I think it's funny how Abel has such a big EGO, that he made everyone film scenes over because he wanted more Screen Time. UGH. The Show is about Lily's character, Jocelyn. She is The Idol. He's just a creepy Abuser in the Show.
The weeknd is the original reason I watched the idol tbh, I love the weeknd and I support his acting no matter how uncomfortable it makes y'all feel, the whole point of his character is to be mysterious and creepy.
I like josselyn’s story tbh and I like where Diane’s story’s going, but Tedros ruins everything, they could literally write him off the show and it would be a million times better
Completely agree! My issue is that he lacks the charisma or enigmatic quality to pull off a character that’s meant to be alluring/seductive to Jocelyn and also his followers. Hopefully the writing gets better and also less of the cringey dialogue please 😂
He is a cult leader, in interviews he said that he is supposed to be creppy and weird, not charming and seductive, he is the bad guy here not a prince charming…
@@vezon9436 yes he is, he is the leader of a cult. cult leaders are meant to be charismatic and alluring in order for them to recruit new people and be likable. especially in this case, where it has been implied the cult is sexual, the leader should have an undeniable seductive quality about them that makes everyone automatically want to please them. the weeknd doesnt have that. yes he is also supposed to be creepy but there's a balance that needs to be there and the writers and the weeknd have not achieved that.
@@danielac2232 then how does he manage to keep people following him? he HAS to be enticing in some way, and someone who's just weird and creepy won't ever manage to do that.
100% agreed. I was actually impressed with Lily’s performance and thought the show has potential after her breakdown scene. But it went downhill from the moment the weeknd entered her house 🙄 Like why does Jocelyn want him so much?? We know nothing about him other than he’s a “bad boy”, I don’t understand what makes her gravitate so much towards this guy.. like c’mon even if he was the hottest guy in the club, 3 minutes of conversation with him and anyone would cringe and stay tf away from him…
Agree! Watching the stress Jocelyn went through to film her music video coupled with the grief of her losing her mum had actual emotional weight and substance. But once tedros came in the show just became a creepy soft porno...I couldn't understand what his character adds to this show at all...I hope they weren't being serious when they said it's a messed up love story🤮
“He’s not supposed to be seductive he’s supposed to be creepy” that’s not the issue, the issue is that this man’s acting is terrible & unconvincing and his fans seem to be in denial of that. You can tell he was having a blast getting to see Lily naked and touching her 🤢 speaking of Lily, she’s truly carrying this show in terms of acting
I am pretty sure The Weeknd could see Lily naked or touch her without the show and if not, someone who looks just like her. I mean he dated Bella Hadid, lol.
@@sugarplum2467 Im pretty sure he can’t considering she’s in a relationship and he’s clearly a misogynist so who cares who he’s dated, Bella clearly dodged a bullet 😂
I've been on the Weeknd sub, they all seem to understand what Tedros is and how he's supposed to come across as slimy. Which he does. Abel is not a great actor, and you still kinda just see the Weeknd cause he's so iconic. That wouldn't be as much of an issue if Tedros wasn't a caricature of the things Abel describes in his music. I don't think Abel is a genuine misogynist tho, and I think part of the blame for how Tedros comes across falls on Sam Levinson.
@@aratrikaroy8284 that's the thing so many people have heard differing things this is supposed to be A critique, parody, satire, analysis, art, from a females perspective, no longer from a females perspective, provocative. To many contradicting things that it doesn't know what it is, and that comes across to the audience. My personal opinion it's being crime is being boring lol even tho they tries to sell it off as controversial, scandalous, provocative but it's just flat
@@aratrikaroy8284 it’s supposed to be satirical but where is the satire??? most of the times satire is done by over exaggerating and making fun of the topics they want to criticize while showing how bizarre that is. but they are just doing what they want to criticize and saying not to do it, while simultaneously part taking in it 😭😭😭
Everytime Tedros is on screen I get bored. Last episode waith Joss struggling during the video shooting was great. I wonder if that scene was in the original Amy Seimetz cut of the show? It feel so nuanced and focused on Joss' inner conflict that it can't be Levinson's doing. I feel that the sex scene of the second half it was a way to overcompensate all that "female energy" they tried to avoid so much
Ikr? Those scenes felt so real. I have never been in showbizz but I could relate to Jocelyn. The way something triggers you and you keep spiraling no matter how hard you’re trying to keep it together… wow. We don’t see moments like these portrayed this well on television often. The show really had potential. But all of this is being overlooked because of the nasty shock value nudity and sex and The Weeknd’s horrible two dimensional character
*As a major fan of his music* : Yes. His character makes the story predictable and significantly less interesting.. Jocelyn and her crew are far more interesting.
