This song will be forever connected to an era of change and hope, when not even the sky was a limit. I only wish people had dared a little more change at the time. Then, we could have had more hope today, for it looks like the days of cold and even hot war come back onto us, because the wind of change didn't blow strong enough in the east, and calmed down to but a whimper today. Russia was not ready for a change.
After the wall came down, me and some friends organized international sports events with competitors from all over the world, west and east. Everyone was positive and hopeful about their future in a free world, but I haven't heard of most recently, and I fear that many of those we partied with all night, are now at war, dead, displaced, or don't dare to speak their minds any more.
Winds of change ...
@@martinkopplow8392So true my man. The problem is, each new generation born into prosperity has no perspective on what the hardships of war are like until and unless they've lived through it themselves, so after a couple of generations the horrors of it fade, and the flames of conflict and judgement against one another begin to stoke once again, until a build up and climax of violence reminds another generation of what really matters and what must be avoided at all costs, rinse and repeat. It's a cycle, in the 80's and 90's we were in the glorious peaceful era of the cycle, but it doesn't take a genius to look around at the youth of today and see how they invent problems to be angry about because there is no true enemy or hardship in their lives, and this drives our culture towards a unmotivated, self-centered generation with little more than disregard for the value of human life (including their own hence exploding suicide rates). By the time our children were teenagers, they believed "trying" was "lame", and people who strive are mocked and called names. Now they are in their 20's and 30's and I can promise you they would never be able to even get through boot camp much less storm the beaches of Normandy. Our nation is in huge trouble, and with it the world for if we fall, there will be no refuge from the one world government, military industrial complex, WEF world domination war-cult. Over 70,000,000 people perished in World War 2, which is more than all wars before and since COMBINED, yet I fear that will be a drop in the bucket compared to what is soon to come.
This song is epic. The fall of the Berlin Wall was so emotional, it represented the end of the Cold War….i can still hear Reagan’s voice saying TEAR DOWN THAT WALL!
Yes, I remember it plain as day “ Mr. Gorbachev tear down that wall “
That was such a pivotal point in history.
Every time I hear them, there’s something so poignant and special about them. I saw them live… It was magic.
@@KarenRennick , wow I bet it was amazing
It wasn't just bringing a end to the cold War it was a end to ww2 as well Germany was a great country and is now coming back
I was stationed in Germany during the mid to late 80s, every time I hear this song, I get chills, I was so happy seeing the wall torn down, and Germany united again.
So was my uncle who I visited while over there
Where were you? We were in Ramstein.
Tearing down that wall let the communist bastards infiltrate western Europe and take it . Its remarkable that Russia is now less of a totallitarian country than the EU .

Wildflecken FRG, 5/86 - 5/89.
I went on a Baltic cruise and when we stopped in St Pertrsburg, the Scorpions played a free concert in palace square. Seeing them play this song in Russia and being a patriotic Gen-X with a German mother, was an emotional experience.
Scorpions are a German band. Pretty good catalog of tunes...the zoo, black out, rock you like a hurricane....and more
I think Polo would like The Zoo
And prob Rock you like a hurricane .
I don’t remember Black Out, but now I’m gonna go listen to it 😊🔔🔔🔔🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
@@madelineanabella6400 enjoy!!!
Pretty good catalog of tunes? They have a legendary catalog of tunes
The best of the best of their catalouge is everything they've done between 1974 to 1984. Especially the four albums with Uli John Roth on lead guitar (the "white Hendrix") in the '70s, some of the greatest masterpieces in hard rock/heavy metal history.
This song makes me tears up not only because not only because it such a great song but it also represented the hope we all had after the fall of the Berlin Wall and in the end of the Cold War. There was such a sense of a more peaceful and better world. Wish I could go back to that time.
Gets me every time!
I feel this so much!
Gives me chills everytime I hear it.
Was just thinking the exact same thing 🙏🏼
there is so much hope for a better future wrapped up in this song it almost makes me cry every time I hear it. We are so close, it all is balanced on the edge of a knife.
