That joke of a mayor literally said "L.A metro is safe" the same day that woman was stabbed to death
Are you old enough to know of other officials who have said the same? Perhaps you're just using the talking points of others...
While her home was being burglarized 😂
I heard the mayor say that it was safe too, they were laughing about it on KFI.
I heard that! Mayor Karen Bass!
@@hmalone9951irrelevant, stick to the topic. Speaking about now the current times. This mayor and governor newsome are useless
Bring back mental institutions.
They're letting this happen so they have a reason to bring them back, and then they'll use them for political opponents.
EXACTLY. And they only care about this victim bc she's hispanic. Were she whyte? They'd ignore it. Think the LA Metro council has "moment of silence" for whyte victims?? No way.
A small group of people causing most of the problems.
Do forget about the large group of people that wanted to defund the police and strop prosecuting that small group. It's called cause and effect

shatterproof protection for the drivers?...what about the riders?...they are the ones taking on the brunt of these attacks.
Unfortunately while the chaos is going behind the protective barrier, the bus driver is still in control of the street fighter-esque fighting level
If the driver is hurt everyone on and near the bus gets hurt.
The driver can just swerve and disrupt the fighting.
You mean the democrat voters? Oh the irony.
@@unkonoyou don’t realize what you’re saying. There’s far too much liability in that.
The entire city of LA is in need of a state of an emergency. Just the Metro? lol
💯💯💯💯‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️
Los Angeles, where criminals have more rights than victims
Coordinated by the gov in L.A.
We're pawns in their game. Wake up 🍿
Exactly.

Kinda scary how LA's not the only city in the U.S. your description describes.
@@ablackbunny3149 facts. the country as a whole is becoming a toilet bro and I don’t see it getting better anytime soon
If the transit system isn’t safe, it’s useless😢
This has nothing to do with safety. Safety has to do with tripping hazards, fire hazards, etc. Someone being STABBED is a freakin SECURITY issue!!!!!
It’s never been safe
All of L.A. should be under safety emergency. It's worse now than the early 90's.
even though i was born in 1990. i do remember the mid/late 90s as a kid and the only thing that scared me was the gang members. Now everyone is killing people. and the gang members atleast for the most part aren't something i'm worried about.
It's definitely not worse than the 90s 😂
No it's not, 1992 homicide was over 1200. Now it's about 300 per year. You're just on the phone too much.
Remember NY before Giuliani 😂
@@The_Quaalude Yeah it's not worse than the 90s, man them gangs were something else back then, and we also had THE RIOTS lmao
Should have been declared a long time ago😶
I agree
Yup
Seriously!!!!! Why suddenly now??? 🙄
💯 “crime is down in LA” because when you release the perpetrator after they are arrested and they are not charged it doesn’t get into the statistics as a crime.
Glass around driver is good, but what about passenger safety? 🤔
That's the scariest part. The bus system is so massive in L.A. They'd need to have security/safety advocates in yellow vests who can get on the buses and check for people sleeping, vagrancy, mental health issues. It should be a system (if it doesn’t already exist) where drivers can press a button and alert safety/security staff.
Personal responsibility for ones self. Fight back or don't. simple as that
Lmao some of us arent taking any chances.. we gon make it where we goin
they wont crash but it will be a lot of cleaning
You’re safety is you have to pay your taxes shut up stay in line and don’t cause any problems
If a driver gets stabbed it's an emergency, but if a passenger gets stabbed it's not?😵
Just like break-ins, if it happens to a law abiding citizen they let them walk, when it happens to the mayor they are locked up right away
Everybody saying we need security officers. the police could barely control these animals. What is a security officer going to do? The crazy part about security officer is that we have guns we have for pepper spray and yes, we have a taser and a baton. At the end of the day, we get a lawsuit. Or we have people in the metro recording us telling us to leave the homeless people alone.
There just doesn't seem to be less an less places to stay safe..so sad because alot of the public need these services😢
Who did you vote for?
Don’t look to other alternatives!
Remain loyal to our selection of party!
There are more Metro Officers than stations but you never see them. Public employees.
Because they know they have a cushy job or they can hide in text message all day
Why don't people put poster of DA Gascon saying You are not Safe in LA. I guarantee it.
Terribly horrifying, absolutely. I'm glad they are taking measures to protect the HUMAN drivers of these buses. For instance, I was visiting San Francisco over Christmas 2023 and if you get in almost any SF bus, even the street cars on Market Street, you'll have a glass barrier between the driver and the passenger for safety. It needed to be done and it should've been done a long time ago in L.A. NYC is already out of control with the mental illness issue plaguing its subway systems (stabb!ngs, people/buskers/musicians getting assauIted, folks getting pushed onto train tracks, etc.) also there needs to be security/police riding the rails (wearing bright yellow vests to help riders) -- I have even seen this done in Paris, France and Berlin, Germany.
The 4 is the homeless shelter on wheels. It’s insane how unsafe the bus system is. Where is mayor Bass?
I remember when it was RTD and gangs were at their worst it wasn't this bad .
I truly dislike that women saying "I will not ride the bus alone". Even if you had to, no one would be there every day to hold your hand. I drove half my life until I was diagnosed with Epilepsy. You'll be surprised what you'll do to get yourself back on your feet. Uber is to darn expensive & adds up. SAFETY FOR ALL, DRIVERS & RIDERS!! The city has the money, but they choose how to spend it. IT'S EASY FOR THEM TO BRUSH IT OFF OR ACT LIKE THEY ARE CONCERN. LET'S MAKE THESE MAYORS/OFFICIALS RIDE THE BUS FOR MONTHS TO TRULY UNDERSTAND. PERIOD!
ridership is up because more people are poor
Gavin makes LA looks like little Haiti 🇭🇹, he’s the greatest governor Californian ever going to get
Or because new rail lines opened hmm?
That is what they will not tell you also ridership is up because we have 10,000 nincompoops come across the border a day
@@user-lp1jw9bo5y I'm going to ignore the racism but you honestly don't think opening nearly 10 miles of new track in the last 18 months - including a busy section that improved journeys downtown - is responsible, it's Mexicans?
@@kyletopfer7818It’s not Mexicans. Take a look at the faces of the people coming across the border in any of the videos available. Spanish speakers are in the minority.
Yea they fail to mention the bus hijacking just last month FYI
All of a sudden they care
Only because some big official must be riding Metro, they could careless about the average working stiff 😮