Can we talk about how amazing Lily was in the first half of the episode? I was kinda afraid she's only just a nepo baby with zero charisma or talent but damn, even though she has her parents from the industry, she was really convincing, I've felt her character's pain so much during the rehearsal scenes.
I’m just sad that her great performance is being overshadowed by the horrible dialogue and acting from The Weeknd. Yet again, a man stealing the spotlight from a woman in Hollywood 🤷🏻♀️ i guess that’s what’s we get from a team that wants to remove content garnered towards women from their show
@@nafcatt8863 Uh no? The only reason he took the spotlight is because he is such a bad character. Not so bad it's good, if you go on Twitter everyone is criticizing how his character was written. How it glorified SA and mental iIIness. If anything Lily's character really doesn't have a solid background to tee off of. All the mystery goes to Abel because his character is DISGUSTING
The Weeknd (Abel) isn't acting. His lack of acting is what affects the flow and depth of the show and storyline, in addition to the writing of the character he's playing. I think that's all the more terrifying. Abel isn't acting, so now his acting and reality bleed together all too easily now. Considering what we are watching from his character and honestly the whole show, it's disturbing. It's like he's not trying to be a character written into the show, but play himself. Considering he heavily played a role in making the show how disturbing it is now, red flag.
Ikr? Every time he’s on screen or speaks it’s jarring- like a horrid reality check. The moment I see him or hear him I keep thinking oh god The Weeknd is so bad at acting…. And totally am pulled out of this universe and its characters
Exactly he always wanted an image of mystery and sexuality that he built through his music over the years which I enjoyed but seeing him attempt to do this through acting isn't it. You can tell he thinks people are gonna make an edit of him when he acts lool
Do you know the guy to say he is playing himself? You people need to know your place. Your not his friend. He doesn't know you. Who are you to say that's his personality and he has never spoken a sentence to you
The Weeknd just doesn’t have any range in his acting. It’s the same note for every scene with minimal facial expression. The lines are delivered as if they are the same line. Meanwhile, there’s Lily-Rose who’s actually giving us a real character with dynamics.
The Weeknd cannot act. It's that simple. My soul dies whenever he comes on screen. I think I'm supposed to feel unsettled by him but instead I just find him cringeworthy. Also doesn't help that The Weeknd is ALSO a writer on the show.
It makes me yearn for the version of the show by the old director. It would be cool if someone leaked the script or the first 8 episodes that were shot before.
Original director Amy Seimetz was hired because of her background in directing female-driven projects that has raw depictions of sexuality and psychology.
Heard he got the old director fired coz he wanted more screen time and he brought Sam in. So it's his fault that his acting is terrible and he ruined our experience watching the show!
Yes. The first half was amazing. Lily's acting is so convincing. I totally felt goosebumps when Jocelyn started calling out for her mom. Gotta give lily the credit for that. She's amazing. But man the second half 🤡 tf was that. I seriously don't think the weeknd can act. He's trying way too hard and still didn't pull it off. All I'm looking forward to is Jocelyn's story. also the song that was played at the end 'Family'....i liked that song. It was good. Suzanna Son sounds angelic. Lana del rey vibes.
The weeknd is frustrating. Everytime he shows up, I smile as a fan but gradually pulled back to reality that his acting is screaming at me. He seems less of a threat with how often he shows up.
He just lacks of emotions. But anyway he is a singer, not an actor, so it's just good to "sell" the TV show more than expecting something from him. Lily Rose by the way, shows really amazing acting ability. It's just the hype so much I am a bit disappointed at how much this show exploit Lily Rose's body. It's really uneccesary, they should focus more to imrove on the bad writing (script) and storyline instead of exploiting someone's body.
i think we can ALL answer the title: YES. Very much so. And also, i feel like lily-rose's character would have more potential if they care to make her more likeable but we'll see about her
I also think it's also that the way Abel is acting as Tedros. You can still see Abel trying to act as a character, not just plainly see a character on screen who coincidentally looks like a celebrity irl. To me, it seems like Abel's acting as Tedros as if he's starring in a MV and not a TV series. Because in a MV, the content is shorter, and there are more shots filmed to help establish the story to fit in the limited timeframe of the MV. We never really noticed how lacking Abel's acting skills were because in some of his MV's, his face was rarely/barely seen for a long time enough for us to judge. Plus, if you like his music, that can also distract one to notice his lack of acting skills. Since The Idol is Abel's baby, obvi he is very attached to it. But it might have been better had they casted someone else (preferably someone with more acting skills, more charisma, and more on-screen chemistry with Lily-Rose Depp) to play Tedros. Cause even if the script is badly written, if the actors can deliver a good performance, people would still be watching it regardless (I mean, there are numerous CW shows with bad writing but have good actors on board that actually saved the show from cancellation for so long).
