Hiking The Ireland Way with The Hiking Rev, Stage 3 - NW Cork Way, Millstreet to St. John’s Bridge
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 29 сен 2023
- This stage of the Ireland Way would be one of the shortest ones at 40.2 km or 25 miles. Leaving the Knockdrish B&B in Millstreet, where I stayed for the night, I crossed over the River Blackwater heading for the village of Dernagree.
I met a young man and his two children on my way to Newmarket who invited me to camp for the night in their field. After feeding me lunch and dinner and enjoying the equestrian skills of his daughter, I retired for the night. The next morning I headed for Lismire and eventually St. John's Bridge, concluding the third stage of my Ireland Way Thruhike.

What a beautiful country. And the Irish hospitality is wonderful to see. Loving this content Rev.
Thanks. I’m glad you’re enjoying it. 😁
I am from Appalachia in WV. The hospitality you are receiving is typical of rural Appalachia. You are hungry? We feed you. Need a place to stay? We provide one. It makes sense when you remember most of us are of Scotch and Irish descent.
That’s the truth, Charles.😁
Hi Rev fabulous video so nice to have met you delighted to see you are continuing on well along your trail. Hope you are keeping well. From Denis & Janette and family. Take Care.
Thank you guys. I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with you and your family. You treated me like a celebrity. Thanks for everything that you did to make my stay there, so enjoyable. 😁
I appreciate the time and effort you put into sharing your travels with us… beautifully done.
Thank you. I’m glad you enjoy it.😁
It's a long way to Tipperary. I'll just bet that went over most people's head. 😂 great video, great people. Thanks for sharing.
Perhaps I’ll sing it for them next time.😂
Rev I’m lovin Ireland! It’s a beautiful place! Matt 18:20 I am with you always, even to the end of the age. What a comfort knowing He is there with us. Got my snickers on and I’m ready!
Hey Brett. Yep. “When I’m by myself on the trail, I’m never alone.” 😁
another dimension in time. A bra loving the jams to
Thanks Bill. 😁
Love the videos and the Irish Hospitality !!! Thank you for sharing with us! Love your editing, music and all the behind the scenes stuff we take for granted!
Thank you. I’m glad you enjoyed it.😁
Another outstanding video; All the crew watching should nominate your content & channel for an academy award of some type! Maybe not an academy award but there's has to be some awards for this... Oh yeah [Mat 25:21 NKJV] 21 "His lord said to him, 'Well [done], good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.'
Thank you Mark. You’re very kind. 😁
A beautiful hike and camp in a yard with meals. Sounds nice. God is good 👍
Amen. Yes He is.😁
I continue to be amazed by the neon greens!
There are so many shades of green over there, Michael.😁
Best of luck on your travels Mr. O'Callaghan, I hope you capture many memories. Don't mind the rain, it's just painting the landscape 😊
Hey John. Thanks for the encouragement. That’s definitely the way you’ve got to look at it. 😁
So much kindness! You look just like the people there. I’m sure heard that a bunch.
Yeah. And it also helped having “Callaghan” as my last name. 😂 (Along with looking like a leprechaun).
Nice to se you again Mr.H.Rev❤
Thanks Adam. 😁
I see your flying a Durston tent on this journey!
I love my Z-Paks plex solo. But I love my Durston X-Mid Pro 1 more.😁
My maiden name is Carroll and they were from Tipperary! So beautiful there! I've been lucky enough to go there twice!
You were very lucky. I love Tipp Town. 😁
Absolutely gorgeous episode. This looks, sounds and feels simply stunning!
Thanks. 😁
Some rain gear is known as a slicker, so you are right. snickers will not keep you very dry, LOL.
After I said “Snickers,” I knew it didn’t sound right. 😁
Really beautiful countryside
Yes it is. 😁
Rev I love your videos....looking forward to the next one. 33 years ago in Aug my wife and I drove 1700 miles all over the Republic of Ireland. We stopped in Tipperary and ate at a very famous restaurant called the Brown Trout....I hope you get a good meal in the town
Thanks Patrick. I’ll be on the lookout for that restaurant.😁
Thanks Rev. Always enjoy your vids. And thanks for going to Ireland to show us some of it. :>)
You’re welcome Peter. Hope you enjoy the journey. 😁
Hi Rev Nice to see your journey is going well thanks for sharing . looking forward to the next instalment.

