hey ryan just so you know there is a page of the story book at the end of every VITA CARNIS video I've seen all darian's videos and on the second to last one someone has laid out all the story of the prince so far and there's a new video and that one's page is easy to read thx for all the amazing vids
Imagine seeing a Mimic run at someone, only for them to notice the Mimic and start running right back at it. The Mimic, startled, stumbles a bit, giving the person the opportunity to start just beating the shit out of it. Since Mimics are opportunistic, and aren't direct confrontationalists, it is terrified as it tries to get away
The flavor enhancer is host spores! The reason the person cooking the crawl and pasta was wearing a hazmat suit wasn't because the crawl was dangerous; It's because the flavor enhancer is host spores. During the video when the person was pouring the pasta into the dish, they lean down and the filters of a gasmask come into frame for a second.
In the first Vita Carnis video, during the section on the host of influence, in a hidden frame it shows a symbol with a black circle with a inverted red triangle within, which happens to also be the logo of the flavor enhancer company, further proving this point.
@@dodo_druid_dude8779 also the flag in the prince's boat has that black sphere with red triangle if you look. And the singularity was described as a black circle with red light inside... coincidence? I think not!
@@gandoood actually, grey is a mix of black and white. In pigments, Black and white are only produced in the complete absence or combination of all colors, respectively. In light, it’s somewhat different but the same principle, white light is a mixture of all the different color in the visible spectrum. Black, or complete darkness as some may put it, is the absence of light of any sort. Either way, they are complete opposite colors only present in extreme conditions. (extreme as far as colors go that is). They are located in the exact opposite ends of the spectrum. In fact, depending upon who you ask, they may not even be considered ‘real’ colors as they’re both extremities.
The thing about trimmings listening to radios being so interesting is that in the main video it talks about how there were a ton of trimmings gathered together under the radio dish
I think, with the Harvester part, the thing that was so horrifying was the scream of children. As people we're used to adult people being hurt and dying, but children are shielded from any kind of danger, so when we hear it, it deeply disturbs us. For me, I am really used to that kind of stuff, but when I heard that I started tearing up and had goosebumps. By the time it ended I felt like I just ran up a flight of stairs. It's truly horrifying.
its sad aswell to just imagine being in that position although its a analog horror and its fake its still disturbing to think about that being real and imagining those things happening all over the world
I'm glad I wasn't the only one that locked up at that part. The concept is freaky but I had the mindset it's all scary because we didn't have a genuine appearance for the mimic. No visual allows your worst possible imagination to replace. The thought was scarier than anything you could have seen......until that part. . .
Omg thank you for saying that I have 3 little siblings all under 5 and the blood curdling screams of the kid and mother omg that hurt my soul to hear and all I could think of was "where are my lil bros?" Even though they were in there room peacefully sleeping still had to check on them though
the flavor enhancer that was used in the cooking vid (the cook was wearing a gas mask) is most likely host spores and is being encouraged to being put on everything so the host can consume more victims. The reason for the temperature is so the spores do not die
man, that makes sense but a host wouldn't have a way to broadcast this program and organize the enhancer production maybe there's someone behind all this vita carnis thing we definitely saw a cult, but maybe there's something more sinister...
@@vlu4973 definitely something sinister, especially with the logo of the black circle and the red triangle on the bottle which has been shown many times to be important and is also the flag on the princes ship when he sails
@@Nukeaa wait really?? it's a huge detail! so that means the prince in the story is either vita carnis or the one (or the organization) behind it great job!
@@Xiiki yeah, I thought about this, but communicating and filming a whole commercial are too different things besides, there's still a factory of some sort, that produces and ships the enhancer. It's, at the very least, not entirely vita carnis's plan...
I think the whole harvester video was a demonstration by darian to show how terrible and horrifying the harvester really is as I think it was being overshadowed by the mimic and the mimic isn’t the only creature that is deadly and fatal.
Honestly the mimic is extremely humane compared to the rest of the hostile creatures, the mimic swiftly can kill you or even just severely injure you -{less humane}-> the host basically uses it’s spores to pilot your mind and body into giving it your organs while (possibly) having no recollection if you were infected or not. However the flavor enhancer has been proven to be a purposeful mine control substance. -{less humane}-> monoliths have been only confirmed to kill about a dozen or 2 people but is still mostly unknown and is capable of non physical attacks towards people. We do also know that what happens with it is that it is bad enough for officials to establish an exclusion zone. -{least humane}-> the harvester as it doesn’t care if you are a large rabbit or a 5 year old human, it will paralyze you, it will bury you alive, it will liquify you alive, it will force you to suffer.
@@pak-gg5601when u summarize it all like that, it just makes me feel scared and terrified of these creatures created by those damn roots...lowkey they remind me of the human blood roots from the Tom Cruise movie War of the World's yk where Aliens come to earth and take over the world but have left these giant ships called Tripods on earth for who knows how long and just invade, wipe out, and exterminate human beings and then just suck out all the blood out of them and just....ooze thatsht out and then everything becomes webbed/rooted remains of human blood...literally the roots from this series reminds me of that sht and I just wish they can just burn that sht to flames and wipe out these creatures, even the smaller ones
@@pak-gg5601Id argue the Mimic is still more terrifying it’s like hearing stories of man eating sharks sure they’d scare you but you have no intention of going to them as long as one avoids forests and stays in civilization you’ll never encounter a harvester meanwhile Mimics come to you and I’d picture the Mimic being relentless in its attack I know it dragged off its pray in the clip but I chalk that up to budget I’d imagine it clawing and tearing apart people with no pause or hesitation only feeding after the person has been reduced to a meat pile

