first thing: thanks for everything. Listening to the author, I have seen my whole life go by in my mind and I am not referring only to my work. since I was a child I always thought that I had to give a profound meaning to what I would do. I changed 7 companies from the paper mill to the mechanics and ended up in the aeronautics. I had to study six years in the evening to get a diploma. I started working in the industry when I was 15 years old. I have always tried to do what I felt was right and honest. now I am retired and I am deepening the aspects of life that for various reasons I have not been able to do. now I am freer to follow my aspirations and I am deepening knowledge in philosophy and theology, as well as music and astronomy. I still feel part of this world, and even though I am 68 years old, I am clear where I will continue to work having good teachers who I will never be able to thank enough. to these masters today I added another. thanks. Peace and Harmony
I was that 85% who didn’t engage but after I got fired, I try to engage everyday. And only within 3 weeks, I got 300 subscribers on this RUclips channel and 100 followers on Twitter. I’m learning that my baby steps engagement actually works. 🔥
This is the talk I hoped it would be when I read the title. Agree with everything he is saying here. We have to change the education system from the ground up.
As a science major in my college there were internships where we would assist professors with their projects which sometimes (but not always) aligned with a senior's project. This not only gave me so many opportunities to learn about things (different ways of experimentation, quantitative analysis, whatever the thesis was about) but also to see what would be expected of me years down the line, gain relationship connections, and feel more comfortable with the math, science, and professors which would later benefit me. After my sophomore year they ended the program and it left a huge gap in my life where I would usually be in the science building or out collecting samples. I missed so much of it and agree that we all need opportunities to grow in some way whether we are at school or at work as it allows people to become disengaged without anything to work towards, think about, or opportunities for advancement. It just becomes "the daily grind." I think there are also many ways that people with a large variety of disabilities could contribute virtually that have yet to be discovered which would add more creativity and positivity, and as a disabled person myself, add to our self esteem since, unfortunately, so much of a person's worth is dependent on the dreaded productivity.
I've been struggling with the school-work issues whole my life, and it took my health. I am chronically ill now due to long term stress. Unable to work full time. This is so painful. This talk makes my eyes tear.
Really inspirational talk. I have a great mentor in my job and it took me a whole long year to be competent at the projects, then I got a promotion. He says they teach all this stuff at Boy Scout, and I believe it’s similar to what’s talked about in this talk. I am lucky that my job is learning to solve problems, but there are many jobs that are not like that.
I like it. I like it a lot. I've started new jobs a few times in my life, sometimes with no choice as to what kind of work it was, but as long as I could find a good reason to do it I was fine, even happy doing it. If I could see a "nobility" in it I was more than happy to do it. Is this the kind of thing you're talking about?
LOVE this topic! Gratitude and keep rocking the conscious content from this new RUclipsr who you've positively inspired to start my own channel 😊🙌🏼 Blessings and Namaste ✨
When we develop a system where the majority of resources are not hoarded by a minority of people and everyone has enough to eat, a roof over their head and time for some enjoyment in life, then you may finally have a system that encourages everyone to live instead of just survive. Since 'greed is good' and money is still god, I don't see this happening any time soon.
A socialism with a capitalistic twist of setting up a potentially commercialized educational platform experiment (yes, "yet another one" as the speaker notices). He is a researcher using publicity on TEDx looking for grants. His academic contribution does not look great - check his google scholar page.
Perhaps the counter shows anyone who has logged on to watch for any length of time as one view. And perhaps 4 people who attended the live talk were told that the talk would be posted, and they wanted to watch it as soon as it was up. There are all kinds of explanations that make sense. As I'm typing this, there have been 2,660 "views," and the talk just went up today. How is that possible? Well, how many hundreds of millions of people use RUclips? And how many thousands of those subscribe to TEDx Talks, so they immediately get notified - perhaps by email - that a new talk in which they might be interested has just been posted? They may not watch the entire thing; but they might watch enough of it to have their watching counted as one view.
We need to improve neural Networks for People so we can Greatly improve society and things like this. It is basically the answer to the problem this guys is trying to solve.
Don't put too much hope for it. It's unlikely that NN will be able to succeed as AI that we all envisioned and that all people will benefit from this development.
The problem is that no one cares. You think people abolished slavery because it was right thing to do? Well, not entirely, the problem was that it was inefficient at that moment, government was in need of clever people with good education to bring value, to push progress to succeed in Era of technology and slaves won't work for something they don't benefit as much as someone who will (as slaves won't get recognition and everything they do belongs to the master for food, lodging and etc, not so different as what is done today but with different name?) You think they spread education everywhere because it is right and knowledge brings freedom? No, they do this because it creates society with maximum value and low risk, as before you could have several genius from small group of people, now you have a lot desposable ones doing as much but if they don't succeed later on you can throw them away and take another, before you were stuck with limited options. So no one want you to feel like you are needed and part of the society, they need you to strive to be part of it or die trying. If you don't succeed in either, government will help you break so you will easier take one of those options.

Look at the nature. Organisms are being constantly eliminated and the best ones thrive for a while. A workplace is not a body but a group of organisms. You won't be able to change it.

Really interesting....
I was stuck in college for 8 years. I had no sense of a "real world" learning opportunity...
100% agree with this I'm always thinking about how poor our education is.
I just love the topics...

How exactly is this "self publicity"?
