My personal theory is that when the ship he was ''purging'' during the 1st black crusade went to escape to the warp, That him and his sons were going after the bridge, and just as they reached it, the ship jumped, And with the warp shenanigans we all know, the ship will appear in the sol system soon™ with the custodes boarding the ship and finding Dorn looking like he just walked through litteral hell, Armor closer to scrap than usable armor, His last 10-20 Imperial fists in no better shape. And for Dorn and his Fists only minutes or hours passed since they entered the warp

Dorn is alive but his phone battery died.
He is on his way back to Terra now and always has been.
It's just his sense of direction is so bad he couldn't find is way around the Vengeful Spirit in time to save Sanguinius or the Emperor so he is probably on the other side of the galaxy.
He will make it in the end just in time to see humanity extinguished due to his slowness. Hence is name Dorn the nearly ready.

A thought just went through my head, what if Dorn was actually in cohoots with alpharius? What if alpharius was actually teaming up with him and they both had a plan in motion to protect the universe?
Dorn killing alpharius would erase any suspicion of collaboration in anyone's mind, and Dorn throwing his dead arm arround is the classic just bare minimmum to prettend his own death. Then you get yourself a pile of culrists to stage it, a couple marines with a spare armor around and TADA! Now Dorn can move freely, maybe even with the colaboration of some loyalist Alpha legion groups.

    • @andreasmagnussengriis6539
      @andreasmagnussengriis6539 4 года назад +5

The real Alpharius was killed by Rogass, Omegon confirms it. Omegon (acting as Alpharius) is supposedly killed by Guilliman but even the Ultramarines don't entirely believe this is true.
Actually no one in-universe believe this is true. The Inquisitor that found the after action report detailing the defeat of Alpharius at the hand of Guilliman was an Alpha Legion operative. That's said in the very same lore snippet describing the supposed killing.
The fact that such a lore snippet was included in a paragraph describing how the Alpha Legion was declared destroyed three times by the High Lords only to be found shortly after perfectly operational probably should suggest something, too.

    @tommy2showers319 4 года назад +1

Firstly Valrak, a correction: The Lion was and is the True Warmaster.
But onto why I’m writing this,
You could argue that Dorn is held in stasis by Trazyn the Infinite
(a giant of a man clad in baroque power armour).
However there is another RUclipsr, a guy called Baldermort, that has a better theory.
He had a three-part series (about 120 minutes), which in the supposes that Dorn is a Galahad archetype who is leading the remaining Loyalist Primarchs on a “Grail” quest to find a way to cure/save/restore the Emperor.
This is probably insane, and even though I’m a Dark Angel through and through
(if you cut me in half, you’d be able to read the legend: Loyalty is its own reward).
The thought of Dorn and his brothers searching , and purging together though the various realms of reality until one of them succeeds,
It just pleases me, would be such an ultimate move for the brothers to do.
    So yes, Dorn Lives.

Theoretical: the praetorian felt he had utterly failed the imperium and the emperor; stacked events of the battle of terra, the battle of the iron cage, traitors surviving and returning to attack, the loss of unity uming his loyal brothers made him feel he has failed all together. So he plans for a final stand against a black crusade but after being wounded and losing his hand, he either found a way to escape the battle unnoticed or was captured and thusly afterwards escape said capture.
Practical: rogal dorn is alive and in self imposed exile or in an unknown region of space away from imperial surveillance restarting anew, building a world, fortifying it, having tacos.

