  • A short tour of the Center for Avian Adoption, Rescue and Education. Here we show you our store which funds the shelter and the shelter as well. You will also see some of our parrots available for adoption. Please note: We do not adopt out past a 200 mile radios from Fargo, North Dakota and we do not ship birds. Mind you these are domesticated birds. I really hope you mean free by no longer living in a shelter. Because you cant just let birds out of a cage and expect them to live long in any environment. Esspecially domesticated birds.
      Edit: forgot to add that domesticated birds are use to living in homes and are usually from tropical places which is why i say that. I figured I'd elaborate more

      🤦🏼‍♀️ You’re probably one of those vegan bitches, probably killing your dog because you’re feeding it a vegan diet. Get your ass outta here with the “should be free in the wild” These birds are endangered in the wild. You realize half of them would be extinct if people didn’t have rescues and breed these birds. They have never been in the wild, they don’t know any different. These people take amazing care of these birds, you can tell. So shut the hell up and do your research before commenting

    Wow! Great video, well done. I’m from Easy Coast and one thing I have learned is that Cockatoo’s are rehomed the most, because they are loud and have a lot to say. Liked the way this lady said that and stayed on point despite noise and people who should have had enough sense to understand what she was doing, and not have to be asked to move. Clean, plenty of toys, and food for these beautiful birds. Massachusetts loves your volunteers. Prospective buyers should take number of classes and be with birds for a standard time period to see if compatibility exists and never allow someone to sit in another’s time. Birds are so beautiful. 🧡💛❤️💜💚💙 like children? Upbringing from day one matters?

    Along with the Adopt don't shop movement, we need to focus on making the adoption process easy. Otherwise prospective buyers head back to the breeders.

      There's only one problem with making the adoption easier. The wrong people can get their hands on them. I, for one, am glad it's so stringent.

      I do agree with you. I am in the process of adopting an umbrella cockatoo and it has taken 3 months of interviews and classes before I have even gotten to meet a bird. I get being careful but it does get to be too much.

    Great very inspiring
    They write about using light pee to sunlight as growth houses
    That help them, if not outside
    When I insect treatment my rescue birds, they then drop fedder that's not
    Needed, so they look good, I give them lots grass, woods, fruit
    That's i noticed give good, condition and activity...

      Yes, you need to be experienced to have one. If more people did their homework this wouldn't be a issue.. They're loud, messy and can be destructive and one of the most rehomed bird for those reasons. I've wanted a cockatoo for ever, just don't have enough experience.

    • @Pippin514
      @Pippin514 5 лет назад +3

      20 years? Sweet of you to make mention. Don't get me wrong. It is definitely more than 20 years, though. And provisions should be made well in advance for who will take the bird should anything happen to prevent you from continuing to have/keep the little angle of a bird... trusting and loving you so. They grieve deeply upon the loss of their human! SO! Prepare? Such as next generation...YOUNGER...Who is equipped to have this animal and VERY MUCH WANTS and LOVES the bird! Prepare. If it is not YOU? Then, WHO?? The best possible Pick! THIS is a lifetime commitment! A Child who never grows up and moves out on his/her own! Remains a child under your expert, safe and loving, nurturing care...and full enjoyment, appreciation and happiness for you both!

    • @cathyt144
      @cathyt144 5 лет назад

      Mayz z some rescues are more difficult to adopt from. I understand the strict policies because most rescue birds have already gone thru hell and the rescues have spent a lot of time,effort and $ getting them ready for adoption . Ive adopted several of my birds from RescueMe.org. Just go to the site,tap birds for adoption, then tap " birds", a map will pop up so tap on the state youre wanting to adopt from. Before adopting please do tons of research and educate yourself on bird care so you will know what to expect. Its a lifetime commitment because most birds live a long time when cared for properly. Good luck with your new feather friend if you have already adopted. 😀🐥

    IF/When I own a private home unattached from other private homes...I WILL be adopting a Cockatoo...No hesitance ...to giv him/her a good home...Perhaps two! The best of care...all of me...and all needs met in what makes them the happiest and most content... Cage? Of course, the right one square and huge...with all they need to entertain them...feed and hydrate them well...CLEAN... Well kept...But, they would not be there but for sleep, for their safety, and if they so choose to be with the gate to it open ...long as I am present for supervision...that they may not get into something that is or could be a danger to them. They are like toddlers! I don't care about when they get their noisy episodes...they need to vent...they need to be Cockatoos...The mess? So what..i will clean it...If he/she wants tear up the newspaper, for instance for fun? NO Problem!! Having fun doing it was my pleasure and watching them have fun! The whole idea is a Happy and Content bird!!! . And a Happy Bird is a Happy ME! Lemme dream on...Should that private home happen for me as described?? Nothing will stop me from rescuing such an amazingly loving, intelligent, feeling, and a sweet angel of an animal! *Misunderstood by too many!* They DO NOT just parrot what we say...They have minds of their own!! NEED to listen!! To what they say, what they mean, what they answer ...and of course, body language! I could go on! Thank YOU and God Bless!

    I would love to rescue any of these birds but the store next to me has macaws and such but won’t let anyone adopt amazons, cockatoos, African greys, macaws, if you’re not over sixteen and they haven’t made any sales on those same birds. They claim one of the macaws is aggressive but it just doesn’t get any love. It’s been in the same corner for years and I can’t do much for it. This store is called Birdie Bird Pet Shop and I assume a family owned business. Only one of them has let me just pet one of the sulfur crested cockatoos. The store is super tiny and with this whole covid 19 crisis I’m concerned that the birds aren’t gonna do well. It’s such a small, not big on sales store. What do you suggest I do? If anything?

    It was mentioned you don't ship birds out, ok. But what about bird toys? I'd totally buy them if you had a price list base on what sizes you offer toy wise...
    P.s. I own a Goffins who likes to over preen/pluck. And a U2 that enjoys destroying things in general😉 so toys for them would be awesome.

    Big is the thing some rescue might turn up in 2 3 7 times again, as cage small, activity
    Dislikes or ill, so I think volierer to educate some, and then the over numbers peaceful
    Away, chances are that they never have a good life..... Rescue birds are often stressed
    Easy to hold them, is not easy,,,,, initially they feel OK, but they experience ant good i have
    Rescued horses dogs some horses i see years later still challenge,
