One thought that I have had for a while: it is completely myopic to encourage Christians to abandon Hollywood and any hope of being a Christian witness there, and then become angry and frustrated with a Hollywood that is completely devoid of any sort of Christianity.
Apostle Paul said that we were not to judge those outside the Church but we are to judge those who identify as Christians. Trump claims to be Christian and Rib Reiner does not. Paul said if we did not work with those outside of our faith we would need to be taken out of this world.
Absolutely!!! We are to be a light everywhere, not just in our churches - That is our commission as followers of Jesus. I coach actors and am schooled in that profession. Who said we were not supposed to go into the 'world' and do our jobs. Our churches keep preaching to the choir and our salt has lost its flavor...
Starting now, full episodes are available only on Patreon. They break them up for RUclips because the algorithm doesn't like to recommend hour-long videos. They'll get more views with 10-minute chunks. And they can't put the full episode and the chunks on the same channel because the algorithms scans their content and sees duplications, which it penalizes.
@@jsharp3165- interesting. Could be right in terms of reach but I suspect the problem is more RUclips downgrades videos which only get part-watched ... so the interview section maybe dropping rate of push they would get IMHO. Regardless I hope that they make it work and if they have to try things then I wish them well. 👍
Alistair Begg is one of the greatest contemporary theologians/pastors. He preaches the doctrines do grace faithfully. In this specific instance he was asked a genuine (and very important question) from an elderly woman in regard to a make-pretend wedding between two people living in what God calls an abomination. Scripturally speaking, his answer was unbiblical and wrong. By definition, attendance of a wedding is bearing witness, and is affirming of the couple. As Voddie Baucham has said numerous times, there isn’t an 11th Commandment “Thou Shalt Be Nice”. Begg is a fallible man, like the rest of us, who, in light of his very well known status and respect amongst Reformed Christians, needs to repent. He’s not a false teacher, he doesn’t need to be “canceled”, but he was wrong. I know that I am one of many, many people who have prayed that he would really go back to some self examination, repent, and his Parkside church can move on from this unwanted attention. Any Christian in a similar situation as this lady needs to remember that Jesus died for you; your grandson didn’t. Be more concerned with honoring Christ.
@@patrickc3419 I'm waiting for people to go off on those who attend weddings of divorced people. It sure seems like we have double standards for adulterous weddings and same-sex weddings.
@@jsharp3165 My wife and I PERSONALLY, no, would not attend the re-marriage of a divorced person either, and I would recommend that to anyone. Per Matthew 5:32, that is also a sin before God’s eyes, as the Bible equates that to adultery. Both are unbiblical. But the sin of homosexuality is specifically called “an abomination”. A divorce is committing a sin. Being a homosexual is LIVING in sin. There is no such thing as a ‘same sex wedding. They don’t exist.
@@jsharp3165 My wife and I have actually indeed declined wedding invitations (including for relatives) if it is a marriage after an unbiblical divorce. Like homosexuality, remarriage after divorce is also a sin (see Matthew 5:32). The distinction is that the “wedding”, while still a sin for the latter, is not illegitimate, nor in celebration of what God calls an abomination, as the former certainly is. But yes, that is a very good observation. Both are sinful.
@@patrickc3419 God hates divorce. Doesn't that qualify as an abomination? The Book of Clarence is an on-point Christian movie. The far right doesn't want you going to Hollywood because they know it will have a wide reach and be very accurate.
Can you please share/explain, with scripture as your guide/reference point, in what way this is an on point Christian movie? Is the Gospel proclaimed and exegeted?
And The Sound of Freedom is an on point movie about child trafficking. The left not only didn’t want anyone to see it, they lambasted it because it hit too close to home.
I have a question about your answer. Does that mean that Christians should not work with or for Christian companies? How are we to be a light and witness as Jesus instructed if we don’t interact with non-believers?
@@thabiti03 I’m sorry for the late response; I only saw your question now. That’s a great question. Barring someone who literally works as a church pastor, or is full time missionary, those of us who are employed all work alongside the unsaved. It’s inevitable. Christ himself said wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it, per Matthew 7:13. There are far, far more souls entering Hell each day than entering Heaven. Since we don’t know who God is going to save (Jonah 2:9 explains that salvation is of the Lord), we take the opportunity when it affords itself to share the Gospel and the doctrines of grace with the unsaved. While the Gospel is the same yesterday today and forever, the method can be different as long as the essentials of the Gospel are not compromised. My wife and I have experienced numerous times that wearing a sweatshirt or t shirt with a message can lead to great conversations. The Lord has blessed me the ability to buy and give bibles to unsaved coworkers. You can go to Barnes and Noble with Gospel tracts and fill up the books in the New Age, false religions, or pornography sections. There are “Thank You for your Service” tracts you can give waitresses, police officers, military veterans, firefighters, etc. During the nice weather months up here, members of my church will do sidewalk open air evangelism outside our small church or at an abortion clinic. So I guess as long as there will be unsaved there will always be ways to share the Gospel. As far as “Christian companies”, I guess I’d recommend as long as they stay faithful to the tenets of the faith & do not compromise with false teachers, then a Christian wanting to work at one should pray, and seek the Lord’s wisdom in scripture, and as long as there is no observable sin being practiced, then they should feel free to work there. One more thing: Always be aware that there is “good ecumenism”, and “bad ecumenism”. What I mean by that is there are disagreements we as believers will always have on non essentials (i.e. eschatology, church governance, frequency of the Lord’s supper, contemporary music vs. hymns), but that doesn’t negate anyone’s salvation. My own church is 1689 Baptist, and we joyfully partner and have done services with an Orthodox Presbyterian church. My previous Baptist church would occasionally do music worship with an Anglican church. On the flip side, we would absolutely never do Gospel work alongside Mormons, Roman Catholic, or Jehovah Witnesses, as they believe a different gospel. We would certainly give them the Gospel because we love them. I hope that helps.
@@thabiti03 For whatever reason, I’m not getting notifications, so sorry for the late reply. I guess I’d say if a business bills itself as Christian, believer seeking to work there should pray, be discerning, and if it the company is not practicing anything unbiblical, then the person should feel free to work there. We definitely should be interacting with the unsaved. Point of fact, Christians are called to in Matthew 28. The vast majority of people, barring them being employed as a full time pastor or a missionary, will spend their lives at a secular job, so the best, most fulfilling way to be an employee is to work for the glory of God and to take advantage of Gospel opportunities with your unsaved coworkers.
Good afternoon from the beautiful SF Bay Area. This is so pathetic. I would recommend checking out the Faithful America online community to help you deal with this stuff. There is a wonderful conversation with Rev. Nathan Empsall and Rob and Dan regarding the documentary and their motives. I saw the trailer and am looking forward to seeing it.
