As of yesterday, October 12, I have officially beaten the game with 180hours of game time. Comment your favorite moments. SPOILERS ALLOWED. You've been warned.
Touching moment: Lae’zel’s romance scene watching the sunrise, just so good to see how she changes from first meeting her. Freeing the Nightsong. The acting, the awesome music kicking in, powerful scene. Astarion’s final quest scenes with Cazador. So well acted. Act 1: The spectator fight stands out because I stumbled upon and was by far the hardest fight I had up to that point.
Favorite moment: Dame Aylin breaking free of her prison. Between her divine light and power restoration, her flight, and THE MUSIC! OH GODS THE MUSIC! CHILLS. ALL THE CHILLS.
The Power also has a third version, with lyrics, which plays during end credits (and technically third as a bard song), it would be interesting to see you react to that version as well
theres something about baldurs gate 3 music, every song... u never get tired of em, i get goosebumps and almost teary sometimes it just has that good of a soundtrack list
Everytime i hear bg3 music im exploding with emotions😂 A true masterpiece, people who made it are absolute legends Played 300+ hours and cant stop😅 Thats the quality ❤
Same, I love the music in this game, and as I listen to the sound track I can see what was happening during that track, and it brings the emotions of the moment right along with it, it's crazy and I love it, xD
To me the 2 versions of “the power” feel like the start and end of a grand adventure. Orchestral gets you in the mood to go out and adventure. Slay goblins, delve into dungeons, storm a castle blade and shield in hand. The choral version feels like that’s all done. The battle is over. It’s time to rest and lay down your arms
What I love about this OST is the central theme to all of the songs connecting. Similarly to how Marty O'Donnell wrote Halo. Emotional callbacks to the theme carries weight in a score.
“The Power” is one of my favorites from the soundtrack because of the humming and the build up into such a beautiful strong melody. I listen to it often at work when I’m stressed
I finished the game now. And I know that I will never ever forget the music. I really really hope that Borislav and Larian will put the BG3 OST out on vinyl like he/they did with his also awesome Divitiny Original Sin 2-OST, a beautiful 2 vinyl set with a music sheet/8 page piano score so that even very bad piano players (I am used to synths/keyboards, piano is a whole different instrument) like me can start to learn to play the tunes :D Borislav is an incarnation of Milil, God of Poetry and Song, in the Forgotten Realms. Raphales Final Act, House of Hope, even turns into an epic musical :D.
so glad you finally got to my personal favorite 'i want to live' with the lyrics, it's also my favorite character's theme song & it means even more once you know his full story (i think 'the power' is actually the one that plays during the credits, but i've only watched them once, so lol)
I Want To Live is not Astarion's theme. My source is The Composer himself. twitter.com/Borislav_Slavov/status/1690711560413474817?t=ARxUyox0Fx9nPnS2beSgFA&s=19 The credits actually plays more than one song, you should watch the whole credits sometime.
@@LionmightOfficial it was years ago, during early access (before karlach was even a companion) that i originally heard this referred to as his theme, & the actor said it was as well during his playthrough, so i that's why i thought that was still official. & i did sit through the whole credits when i finished the game, but that was over 2 months ago, & i was having some big feelings & trying to read everything at the time as well
I love the echoing, cavernous sounds in certain pieces like Nine Blades, especially with the Underdark of course, it's just so epic to have both a feeling that the actual music and notes evoke along with some effects and sound design to give you full immersion.
Woo! Congratulations BaldurPlayerGamer on completing ROUND 1! This whole ost is a perfect combination of power, elegance, and emotion! Down by the River and I Want to Live are my personal favorites. (Also oboe HYPE at 3:05-3:28 and 3:57-4:05 !!...totally not biased) As always it's a pleasure to hear your perspectives (and biases)!
I want to live is so perfect for Astarions story and Neil Newbon even has it added to his Astarion playlist and sang a little bit of it during a stream. Would be awesome if he did a cover so we had actual Astarion singing the astarion song lol
@@derpip4325 dont really see it. "Its not my fault, im not to blame, these aint my sins, i broke my chain" i see that the chain could be zariel but fighting in the blood war doesnt feel like sins to me, nobody would blame her for killing devils to survive. Now kidnapping innocent people off the streets and delivering them to your torturous master, is p bad tbh but also something that he was forced to do to survive. If the song is supposed to be about her because of her "want to live", it could be argued that its gales song too. Oh the song would fit pretty well for a "good" durge Tav though
@@derpip4325 The first time you can hear the song in the game is in the Wilderness camp if you climb up on the rock behind Astarion's tent. "I feel your breath upon my neck, a soft caress that's cold as death." It's clearly Astarion's & Tav's song. 🙂
If you haven’t done this already, I apologise if I’ve missed it as I’ve just found your series and have been loving these videos; please do the same for the divinity original sin 2 soundtrack. Borislav has composed it as well, and it’s just as good. The game too. Masterpiece.