Anyways, yes, it's kinda similar but also not, the stuff that the Martians spread from the Fighting Machines were just seeds that then grow into the red weed later on, nothing blood related with that one. They do eat the people tho and that's how they get sick iir as well as not being adapt to earth's envinronment.
14:00 remember when there was an article about hundreds of trimmings living under the radio station? They might be communicating with eachother or maybe they enjoy the static or depict it as rain noises and get cozy to it
The Harvester vid was so scary. The kid falling prey to the Harvester and the mother following afterwards. The imagery, the melting flesh. I really was uncomfortable watching the vid, despite Ryan being there with us.
I really like the harvester part because I think the creator realized the mimics were getting the most attention and made everything else look tame and the clip really showed how horrifying the harvesters actually are
I wonder, though, if those spines can flatten a tire? Couldn't a Hummer just roll up on the bulb and shoot it? They kill one in the raid on Facility-0 with one shot from a rifle. Granted, they probably burst the venom sac and it died from it's own venom. I read on the wiki they're not immune to their own venom.
This is the first analog horror series in a while to actually, genuinely frighten me, especially the mimic and harvester clips. Like the harvester concept was creepy enough, but to actually see it in action and on a kid out of all people made me wonder if I could even go to sleep tonight. I'm glad though that Ryan came back to this series, it's really well made and one of the best I've seen so far
after watching this whole seires it was one of the only things in a while to make me fear going to sleep. I genuiley feared if i was gonna have nightmares about vita carnis! And what fueled more of my fear was how messed up the vita carnis is.
I feel like they chose the orange color for the flavor enhancer for a reason. If you remember, the spores that get released from the host are orange in the tapes. I believe they are using the host's spores in the flavor enhancer. Either to get more sales and kind of hypnotize people to buy it, or to give the hosts more victims to feast off of.
I think they're more just trying to utilize the mind affecting properties of the spores to get people to buy more. Anyone going to the hosts would more likely be an oversight on the company's part. Unless it's like some secret society with that company as a front.
38:55 That's the family from the first episode! When there was that cut and it said, "Family attacked by harvester in local forest" That's honestly cool!
I am literally so glad that I decided to read the comments first before going in blindfolded and not knowing anything about what's to come because if I saw the video with Ryan's reaction, that wouldn't be enough for me to keep my composure because omfg this sht made me feel uncomfortable
I think this part is made to show how the vita carnis joined society -Crawl became "food" -Trimmings became pets -Mimics became Apex Predators -Harvesters became stationary threats -Meatsnakes became things that harvested on the corpses of the dead And the threats the vita carnis showed -Mimic eating the kids -Harvest murdering that mother and boy -The Meatsnake eating those who died in WWII Pretty nice
I think the kid being killed makes these creatures a thousand times more scary because they legitimately do not care if you're like 5 and just see any humans as food whether adult or children
Bro isnt it common sense tho? 'creatures' and 'humans' are completely different as even if humans have morals, creatures don't. They aren't 'humane' because they aren't even human
nature has no morality other than doing whatever makes you best able to pass on your genes. for evolutionary and natural purposes, nothing else matters and all ideals of human morality and belief are beyond irrelevant
just to add to the fanfare for vita carnis, the harvester documentary if the first time in my life a piece of horror has ever made me feel genuinely unwell. coming from someone who watched the first aliens movie when they were nine and was completely un-phased, that video is 100x scarier then the alien movie for one simple reason, the crying. thats not the normal elbow scrape or trip and fall cry, thats the cry you hear when something bad happens. shout out to all my fellow older sibling out there who now that sound as hell.
Dude I have watched all alien films, the H-Centipede trilogy, every saw film, all episodes of the Walking dead, 1/3 of the silent hill titles, all dead space titles, and both outlasts and this clip still is still more horrifying than 99% of the things that are in those Film/shows/games.
The Painter takes the cake of scariest analog horror for me because of how sick I think the creator is to come up with the scenarios they come up with. The worst thing about is despite a well-written world like Vita Carnis, The events in The Painter could legitimately happen and there are people that sick, so it's mortifying. I refuse to watch it.
The harvester scene is the most terrifying and the most uncomfortable as you literally can here their screams once they trip onto the harvester’s tentacles.
This is what I'm thinking as well since the spores don't appear to actually be dangerous alone, all they are is an attractant similar to a specific parasite found in domestic cats that when consumed by other mammals through their feces, makes you strongly attracted to cats because it's meant to host in small mammals in its early life stages and morph into its adult reproductive form only inside of a cat's gut. Similar to that it seems, the spores can't actually do anything within a human host and need to be returned to the original host, though while in cats the parasite is more an accidental helper that will die without intervention after around a month, the host's spores are a direct and conscious hunting method that I think in the previous video it said they expire and the effects wear off after only around a week? Why people would be purposely infecting themselves and trying to keep those effects from wearing off is beyond me if this guess is correct, but I'm sure as more is revealed, it may be a cult but it might also be the fault of survivors of the host's spore infection and maybe it's likened to a drug trip? Idk, that or we're seeing propaganda from mimics that kept that fine balance of enough prey to develop into a more humanoid form but not enough to progress into the larger and more dangerous elder stage posing as humans in a joint effort with one or more hosts to draw in more prey for both parties. There is the thing about the singularity and them communicating via radio signals so I'm leaning toward a hive mind situation and the different forms we see similar to specialized workers in bee or ant colonies, but for now... Those are just theories and this is slowly becoming more and more horrifying ^^'
@Gummy well the idea of spores is that they are air born and burning them would likely destroy them, I think the Ida of it being on food is to mask it and maybe it would slowly infect someone over time due to it being cooked in. Idk just my theory and I like the mimic idea, especially with the idea of humanoid mimics like one as a leader or president would be scary as hell.
@@thefather2281 well... I think the ad did say not to heat up the flavor enhancer and irl spores are far more resistant to extreme cold then extreme heat. I'd also love to know the actual intelligence level of mimics and if they can learn to speak in complete sentences without just parroting what they've already heard or choose to not attack people in a more humanoid form to keep up the guise of being human long term. Idk but the elder version seems incapable of masking as a human both morphologically and behaviorally as they seem to become completely feral. Idk, I'm still in this comment section because I wanna hear every single theory because I'm invested at this point lol
@Discordia Creates honestly the elder mimics seem more like a brute force option, being much more heavily armored and I think bigger? Based off the diagram shown they seem bigger so they'd be able to over power more hosts and survive with little to no injuries idk that's my though sorta like the type C in smile tapes compared to type B. Also I'm curious about it to as they can replicate speech but im not sure about coming up with new speech maybe the more doppelganger like ones can speak better as they have been around longer? Same with the elders? Idk I want to see more of the older type mimics and I loved how the harvesters were shown to be horrific honestly that freaked me out since I have a few little siblings who I take for walks around my area just the idea scared tf out of me. And I'd like to add that I would like it to see how mimics interact with say the harvester like would they trigger it and could they fight it out? Do mimics work together? And if not do they brawl or nah? Would a mimic be threatened by a host? Idk it all seems so cool and I wish the monoliths would see more action soon idk this series is so good and filled with questions waiting to be flushed out.