Why have the metro ambassadors if they just get on the buses to be on their phone! 🤦🏻♀️

I even get anxious sometimes when I rite metro, but that’s my form of transportation. As the years go by the world is getting more dangerous. All we can do is to always be aware of our surroundings and try to be safe.
Just in time for the Olympics. Way to go, LA!
12 deaths from stabbing 🗡 on metro in 4 years not getting better
13%
13%CM. 13% crime matters
Between 1982 and December 2023, 80 out of the 149 mass shootings in the United States were carried out by White shooters. By comparison, the perpetrator was African American in 26 mass shootings, and Latino in 12. When calculated as percentages, this amounts to 54 percent, 17 percent, and eight percent respectively. Have a great day!
This is the lie that keeps getting repeated which is why the real crimes go unabated. Just stop it.
CCW for MTA Operators...
About 10-15 years too late.. Just give up and shut it down...refund tax payers...
I used to live in LA until I moved out 5 years ago for Japan. I was born and raised there too. For years I rode the Metro, gold line, silver line, red line, purple line, and many buses. Until I saved up for a car, I counted my blessings I made it out alive. Saw some really terrible things. Bus drivers usually did nothing as metro never wants their drivers to get involved out of liability. I couldn't even call Metro security about the terrible things happening because "we won't accept calls when you're riding the bus". So unbelievable.
It's just not worth anyone's life to ride LA public transit anymore. Metro base their service on social justice agendas and until they change that mindset, it won't change.
Now I ride the trains again in Japan and it's so relaxing (at least when it's not rush hour haha). Very cool to have options to travel by train, bus, and car with peace in mind. I want to believe Metro will eventually come around but might be wishful thinking. To those riding public transit, just save up for a car. Traffic sucks but at least there's less chance of random encounters with totally insane people. Be safe out there~
What happened to the ambassador officers that were supposed to be better than cops?
What a joke. This defunding of police is crazy. Are the elected officials up in Sacramento waiting until after the election to do something?
They’re worried about the “safety of the metro system”, not the people who pay and ride for it. Same for the sidewalks. Same for people in their homes. The people in city government only care about not looking bad for actually doing something about the “unhoused” and “legal non-complaints” and “unhoused legal non-complaints “. (Can’t use “homeless” or ‘“criminals” any more.
But Gavin is building a park.. how could this be
Crime is "DOWN" only people are not reporting it because they know the police will do NOTHING! Just ask people around in LA and you understand why.
(Doesn't have to take the metro)
The Mayor: "The LA metro is safe"
(Has to take the metro)
The Public: "The LA metro isn't safe"
We all know which group is causing the majority of the problems. 😏
Name the group because "we" all do not know.

Relying on the government for anything, especially your transportation, is always a bad idea.
It was mind blowing to me when I moved to Los Angeles 15 years ago to see that there was no security in the metro and there weren’t even turnstiles at the time in the Hollywood and Vine metro station and anyone could just walk on without paying.
DC metro has its own police and they have a booth right next to the turnstiles at every entrance and a heavy presence everywhere. And we’ve all seen the security measures in the New York subway, so it’s weird that Los Angeles has always been so loose with its public transportation and then surprised, nobody wants to use it.
Gascon soft on crime policies, smh
What’s new? People in this county voted for Gascon one to many times. Criminals rule the street and do no wrong in Gascons eyes.