You are such a great and calming person! I’m not really into reactions format, but sometimes I watch your videos and enjoy good music with you. And I love it.
I think what I absolutely love about Barislav's composing for this soundtracks is it all sounds like just barely contained chaos, especially in the battle songs, until you get to the etherial melodic parts and the contrast between those is what really makes an impact
Another amazing installment of your Baldur's Gate 3 musical analysis series! 🎉🎉🎉 The Power is one of my favorite tracks of the OST and I love all the different versions of it. I agree, the vocal humming is so amazing and usually underrated. Amazing playing as always too!!!
Thank you very much, also for this third part of your review! And since you did complete the game, three times by now, here is my favorite moment of the game: The moment, when the player and his companions, having literally crossed the devil's lair, are found by the owner of "this house of hope", and the showdown with Raffael begins. Both in story and in music, it overwhelmed me, and together, made for the most epic battle I've had in this game. Such a masterpiece!
Going through your backlog just found you. I love your reactions you say the same sort of things I do when I have a captive audience with my friends in the car to listen to music. You know except you actually know what you’re talking about.😅
Ahhh I wish the officially released ost included one track that plays in the underdark- it can be found on youtube under Arcane Tower - Baldur’s Gate 3 🥺😭 its my ultimate favourite. Arcane Tower in the Underdark was overall a very emotional place for me, the story had this heartwrenching bittersweet undertone.
I still say it this is one of the best soundtracks of 2023 despite how much competition it had last year with all the interesting decisions and unique choices it took in not just the type of music it used but even how the music is presented in the manner of instruments and singing it chose to display its fine music, your first 2 videos showed this well and this video only adds to them by displaying these great songs and what makes them such stand out tracks thanks to your amazing musical analysis!
One of my favourite tracks from BG3 is one I am not sure I heard much of in-game. It's called Dream Walk and the woodwind in it is amazing, gives me goosebumps every time! I think it was also the very first track I ever heard from BG3 as it was the one that first played in the first trailer I watched for the game.
I just love this game so much and especially the music within (as well as everything such as characters, story, and world itself). Thanks to this game I discovered this channel. Will look forward to more videos from now on and thanks for amazing and insightful contents :D
The best part for me was the fight with Ketheric Thorm. It may be just an opening to an actual final chapter but hey. The last chapter didn't really feel as good as first and second, except for fight vs Raphael but that is different story. The battle with Ketheric felt epic, it felt like a justice took our side on this one in form of the dame Aylin. We fought against evil together, with god's might and wraith behind our backs. I felt like I was actually fighting evil, while throughout the game I was never as certain about it. We fought and we won against all odds.
@@exnozgaming5657 Ketheric is a fallen hero, somebody who through out his best years always had best intentions for the world. This is why his character feels so much deeper and believable. Gortash is really just a traumatized kid who never forgave his parents, and Orin kinda... idk what she is, but there are no such people
This game made me feel invested and excited without having me bored for even a minute! I cant remember the last time a game got me so gripped and the music instantly became nostalgic and goosebump inducing for me.
I do know the composer has explained that "I want to live" is the player character's theme song. And I know that he does have a modern version of "The Power" that does the same thing of being more modern.
the first time i came across the choral version of "the power" ingame, i just kind of sat there and listened for like 15 minutes. it was so beautiful, so touching, it felt holy and pure in a way i don't really know how to put into words. amazing soundtrack. every single song.
Down by the rivet might refer to City of Baldurs gate which lays by the river not far for ocean going ships to use... as that dbr theme repeats itself in many songs.. especially in bg theme.. irc..
I thought I Want to Live sans lyrics was good as just the sad somber end of day song. Then with the lyrics I agree it sounded more poppy but more like pop country. Not a bad thing necessarily just a bit more of a vibe shift than was expected.
Found your channel thanks to BG3, wish I played more games so I could enjoy more of your content because these videos have been amazing and you are a great violinist. Unfortunately I'm a pretty sparse gamer except for a few games that I just fall in love with. Wishing you the best.
I am very glad I found your channel! My favorite part of games hands down is the music! All my favorite games, FFX, FFXVI, BG3, Gitaroo Man, Ghost of Tsushima, shadow of the colossus, Octopath Traveler and so on, when I hear the music I remember how the game made me feel the first time I played it. Music is so powerful especially when you're an emotionally driven gamer like myself. Songs that remind me of character death or romance hit hard and stick with me. Thank you for your videos. One of my new favorite channels!
