The MIGHTY au. Im a old bloke. So its heart warming to see a young bloke loving the au. Ive had many falcons. And still have a couple of au wagons. May the force be with you always. Just please be careful about your id. Mate.
Going through abit mentally right now,I had to get rid of my car I've had for ten years which didn't help because that used to be my outlet to clear my head..just go for a drive, this was therapeutic for me and I appreciate it very much Rex,watching your videos gives me joy...thankyou 🙏🙏
Sick seeing you driving around that area. Learned how to drive in a very similar au on those exact roads. Great roads up here.(miinus the potholes) Ps every falcon leaks from the timing case. You can seal it again and find the same thing happening 20,000ks down the line best to just reseal it when it gets too bad
100% best vid you have ever made. keep up the good work and I cant wait till i buy an AU FALCON. (6 months till I'm on my L's) EDIT: 2 years later im on my L's booked for my P's and i now own an AU. Its a manual ute. It was my dads and he sold it to me.
Your tow rig has to be a Territory! A mighty barra powered SUV that shares legit everything with a falcon, they are also really affordable and cheap as to get parts for! you also gotta go to Jollys in Dandenong, the place is filled with AUs, and unlike Imlachs its all concrete.
I used to have an ed xr6 with the pod, pacemakers and 3” straight exhaust, this was probs about 15 years ago on my ps, this vid brought me back to my youth and I think I even had a tear in my eye. Back then everyone’s first car was a VL all the way up to the VS, Fords never got any looks, nice to see the 4L 6 straight get some love :)
Also, regarding oil leaks, my AU appears to have a massive engine oil leak, covering the underside of the engine, however we monitor the oil levels, and it only drops a few tens of mL's at most between service, and it has done this for over 10 years now.
For the tow rig, ISUZU DMAX's (and MUX's) can be modified easily and tuned to make 200kw and 800NM of torque with an exhaust and intake mod. Plus they are also rated for 3500kg towing. But then again, so can the landcruisers, difference is the Isuzu is a bit cheaper to buy, and quite a bit cheaper to run, with about 10L/100km when towing. My cousin towed his camper trailer through an offroad track, and it averaged 11l/100km lol.
The reason prado balljoints are notorious for failing (as well as gen 3 surfs/4runners) is that the balljoint is in tension so as they wear they pull apart. Fortunately, falcons are designed differently so this is less likely but it's obviously a good idea to replace when they are as worn as that. Keep up the good work
I'm an old geeza with a white AU, on gas only. 160,000 kms. The only good thing I've done to it so far is put Falken tyres on it. Yours looks bonza! S.A.
Sounds boss asf. Is it worth replacing the stock steering wheel with an aftermarket one? Thinkn momo or nardi. Just want a better feel on an already 'go karty' AU. Or better stay with original?
The 4.0 OHC are a great engine, a real gem for those wanting a fun car on a budget but not keen of shitfighting over flogged out green tops with clowns who think they are going to make 1000hp for $2000.00
9:10 HILARIOUS COMMENT! take it you carnts! lol the fact your out in someone else neighborhood ripping it up made me subscribe, listen to that thing. i need to get my 7 back on the road again.
Rex New to the channel, but l have to say that lm so happy l came across it. You're a bloody legend mate, is there any thoughts of making a video of the build, like engine parts, etc?
watched rudniks video drifting the auto AU now this is recommended LMAO but def dont fukc around with balljoints get some high quality ones or youll regret it when it breaks on the road
What kind of mount do you use for your head and how tall are you? Id like to get some footage like this for my XF Falcon but thinking it might be too high to the roof.
So regarding the Toyota Prado they can do that but that's after a long time of neglecting the ball joints overall they would have to be one of the most reliable cars ever my mum has one and she has done just the normal servicing and we haven't had a problem with her she has just over 500.000 they have lasted to 1m it just comes down to looking after the car and servicing when needed and it's a Petrol suprisingly the diesel Prados last not as long as the petrols
random question. whats the go with deep dish wheels on cars that they arent legal for? what are we talking with fines and that or is it just a defect notice?
Ummm, don’t assume they are illegal. Just because the factory wheels are boring doesn’t mean different ones are illegal. Factory alloys with thick hub areas look like they have no dish, yet steel wheels, which are very durable, may appear to have much deeper dish for the same offset. I’ve done exactly this on my old EB Falcon. The wheels look waaaay more aggressive , yet are well within allowable size, width and offset.
@@bengibson3955 for vic anyway, if the car comes with steering wheel airbag and is made after ‘95, it needs to have one on any replacement/aftermarket steering wheel.
@@Sutoriku nobody has discussed steering wheels. The original comment and my response were both clearly referring to wheel rim/tyre combos. I 100% agree with your comment re steering wheels with airbags, but it’s irrelevant to this discussion.

Love my 6 speed sequential territory. Barra sounds so good just wish it revved higher.
Jolly's prices are way higher than Imlachs though, Harvey in langwarrin still has tonnes of AU's

3bond is the best sealant for long term oil jointing most off shelf rtv silicone is either too soft or degrades after so many heat cycles
