? A bit on me, I'm Will & I make Canadian travel and personal growth videos. Hope you have an awesome day and you are awesome, keep being you! 😁☝🏻
Hello to you in Vancouver from here in Southeastern Washington! Vancouver's a beautiful place, for sure. I actually visited a couple of years ago. If you're interested, there's a video about it at ruclips.net/video/E3H_TPSEIao/видео.html I'm a big fan of Downielive! He's super talented. One of my favorite RUclipsrs. I'll check out your channel sometime.
It took a few hours. The tricky part on this one was having to do some trial and error to get the right amount of track on each of the three loops so that two of the trains would complete one loop in exactly the same amount of time and the third train would take exactly twice as long to complete one loop. I just did some fiddling with lengthening parts of the layout until I finally got it right.
Be honest, when you told the builders you wanted that door, did you say it was for your model trains? If so, did they think you were joking at first and actually wanted a doggy door?
I went through the full story of my RUclips channel and my model trains before I made the request... so that they would completely understand why I was asking for that door. I also let them use their skills and creativity to design it however they wanted to as long as it was a certain width and a certain height. When I finally saw it all finished, months later, it was very impressive to see how they insulated it, built a lock in to it, and built a way to secure the door open when it was in use. It's a great little train door!
@@JimZim Hey jim, this reply is late but if you are able to get a Walmart Adventure Railway Train set that would be a fun watch, mostly because the John Deere's set's track looks very similar to the Adventure Railway's
i can clearly see the swaying motion of the coaches from the steam passenger train set. how do you get your shots look so realistic and so close. I've tried doing that with my camera but it keeps falling off the train
I use an old GoPro Hero Session when I want to do one of the shots from the side of the train. The other GoPro models are too heavy to mount on one side of the train... they destabilize the train because all the extra weight of the camera on one side makes the train tip over. But the GoPro Hero Session is so small and light that it won't tip over most G-scale trains. For the shots on top of the train, I use a newer, larger GoPro. On top of the train, I can mount the camera exactly in the center, which doesn't throw off the balance of the train enough to make it tip over. I might actually do a video about this some time.
@@JimZimhow do you get the realistic swaying motion of your model train? Does it has to do with the way you lay your tracks? Or is it the uneven rail joints itself that give the clickity clack sound
Unfortunately, it's been over a year since my last cruise... thanks to the global pandemic. So, I think it might be more accurate at this point to say that this is one of the things I do. Period. Hopefully, there will be another cruise for me... but I think it might be next year, at the earliest.
Hi Jim, I was just wondering if you and your queen had been vaccinated yet? What’s the next cruise we can expect to hear about you going on once they open up again? I can speak for all of us when I say we all really miss your cruise videos and we are all waiting for cruising to start up again. Your def my wife and i’s favorite youtuber to watch for cruise videos and reviews👍
We literally become eligible for the vaccine tomorrow. So, we'll be trying tomorrow morning to schedule appointments for the vaccine. But we're really enjoying our new life in Washington and I hate to say this but I think we'll be cruising quite a bit less in the coming years. It looks like our next cruise will be in February of next year, but it may be our only cruise of 2022. I don't know for sure, though. There are a number of variables that could swing it the other way! We're going to have to see how it goes. But I suspect that I'll be doing a lot less cruise videos from here on out than I did previously.
Well Jim Zim, you made a joke about going bungee jumping off of a building and you said, "Just kidding!" And that made me laugh, ha ha ha! Well the next RUclips video is about a really famous nuclear submarine called the USS Triton. And all that was left of it was the sail or the superstructure built on top of the body of the submarine. I love the USS Triton submarine!❤ As always, I am Thomas Comeau and I will see the replies from you, Jim Zim! Have a good day!😁
That little door next to the big door is not a doggy door, but it is a door for the G scale model trains in your collection! You have 100,000 river rocks in your collection in the backyard of the house in Washington state besides the 22 soon to be 23 G scale model trains in your collection. Three of the 100,000 river rocks are in the White Pass and Yukon Route Railway gondola freight car being pulled by two White Pass and Yukon Route Railway ALCO diesel locomotives #106 and #107 from LGB along with the green White Pass and Yukon Route Railway tank car and the White Pass and Yukon Route Railway caboose for the freight train. The White Pass and Yukon Route Railway tank car is from Onlytrains.com as well as the White Pass and Yukon Route Railway ALCO diesel locomotive #106 from LGB that provides proper realistic train sounds, and the Santa Maria Valley agricultural boxcar. As always, I am Thomas Comeau and I will see the replies from you, Jim Zim!
Lionel made a G scale polar express that can actually fit on G. scale tracks You have 1 that's a little different Look for 1 that has the batteries in the tender not the engine
That was quite a few years ago that Lionel made a Polar Express that was compatible with LGB G scale tracks. They are no longer available. The new version that you would find for sale now is not compatible with LGB G scale track.
Awesome!!!!!!!!!! Love it!!!!!!!!!!! Yes!!!!!!!!!!!
I smiled through every minute of this video, if you are looking for envy then you've got mine Mr. Zim! What could be better. Best of RUclips to ya!

I love how you lay out the tracks, 3 trains running on pretty much the same tracks running in different directions and never crashing, "cool" 👍😁

Beautiful set of trains Mr. Jim takes me a way to my happy place
I just love your trains! Sure do miss the beautiful snow around them. Really loved and enjoyed your video!
You would be the Best neighbor! I would have a deer stand in my yard watching your yard! 😍
My favorite model train is the red one that's classic Santa Fe Super Chief
Jim I’m glad the winter’s gone and trains won’t have any problems with winter unless another snowy winter will start next winter season
Oh so peaceful.
THAT IS SO AWSOME.

Bazinga!

My goodness at 4:39 some of the worst model train wrecks I've caused all came rushing back to me! Talk about a tight timetable!
Love the mountains in the background.
awesome buddy...i am jealous...thanks for the upload!
Please do a video on how you mount your cameras on the trains.
I bet the grandkids love it
It’s like the model trains are your puppies going through that door.
4:40 that was close!!!!!!!

Great video. Thanks for posting this. Have a nice day.
Jim I love your vids keep up the good work 👍
Looks great Jim!
That is so cool I like it nice work on the layout
This is Too Cool i wish i can find a santé fe USA train
Good job on those layouts!
Man I’m jealous cool 🏠
Nice, My favorite neighbor
Enjoyed the video!
My friend's son loves your railroad videos. As for me (adult model railroader) can you do a video on your roster of locomotives and rolling stock?
😯😛😀 So cool!!!...
Some day I would love to meet you and play trains keep the video’s on coming 😁
Cool
Thats very cool !
Hi Jim, I took your advice and ordered a prodigy elite controller for my layout. Just got it Monday and am really liking it so far.
That's great to hear!
Are you controlling the switches on that or is it programmed into the system?
I'm sitting at a table on the patio controlling one of the switches. All but one of the switches are OK on their own, but there's one that I have to switch when the European steam train approaches it and then switch it again as soon as the European steam train passes.
Amazing video
You have amazing videos
Have you tried the live steam locomotive in G scale?
Live steam is really expensive, and can't be controlled by my existing train control equipment... so, I just stick with DCC G-scale stuff.

Oh wow so cool!! Do you make your own train tracks?
Nope... I use LGB-brand brass track. It's expensive, at $7 per foot of track, but very high quality.
Hey Jim do you like my profile which it’s my favorite Dr. Jackson Robert Scott who was Georgie from IT
I never saw the It movies. Horror movies are definitely not for me!