The mom had a gorier cutscene. Cause you could actually see her face melting while she screams. But overall the kid dying is a scarier concept than just an adult dying.
33:39 this part where Chris disappeared was absolutely HORRIFYING for me. The mimic is such an excellent predator that it can silently snatch people without anyone noticing. Scary stuff.
I think that the “prince” in the books are the vita varnis things, the things that took care of it are human beings or scientists, they asked for help about some sort of issue(mb like a food shortage) and then we welcomed them with open arms, but some of them are deadly and seek our downfall (I don’t know if Ryan might have thought of this but just here to let people know)
Yes, I was thinking similar! Maybe this prince truly was trying to help, but either its idea of helping was dangerous to humans, or humans somehow misused what was given to us? Or perhaps, when presented with an issue like food shortages/overpopulation, the "prince" sent things to take care of that.
i saw someone theorise that the sea in the story represented space, and the singularity was the prince, going into a deep slumber but a cult fed it which quickly unleashed the vita carnis species, and the cult instructed it to help them restart the world, the hosts way of eating is very similar to cult activities
@@D3niz3n the critters/us asked for help because the world is being destroyed, the prince/that black ball said he would help, and he is, even because the critters asked to save the world from destruction and decay, however, who is making the world come in in destruction and decay we are ourselves, so to heal the world, the prince is eliminating the problem; ourselves
As I heard from someone who read this before, what strikes the most fear is not the roar of the hunter, but the cry of the prey. Summed up perfectly in the Harvester video, those screams were bone chilling.
For the "General" seen in the last video, you can see his badge has the same logo as the flavour enhancer company. So they obviously discovered meat snakes can grow MASSIVE if fed large amounts, so in my theory, they fed it Dead German POW's. They might have taken some of the big meat snakes flesh and put it into the enhancer to make it smell better to make people want to have it. Another theory of mine is that the actual little things for the flavour enhancer is the spores from a host. Why was the guy wearing a hazmat suit in the cooking video?, so he doesn't inhale spore toxin and sacrifice himself to the host. When the person eats food with the enhancer, the spores explode in the stomach in VERY large amounts which would allow symptoms to take over sooner, and start the walking process to the host sooner. Also, the enhancer probably needs to be kept under 60 degrees because the spores will die if it goes over.
It's curious, because that island, the one shown in multiple maps from all these different episodes, found in Hudson Bay, Canada, doesn't exist in real life. It's also where the monoliths were found in the original video. Very interesting. Note: The harvesters, then, appear to be moving inwards towards the island on the bay. Not sure if they can cross water, but there is already a substantial population on the island. It's where the monoliths are, like I said, so it's definitely a point of interest.
Awh man I just typed this out too! I'm glad to see im not the only that took notice of their movements and the center point is very likely the island where the monoliths are. Definitely not a coincidence. I wonder if they would even NEED to cross water, considering they have super long roots, wonder if they could just connect to one another underneath the ground.
I have a few theories, one could be that a HUGE meat worm with grass and such on it is the island and it mutated the host things off of it. That could be why they are recorded to extend deep underground. Another theory is that it is where the vita carnis evolved from and supposedly was brought to mainland by the prince character (could symbolize something, maybe a greater, celestial force) who helped the critters (vita carnis) get a food source, which is us
I had fallen asleep watching a different 8-BitRyan video, and this came on the autoplay in my room. I've never been so terrified then waking up to the childs screams at 40:45...
the way how the series has a cycle starting with not very scary, but very detailed concepts with the lesser creatures before moving onto to the truly horrifying ones is genius. you get immersed into thinking the world is plausible/real in the moment with the initial stuff, which makes the actually scary creatures feel all the more real.
this series really utilizes the feeling of losing power. humans have ruled over the world for millions of years and now this strange species is taking over and we cant do anything about it. it just reminds me we really arent the rulers of this galaxy or even the solar system, and that the world that we know can be taken away from us so easily.
I couldn't even watch these alone, it genuinely just scares me. I'm glad he returned to this, his facecam being there as well as doing commentary makes me feel more calmed
The Harvester clip scared me so much that I had to get up and walk up to both my cousins(ages 8 to 10) and hug them and talk nonsense about how they need to run if something goes wrong. Paranoia plays a good role in this series not gonna lie, and it’s terrifying how it plays with the fears and natural instincts of humans.
@@coolfirebrfo3046 ah yes, stereotypes about bears, vodka and hardbass. well uh i don't listen to hardbass, and i don't think most of us do. i understand this was a joke and now im gonna get r/wooshed but welp
Fun fact:The flavor enhancer is made from the spores of the host .We can see this in the analog when they are showing the host theres a split second where we can see a red triangle that is the same as the one in the jar not only that but in the cooking show you can see the protagonist using a gás mask so that the spores dont infect him and when he is putting the jar the music changes meaning that the musician got infected 7:50
@@Just_a_piece_of_breadI watched a ElectroBOOM Video as Mine cuz MAN Was it Gruesome, and I watched it in School with a Classmate for the first time & still felt Disturbed 😖
What I love about these videos are that they subtly show that these things have evolved since the release of the documentary. Trimmings live longer and have begun to spy on humans. You are supposed to fight mimics now, and they are less afraid to hunt in open areas, or hunt two people at once. Meat snakes have learned to release a pleasant scent, luring creatures forwards. Even the harvester has modified its toxins to allow the victims to scream and has figured out how to move. The information from the guide videos are always at the back of your mind too, I was always thinking about how a harvester may be in the forest or a mimic could hide inside the junk car, how the entire family in the third video could be mimics.
AND the host as well Because the flavour enhancer actually was orange, and the host’s spores were orange. This why people handling it were wearing hazmat suits
honesty trimmings living longer could just be a result of being pets. a great example of this is stray cats (and outdoor cats) vs indoor cats. Stray (and out door cats) live about 2-3 years. Indoor cats live 12-18.
While this is absolutely terrifying, I comfort myself with the possible bloopers that could've happened in the course of filming the video footage lmao
Imagine if a Mimic sees some buff dude walking by themselves, it starts going towards him for the kill, only for five more buffet dudes to walk out from corners or from behind walls and they start rushing it
@@Bluesit32 i dont think they are i feel like the reason people think that is because they are scary and no one has really started a attack on them i feel like they can be killed its just that no one has really tried yet i mean whats the point of calling the cops if weapons dont do anything
The species anomaly report was the most terrifying and graphic one yet holy shit. That is on-par with gore, the most terrifying part is when it shows the mother and son being eating alive leaving nothing but slimy bones. You what to see the closest thing to gore? Well that’s the video
ive seen real gore before and regret seeing those videos. but jesus christ, the child’s melting face and exposed skull made me extremely uncomfortable, it isn’t even real-life gore either which makes it all more terrifying.