Hasn’t these emergencies happened before and usually just consist of putting officers to patrol station for about a month and then everything goes back to how it was originally until the next emergency is declared 🤨
Oh it has nothing to do with them hiring baby sitters in place of police officers???
Stay Away From METRO if You Want To Live...!
Thanks for the folks who voted for Bass and Newsom
0:43 lucky for her, she doesn’t depend on metro. But many residents of DO depend on metro.
Perception is not everything. Taking meaningful action is more - like putting career criminals in jail.
Listen! Don’t just hear word! Government officials main concern is to convince the public that all forms of public transportation is safe. They’re always looking for a return on the billions of dollars that were invested.
Long overdue- NYC already did this for their buses several years ago.
Right. I'm surprised it has been done sooner. Also saw glass barriers for bus drivers in San Francisco while visiting over Christmas. There were also glass barriers in the streetcars on Market Street.
Doesn't help passenger safety one bit.
@@simplechronology2605 Sure it does. A nut attacking a bus driver while the bus is in operation puts all passengers at risk. That's why they have protective booths for train conductors and airline pilots.
Still much safer than cars
How is that possible if crime is down?
The two aren't mutually exclusive. One rate is over 12 months, these crimes are over the last several weeks.
@@mrxman581 I suggest the rates are not representative of the reality.
Consider disillusion with policing makes people report less of the crimes. As there is little faith in the justice system. Given they are let lose within 3 days.
I know this first hand.
They don’t prosecute crimes, as we see over and over again by habitual offenders, that’s why “crime is down”statistic wise but that’s not reality. These people do no live in reality.
Seems goofy that you can't carry your CCW on you on public transit. I guess that's why they say concealed is concealed

Ban homeless people
Then how are we further the agenda of modern urban Democratic plantation cities with that idea

It's not just the homeless it's the immigrants coming in by the thousands.
This is becoming a theme. New York isn't the only one having issues. Non of us are safe on public transit riding with weirdos. We don't give our transit operators enough thanks for putting their lives in danger to get us to too and fro safely!
L.A. Government Summary: "We will not put one career criminal in jail. We care more."
New york court sytem is the only one to blame. Start holding people accountable!
Or you can let your good citizens of California, to have a concealed carry permit.
Declaring Safety Emergency. Translation: New leadership is needed.
And they want to shame people for driving the car they want to drive

I rode the metro and a guy was laying on the train with feet out the door and the conductor did nothing. Didn’t call the cops, didn’t make an announcement. The metro just sat there and I was wondering if I would catch my flight. We felt scared. Then a couple bigger passengers came and moved the guy so the door would close. Where is security to keep people who shouldn’t be on the train off.
Why don’t they just hire lapd officers to ride the buses ??
Driving too
As a stewardess as well
They have. 😊
They literally have their own police... no one can figure out what they actually do though
They aren’t that brave
I don’t ride public transportation here, but I’m going to order pepper spray or better yet bear spray today. This is nuts.
Yes and the drivers need to carry it.
Bring back the sheriff's to patrol the lines.
What about the metro security guard that had her throat slashed this week???
You mention a case from a month ago but leave out this one??
Operators have been assaulted for years. AND, disciplined when they protect themselves.
This is just an attempt at damage control...
At this point, there needs to be some type of TSA like in airports, at every train station. The safety of the public should be a priority.
Coming to a city near you!
This is why we can't have nice things
Like that's going to make a difference.
If I plan go to LA and i will not take the LA metro because is not safe and i rather take lyft or cab
Newsom too busy approving new hiking trails
I saw someone get stabbed on the redline at Macarthur park...I don't think the cops even showed up.
Protect yourselves.
It's a mental hospital train...
I stopped paying for the train years ago, ill pay the moment there is security and the homeless stop smoking crask in it or stopped riding. If i ever get cited ill tell that same thing to the judge.
They say its serious now when a city employee gets stabbed because they have to pay out.
Safety is an issue on transit systems across the country, literally the same issue is going on everywhere
Bit of a hard contrast between the Japanese rails that were so safe and clean in my travels. I was unsure about using them at first because of my experiences with LA's.
I'm a armed guard with metro, allot of the crimes are committed by homeless and drug users. Keep protection and be alert at all times while riding please.
Should probably ban knives now, right?
If it's an emergency why not shut it down till the situation is resolved?
LA should have never gotten a subway system!
I thought there was a bunch of added security a few months ago I saw them hyping about? What happened to it?
the security found out it pays more to be the criminals and jointed the party. 😂
The majority of buses in the UK have perspex between them and customers to stop this. Was a lot of it here till they put the protection up
Just when has public transportation been safe?
Statistics are down, perception is everything? Maybe barely anyone bothers to report crime anymore as it's a futile effort?
Ohhhh theres a cure to the problem...
Yes plz bring safety to our ppl
"Some crimes are down"? Which ones? Because in a previous story on this subject the crimes that were down literally included "crimes against people" and some other ridiculous, vague category. Perception, in this case, is reality. Reform your law enforcement and mental health care laws, Los Angeles.
So NOW they’re outraged at the attacks on the Metro? Notice how they responded with “swift and decisive action” … they’re going to put plastic barriers around the drivers (leaving the passengers to fend for themselves.)
