This is what a lifetime of musicality, virtuosity and lack of personal ego brings to a performance -- the wisdom to play for oneself and not worry about anything beyond the music! He brought something special whether it be heartfelt emotion or just the fun of being able to play with elan and virtuosity!
Going through these Cziffra recordings and clips is a revelation-a unique virtuoso, effortless keyboard mastery, but also many musically moving performances, especially this one of the Brahms rhapsody. Wonderful.
Despite his tragedies and hardships in his life, his face still radiates love and kindness. We will never forget you, Maestro of Maestros. Look a this smile at 3:45
Un homme et un musicien magnifique rempli d'amour qui joue du piano avec une grande intelligence. Merci pour ces vidéos, étant fan de Cziffra depuis gamin je ne les connaissais pas.
Brahms in one of his, "Why don't I have an orchestra handy?" moments. Fabulous and original performance by one of the greats of my youth. Viva Cziffra!
Not the version I like the most... But I love his attitude. It's like "hey, look, I'm playing this supernatural piece I just found, but is OK. No neurothism or weird faces and movements". He's really enjoying it.
@ReturnOfTheStienway: This is the contrary in my case ^^. I think Cziffra is probably the greatest pianist of all the recording history, but I really dislike this performance...
Not True! Cziffra was not the greatest! More colorful beautiful piano sound than Cziffra=Wilhelm Kempff Emil Gilels Radu Lupu Artur Rubinstein Vladimir Ashkenazy Grigory Sokolov! More genius than Cziffra=Sviatoslav Richter Solomon Cutner Grigory Sokolov Maurizio Pollini! More powerful louder than Cziffra=Mikhail Pletnev( Prokofiev piano concerto no 1 by Pletnev!) The Second Loudest was Lazar Berman! The 3rd Loudest was Erwin Nyiregyhazi!

Grandissimo Pianista. I love You Cziffra

I'm normally not a fan of Brahms. But when Cziffra plays it I am!!
Georges Cziffra last home recordings - Piano recital 1993

It's so cool!
It's truly amazing how they felt every note in the old school times- the things that is totally missing nowadays!

Hey, but their facial expressions are all dramatic now, and that's super important apparently. "Feeling!™"
It's only in my left ear!
@ionelpiano
Je suis d'accord avec vous.
Encore !!
Whew the Yamaha's hurting a little bit! Was that his personal piano? Def looks like someone's house...
Listen to Maria Yudina and Agnelle Bundervoet!
@Wyndorel: And I feel particularly close to Brahms's music...
@ionelpiano Pourquoi????!

Je trouve ça très mécanique...
