Brother. I live vicariously through you. Lol I hope to one day soon be flying my own. I almost wish I could shadow you for a week just to experience this, and hopefully to suck up some good ideas and inspiration. Bless you both.
I really like the sonex planes. Do two people actually fit in them? I just turned 66 and flew for the first time in 40 years this Monday, really would like to get one of these. I'm kind of like to get a fully built b model but I'm getting older and might be a while to see them start going up for sale. I appreciate any info you can give me!
Great video , looks like you guys had a lot of fun. I am a student pilot myself. Once I get my PPL, I plan on budgeting about $60k for my aircraft purchase. I am weighing the Pros/Cons of buying a 40 year old Piper/Cessna or buying/building a Sonex-B. Any thoughts?
Great video, thank you for taking us along on your adventure. This motivates me to get my PPL and buy a used Sonex, great aircraft. I'm a controller at L.A. Center, call me up some time for flight following! My airspace starts at HEC VOR, talk to you soon! Take care!
Jim, what does your Sonex weigh empty? What mph would you get solo at 8000 feet msl at 2600-2700 rpm with Prince Q tip cruise prop? What is the pitch and length of your Prince Prop
Awesome trip and nice airplane. I've been to Big Bear airport many times. It's beautiful up there. I've just had so many engine failures in lots of aircraft types including rotorcraft that flying in that area scares me.
Sounds like operator error. Perfectly good planes and better engines don't just fail without the human missing something of screwing up something or not doing maintenance.
great airplane for you and the wife, nice trip. I was building an airplane to show my honey far away places from 3000 feet unfortunately she died before we finished the project. I am going to build a waiex B it's some airplane have fun and be safe.
Thanks for sharing, your fun adventure.
Excellent video, thank you for sharing and God bless you and your wife!
Great scenery, thanks for sharing! I own and fly N125YX, a Sonex Waiex. It’s a ball of fun to fly!
Wonderful video. I sold my Sonex a few years ago. This video reminds me of how much fun it was and really makes me miss it.
I enjoyed tagging along once again. Great adventures!
This was very fun to watch!! Thanks for sharing!! Congratulations on completing that beautiful Waiex!! Best regards from Brasilia, Brazil.

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 great video! Fun and informative! Thank you!
Love your plane, if I ever go LSA Im gonna get a Sonex B model.
Cool video! Looks like you two had a blast! Awesome! I can not wait to buy this kit and build it, I'm itching for it. Soon. Take care.
*_Great_** video, you two!*
This is awesome, I’ve been in and out of Big Bear with a friend in his Piper . Ready to get a Sonex. Gas sipper and fast.

That’s life right there
Nice!
Nice plane, cute wife. I flew my 69 Mooney out of L22 and KTNP to Big Bear for fuel. Flew into Bolder and Henderson. Thinking about building a plane.
How tall are you? Curious if I fit at 6ft6in tall. Great video!
do you have any info on: build time/cost, if can travel >100kts?, if you like it?? Thx

Really nice vid - more pilot/cabin pov would be even better (imo 😉
How much did this aircraft cost in total
Impressive TAS. I fly out of crq. You still based at rnm
Jim, are you still flying your Waiex
Good now they offer the Rotax in these seems like all those engine failures are always aeroVee.
Fantastic! Is Ramona your point of origin?
I'm based out of Ramona where I finished the build and did the original flight testing. Great airport and great people.
@@JimHicke It's my favorite town. Started wintering there last year. Could you email me? 40.john@gmail DOT com Thanks!
How tall are you?
I am so glad you did not go with the killer turbo VW.
Music on hold.
Solar powered bird zapper?
Any bird that flies near that power plant gets fried! :)
That’s pretty scary... no survival gear on board?
What kind of survival gear would you expect them to carry? lol
@@tken93 lol? What happens after you lose an engine in remote mountains?
@@robertkrane967 Transponder, ADS-B, Radio, etc.. If they did go down, it would not take long to find them
@@tken93 There are plenty of stories of planes found years later after a crash. look it up