@@bennyboi7488 that’s why this series isn’t for the faint of heart Also are you ok because if you aren’t then I would urge you to go see a therapist ♥️
I feel like the flavor enhancer is some form of byproduct by either the crawl or maybe even the black fleshy orb, the fact that this powder has the power to make people have a need for it or control them to continually consume it. I just can't wait to see what the next episode has in store, and I also need to check in with Gemini Home Entertainment too Edit: I'd like to add that the logo on the shaker is a black orb with a triangle in the middle, I dont remember if the orb had a triangle, but yeah I thought I'd mention it
Ik this is like 5 months late but the choice of a black circle surrounding the triangle reminds me of the monolith and anomaly ( Anomalies being black circles and monoliths having a triangular hole in their face )
the person cooking was wearing a hazmat suit because the "flavor enhancer" is the spores from the host that's why the guitar went stupid when they put in on.
Theory on how these things might communicate: It said that you should tell the Trimming about your day and if anything interesting happened. And the theory is that all of these creatures can communicate through radio waves. In the last video it said mimics observe people’s daily routine. What if… the Trimmings hear you talk about your day, gather information, and through the radio waves they communicate this info to the mimics? Creepy.
That would be real creepy. However I don’t like it in terms of world building. Having all the species talk to each other just makes it seem less realistic. I hope it’s not this way. It’d be more realistic if it was simply just sensitive to radio waves - after all it doesn’t really have eyes or ears so idk. Plus the singularity emits different waves and the monoliths emit emps so maybe it’s just a connection between the 2? After all they are the same genus
Wasn't there a specimen that emitted spores to control its victims? I think that's what is in the flavour enhancement... Also, have you seen the flag on the Prince's raft at 47:21? Kinda looks like the logo of the company...
The mimic's hiding part got me some serious paranoia, i got up to check my closet for the past 2 days, its like, i know this isnt real but at the same time my fear is getting into my head because the concept is actually creepy.
I just want to point out as well, when watching the harvesters move from august to September they were all moving inwards to another Carnis.. the monoliths. Refer back to the other video covering the different species and you will see that the monoliths are supposedly stationed on that Island which seems to be the center point of the Harvesters movements (aka the destination to which they are to convene at if allowed to progress). Also the meat snake that was found in the tunnel had that news paper article partially blacked out of information in the previous video. Saying it was being fed and possibly has cult activities related to it. Interesting series and I like the little bits of info you can find in other videos and add them onto what ever new info comes out.
The harvester part genuinely terrified me it was soul crushingly horrifying the blood curdling screams, the part where the child's skin was melting and the eyes were falling out terrified the shit out of me and it was nightmare fuel
Even if the visuals ain’t the best I still am completely in love with this series as it’s pretty well made and seems like there is actual live and care in it
See this is why I like to watch these! When I went and watched these alone after his last video, I assumed the cook whom I assumed may be the channel creator just didn't want people to know what he looked like, not even his skin color, for privacy reasons or to keep people focused on the content and not him. Now we've got all sorts of theories X) The mimic one seems best to me and may cover story as well as possible ideas I had too. 11:00 also I'm so glad I'm not alone, THEY ARE SO CUTE ~14:00 So smart! Why I luv ya and your channel 19:17 Anyone else see a skateboard wheel in the third photo? lol
This is exceptionally well made. The use of practical effects creates a certain corporeality that CGI doesn't usually capture (and honestly, the way the props and costumes are made, with the, well, not sloppy, but kind of messiness to them, really adds to the uncanny valley).
My guess for the flavor enhancer is that it is possibly the spores of the Hosts. So that, once you add it to food, you are consuming the spores, and basically signing your death warrant.
The Triming care guide is so cool, the trimming itself is so cute, I would honestly have one if the existed, and the fact that it shows you affection and it's calm makes it even cuter, and since it gets entertained by a tv means I could watch any show that I like that nobody else likes makes it better, and him socializing with other trimming is really cool and quite frankly makes them cuter, so yeah, trimmngs are so cool, and cute too.
This is nightmare fuel.. Also @8bitryan . The part where you teared up at the eerie crying, it was the rapid decomposition of a kid and the mother caused by the harvester. Showing the victims still are able to cry and feel the pain even if they can’t move
Why would they melt though? It has a coagulant and have a neurotoxin, which one makes the victim bleed and cant feel it, I dont understand how the body "melts"
@@dfensless It's probably them underground being digested. It does say that smaller tendrils come out and drag the prey under to eat it, leaving only a skeleton.
@@dfensless I'm gonna guess they've evolved to speed up the process, so instead of waiting for the victims to die first like they used to, they jump straight to digesting. that or it was just symbolism. either wat absolutely horrific to watch
Because of how unique and terrifying the concept is, and how it uses the horrific concept of hopelessness, the Harvesters are absolutely nightmarish and by far one of the scariest creature concepts ever made, imo...
I don't know what it was, but that video was the first time I genuinely understood someone screaming out the word 'no' in that kind of a situation. Maybe it's just because of autism, but I've never really been able to make sense of that. Vita Carnis actually did something that I've only really ever had Skinamarink done: Make me have a unique experience with horror beyond just having a unique concept. Skinamarink was the first time I had to step away from a horror movie for a couple of minutes, and this is the first time a character has screamed 'no' without me thinking it's weird and maybe even a little dumb
