- Subsoiling and drilling Cover Crop using a Fendt MT943 vario and a 6 meter wide Imants Subsoiler and Lemken Solitair 25 power harrow and drill combination, also with a working width of 6 meters.
Cover crops are plants that are planted to cover the soil rather than for the purpose of being harvested. Cover crops manage soil erosion, soil fertility and soil quality.

Man farming in the Netherlands is truly mesmerizing. The amount of tillage done just to sow some covercrops is remarkable
The tillage done here is partly down to having the opportunity to do so and with the view that it benefits production of crop following on from this cover crop.

Is there much direct drilling done in the Netherlands?
@@benpattinson1 From what I know, yes certain crops are drilled directly, such as grass pastures, Oil seed rape (Canola) and certain cover crop mixtures. Anything where the root is the part that is sold ploughing is desirable, mainly to establish a product that is pleasing to the eye, cos we buy veg with our eyes. I include potatoes here. Cereals can sometimes be sown direct as well.

Almost perfect, getting closer and closer to sensible management. Soil biodiversity is still being largely destroyed though. I'm still looking for mower to help chew up top plant residue / cower crop, Double shank (minimum disturbance) winged subsoiler, and planter that might inject rather than slit. This was still cool to see multiple implements on one pass though.
Cool video. I wonder how they farm the ends where the turn around, if they do at all. Got a video of that?
They drill the centre of the field first, then go around the whole field starting on the outside working inwards 3 or maybe 4 times until they have drilled it all.

Altijd leuke video's, maar alsjeblieft niet première, doe of public of unlisted.
Première is zo irritant, telkens weer blij nieuwe video is uit om vervolgens meteen teleurgesteld te worden omdat je het nog niet kan zien.

I wish I had….
Imagine using a pto harrow to sow a cover crop. Literally all you need is to broadcast it or just drill it no till. Add tillage radish and you can even skip the subsoil.
Outside of that, the video quality is great as always. The agronomy is a different matter. It just bothers me seeing excessive/unnecessary tillage.
