I love how you edited every instance of work to be instant as if you mine and hammer things with 1 hit. Also, love random Wigfrid main's bloodlust when you start killing beefalos and bishop for no reason at 18:00
An exploration guide would be AMAZING. I'm learning as I go and I think I'm getting better, but there still so much I don't know. Thanks for the video it was tons of fun!
yo! Just wanted to let you know that the Ultimate Exploration guide is FINALLY dropping today! The premiere starts in less than three hours, hope to catch you there!
Uncompromising mode reworked a lot of bosses, added a few more bosses and weather effects. Some features may sound annoying (like rats), but everything is configurable and you can disable it
This challenge is very unique and excitin. And i think its good ide that you post it in smaller eps. cuz they are more comfortable to watch and also make me happy when the next comes put. You deserv way more subs, keep up the good work, cheers
Thank you! I also thought that an episode based series was best to start out with especially because it would take me many weeks to edit the whole playthrough in one video, and I would have to compromize even more regarding what I explain about the strategies I use. The next episode will be out before Christmas!
Wow, that means a lot since that run was my main inspiration for this playthrough (check the description!). It's crazy that that was 3 years ago though!
First timer here. I have only good things to say. Very nice challenge, very serious video editing, you are knowledgeable, seem like a cool guy, eager to see more. You earned a sub man. Thank you
Thank you! I will try to keep my videos both entertaining, serious, funny and educational! Next video will probably be out early next year (I have been busy during the holidays!). Enjoy!
Hey man. Just wanna say that i've playing this game for 4 years now. I've watched a lot of great speedruns, (for me what you are doing IS a speed run). Period hahahahaha. After that being said, i think Don Giani would be proud, very proud of your content. Thanks for sharing this amazing experience in this run. Can't wait for the next epidoes! Do you have any plans of doing that kind of run with different characters?
Holy smokes those are some kind words! To answer your question, the next run will probably be with Wortox and it will have some different restrictions obviously that are hopefully gonna blow some peoples minds!
Great video, how about an uncompromising mode run with only wigfrid exclusive and veterans curse weapons and armors when this run is done? Also some other rules like perhaps no crockpot ? It's up to you, but i think it 'd be fun to do and to watch
Wigfrid exclusive is expensive and veterans curse items are strong, but aren't too reliable on their own, so the idea is, that you have to think what fight you pick or nor
This is actually a good video idea! I haven't actually played uncompromising mode yet so that will be a challenge in itself but the crockpot thing is also interesting. I have already thought of so many interesting DST challenge runs that I'm looking to do after the series as well as an exploration guide so I don't know yet when I will try this but I will definitely add it to the list and show your comment in that video when I get around to it!
I would definitely say she is harder. She has higher speed (both attack and movement), she has the ground pound that force you to use the ice staff or equivalent to kite her moving attack, she deals damage to you even if she misses (all be it way less), and she deals double damage. In my experience this kiting pattern is harder than the normal one so if you want the easier fight you could use the pan flute or equivalent to put her out of enrage. Fighting Enraged Dragonfly is something I do in the video for these reasons that (likely) won't apply to you; - I do it for entertainment since I'm making a video - I do it to showcase the fight and that it's possible and realistically possible - Defeating it is part of my personal rule set (for the video) as is the ban and personal distaste of the pan flute that I would have used to stop the enrage at that point in the game - ...and, I like a good challenge. It's fun! If none of these points (and none of your own) make you want to fight Enraged Dragonfly over normal Dragonfly then I would suggest using the pan flute to stop the Enrage since it makes the kiting easier. She doesn't drop any additional loot if she's enraged. I hope this helped. Enjoy!
@@-TheChosenOne The reason I ask this is because you miss an attack in normal form and seem to miss none when she's enraged. The problem with her kite is that she has a strange pattern, you have to retreat after 5-6 attacks, but if she hasn't swung an attack yet, she will do it while walking, which is a guaranteed hit. in rage, although she deals constant fire damage and hits more often, she has a more stable pattern of 3 attacks and retreats, and it seems that her attacks are easier to dodge( maybe it only look like :)
@@-TheChosenOne thank for advice, i don't have problem with her, i already walkthouh the game( now i try run, moon event on day 11 and i have some problem with time managment and some oriantation the things wich you don't show in the video... and also i have problem with animation attack cancel) But i want kite she more beter( no hit me at all x)
The best advice I have is to make a practice world where you can spawn in the items you need and rollback to before the fight to practice again until you get the strange pattern down. I didn't practice as much as I probably should have which is why I got hit. For animation canceling I also suggest you practice since it's mostly a timing thing. I find it easiest to switch items with right click rather than left click so try different strategies to find the best one for you. Also, I'm not really sure what you mean with management and orientation. I want to help you if I can so it would be good if you explained that again.
