    Props to you for doing all this manually, but you would need a much larger sample size is to give accurate frequency of the rarer setpieces. Another key thing about setpieces is that there is subcategories for setpiece types: points of interest, traps, protected resources, and boons. the first 4 are limited to 1 per world, but boons in a world is a random amount between 3 and 8 (inclusive). This means setpieces like a dev graveyard cannot exist if a rot trap also exists since they both are a trap, but you can have a dev graveyard and a hammer setpiece since one is a trap and the other is a point of interest. Additionally, you can theoretically have up to 8 walking canes in a world since they come from boons which allow duplicate instances of the setpiece to get picked. A full percentage breakdown of each specific setpiece would be too long to put in a comment, but the notable ones are as follows (based on Antonio32A's 5 million seed data):
    POINTS OF INTEREST
    skeleton_researchlab2 : 0.03% (shadow manipulator base)
    skeleton_researchlab3 : 0.03% (alchemy engine base)
    skeleton_miner_dirt : 7.14% (miner hat with treeguards)
    skeleton_miner : 14.26% (miner hat with pickaxe)
    skeleton_construction : 0.79% (hammer and supplies)
    skeleton_night_hunter : 0.78% (moggles and morning star)
    TRAPS
    Dev Graveyard : 5.60%
    Sleeping Spider : 19.62%
    Rotted Base : 19.59%
    Beefalo Farm : 19.60%
    Ice Hounds : 9.81%
    Fire Hounds : 9.79%
    PROTECTED RESOURCES
    leif_forest : 5.26% (treeguard forest)
    tenticle_reeds : 10.48% (reed trap)
    tallbird_rocks : 10.47% (tallfort)
    BOONS
    MiscBoon : 34.74% (additional 1/8 chance for cane, 1/8 chance for tophat, and 6/8 insulation item)
    Level4Boon : 5.37% (additiona 1/8 for either dark sword, panflute, hambat, marble suit, one man band, fire staff, ice staff, or cane)
    *these are the chances for a setpiece to get chosen to be placed into a world, however they can sometimes fail to find a spot entirely and will not exist despite being chosen. this often occurs with larger setpieces like queens gathering or treeguard forest. in reality, some of these are a bit more rare than the chances shown above

    • @-TheChosenOne
      @-TheChosenOne  14 часов назад +1

      Dude! This is actually amazing information! I imagine that finding all this out manually is nearly impossible but the reason I wanted to go down that route instead of looking at code for example is that DST world generation is notoriously buggy and I wanted to try to account for those mistakes too to make the tips more applicable in practicality (like you pointed out in your last paragraph). Even though the percentages might not be completely accurate with a 100 world sample size I hope you approve of the video at large! Maybe you even learnt something even though you are the seed guy. TY for the comment!

      @@-TheChosenOne I think it's great overall guide for newer or casual players, but a crucial thing you left out is the priority for the astral pieces buried on the main land, which act in a way similar to chester. If the ask 'Frogs and Bugs' exists (which you called the molehill biome), then there is a very high chance (have not tested enough to say its guarranteed) to have one alter piece spawn in that biome, and its not uncommon to even have both in that biome. Rooms (what you called sub biomes or mini biomes or setpieces sometimes) that have the tag for alter pieces to spawn have a priority ranked on their how immediate the biome's connection is to spawn (an idea that you explained in the video as close/middle/outer) where rooms with the alter tags that are 'close' have the highest odds of containing alter pieces. There's a workshop mod that visualizes all the rooms and task borders on the map: steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2845091102&searchtext=voronoi
      Another note: for sculpture setpieces, the setpiece itself is not guaranteed to have all 3 sculptures. Even the one the guaranteed one with the pickaxe can sometimes not have all 3 if it spawns too close to an edge. This unlucky circumstance is allowed to generate since the world only checks that 1 of each sculpture exists somewhere rather than exist at the same setpiece.

    A thing to add about the Drama Stage setpiece is that it has a chance to spawn the miner hat, a backpack and some other tools, so it's probably worth spending a minute gambling there in the early game

    Pretty good guide but still some missing numbers here and there.
    There are actually two Frog Pond biomes the one that you described as molehill is the bees and frogs biomeand the one without the molehill it's just a standard frog biome
    There is also an extra set piece in the swamp that is the Buffalo Hunter trap and it has a spear and a beef hat surrounded by a circle of tentacles
    Could have done a better job on describing the random cave biomes the there's a lot more to it than what was mentioned
    A thing about Splumonkies is that if you have a lot of them chasing you really should try to kill one because if you kill one they all run away and hide into their houses dropping everything that they had so it's actually probably pretty good to have some walls that you can bait monkeys in so that way you can instantly kill them probably good to have a dark sword with it because just about every character can two shots
    They also have a higher chance of following you if you have bananas on you.