You mentioning the use of a gloves and a hazmat suit while dealing with the crawl made me think of how some peppers are so spicy you have to hold them with welding gloves, so maybe the crawl has a self defence system that causes their body to produce high levels of capsaicin?
It's very disturbing to think that the harvester picked off half of the family because they didn't know about the root of the harvester. I feel all the more uncomfortable knowing that it claimed their lives in the most brutal way in a matter of seconds too.
On the map shown in the Harvester video, that island in the middle of Hudson's bay (the big lake in the middle of Canada) doesn't actually exist in real life, the Harvester population seems to be moving towards that island, weirdly enough, this island is also where the 7 Monoliths are. (the big guys with the hole in their heads)
I’m glad to see surges of analog horror, especially great ones like these. It’s a great opportunity to capitalize on creativity, with the way RUclips‘s algorithm is promoting analog horror so much
Mimic was definitely scary, but my gods… remembering the part of the Harvester’s vines “THRASHING” to increase the amount of blood lose from the other venom, seeing that cloud of blood painted a very vivid picture
About that 1945 Snake Tape, I have a theory. In the last minutes of the tape for a split second, we could see a general and since it was discovered during WW2, my theory is that the general is a high-ranking N*zi Officer with a scientist group that has done some experiments on that snake which might be the reason why the snake was extremely buffed. Moreover, the corpses might be Jewish people who were sacrificed by the Officer for further research. EDIT: If you take a closer look at the Officer's uniform you can see the Iron Cross and right beside it you can also see the EXACT logo the previous tape's "Flavor Enhancer" ad uses, this can also support my "WW2 Nzi Officer, scientist team and their research" theory. Since all these roots back to WW2's Nzi Germany times, these Nzi Scientist groups might be the reason behind the revival of Vita Carnis. As you all already know every Vita Carnis video we get a minute-long short stories about some ancient prince. And there is one thing I can assure and that is the Mad Nzi Scientists are known for recovering ancient relics and such. The circle that Monoliths made can also be a ritual site to revive something, yes you guessed it right something ancient. In short, this whole ancient Vita Carnis thing might be revived by them. If you still don't get what I mean that's all right because I'm just sharing my own thoughts. If you all agree and share your own thoughts we might be able to solve a huge chunk of this horrifying puzzle. (And yes I know that symbol is related to some cult, that's why I'm using the terms "ancient" and "relic" too much.)
Great video as always, Ryan! Vita Carnis is genuinely one of the scariest things I've seen in a while, especially considering how cryptic and also scientific it feels at the same time. If you want another good analog horror, I'd recommend watching Urbanspook's series. Currently, it's not that long, but it's really horrific in comparison to most other analog horror videos. Also, Ryan, if you do somehow see this comment, I would really love to see you play ULTRAKILL one day. It's a great game, and I think you'd have a lot of fun with it.
The mimic defense video was the first one I watched, and since then, I gained another vhs horror series to watch and figure out the lore. The irl mimic costume is very impressive too!
I absolutely love this series, the part with the Harvester especially left me speechless. It just puts in that type of realism and reality as to what I would’ve been like to have these abnormal beings living alongside humans.
The Harvester one was truly gruesome, they're like Smokers from L4D. Pretty scary stuff. im guessing the flavor enhancer was about the host of influence, considering it's almost addictive properties
In the first video, it said that when cooking the crawl shouldn't reach above 60 degrees, so I think the flavor enhancer is either made with the crawl or a byproduct of the crawl and best-case scenario it serves as a way for the crawl to spread. Realistically, it probably influences the actions of whoever's consuming it, and over time may even modify their physical attributes either causing them to become more like the other Vita Carnis or causing them to become less fearful of predators the same way the cat parasite does.
can we just all appreciate how cute the trimmings are? they kinda look like turtles in a way and the fact they love watching tv makes it such a good pet.
14:01 quick theory: the trimmings liking the TV and radio might be related to the previous part where we get a flash about a mass gathering of trimmings under a satellite dish
I like to think of the trimmings as basically just a red turtle on a special diet. Small, round, eats cat/dog food, nocturnal, likes to listen, and can be booped. A perfect companion.
up until you realize that they're basically spies and are only with you to get as much information as possible so possibly a more hostile one can come get you.
Perhaps another theory to consider would be that these tapes are created by a mimic. I mention this because you saw that a word was spelled wrong, then I started thinking about why. An agency trying to protect the human population would not be so careless, and the story of the prince said that the more they fed him, the more they grew healthy. Cooking and eating this material may allow them access to human thought, kind of like the Aliens in the movies. They inherited memories generationally.
So apparently Vita Carnus in Latin translates to "The Life of The Flesh" and ABBREVIATUS is Latin for Abbreviated, the definition of the word abbreviated is "shortened" or "cut short" which means the Mimics probably kill or "cut short" the life of the person they are imitating...
The thing is with the harvester vid is that you would normally expect screams that sound incredibly over exaggerated but it actually sounds like a cry of pain and the part with the kid disturbed me. The fact there is nothing you can do disturbs me even more
So, Ryan. Something I've noticed is that the videos are released in the sequence of order that was in the documentary. First it was the crawl, next the trimming, after that the meat snake, next mimic, fourth was the harvester. So like the comments suggest it was the Host, and that would follow the order. But, I'm wondering what the Monolith will look like. Same as Verum Carnis...