Thanks Patrick. I’m glad you enjoy them.😁
Looking good Young Man!! Thank you for sharing
You’re welcome Charles.😁
What crazy random happenstance to have another lovely family feed you! Gives me hope for the world. ❤ 🌎
Hey Reba. The Irish people are some of the kindest people that I’ve ever met in my entire life.😁
@TheHikingRev you could maybe check out the East Coast Trail in Newfoundland next. The people there are much the same from what I've seen of hiker videos, and from the folks from Newfoundland that I know 😊
May your journey be blessed
Thank you. 😁
Good afternoon, Rev. Is everything as green in Ireland as it looks on the video. Really beautiful. The family you were with was really neat. Enjoyed watching the riding lesson. Kinda cool. Seems like they adopted you as a temporary family member. What a blessing for you. Thanks for sharing your journey with us. Take care and stay safe.
Hey Judith. Everything is very green here in Ireland. Dennis and his family took very good care of me while I was there. They were the epitome of a trail angel family.😁
you live a good life
Thank you. 😁
Well said sir
Thanks. 😁
What a delightful and enriching hike you have had so far; the people are so hospitable and kind. I, too, prefer to hike alone, but I do have some friends I do longer distances with. It's a nice combination quiet and conversation. God bless you on your way!
Thank you Ruth. It has been a delightful and enriching hike so far.😁
What?! That great little convenience store/gas station with all the Ireland Way stamps is closed?😮
Hey Joyce. It was closed when I went through. Which was early in the morning. I don’t think it’s closed permanently.😁

Oh, phew!🙂
Love your open, upbeat approach to life. I agree..I also met the most friendly, helpful people on the Ireland Way! ♥️
Doggone, now I want a Snickers.
Yeah, advise us to bring carry some American candy
I sure would rather carry Snickers, then Slickers.😁
I’m pretty sure i would be too frightened to do the PCT thru hike (plus lack the stamina) but your hike In Ireland looks doable to someone like me. It looks so open, clean, scenic and safe there. My kind of hike!
It’s a pretty tough trail. But I think you could probably do it.😁
You would hope the trail gets more popular there will be more places to camp. The west highland way in Scotland is great for all, the places you can stay.
Hey John. The West Highland Way is definitely on my bucket list. 😁
@@TheHikingRev it should be on everyone's list. The best hike in the isles, can I also recommend Hadrians wall?
@@johnrodgers2018 I want to do that too. It’s too bad the idiot cut the tree down on the trail.😁
@@TheHikingRev yes, it's just so sad.
Onwaord!
Yes. 🏃🏼♂️
OK...I've gotta ask. You've stayed in several front yards of people. Where/how do you go p in the morning? I'm not even going to ask about #2.
I am actually not at all calling you rude for asking, I think that info should be the responsibility of the trail info provisions. (from Someone who has considered impulsively hiking the el Camino or the he💜art) {both are trails that also have urban, suburban, rural, and wildland effect}
I have a pee bottle that I use at night so I don’t have to get out of my tent. And for number two I wait till I get down the trail and “dig a cat hole.” 😁
Snickers: slickers+knickers
Just don’t eat your knickers. 😂
Some of the trails there appear to be barely recognizable as such. Are you following a GPS track on your phone or smartwatch?
Hey Daniel. It is not your typical trail. There is not a “ribbon of dirt.” A lot of the trail is on country roads and lanes. I use the Hiiker app on my phone.