Congratulations on beating the game, it's truly a fantastic and unique adventure. I've also beaten the game and it's amazing the overall quality of it. Your music reactions are great so keep it coming!!! you should listen " The Queen's high seas" and the underdark themes.
For me it was my fight against Orin as a Dark Urge (spoiler ahead if you haven't played it yet). Fighting against Bhaal, and reneging your cursed birthright to become your own person was amazing. And even as you die, and are resurrected by Withers (revealed to be a very important character in lore), given your life back to do as you see fit. To continue basically spitting in the face to the God of Murder, as well as what fate would have you become was amazing! Second is a tie between Astarion and Shadowheart's Act 3 quests but I'm not gonna keep gushing.
Thanks for the reactions as usual! Funny enough, im more of a fan of the I want to live (Classical version) that plays all the time in game, something about just hearing that instrumental alone is great to me
I really enjoyed your reactions to the bd3 music . It’s truly amazing how good the music sounds. Your violin is awesome! Your a wizard with that thing!
I massively enjoyed themusic while I was playing, but I massively enjoyed the whole game, so it's nice to sit down and properly enjoy all of the music as it's own separate entity, gives me a whole new appreciation for the soundtrack despite already loving it a great deal!
Thanks to your channel I've really appreciated the music from balders gate three. You've really opened my ears to amazing work done by amazing artists. Thankyou so much.
Ah. At last, I found the video where you listen to I Want To Live, Astarion's secret song. If you climb up on the rock behind Astarion's tent in the Wilderness Camp in Act 1, and listen, you can hear it for the first time in the game. It's repeated elsewhere, but that's the one place I know for sure you can hear it sung. It's my favorite song out of all of the gorgeous songs in the game. Full of the pathos, tragedy of Astarion's life and his guilt for what he did for the last 200 years. Of his breaking free, knowing he's still likely to die at any moment, either at the hands of Cazador or just some random monster. In much of his past he wished for death, but now that he can feel again, he wants to live. I love this song so much.
Congratulations on beating the game! Did you play a bard? First song reminded me of the time in Act 1 we were having the party in the camp. My rogue had learned to perform from Alfira the tiefling, so I had a duet with her just whistling because I had no instrument, and surprisingly Volo also joined in. Truly touching moment.
I'd really like to see you checking out the Ratchet & Clank (2002) soundtrack. Gemlik Base, Tobruk Crater, Jowai Resort and Blackwater City are all such bangers.
I love your content, ill definitely be watching more, subbed! Now that you've beaten the game, if you have not already, I would encourage you to play as the Dark Urge, Vengence Paladin, and resist, plus romance shadowheart. Trust me when i say, it is a very impactful playthrough. The depth and emotional moments this play through has...it completely changes the game. In my opinion, it is the best story in the game.
@StringPlayerGamerOfficial Very understandable. I truly hope you enjoy your journey when you begin the game and that I will be lucky enough to catch you on twitch 😊
Hi! Love ur explanation, Nine blades is my favourite one, what a masterpiece. Also, you defintely should listen some Bloodborne music, especially the boss theme named Ludwig The Accursed & Holy Blade. This is my favourite video game song ever. I'm sure many would like to see your reaction to one of the most popular and amazing soundtrack. Thx!
i dont remember the end credits song, but i was in a rush to get to the bathroom. btw there's an after credits depending on how it ends (multiple ending obviously)
If you can find it, check out the Age of Conan MMORPG soundtrack. It's so good. One of my all time favorite video game soundtracks. I still listen to it regularly. Great 3-part series. I definitely love the BG3 OST. If these things could win mainstream music awards (like a Grammy), this one definitely should.
Can we make suggestion here? Dark Souls 3 has one of the most amazing soundtracks I ever heard. It's a huge part why i replayed the game game so many times. I'm a huge fan of all From Software games, but none of the other soundtracks is as memerable as this one. A lot of amazing violins and vocals. The menu music already makes you stop and blanky stare at the screen because the music is so hauntingly beautyful. Even if you just check it out of camera, I'm sure you'll love it and i dont want you to miss out on it :)
@@LionmightOfficial Dancer of the Boreal Valley, The Nameless king, Sister Friede, Darkeater Midir, Slave knight Gale, and, of course, The Soul of Cinder. All of these xan be found in an Album called Dark Souls 3 original game soundtrack here on RUclips.
You can hear I Want To Live above Astarions tent on the cliff in Act 1. I didn't think it could be better than with the vocals but dang it's amazing with violin
If you are loving the BG3 soundtrack this much it's worth checking out the Divinity Original Sin 2 soundtrack by the same dude. It's a very similar flavour, and I was more hyped because of his involvement in BG3 than anything else.