I think the whole harvester video was a demonstration by darian to show how terrible and horrifying the harvester really is as I think it was being overshadowed by the mimic and the mimic isn’t the only creature that is deadly and fatal.
Honestly the mimic is extremely humane compared to the rest of the hostile creatures,
the mimic swiftly can kill you or even just severely injure you
-{less humane}-> the host basically uses it’s spores to pilot your mind and body into giving it your organs while (possibly) having no recollection if you were infected or not.

I feel like they chose the orange color for the flavor enhancer for a reason. If you remember, the spores that get released from the host are orange in the tapes. The worst thing about is despite a well-written world like Vita Carnis, The events in The Painter could legitimately happen and there are people that sick, so it's mortifying. I refuse to watch it.
The harvester scene is the most terrifying and the most uncomfortable as you literally can here their screams once they trip onto the harvester’s tentacles.
personally, I think the flavor enhancer is actually those spore like things that make you go to the host which is probably why they wore a hazmat suit
Omg

@@sansinfinity7532 kind of stupid for a intelligent creature to not know that by "helping us" means to actaully "help us" and not kill us all.
As I heard from someone who read this before, what strikes the most fear is not the roar of the hunter, but the cry of the prey.
Summed up perfectly in the Harvester video, those screams were bone chilling.
Especially given that in Vita Carnis's world, It must not be the first or last time parents will have to hear their children die.
Why is every one using dots..
This may not have anything to do with this but:
Didn't the prince leave an island?
Note: sorry for the bad English.
Awh man I just typed this out too! I'm glad to see im not the only that took notice of their movements and the center point is very likely the island where the monoliths are. @@SPC1978 true he did
I have a few theories, one could be that a HUGE meat worm with grass and such on it is the island and it mutated the host things off of it.
AND the host as well
Because the flavour enhancer actually was orange, and the host’s spores were orange. This why people handling it were wearing hazmat suits
the snake they were talking about was in 1945. It was a unique creature, a last stage evolution. It was an anomaly, not a rule
It’s like all of the creatures are evolving. And I thought the trimmings and the meat snakes would be harmless. But not anymore.
oh yes cause the family that got brutally mauled well screaming and had children and a mother was a mimic, because that makes so much sense
honesty trimmings living longer could just be a result of being pets. a great example of this is stray cats (and outdoor cats) vs indoor cats. Stray (and out door cats) live about 2-3 years. Indoor cats live 12-18.
While this is absolutely terrifying, I comfort myself with the possible bloopers that could've happened in the course of filming the video footage lmao
one thing that is so creepy and trippy about analog horror, is that it is so well made, that it’s almost like it’s real in a way.