Sure i tried this in new map with some admin mode, spawn box to train and some boss and try to cancel attack when fight, but i cancel 20% of attack before they do any damage, that beter than was, but it still make my dps worst than if dont cancel attack animation :( @@-TheChosenOne oriantion i mean, how understand where things what i need(i know what staff in biom, but good question, where biom that u need, to get perfecr way for run, gold->pigs->bif->lifelogs->ruin). For example i see queen bee biom, how to undestand what biom will next, wich connect to it. I see some good tips from Jamy, beard777 and man with dino on avatar, but i can still lose a lot of time to found bifalo(depend on random, some time i can found on a day 1). Some time i just create a few words and open maps by console, just to understand how this staff genereted and what pattern they have. But i think maybe somebody alreadt explore this staff, and i just miss it.
Sorry you think so, there is a link to the raw footage in the description of every video where I show the rollback screen before I enter the world! Also, the day counter is the clock but I do understand you if you think that makes the speedrun invalid! That's why I put the word "Speedrunning" in quotation marks!
I'm now genuinely curious to know what qualifies as a speedrun and what doesn't (so I know if I should change the title and descripton or not because I will take your word for it since you're THE speedrunner). Do you say that because it's a 14h run, because it's split into multiple playing sessions, because I didn't follow some rule or any other reason? I definitely count in game time and not real time since I can't find the time to play 14 hours uninterrupted. Much love, this is a genuine question!
@@-TheChosenOne all those reasons also make this not a speedrun (except this being the 14th run, that doesn't matter), but simply put the fact that you limited yourself to not kill bosses for the first 20 days already contradicts the definition of a speedrun which is to complete a set objective as fast as you can
The reason for that rule was so I could show that AG isn't a requirement for ruins rushing and for Enraged Dargonfly to be the first boss (for educational and entertainment purposes respectively). This didn't come with any time loss from my perspective since everything I did in the video up to day 20 (apart from digging turf for the base which some other speedrunners do anyways) needed to be done anyways like moving marble pieces, rushing the ruins, farming volt goats, doing the moonstone event, going to the archives, gathering fossils, building some type of base and exploring the world. By not killing bosses in the first 20 days I was able to do all of this in autumn with only 30 seconds to spare (meaning I went as fast as I could and if this was a problem that would instead be a skill issue). Now I don't have to do any of these things in the future meaning I can focus soely on defeating bosses. The only thing think I could have improved on after evaluating the run afterwards would have been to fight SP on night 21 to finish the run 2-3 days faster since I'm time locked to kill Enraged Klaus in the second winter anyways (you will see exactly how it went down in the final episode). My original plan was even to kill Enraged Klaus in spring with morningstars but my run ended up being way faster than my planned route meaning I could start the fight 4 days before I planned to. Alternatively I could have started in winter to finish the run potentially 20 days earlier but that was something I hadn't planned for and I don't think that decides if this should be considered a speedrun or not! Point is that yes, I did end up going as fast as I could (since I don't think that the run being improvable makes that not true since nearly every speedrun is improvable). Don't Starve Together also has an amazing in-game time measurement system (in the day counter) so I didn't think that would be an issue at all. Many speedrunners evaluate their performance based on the day count like Cat Person or Spiky Shield who even put their day count in the video title. Jakeyosaurus aslo mentions the words "in-game time" at the end of his Celestial Champion speedrun. I can see that you might want to use the time measurement system of seconds and minutes if your run is like less than a day (like some of your speedruns) but if you have that for a run as long as this it just becomes confusing for people watching. In my mind, "Day 104" is way more telling than 13h, 49min and 12s! I hope that got my thoughts through even though I admit it can seem counter intuitive at first to put that restriction in. But if the reason that the run is split into multiple recordings (and I did put the RAW footage linked in the description and will update the playlist with each episode) is a real issue, I will gladly step down and change the word "Speedrun" to "Challenge Run" in the description and title. I would hate to label my first run incorrectly so thanks for bringing this to my attention!
It's just that their video titles say otherwise but I guess you think so because the categories don't exist on speedrun.com specifically. But you have also done that type of runs like Dfly + BQ for example! You might not think I'm a speedrunner but could this still be categorized as a speedrun and a challenge run (at the same time) or even an invalidated speedrun, and that in-game time doesn't change that fact since I did run as fast as I could? I just did it in an unconventional way to make the run stand out on RUclips by having a different route and to give me a chance to explain alternate methods of defeating bosses etc. I will explain any desicion I may have made during the run (in upcoming episodes), when they actually have impact so the viewers undestand my desicion making better and why I did or didn't do certain things, at a less confusing time than if I just explained my desicion and the impact they have on the run 50 days later. A good example from the video is the resting horror, whose drop doesn't matter until I do Pearl's quests. Hence why I don't explain all of Pearl's quests when I'm explaining what I do in the ruins. Instead, I just say that it will help later which will also create a satisfying callback, for the dedicated viewers who heppened to pay attention to that, in the next episode. I also went to check on their most impressive speedrun videos and I didn't find you commenting about this so I also wonder what makes it different here?
I believe in a public dislike button! By liking this comment you dislike the video.
Didn't even kill a single boss before winter in his "speedrun" smh. Dislike.
