A local couple has started a website called dumbwireless.com. It helps people adopt a less screen-filled lifestyle by offering a range of non-smartphones. If you're not quite ready to ditch your smartphone, an app called BePresent can help you put down your phone.

I wouldn't call the Unihertz Jelly Star a dumb phone. It's just a tiny Android phone. Anyway, if anyone is able to buy a regular smartphone and just use it as a dumbphone, then they have a dumbphone. The problem is, just having a dumbphone does limit you when you do need a smartphone feature. A dumbphone may not be able to do things like take a picture (or take a decent picture) or login to your online banking. If you have a true dumbphone and find yourself needing those features, you'll need to carry around and digital camera and a laptop at the same time. What's the point in carrying all that when it can all be in a smartphone?

The problem with going back is society's dependence on it, say you need a qr code, can't print anything, need to order food instantly, the ability to purchase anything if your wallet is lost, etc. I'd say the biggest problem with smartphones are the gratifications of social media