Terrifying
ive seen real gore before and regret seeing those videos. but jesus christ, the child’s melting face and exposed skull made me extremely uncomfortable, it isn’t even real-life gore either which makes it all more terrifying.

I feel like the flavor enhancer is some form of byproduct by either the crawl or maybe even the black fleshy orb, the fact that this powder has the power to make people have a need for it or control them to continually consume it. I just can't wait to see what the next episode has in store, and I also need to check in with Gemini Home Entertainment too
Edit: I'd like to add that the logo on the shaker is a black orb with a triangle in the middle, I dont remember if the orb had a triangle, but yeah I thought I'd mention it
The flavor enhancer appears to be the spores from the host.
The black orb with the triangle briefly appears in the documentary for a spilt second
Theory on how these things might communicate:
It said that you should tell the Trimming about your day and if anything interesting happened. And the theory is that all of these creatures can communicate through radio waves. In the last video it said mimics observe people’s daily routine. What if… the Trimmings hear you talk about your day, gather information, and through the radio waves they communicate this info to the mimics? Creepy.
I was thinking this as well
That would be real creepy.
@@Ariatank I feel like it'd still be realistic. Like some sort of hive mind-like system communicating. But I do see where you're coming from.
Wasn't there a specimen that emitted spores to control its victims? I think that's what is in the flavour enhancement...

