- It's common to have your kitchen drawer stuck from utensils jammed in the ceiling of the drawer box. Here is an easy and quick way to unjam the drawer without breaking it open. Simple use a metal coat hanger to move the stuck utensils.
Thank you so much for this video. My drawer has been stuck for two days and I was about to head to home depot to get some tools to do something. You saved me a trip and money!
That’s fantastic! Glad the video helped! Thank you for commenting! Have a fantastic weekend!
@@DDIY-Guy I put my playstation in my drawer and now my playstation 4 is stuck and I won't come out what do I do
Oh boy…you might have to cut open the front of the drawer and replace it after. Or if you want to risk it, get 2 flat head screwdriver, wedge it at both ends of the drawer opening and pry it open.
@@DDIY-Guy I tried to wedge it but it didn't work I will have to cut open the front of the drawer and replace it
That might be the only option you got. Hope it works out for you.
Thank you SO much! My drawer was so stuck and I had tried putting flat objects in to try to unjar it, shaking violently.. nothing was working. I didn’t even expect to find anything on the internet when I googled this. It worked in less than 3 minutes !!! So grateful !
Glad it worked for you! Thanks for commenting. Have a great rest of the week!

Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou! Brilliant, fixed the problem in 2 seconds with your method after trying unsuccessfully for an hour with other methods.
Glad the video helped. Thanks for commenting. Have a great weekend !
But my pliers are in the drawer... XD
Wire coat hangers should easily be untwisted by hand...just be careful.
Same case here!
I dont have wire hangers and spent 20 min trying to pry it open. I only have plastic and Wood hangers lucky my grandmother had some wire hangers on her closet and I opened the drawer in less than 2 min.
I ended up using kitchen knife to pry it open
You are amazing!!! After two days of trying with zero luck, this worked!! Thank you so much!
glad it finally worked for you!! thank you for commenting. Have a fantastic rest of the week!
THANK YOU!!!!! It works!!!! I didn’t even have to untwist the hanger. I just bent flattened the hanger. Start poking on the drawer, less than 1 minute it’s opened!!! Great!!!

That’s fantastic! So glad that this technique worked for you. Thanks for commenting. Have a great rest of the week.
Thank you very much. It worked and my wife could open the stuck drawer with easily available tools . My wife is very intelligent and she rotated the straightened hangar at right angle and the stuck drawer opened
I’m glad you were able to open it. Thanks for commenting. Have a great rest of the weekend
Worked for me, just when I thought I’d have to call in a handyman. Thanks
Glad it worked for you!! Thanks for commenting. Have a great rest of the week.
Worked great! I did double the hanger for a stiffer piece of wire, but I got it open in about a minute. Lifesaver!! Thanks!
Glad it worked for you!
I really didn't think this was going to work, but after pushing the whole coathanger into my kitchen drawer and moving it around it opened. In the back of the drawer a pair of herb scissors had got wedged right into the wood. Whew ! Thanks so much.
Glad it worked for you! Thanks for commenting. Have a fantastic weekend!
I really love RUclips. Watched the video and immediately gave it a “yeah right” but tried anyway. 30 seconds later, open! This is my long-winded way of saying Thank You!

Affable, pleasant guy with a genius solution that saved us tonight! Thanks so much!
Glad the video helped. Thank you for commenting. Have a great rest of the weekend.
Thank you. I was frantic because a set of tongs had opened up in the drawer blocking the smooth opening process. Just a little tip - I wrapped the hanger in duck tape so it wouldn’t scratch the white cabinet. I said a little prayer and WHA-LAH - it opened. Thank you so much. We have a brand new kitchen and I really appreciate your help. ♥️
love the tip! thanks for commenting!!! glad you got it open...and love that you added a prayer :-) it always seems to work out better for me when I do that :-) have a great rest of the week!
@@DDIY-Guy A a great rest of the week to you too!! 💕 🙏
The duck tape and the prayer certainly helped me persevere. Thanks for the extra ideas !
Amazing. Just fixed my kitchen drawer. Thank you so much