We were so close. I was in Germany when the wall fell.and now the whole world has gone crazy again. Breaks my heart.
I remember this coming out about the same time I was old enough to pay attention to world events and thinking “Soviet Union fell. We won. I guess that means we don’t have to worry about war again.”
Being young and naive was pure bliss.
There was that feeling of hope like never before for the end of the cold war was real. The failure of a democratic Russia and our utter failure to help is the #1 wasted opportunity of my lifetime. So far. If we fail to defeat Trump the implications and impact will top this failure beyond imagination.
Still loving you…. The best scorpion song!
🤘🏽😎
It's great but trust me Dawn, listen to their '70s albums and you will find at least 10 "power ballads" that are even better than "Still Loving You".
Still loving you still gives me goosebumps. Awesome song. No one like you is fun too.
This hits me hard. I was trying to get out of Germany the day the wall fell. It was mayhem. I had to fight to get to the airport. They closed the doors to the plane right in my face. The mood was riotous. I'll never forget...🥀
I was in highschool when this amazing act of peace and unity took place. There was a German exchange student that year and she was at my house when these events came on the TV. She was so excited and neither of us held back tears. It truly felt like there was hope of peace in the world, but we all were wrong. This song reminds me of my dear German friend and the hope and happiness we felt on that day.
There was so much hope in the 90s for a better world... I was 14 years old when the wall fell and had the privilege to feel free, enjoy good music and life. It scares me where we are now but I hope that times are changing again. Peace and Love from Berlin, Germany!
that whistling is a reminder of the German guards whistling as they patrolled the Berlin Wall
love the Scorpions...
My dad could whistle like that all day. I miss him.
This is my first time hearing this song and I immediately Loved It👏
Hands down, this is the best song from the Scorpions.
There’s some other ballads they have that r great. Still loving you. ( is that the Scorpions? ). I think it is but not sure
@@madelineanabella6400yes, it is, and it’s great! 🙂
No One Like You is another good one from them
You must be high. They have at least 30 better songs.
@@Kontroversial88 They do have a deep catalogue for sure. I like a lot of their older stuff more.
I have served with for years in the U.S.M.C. Szymon grew up in Poland under Communist rule. We used to drink together on base and listen to this song over and over. The other day this song came on the radio in his garbage truck in Chicago, Illinois. He took a picture of it and told Me that He still thinks of all those fun times 20 years ago. Keep up the great work!
Thank you for your service, sir.
i was living in vienna, austria when the wall came down. huge changes in the general tone of things at that time. this song was such an icon
A time of hope. Wish it would have changed more. But it's definitely a little better. Peace ✌️
yet in a way, it's now a sad song.
@@boblozaintherealworld3577 watching everything going backwards at high speed. The second cold war has come. I remember as a little girl watching The Day After and being terrified of a nuclear war. But then things changed when I was 14. The Soviet Union existed no longer. Freedoms were restored to many countries. And then in 1990 the demolition of the Berlin wall. A country once divided in two was united. Germany will remain united but threats of nuclear war between Russia, along with it's allies, against NATO is once more. It's heartbreaking. But the world is such a mess that it's not something people have the energy to worry about. I know I don't, I'm waiting for God to step in before we wipe ourselves out of existence. At least that's my hope. I know many think that's a ridiculous belief and I understand and respect their opinion. In the meantime I'm just going to do my best to love my neighbor and be kind and hopefully help and encourage others to do the same. Just wish more people respected and loved one another.
@@tiffanymichaels2429 that's a good idea.
Thos is not just a song, this is an musical epic.
I love this song!! My fave from Scorpions
This song brings back memories of the hope we all felt at the fall of the Berlin Wall, it was such a time of dreams for us all. Let’s all start dreaming big dreams again.
I seen Scorpions in Germany 2 times.
They blew my mind.
They where so good
Epic song about the falling of the Berlin wall.
Love this song❤
Such a powerful song, God how I miss those days but Im so glad music never dies
Still a special song, after all these years. Brings back a memory of how much hope we felt, and a feeling of something new on the horizon. That cold war era contained a thread of hopelessness. I think we all felt it would end poorly.