    - His confidence? After being spanked so hard, he's too scared to come out of hiding, just letting the Imperium waste away because he's too weak

Here's my theory on Dorn, take it as you wish. I totally subscribe to the idea that he's still alive for much the same reasoning Valrak, and your theory is sound. However, the flaw with your theory comes with the location of Dorn's disappearance, the Sword of Sacrilege. This was a Black Legion vessel that is still very much in combat operations to this day. My personal theory was that Dorn was captured by the shipmaster of the Sword of Sacrilege. In Battlefleet Gothic: Armada, the Sword of Sacrilege is a Despoiler-Class Battleship that is dedicated to the chaos god Tzeentch. This means that the fellows on board were powerful psykers, warp fuckery abounded everywhere, and everything was constantly changing. Here's my theory: the commander of the Sword of Sacrilege was most likely a potent chaos sorcerer, as he saw a literal demigod charging at his bridge, he said "Screw this!" and opened a warp portal to flee. As he was trying so desperately hard to get away from the angry, golden demigod, he didn't necessarily care where the warp portal opened up to. Dorn charges into said warp portal and there's an explosion of light and energy as the warp portal collapses (which looks like a normal explosion, and probably had some less than desirable effects on the bridge crew). Fists come in and clear the bridge, but see only a smoldering skeletal hand as all that remains of their Primarch, as that hand was on the other side of the warp portal before it collapsed. Fists think "Oh no! Daddy died!" take his hand back to Phalanx, and it becomes the relic we all know and love. However! Remember how I said the sorcerer probably didn't care where the portal opened up? Well Tzeentch is always a tricky fucker even with his own faithful, and probably did some douche move like dropping him on a daemon world inside the Eye of Terror, along with the Imperial Fists Primarch who promptly obliterated his face. Dorn would now be stuck in the Eye of Terror, right under the noses of the enemy, and most likely near the machinations of one of his traitor brothers. Thus Dorn would spend the next 10-ish millennia battling traitors throughout the Eye, doing great damage, but fated by the chaos gods to never quite reach his goal of escaping the Eye. Now, though, with the Great Rift going all over the bloody galaxy, and Perturabo's crusade of steel grinding through the Imperium, Dorn knows what he has to do, and his return is nigh.

Dorn was captured and now he will be convinced by Omegon to join their double cross, Rogal Dorn will fall to chaos. :^)

As far as "Dorn is alive" theories go, this one is not crap!
But it raises more questions than it answers. IF Dorn really was captured by Omegon, and is being held by him ... THEN WHERE THE FUCK IS OMEGON?
We know he did not go into the Eye of Terror like his brothers, some say he went to opposite way, out to the fringe of the galaxy. So what has he been doing for the last 10.000 years?
While I admit that cutting of Dorn's hands as revenge for his brother fits well, it does not really explain WHY he would then not kill him ... could it be that Omegon did not want to be alone any more?
Maybe he allowed Dorn to live and he took his revenge on him for a purpose?
Could he have been scheming and BUILDING something outside the Imperium for more than ten millennia?
Personally, I think Rogal Dorn returning out of nowhere would be a shock to the Imperium, even more so than having Robute Guilleman waking up from his stasis coma.
I would have him arrive with Ferrus Manus hand just for the hell of it! ;)

I like this idea. Maybe introduce Omegon as a loyalist, after Dorn (stubbornly) is able to coerce him to be a loyalist during his ten millenia long imprisonment. If he is imprisoned in the warp, then the time spent there might be a lot less. From then on it is Omegon x Dorn, rolling through warp with a small band of alpha legionaries infiltrating and fortifying the deamon planets. Could be cool to have a traitor turned loyalist primarch and how it affects the Imperium as a whole.

  • @RetailGamers

The thing about Curze is that his visions were only ever one version of the future. This is what Sanguinius was never able to teach him. Yes they could perceive future events before they happened, but the future could be changed. The thing with Curze is that he always went to such extraordinary lengths to make his visions come true, thus convincing himself that destiny could not be changed.

My character in Euro Truck Simulator 2 was named Rogal Dorn. He'd put on some weight and gone a little wild-eyed, but for a while there I really could believe he's just been driving a truck around France trying to make the best damn trucking outfit he could manage. You've ruined everything. Maybe I needed it. I think I'm going to be in the pain glove for a while.

