Genesis...... hmmmm.... why did they pick that name..... Collins is a freemason... like most well know singers in bands like that.... the police, Queen.... get the gist?.... what's the lyrics telling you?..... look to other band lyrics..... Queen one Vision.... John Lennon Imagine.... the police... every breath you take.... what is it telling you..... freemasons are Luciferians.... new world order..... communist..... in your face.... and the lyrics are in all those songs, bands and singers.... "the pack of lies"..... religion....

    When I was 22 was having an absolute terrible day. I was at the DMV with my 6mo old son and the lady sitting across from me heard me singing a Phil Collins song from Lion King to my son quietly. She asked if I had plans for the evening. I said no, so she gave me BOX SEATS to PHIL COLLINS! The concert was that night in town, and it was a private box. It was SO amazing. I took my son bc we were in the box. So that is the story of how my son's first concert was Phil Collins at 6 mos old. My son is 18 now, and Phil Collins is one of his favorites.

  • @blakecpa

    To me, it is the best song ever. Consider: It has an exceptional intro. It grabs you emotionally. It builds masterfully. It continues building up to one of the most famous crescendos in music history. The whole tempo then changes, taking you into a powerful explosion of percussion driven passion. It's sexy, eerie, mysterious, haunting, and yet, driving, too, all in the same song. Moreover, the song is timeless. It became an instant anthem in the 1980s, yet as you can see by the reactions from the youth of the 2020s, they're blown away just as we were back in the day. What song can stun audiences from FOUR DIFFERENT DECADES? For all of these reasons, it is one of the best songs ever. Some song has to be ranked as Best Ever, so I go with this one. I could listen to it 1,000 more times. Btw, this version, his 2004 tour, is the best version of it - far better than the album.

    This track was honestly a landmark in music production, Phil Collins and co spent years trying to figure out how to make digital reverb on drums to create that iconic 80s gated reverb sound. This was a monumental jump forward in the way production treated drumming in the mix. Without this jump there would be no hip hop, no electronic music, music as we know it would be completely different. This song is massive in its impact on music production.

      And one of the craziest things is, the drums were recorded through the room mic, a low level microphone hanging in the ceiling of most studios used to amplify the musicians voices in between takes to enable conversation between the audio engineer and the band on the fly. It's what gives the drums this iconic raw distortion.

    • @MrFester63
      @MrFester63 2 года назад +8

      That iconic sound actually started as a goof, they left a (general) studio mike on by accident while Phil was playing. The pick-up of a non-dedicated mike gave it a unique signature, and the rest is history. Love it!

      He caught a lot of flack for using electronic drums before most drummers and using the recording to manipulate the sound. The first one through always gets bloody! I was a huge Genesis fan growing up, though they were a bit before my time. I'm one of the few that never felt the need to pick Phil or Peter. Many love one and hate the other. I love them both. The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway is a masterpiece, but so is the live Seconds Out with a lot of songs Peter sang originally! A Trick of the Tail is my favorite though, and of course Follow You Follow Me is my wedding song:)

    I was fortunate enough to see Phil Collins (with Genesis) back in the 80s, and there were two identical drum sets on stage. Phil took one, and another drummer took the other when Phil wasn't drumming. They had "drum break" where both were playing at the same time, and it was amazing. Their drumsticks were in perfect unison.
