    This was my first big coaster, snuck on it by standing on my tip toes at only 5 years old back in 1990, I guess the ride attendants didn't care that day lol. My dad sat next to me and held his arm against my head because he said he thought it was going to break my neck 😅 Started my lifelong love of thrill rides!

    I know this is heresy but I prefer this to Goliath (the one in the same park since clarification is always needed with that name.) This is my third favorite ride in the park just behind Twisted Cyclone and Monster Mansion and ahead of Goliath.

    • @zacg_
      @zacg_ 2 года назад +1

      @@maincoasters yep. I find Monster Mansion to be a very good dark ride. I find Goliath to be a lower tier B&M hypercoaster with way too much of a rattle compared to the others. It's cool that it goes outside the park, the helix is really good and the final bunny hills have good airtime. But the first half rides like the first half of Magnum XL-200 (which isn't a good thing.) When people compare Goliath and Twisted Cyclone to decide which is the best coaster at SFOG I think that's silly. Twisted Cyclone is a WAY better ride. I also prefer Mind Bender because I think it's just a more satisfying experience with better pacing.

    Ok so I rode this for the first time this year (2022) in April and it's the best coaster in the park by far! Very smooth for a ride of that age, great pacing, trims were minimal, g-forcs was good, and what else can I say it was a great coaster! Stop at the end is kinda abrupt and you should brace for it.
    I also rode Revolution at SFMM 3 weeks after riding Mindbender and while I enjoyed it too I do think that it trims a bit harshly after the tunnel....kinda kills the ride from there to the end. However it was still one of my favs at Magic Mountain and I got to stay on for 7 consecutive circuits because nobody was in line that day!

      Six Flags just can’t get the train upgrades right. They ruined GASM by taking off the PTC trains with buzz bars and putting the old Cyclone trains on it, now they put shorter trains on Mindbender. I realize I am complaining more about what they did to Scream Machine than Mindbender lol!

    I've heard that the trims are worse than they used to be. I haven't ridden it since it has reopened :( So is that what your experience was?

    • @Danrarbc
      @Danrarbc 2 года назад +3

      They probably upgraded the control system and are able to tune the speed in more than they used to. So sometimes they might bite harder, and others they won't at all. I'm not familiar enough with the ride but it's entirely possible the old system was manual based on the ride timer (ie: ride op enables trim if the trains start arriving too quickly).

    • @NICKDOTPNG
      @NICKDOTPNG 2 года назад +3

      i rode it after the renovation and it didnt feel that different. still very fast and forceful

    • @caseysmith5890
      @caseysmith5890 2 года назад +1

      I have ridden it about 15 times this season. The first time we rode it, right after re opening the trims were awful. It seems like they have gotten it figured out now and it's not really any different than it was in the past. The capacity took a hit, but the new trains are much more comfortable

    • @Danrarbc
      @Danrarbc 2 года назад +1

      @@NICKDOTPNG I've been on a couple months before closure and the weekend it reopened (both early and late in the day). About as close to each other as possible.
      The trims trigger more often now since it seems to calculate train speed every run and applies braking to hit a target speed. Morning rides before it seemed to be possible to ride with little or no trim. They definitely fixed the worst jolts that developed with age - but they didn't over-smooth it, it's appropriate to the feel for this coaster type. I don't know if I'd have wanted a Nor'Easter-style retrack here.
      The B&M trains are kinda shocking for how close they get to the originals while meeting modern standards, but also notable for the changes. Yes it means they aren't quite like the originals, and they don't have fully modern ergonomics either due to trying to still be close enough to the same. They track well enough - they didn't over-upgrade the rolling stock, same upstop design even from what I can tell.

  • @Itsyaboyharry98
    @Itsyaboyharry98 2 года назад

    Mind Bender is honestly a shell of it's former self. The intensity is gone, the air time is gone, and you crawl through the second loop due to the trims being turned all the way up. Honestly would have been better to replace it with something newer of the same caliber, but knowing six flags they would end up replacing it with a free spin.

    • @ellexking9136
      @ellexking9136 2 года назад +1

      Yep!! Just like Revolution at Six Flags Magic Mountain. It's nothing but a shell from what it used to be. A 5 Train operation, the reason for the very large Train transfer track area, and no trim brakes before the loop and after the tunnel, which gave the ride experience a very powerful finish coming out of the final helix. The park could reconfigure the final brake run and add magnetic braking right as the Trains enter the main safety/holding brakes to reduce excessive wear and friction. And one more Train could be added to increase ride capacity.