Great suggestion. It worked on my stuck drawer Thanks.
Glad it worked for you. Thanks for commenting!
Thanks, Danny! I was able to open the drawer on my antique desk in less than 15 seconds! It took me longer to find an old wire hanger than it took to open the drawer. :)
Glad to hear it worked! Thanks for commenting. Have a great rest of the weekend!
Danny, my goodness...SIMPLE GENIUS AND FREE. I had used a coathanger which I straightened to clear out my vaccuum hose very gently. The jammed top kitchen drawer...I had tried a long knife, chopsticks, pair of strong scissors...all requiring extra gentle and careful aim. I also had opened drawers on each side to allow me clearance at the front. But...wow, like people below...a simple tool we all have for free....and mine cleared a metal soup ladle in half a minute. Brilliant...and yes...FREE.
Ok this worked like magic. Tried for 20 mins with various things around the house then tried this hanger trick and it worked in like 30 seconds!
That's awesome! Glad it worked that fast for you! Thanks for commenting. Have a great rest of the week!
Worked. You need to be patient and really shake the drawer. Thank you for posting this video!
Ya...it took me a while to get it loose so yes...lots of patience :-). Glad it worked for you too. Thanks for commenting. Have a great rest of the weekend.
This worked in about 10mins for me. Thanks very much - great video!
LITERALLY DID IT & IT WORKED INSTANTLY!
THANK YOU!
wow! that’s fantastic. thanks for commenting and glad it worked!
This worked great, i didnt even need pliers just used the hanger's hook directly
Based on # of thumbs down some obviously, understandably struggled with this. I did too for a while but finally opened a very stuck, overly stuffed cutlery door. Make sure to put the hanger straight in & move left to right while shaking the door, for as many times as it takes. Once I perfected that technique, after going through 2 hangers, sometimes just in from the side (without enough left to right from the front), I got it in a few mins. Thanks DDIY!
Glad it worked for you! Thanks for commenting. Have a great rest of the week!
This was amazing 🎉 thank you! Worked like a charm after trying for an over hour, this took 5 mins! Thank goodness for youtube

Helpful video! Preliminary step: Shake your drawer back and forth in different direction. Up and down, side to side, front to back. You may find your drawer can open afterwards!
great tip for those who have a drawer that has a bit of give to be able to wiggle.
Absolutely fantastic result, thank you!
Glad it worked for you! Thanks for commenting. Have a great rest of the week!
My pliers were in the drawer, too but I didn't need them to open up the hanger. It worked! Thanks, great tip.
Awesome! Glad it worked for you! Have a great rest of the weekend!
@@DDIY-Guy My husband will be very impressed!
Thanks bro, you just saved me from the BBQ spatula.
Thanks a ton. I sacrificed a plastic cloths hanger but unblocked the drawer. The v shape that forms after removing 1 side helped get in the right place and move what was causing the jam.
that's awesome! good to know that a plastic hanger works too! thanks for commenting. have a fantastic rest of the weekend!
Cheers mate...
Great idea ,thank u so much.I tried and it really worked

If you can, just take out the drawer next to it, normally you should be able to see what’s making the other one stuck. Just worked for me!

I broke the hanger as it wasn't wired and used the hook part to feel better. Showed me what I was doing wrong the first time. Thanks God for this video. I was honestly just about to brake the dam thing as my phone was also in there 🤣
Glad the video helped. Thanks for commenting!
Thank you so much, Protip for opening is to cut that clothes hanger like on a video but bend it in half to make it stronger and make it unbendable, if that doesn't work then bend it at the end and make it into a hook. And most importantly dont give up
I love the additional tip! And most importantly, be patient, it can take a second or 20 minutes…. but it will eventually get opened.
Came here to say it worked!!
that’s fantastic! thank you for commenting. really appreciate it. have a great rest of the week!
Thanks so much!!!T Super smart fix!!
Glad it was helpful. Thanks for commenting!
I had to do a lot of fishing, but your method worked. Thanks a lot. One of the reasons I hope they never stop making wire hangers. I feel like the fronts of kitcher drawers should be made removable.
Glad it finally worked for you. Ya, no really easy way to get it unstuck.
Thanks! You just saved me!

Thanks man, wire hanger worked. Would've hated to call the building handyman! As luck would have it, I recycle my cheap hangers so the only wire one here was built of very strong inflexible metal that even a pliar couldn't untwirl at the top without putting in more time that I wanted to. So I stuck it in still unwound and after a few movements it moved the spatula and the drawer opened. I must say, and I hope you don't think I'm ungrateful, but I was wondering how much you edited out -- I noted a cut
I also didn't want to try to saw through the hanger to remove the top assembly.
Worked in few seconds👍
Glad it worked for you. Thanks for commenting.

Hope this helps someone!
Great tip!
Wtf is adjacent
Muchas gracias 👍