Such a great song. One of my favorites, the voice with that slight raspy quality on some phrases just sends chills up my spine. This was a heartfelt song and without autotune to destroy the feel and emotion that are heartfelt by the whole band.
Great pick and reaction! always puts tears in my eyes. This is what we need right now, is to come together no matter what. What a great song that we can still relate to today.
Great German band!
Scorpions have been cited as a principal influence on the 1980s hard rock and heavy metal scenes, including artists such as Guns N' Roses, Mötley Crüe, Def Leppard, Metallica, Megadeth, Testament, Skid Row, Cinderella, Doro, Helloween, Hanoi Rocks, and Yngwie Malmsteen.
An anthem of freedom
Went to this concert some 36 years ago for this album. Definitely one I'll never forget. I literally watched guys having fist fights (multiple fights) stop and put their arms around each other when this song started lol
still loving you
We were stationed in Germany when the Wall came down. David Hasselhoff was singing live at the wall. Germans love that guy.
Actually, we kinda don't? 🙂 Hasselhoff just happened to have released a song a couple years earlier, to moderate success, called "I've been looking for freedom", which seemed kinda fitting to play when the wall actually fell. Of course he was feted then, but to say that "Germans love him" is over-exaggerated.
Saying Germans love Hasselhoff is quite an exaggeration. He had a few teenage follower*innen back then, but otherwise he just accidentally happened and then rode the wave and cashed in on it.
Ich liebe den Hoff! Durch die Kraft seiner Musik hat er unser Land wiedervereint. Ohne Looking for Freedom kein Mauerfall
This was HUGE, peace between two enemies and the wall coming down…what a beautiful tribute the Scorpions did, I’ve always loved this song and that whistle is stunning….the Nazi’s absolutely terrorized and destroyed so many
This song embodies something I never thought I'd see happen -- my country reunified. I happened to be in the UK when the first frontiers opened in 1989; somehow, that made it even more impactful and memorable. One of the best songs Germany has ever produced. Thank you.
I still get chills every time I hear this song. It was so powerful and the message behind it is just amazing. Families were divided for years between east and west Germany. Watching that wall fall is one of the greatest experiences I’ve ever had.
Chills every time. Screams HOPE, wish we had some of that now 😢
The next song you should react to "Still Lovin' You". Simply amazing.
Yessss!! My dad introduced me to the Scorpions when i was a kid and I've loved them ever since, one of my favorite bands fr ❤
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!❤
One of my favorite Scorpions songs❤
Like the group
Great song. I can't wait to see you react to "The Zoo" by Scorpions!
This song is one of the pinnacles of rock music. You cannot be a fan of the genre without loving this song and its deep meanings.
THIS SONG was SO GOOD: LIVE!!! OMG - gets me teary-eyed: EVERY TIME!! ENJOY, POLO!! :)
Love Scorpions !
Saw them 2x !
Oh man you’re in for a treat. Scorpions rock 🤟🏼
This song is huge! Very historical and emotional for many people! If you would have watched the live version, you would have seen many tears in the audience! Male and female! *cry
I always get goosebumps listening to this song and thinking about all that stories my parents told me about what it was like being on the streets in '89.
Great German band allowed to play in Russia. The Schenker brothers are both awesome., especially Michael with that flying V guitar!
Retired USN, totally a Cold Warrior. This song hit me hard. T/Y
This song always gives me chills.
Saw them in Japan at the budokan. Great concert.
This takes me back. I bought this on cd when it came out. The video has even more meaning for me personally as my father, a German teacher, was photographed at the Brandenburg Gate, Berlin, East Germany 6 weeks before the Berlin wall was erected. An iconic video and song.
This came out a few months after the Berlin Wall came down. When people heard this song from a, at the time, West German band, we all knew what it was about. The Berlin Wall went up before any of the band members were born, and I cannot begin to imagine their feelings as it came down.
The Scorpions (as in 🦂) did another song similar to this one called "Under the Same Sun" that you might enjoy as well.