The Alpha Legion has been, and always has been for the Emperor.
    "Victory... Is defeat?".
I say this as someone who's only getting started on the Horus Heresy and is barely 9 books in, but "Legion" being among them makes me agree with you that Dorn probably is being held by Omegon. However I believe that Dorn is instead being shown the truth, of why the Alpha Legion did what it did, and how Dorn doomed humanity. All the while holding him hostage for the killing of Alpharius, because now the Primarch of the Alpha Legion is incomplete.
*puts down tin foil cap* Obviously I've barely any notion of the lore as I'm new to 40k, I'm just spitballing here. Very much in the same way Valrak spitballs of Dorn's return.

To say the author confirmed it was Alpharius... they are all Spartacus, I mean Alpharius.

Rogal is Schrödinger's Primarch, some lore says that they found his body and encased it in amber.
Other lore says it waso nly his hand that was found.
As for Omegon capturing Dorn.. there is a problem with that.
If i recall correctly Omegon was supposedly killed by the Gulliman, and after the heresy, but before the first Black Crusade (where Rogal Dorn supposedly meet his end).
Omegon wouldn´t have been onboard that ship, as he was already dead at that point in time.
Abaddon MIGHT have been the one who captured him, if he was captured, but that doesn´t seem like Abaddon´s style, given what he did to Sigismund.
He would most likely have killed Dorn and left his body for the imperium to find as a warning.
As for his return well we have two ways for his return from the dead.
One is Yvraine she already brought Gulliman back and restored some Rubric Marines to life, so its possible Gulliman might persuade her to bring back Dorn, since they already have a none aggression pact and are friendly with one another.
The other is the spider himself Fabius Bile he already managed to clone Fulgrim twice, plus he have had some success in cloning Ferrus Manus.
If some of either in the Imperial Fist´s or one of the sub-chapters got desperate enough, there is a possibility that they will seek out Fabius and persuade him to make a perfect clone of Dorn and return him to the imperium.

I'm a Son of Corax and I believe Dorn is alive and kicking but just doing what he does best, like Space Marines have limbs blown or cut off yet they're still standing, so it makes no sense for a Primarch, a Son of the Emperor to die from losing a hand or any body part, they're literally made to be the embodiment of their chapter. So I see Dorn having a powerfist or a giant hammer for a hand.

Alternative theory: Just before Dorn would have died Trazyn the Infinite teleported in with a bunch of his soldiers, obliterated the chaos forces, and yoinked Dorn back to Solemnace to preserve him in a nice stasis diorama. If you want him back so bad us Necrons would be HAPPY to trade him to you in exchange for. . . I dunno, the Emperor's sword?

  • @NeoNaiche
    @NeoNaiche 4 года назад

In fairness... Rogal Dorn forged his will in the "Iron Cage," and regularly purged his own urges in the, "Pain Glove." Which is to say; Rogal Dorn spent his life preparing for a lifetime of torturous pain. As Deadpool made clear... 'the problem with unending pain, is: "where do you go from there?' " (yes, I'm paraphrasing...) So, in this theory, the only way Rogal Dorn could be "tortured," would be to have a torture of pleasure... Something he would never have allowed himself.
To which end; - There is no pain/suffering/sacrifice/defeat that could match his perceived failure at the hands of Horus' battle with the Emperor. To this end; The reason ROGAL DORN SHALL RETURN, is simply because there is no torture that Chaos can offer, beyond the self-defeat that he felt at his perceived failure to the Emperor. He likely regrets his decision to split the wall into "successor chapters," and may return to return the Last Wall into its glory. But in practical terms...
I'm not sure that GW will make as much money to bring back Dorn, as opposed to the Lion, the Wolf, or Sanguinius. (Yes, I know... but they'll do it) From a practical perspective; I want them to bring back Dorn, but I suspect that they'll bring back the others, and NOT Rogal Dorn...

If he were dead the traitors would have bragged about the achievement, just like they did when Sigismund was killed. Yet not a single traitor claimed the kill.
On Omegon: didn't he proactive countered his brothers' schemes during the Heresy? Granted Alpharius and Omegon were the closest but still he knew his brother could have been killed.
In any case assuming Dorn returns I wonder how he'll react to the current state of affair, plus of course the Primaris (after all Papa Smurf almost declared him a traitor while secretly building the Primaris)