    • @-TheChosenOne
      @-TheChosenOne  7 часов назад +1

      I see you POV but let me clear some things up!
      For the second point I totally mention this! At 24:50 I point out the ponds sub biome in the "Molehill" biome and at 25:44 the ponds sub biome in the "Ponds" biome. I am totally aware that there are two frog pond biomes and I 100% said that in these timestamps (although it might not have been clearly enough even with the big text). The reason I call the biomes "Molehill" and "Ponds" are to distinguish them from one another since their frog pond SUB BIOMES make them seem very similar to most players. The distinction is important because the "Molehill" biome has three aditional sub biomes (false forest, bee field and molehill) while the "Ponds" biome has no additional sub biomes. Their main biome also differs with the "Molehill" main biome being a grassland and the "Ponds" main biome being a false forest. I explain the differences between a biomes name, main biome and sub biome(s) at the beginning of the "Guaranteed Biomes"-chapter at 5:14.
      For the third point about the tentacle circle I totally mention that in the circle of text that appears at 49:52. I forgot to add that in the script and with how many people were waiting for this guide I concluded that I didn't have time to go change the script multiple times for every little detail I missed when I can just add that in text anyways. I also wanted to demonstrate it with a CIRCLE of text to put emphasis on the fact that the tentacles appear in a circle. Oh, and I also used that one as the actual footage at that timestamp!
      For the fourth point I skimmed over the random cave biomes quickly because there is LITERALLY 0 practical reason to ever visit them over other biomes. I mention some extra stuff in the data-cards too that I don't say since it would be too boring to watch me list all that stuff. If the viewer is interested, they can pause. I also do mention that they can't spawn behind the blue mushtree forest, and with text I explain that they can appear behind the other branch biomes. The only thing I missed was that they can rarely spawn connected to mossy biomes (which I did mention for the most obvious example being the mixed mushtree forest). I also mention and show everything you can find in them so unless there's some secret thing in the code that I missed I feel like I covered everything important (I also mention in the disclaimer that this guide is not based on the code but rather on world generation consistencies).
      As for the splumonkey thing, I have never seen anyone use walls to kill splumonkeys. I feel like I did WAY more that I even needed to in terms of keeping the player safe in the ruins so IMO mentioning a very niche strategy (that I've never even seen used) would have made the video more confusing. I also feel like keeping the monkeys off you to begin with is a more efficient way to deal with them than having to chase them time. I also even mentioned the problem of spoilage time on your blue mushroom. This is an exploration guide after all, not a ruins clear guide (so the focus is on exploration). Also, the banana point was something I didn't know about but at no point did I contradict that statement or encouraged the player to pick bananas.
      I also wanted to answer your first point of me missing some numbers here and there as the final point. The things you pointed out are stuff I actually DO mention/describe alternate solutions to. You could have pointed out some obvious things I DID get wrong like the Drama Stage being useless for survival (I recently learnt that you get items by performing there), or me not having posted the links and seeds in the description like I said I would (I'll get to that, it just reached character limit with all the music links). Salem (also a DST content creator, perhaps you've heard of him) posted an excellent comment relaying some numbers that were missing here and there with data to back them up. If you're gonna tell people that there's a lot more to cover on random cave biomes, please actually do mention that in the pinned comment I specifically made for things I've missed and relay WHAT was missing. You gotta understand that I'm just one guy that decided to make this for the good of the community, there might be cracks to point out, these points were not IMO.
      I still hearted your comment since I love to discuss things like this and I assume you come from a position of wanting to help out. Just remember to be constructive next time. The tip about the monkeys is good but I wouldn't say that it HAD TO be in the video.

    • @DVGMedia1
      @DVGMedia1 3 часа назад

      @@-TheChosenOne yeah it's all good discussion always helps do pinpoint on what is true. Now you need to go into a full discussion on every single room that exists in the game those are all the Sub sub biome that make up the entirety and they actually give the spawn points for things like certain rooms have the coding for set pieces as well as just like spawning random moles in certain places
      most of the things are correct unless klei changed them. they love to change things and I might just be wrong on my whole thought because I got so many old numbers in my head
      The Monkees though do still get a lot of hate that I don't think they deserve I think it's just that people don't know how to deal with them correctly since they do just run away they are also supposed to run away during earthquakes but I don't think they've implemented that in DST if they do that would be great because then you can trigger fake earthquakes with the pillow locator or wicker books or something but yeah bait them with a item and Dark Sword works wonders for most of the cast

    • @DVGMedia1
      @DVGMedia1 2 часа назад

      A guide to exploration though should still also follow the fact that not everyone is trying to rush and I know you are more of like the speedrun types and that you want to be able to identify where things are quickly. I'm more of a just interested in knowing things type of stuff I really wanted to try and make a similar thing as you did and I was generating hundreds of Worlds calculating each and every position of all the biomes but I just kind of like couldn't do it and I kind of just went very short on it you can't really great on the maths which is something I have trouble with sometimes so kudos

    • @DVGMedia1
      @DVGMedia1 2 часа назад

      I guess it is also the over editing which can be good or bad in some eyes cuz you got to match the flow of where the viewers are watching and that's just like a very blink and you miss type of information and if you're already making like an over hour long video might as well just be extremely thorough.

    • @-TheChosenOne
      @-TheChosenOne  13 часов назад +1

      Me? It totally depends on what I'm trying to do. I'm not a megabaser so you'll have to ask someone else for information on that. If I'm playing by myself for fun I usually base in the deciduous forest (either one) just because I think they're pretty. If they're in an awfully inconvenient location however I probably base close to the oasis desert for volt goat access but while trying to have quick access to as many biomes as possible. If you watched my DST without eating video I needed to base close to bees, so yeah, it depends on what I'm trying to do. All and all I think base location isn't as important as people make it out to be. As long as you don't base next to a meteor field or really far away from everything, I feel like you're fine (if you don't want to megabase).
      As for caves, I've never built a cave base actually. People are way to scared of summer wildfires IMO, I just keep an eyebrella on hand and an ice staff or luxury fan and go about things like it's autumn. I find no personal need for a cave base but I would recommend the muddy biome if you want to. There are so many light flowers there and it's really central. What more can you want!