We need songs like this to being us together again, the world, no, the power in the world is pulling us all apart right now, we the people are not the problem.
I love the Scorpions and this song is one of my all time favorite songs ever!! Thank you for another great reaction video! Their song "Still Loving You" is not to be missed.. absolutely phenomenal as is "Wind of Change".
An epic song relating to a world changing event ✌️✌️✌️✌️
Oh man the Scorpions, I had some feels as a teen. I absolutely never cried myself to sleep to this
Holiday and The Zoo are both in my favorites playlist. I remember wearing out my cassette of Blackout!
Growing up in the 70s most of these clips I have seen and remember events. always get emotional amazing how far we come but yet so far to go…. awesome job with this Polo. Your reactions are top notch
Terrific, emotionally charged song.
I already know you like this one... but I'm gonna enjoy watching you enjoy it. Stay warm and cozy!
This song screams 80’s heavy metal talent
“Rock you like a hurricane” is my favorite!
Polo-I really love the way you do reactions, it took me a few videos to get used to how you click in with random comments throughout, the rewinding, etc-BUT, that’s how we all listen to new songs, especially when your friend or sibling says ‘hey, you gotta listen to this song!’ -you listen together and then cool parts of the tune strike a chord, you talk to each other, even if it’s over the track “oh wow” “oooh I loved that part” “wait, what was that? Let me back that up!”
Watching your reactions takes me back to sitting in my childhood basement, listening to new records with my sisters and friends 😊
Rock On Polo!
This is a song that always makes the colors of my imagination always gray, dim but feels very soothing to my heart. this is legend.
a song of it’s time. captured the zeitgeist. What an opportunity for a future of peace and shared prosperity, finding brothers where once we had been told there were enemies. viewed now from 2024, the whole experience is tinged by sadness at what has become of that hope for a better world.
It really was amazing what was going on regarding this song. I remember those days very well.
Awesome song from a great band. They have some real rockers also. Definitely worth digging into their repertoire.
"Rock You Like A Hurricane", "Still Loving You". I saw the live with Deep Purple and Dio. What a night!
The very first time I heard this was while watching a Filipino cover band in Singapore. I had been at sea so didn't get to hear it before that.
They killed it (including the whistle)
LOVE the Scorpions. I rock with them, but this my favorite song by them.
10/03/2017 Grand Sierra Resort Reno 😎😎
Brought me to complete and utter tears! I lived this, the hope the faith , being so young! Then betrayal at every level, in every way!
When I had open heart surgery I asked the team in the OR to play some old school metal. They cranked up rock you like a hurricane. Love the Scorpions. ❤👍
These guys have some great music!!❤❤
These guys have so many great songs.
I hope at some point you react to Scorpions from the 70's, as they were much harder rock than some of this 80's stuff. "The Sails of Charon," "Holiday," "Lovedrive," "The Zoo," "Can't Live Without You"... etc. They are a very underrated 70's rock band and deserve a bit more attention.
It’s an anthem, pure and simple
The wind of change blows straight. I love that lyric. All Pneuma to me!
I got one for you. You should listen to "Ball of Confusion" by the Temptations. Great old Motown song. Yes, not only did we have great Rock bands back then, we also had Motown. Great times.
Great message that still needs to be heard every day until we get the peace we deserve.
One of my all time favs!
Check out their albums, Lovedrive, Animal Magnetism, and Tokyo Tapes. Great albums!!
❤ As always!
You need to listen to the scorpions Rock you like a Hurricane just a rockin ' track feel good hard rock !!! Awesome reaction ... 🤘🔥🎸💯... 🦂🦂🦂🦂 Scor -pions ...
Scorpions are awesome, all their songs were written the old fashioned way, with a German to English paper dictionary! Rock On!
Superb tune, memories are made of this.
Love scorpions, gota lot of great songs

great moment of History...his voice so pure
I'm going to see them live this summer
Awesome video.
I like how you love beautiful music, Sir Polo
It's a classic song for the period that still has great impact today.
Loooove the channel
Still Loving You IS the best!
The scorpions are a group that you need to go down the rabbit hole...
