@@JoshuaBardwellhi! Is it possible to add my own data to osd? For example I want to fly 10km and is it possible to calculate and show how many distance left to achieve this goal?
Sidebars provide visual divisioning as well as a reference for vertical alignment towards the centre of the screen. Both of these are useful for framing with videography, and for aligning the quad on more distant objects for precision flight... Plus they look cool 😅
I gotta say... these Betaflight walkthrough videos are so thorough, and incredibly helpful! PLEASE do not stop making them as they are single handedly allowing me not punch a whole in my computer out of frustration.
This is a great series! Everyone watching the whole thing will be a Betaflight expert by the end of it! You're covering a lot of options that I wasn't sure about, and some of them are pretty cool! Total flights? I had no idea the FC kept track of that!
I wonder how it tracks though. If it was simply tracking the amount of arms, it could be pretty inaccurate because of arming/disarming to check motors and turtle mode etc
To set timezone correction for "RTC date and time" OSD setting enter "set timezone_offset_minutes = 180" (apply your timezone) in Betaflight CLI, and for "Tx uplink power" to display the meaningful value (otherwise it is always zero) enter "set expresslrs_switch_mode = WIDE" (set "Switch Mode: Wide" in Lua script of the controller).
I started yesterday and I'm just about to watch the last episode, at the ending of this video I thought you were gonna talk about dji system set up only as you actually did with VTXs, It would be cool to have a video where you cover all about at once. Thank you so much for these series, I'm liking all of the videos in a row (this was perfect timing cuz I'm just finishing a new couple builds)
Always excellent information, we don't have words to express our gratitude for all you do for the FPV community. Thank you again. NOTE: For altitude warning you meant to say that BF altitude is on meters, however 400 is max. altitude in feet in accordance with FAA part 107 CFR in the U.S.A.
regarding the RTC date and time.. thr DVR in my eachine EV200D goggles timestamps all my recordings in minutes from when the goggles were powered up starting in Dec 31st 2010... so having the date and time on the osd can help a lot with identifying flights and lining them up with hd footage or blackbox logs
These are great videos, thanks JB. You answered a lot of detailed questions about features most of us would have never used, making us all better. thanks Again...
Truly a really great playlist. From since when I am in RC (a little more than a decade now), this is the first time I have watched all videos in a playlist, minute by minute and start to end. I can never ever do something like this, this is a lot of hard work, perseverance and patience, thank you for this JB! When can we expect the next episode? I am stuck to this playlist, my family thinks I am preparing for an exam lol., Also for those using FrSky R9 S port telemetry, the "TX Uplink Power" on OSD is NOT working, shows 0 all the time - if this helps anybody.
Great video Bardwell! That intro is the absolute best, lol. I just wanted to say that I love my bones, and although I don't bando bash with it...I do some "light" freestyle and have put it through around 30 crashes at this point. I designed a sleeve mount for it with some guarded sections for the vents and a covered side to keep the SD card from having ejection issues which seems to be protecting it pretty well so far. Now that could change tomorrow...who knows. There is no way I would be running it using the attached mount adapter on the back either, that thing would absolutely break off in a crash no question. The first issue I had with it was the plug not being readily available. It is a Molex Pico SPOX rather than something more common like a JST, and the fact that gopro doesn't carry them (or didnt last time i looked) on there website was disappointing. You can't really get a connector kit and make your own either as the only places carrying the parts are stores like Mouser and you have to buy quantity for it to work out. The quality of the cable was also super poor, and the ends kept wanting to slip out of the connector constantly. Second issue I had was actually the opposite of what you are talking about on its rated voltage range. I decided to run it off of a 5v BEC at first. The Caddx one I had been previously running my peanut on actually. The camera would power up and start recording, I would arm and it would keep going, but as soon as I put a load on the motors and the voltage dipped even slightly below 5v it would shut off. I imagine the iflight balance adapter has a better BEC, but just something to look out for if you are running at 5v. I have been running mine on 6s via a vbatt pad on my FC and put around 70 packs through it without any damage to the camera, not to say that a big spike couldn't kill it. I think it is just important to be running a big enough cap and TVS diode to keep that under control. It is also possible that some of those issues were actually the pins slipping in the connector....because if they were like mine it will absolutely happen. I had to use a dab of E6000 to keep my wires secure even after making sure the plastic retention clips were as tight as they could get.
I setup the profile selection as you indicated and while having different selections for profiles 1, 2 and 3 the 3 way switch assigned to the Aux channel does not change the OSD profile. The Aux switch position is correctly indicated in the Adjustments tab with a full range of 900-2100. Not sure if or why it would make any difference but I am using a Avatar digital system. PS: The selections are being tested with the quad unhooked from the USB. i.e. The controller has been rebooted after OSD profiles were set. TIA
Once you're done with the PID tuning video you can start again with iNav and ArduPilot. Thank you JB. This was fantastic. I got a quad flying today (for the first time) which I've had for a couple of years. I previously didn't know how to set it up correctly.

Kind of a long shot but hoping someone will be able to help me here. Why is it that I can't see the bottom part of the image in my goggles? Like I have to move everything at the bottom of the osd up a few rows to be able to see it. I'm using the runcam phoenix 2 jb edition and have it set to 4:3. Changing between 4:3 and 16:9 just stretches and squeezes the image but still doesnt show me the bottom part. And then when I change my goggles (fatshark transformers) between 16:9 and 4:3, it still doesn't show the bottom. In RF Split mode (the mode I need when the screen is attached to the binoculars) , I don't even have the option to switch between 16:9 and 4:3, but I can see the bottom part of the screen is just black so there is clearly enough area on the screen to show the bottom part of the image, it just won't show it.