Interestingly the island in the Hudson bay on the map of Canada doesn't exist.
We know now where the prince (vita carnis?) came from.
The monoliths are probably on the island as well
The harvester part genuinely terrified me it was soul crushingly horrifying the blood curdling screams, the part where the child's skin was melting and the eyes were falling out terrified the shit out of me and it was nightmare fuel
Came for the mimic attack reaction, stayed for the crawl cooking tutorial.
Even if the visuals ain’t the best I still am completely in love with this series as it’s pretty well made and seems like there is actual live and care in it
Like how they showed the largely engorged meatsnake, imagine if we got a video about the elder mimic💀

This is exceptionally well made. The use of practical effects creates a certain corporeality that CGI doesn't usually capture (and honestly, the way the props and costumes are made, with the, well, not sloppy, but kind of messiness to them, really adds to the uncanny valley).
This made me shiver,I don't know how am I going to sleep tonight...The mimic and the harvester one made me jump out of my chair.
I hate it when the kids die man. Its bone chilling
The screaming and the flesh just melting away as he is still screaming makes me terrified

@@ElPolloLoco7689 unless I missed something, it could just be the bodies long after they've decayed/been used as food by the harvester

That last one was so damn terrifying I’m legit pouring tears the sound design and choice is so good
You mentioning the use of a gloves and a hazmat suit while dealing with the crawl made me think of how some peppers are so spicy you have to hold them with welding gloves, so maybe the crawl has a self defence system that causes their body to produce high levels of capsaicin?
It's very disturbing to think that the harvester picked off half of the family because they didn't know about the root of the harvester. I feel all the more uncomfortable knowing that it claimed their lives in the most brutal way in a matter of seconds too.
On the map shown in the Harvester video, that island in the middle of Hudson's bay (the big lake in the middle of Canada) doesn't actually exist in real life, the Harvester population seems to be moving towards that island, weirdly enough, this island is also where the 7 Monoliths are. (the big guys with the hole in their heads)

(And yes I know that symbol is related to some cult, that's why I'm using the terms "ancient" and "relic" too much.)
but why would Nutrire Co. or whosoever's behind this use a (probably) not-z symbol?
Great video as always, Ryan! Vita Carnis is genuinely one of the scariest things I've seen in a while, especially considering how cryptic and also scientific it feels at the same time. If you want another good analog horror, I'd recommend watching Urbanspook's series. Currently, it's not that long, but it's really horrific in comparison to most other analog horror videos. Also, Ryan, if you do somehow see this comment, I would really love to see you play ULTRAKILL one day. It's a great game, and I think you'd have a lot of fun with it.
It hurts like hell to watch that poor kid scream and end up dead.
Bro... the screaming in the harvester video left a cold feeling in my stomach. Like It wasn't scary it just felt... nerve racking.
In the first video, it said that when cooking the crawl shouldn't reach above 60 degrees, so I think the flavor enhancer is either made with the crawl or a byproduct of the crawl and best-case scenario it serves as a way for the crawl to spread. Realistically, it probably influences the actions of whoever's consuming it, and over time may even modify their physical attributes either causing them to become more like the other Vita Carnis or causing them to become less fearful of predators the same way the cat parasite does.
can we just all appreciate how cute the trimmings are? they kinda look like turtles in a way and the fact they love watching tv makes it such a good pet.

this is no longer analog horror, this is a redroom film.. this is GENUALLY creepy.

The Harvester clip was the first time I paused a video to collect myself. This a very well-done series.
as the mimic in the video, I can confirm that the 2 people were easily to attack
💀
Perhaps another theory to consider would be that these tapes are created by a mimic. I mention this because you saw that a word was spelled wrong, then I started thinking about why. An agency trying to protect the human population would not be so careless, and the story of the prince said that the more they fed him, the more they grew healthy. Cooking and eating this material may allow them access to human thought, kind of like the Aliens in the movies. They inherited memories generationally.
I think the creator just misspelled the word and didn't notice it

So apparently Vita Carnus in Latin translates to "The Life of The Flesh" and ABBREVIATUS is Latin for Abbreviated, the definition of the word abbreviated is "shortened" or "cut short" which means the Mimics probably kill or "cut short" the life of the person they are imitating...
Mimic:runs towards me
Me: runs towards it
Mimic:visible confusion
That harvester one is terrifying, it doesn’t need le imposter, it’s just horrible in a realistic way
if you look back at part 1, the location they redacted about the monoliths is where the harvesters are gathering
The thing is with the harvester vid is that you would normally expect screams that sound incredibly over exaggerated but it actually sounds like a cry of pain and the part with the kid disturbed me. The fact there is nothing you can do disturbs me even more
Creepy so creepy minic part