Hi ! i really like your content on BG3. Such an incredible experience that game. I have to say though, you should maybe check out an artist who's getting widespread recognition at the moment called: Ren. In particular check his 3 part story ( bardcore he calls it ) called: "The tale of Jenny & Screech Full". If you vibe with that then check out "Hi Ren" i think you could make a lot of content on his stuff and its all a work of absolute art. :)
Sorry to say didn't give the soundtrack much attention at first. Seeing you get lost in it made the whole thing more enjoyable. I've listened to the entire ost a few times now during my daily commute.
Please listen to the Counter-Strike 2 default music kit. It came out a couple weeks ago and captures the "new era" of CS while paying homage to the past era. While you're at it, listen to CS:GO's default music kit. It's quite a different feeling. I personally like CS:GO's a little better, mainly because it has more variety.

It might be good to press enter a few times so the spoiler is under a read more, since the spoiler is currently right after you've said spoiler ahead.
@@Candlekeepdeep Done. Thanks for the heads of. Formatting is a pain sometimes.
@@erick388 no worries :)
You mean bard😂
I massively enjoyed themusic while I was playing, but I massively enjoyed the whole game, so it's nice to sit down and properly enjoy all of the music as it's own separate entity, gives me a whole new appreciation for the soundtrack despite already loving it a great deal!
Also as a percussionist, lotta bangers.
Thanks to your channel I've really appreciated the music from balders gate three. You've really opened my ears to amazing work done by amazing artists. Thankyou so much.
Loving the content, thank you! Can't wait for you to hear the 3rd version of the Power - I had that during my credits :)
I think my favourite one here was Nine Blades. Love a good battle theme!
"I Want to Live" is not Astarion's song.

I tried playing bard but its gameplay bored me. I rerolled to beast master ranger. Super OP!
By the way, the first melody is used in the dance - in the scene of the romance with Wyll in the second act.
Already midway into a durge playthrough, and another Shart playthrough. I've been deeply invested in the game for while.
I love your reactions to this beautiful music. Please also upload some of your game content. I'd love to see how your story advances ❤
I play in private. Though sometimes I stream it on Twitch, I mostly enjoy gaming not as content.

Thx!
Everhood's soundtrack is as chaotic as they come, but it somehow meshes well with the chaos of the game!
i dont remember the end credits song, but i was in a rush to get to the bathroom.
btw there's an after credits depending on how it ends (multiple ending obviously)
The BG3 soundtrack reminds me of Basil Poledouris's Conan series soundtrack. A lot.
Can you name specific titles? But no links please
You've earned a subscriber dude.
I was curious about Nine Blades commentery, to me it's one of the best songs in the game.
im not sure if you have done the Divinity 2 original sin soundtrack yet but if you haven't you should. absolutely GOATED
Too late for reactions. I beat both games already, 100+ hours each when it came out.
You are really cool!
Love your reactions! Would you consider listening to Wash My Pain Away and Bard Dance? They both have such great melodies!
Bard Dance has been filmed for episode 4.
6:01 thats from the NightSong track!
It is. This motif is used all around the game.
My favourite track is not in the soundtrack. It's the track after the nightsong scene, with the nightsong theme but with brass and everything ❤❤❤
Raphael's boss fight, easy best moment
If it doesn't win GOTY we must Riot.
They really did everything right with this game.
Amazing songs!
Bg3 soundtrack kind of reminds me sometimes soundtrack from old polish tv series "the witcher". Series were quite bad but music was amazing.
If there one day was a BG3 orchestra I'd 100% go! (IF its in my country ofc xD)
Pretty sure "Power" is the motif used on "Down by the River", not the other way around.
You should listen to the SCP: SL theme, I get the chills every time I listen to it.
Ah, lovely pick for a title :D
You can hear I Want To Live above Astarions tent on the cliff in Act 1. I didn't think it could be better than with the vocals but dang it's amazing with violin
You can hear it everywhere. I already beat the game.
If you are loving the BG3 soundtrack this much it's worth checking out the Divinity Original Sin 2 soundtrack by the same dude. It's a very similar flavour, and I was more hyped because of his involvement in BG3 than anything else.
Too late for that. I already experienced the game and its music when I beat them both years ago.
@@LionmightOfficial That's good enough for me.
you should check out the soundtrack of a game named goodbye volcano high
some good tracks in it!
Hi ! i really like your content on BG3. :)
Thank you for the suggestion but I am only interested in actual video game soundtracks. I will check him out, but not for content.
have anyone else noticed that he looks like freaking casador
@@Jamelon casador if he wasn’t a villain
Sorry to say didn't give the soundtrack much attention at first. Seeing you get lost in it made the whole thing more enjoyable. I've listened to the entire ost a few times now during my daily commute.
Good!
