The lazy deserter is useful even in solo play, you touch it and drop your sanity. A blessing if you play with Maxwell or Wigfrid, characters who make you feel like insanity is a myth
As Maxwell you can easily go insane by crafting 4 shadow minions (you should always have some workers crafted anyway, unless you are fighting something big) and then holding a dark sword for a few seconds, you will quickly go insane that way. As for Wigfrid...yeah i can this working for her, even tho i'd probably preffer to just equip a dark sword+night armor for a while...
You can just spam wormholes too, but sometimes I just forget when I play with them and remember when I want to craft something and there is no nightmare fuel left and honestly DST is more fun thanks to the bosses.
You'll still have to go back for your stuff (in a potentialy dangerous area) while a life giving amulet lets you respawn right where you died and puts all enemies to sleep.
@@barteksalachna3388 No, the whole point is you could revive in a safe base, far away from whatever killed you. Also when playing alone, world resets if you don't revive in time, so ghost travel to an amulet is not optimal.

A Meat Effigy is 100 times better than a life giving amulet. A life giving amulet needs to be haunted to be used, so you have to float over to wherever you dropped it in real time in order to actually use it. If you get killed by monkeys, it's possible they will steal it off the ground before you can use it. Wearing it wastes a chest slot, and it's often not very common to be able to tell when you are going to die to just throw it on in the nick of time. Even if you have it in your inventory so it drops on your death, you might accidentally end up haunting one of your other items which can have obnoxious effects. If you set your world to have a time-limit as a ghost and are playing solo the entire session will end if you can't haunt an amulet in time. With the Meat Effigy, you can simply click on the picture that appears when you die and you'll immediately revive inside of it. Really surprised you didn't include this information. The only way a life-giving amulet is better is if you want to resurrect at that specific spot immediately, which is an understandable reason to prefer it...but the Meat Effigy is the best insurance you can get.

Also you forgot to mention a good solo use of the lazy deserter, its perfect for quickly going insane.
