Great representation of the mgb. I bought mine 6 years ago and have daily driven it 60,000 miles, practical and reliable. It is classless as you say, I’ve driven mine in everything from a suite to a bath robe.
The working man's E Type. Superb cars.
I agree, the coupe is one of the best looking cars. The engine is set back behind the front wheels, making it a “front mid engine” - I think this substantially contributes to the good ride.
Now you have to redo the sprite/midget and but this time give it a drive.
Great analogy re the Honda NSX. I'm about to take delivery of a 67 GT I sold (last saw) in 1988 - 36 years ago. In Sandy Beige, she is still in fantastic condition.
Breifly had a roadster......i fact a week! I'd just sold my mk2 Triumph 2.5pi and needed a cheap car ....£80 ! Well it was 1974 but the insurance premium trebled and it was a much slower car so it had to go . Restored a number over the years and the GT is the most attractive of the models . Thanks Twin cam
People rave about the e type, but i think the mgbgt is better looking,i used to ignore them at shows, thinking they were like dog shit, everywhere, then i got one and realised just how great this simple car was
I thought the same, just a bit rubbish. Then I drove one and loved it and then bought one. Great car (has to be the GT with a Webasto though as it looks so much better)
A two seat Morris Oxford ! Harsh maybe . You can guess I was a Triumph fan at the time .
I think they look great - but look much nicer with wire wheels!
Weird to blame British sports car sales and innovation on Americans. MGB was up against 911, 240Z, Corvair [rear engine coupe, spyder, turbo], Corvette [IRS] Opel GT, etc. during its run.