I think his weird acting could actually work in this part if the script is better. Lilly is just a really good actress so she can make cringe shit work. I think The Weeknd is ruining the show less on camera and more off camera because he fired Amy seimtz from The project. If he had just trusted her vision, she probably could've shown him in the "serious actor" light that he clearly wanted
The Weeknd ruined any potential this had. The fact that he’s not even the main character yet placed his name first in the credits and then had the second episode feature his music…. Nothing but narcissist vibes. The sexual themes are so unnecessary and do not drive the story as the plot is absent/week as hell. His vulgarities are unnecessary, the constant domination, the constant masturbation from other characters… he made this a porn show and I’m not saying that for dramatic effect. Every other scene contains excessive nudity, moaning, masturbation, sex, or teasing. It’s not “shocking”, it’s just cringe. Euphoria at least knew how to flesh out their characters. What do we know about Jocelyn? The same thing we knew in the first episode. She is recovering from a break down after the death of a parent. They’ve added nothing to her character. And The Weeknd’s acting is stiff and cold. Rachel Sennot is the saving grace with her subtle acting. She does a lot with her mouth (similar to brad pitts acting style) which somehow sells the authenticity of her acting. I just feel bad she was involved in this. LRD also has major potential had she been given proper direction and a script that doesn’t sound like it was written by a 13 year old or an AI bot. Yea, the dialogue is awful. “Mental illness is sexy,” said no one ever. “I like that he’s rapey,” said no woman ever.
idk how the director and the casting crew allowed the weeknd to be a lead in an HBO primetime slot tv show whilst having 0 acting experience. idek how he managed to convince them during the auditions that he was right for the role. They mistook being a good singer to being a good actor. This is an abomination to the HBO sunday primetime slot and they should either cancel this show completely or move it to another time apart from sunday night.
he never wanted to act as the lead role, he just wrote this character for others to play and sam levinson was the one who later on convinced him to act this character. go read the gq interview
@@sleeppparalysis he did act as the lead tho and the other creep didn't force him. he fired a competent director and replaced her with the guy sucking up to his 0 talent ass to get himself more screen time for gems like 'my fat tongue on your pussy'! And he's 'very proud of this project'! So don't try to act like this 75+ million dollar vanity project that he wrote, produced and scored, that was filmed in his home, around his schedule, inconveniencing everyone that had to come back an do the reshoots that HE WANTED, with the director of HIS CHOICE is not his responsability and HIS EPIC FAIL.
Abel's first written work outside of his music was an episode of American Dad he guest starred in. His writing was surprisingly in-line with the humor of the show but his performance was rather meh.
I think that's the entire point. The Weeknds character is a narc, he doesn't have any real talent or personality which is why he is a cult leader. He sucks the energy out of the talent around him, he places himself in a position of perceived power. He sources out broken people and makes himself their God. His character is sleazy, manipulative, and an overall bad vibe and you feel that through the screen. The line delivery has no soul or depth because Tedros doesn't, not at the core. That's kinda how I see it.
spoiler warning. It would be fine that it was camp if it was marketed as camp. It's not marketed as camp or as a personal passion project, it's marketed as a drama that can be consumed by most adult audiences and it takes itself very seriously despite having two clashing storylines. You can actually see where the original writing and directing remained, because it sticks out like a sore thumb in the midst of all the other insanity happening as a part of a genuine drama compared to the bizzare quality and humor of the other scenes. Not even saying dramas lack comedic relief, the issue is the original intent peeks out and it feels as if they didn't just rewrite it entirely because the female director's scenes were quite literally that good. I agree it would have been a shame to trash that genius, but if you intend to remove the female perspective and to create a more dreamy quality, they should have done that thoroughly and went all the way. Accept the show for what it is and what you wanted it to become, versus cutting corners and just adding choppy scenes in the original scenes that don't match the rest of the overall aesthetic to give an explanation about the Weeknd's screentime. Not seamlessly, either. It's jarring to watch because the natural flow is nonexistent. It's giving amateur independent film student's first screenplay where there's clearly a self-insert. Honestly, the Weeknd would have been better off pitching this as a trippy, dark softcore porn film made for fun with a star-studded cast. It would have been perfect and on brand, then. Coming from a person who doesn't really care about the hype or public opinion about this show, I watched it thoroughly to make my own decision about if I wanted to continue watching and it was actually excruciating to sit through a majority of those scenes. Lily and the team carries the show, Tedros needs more work. His cult feels extremely underdeveloped, and will continue to feel underdeveloped and like a cast of a dark wattpadd self-insert fan-fiction because the storyline lacks substance and relies too heavily on shock value. But the shock isn't even there, I'm not shocked to see a woman strip naked for no reason then run to play piano...naked. I'm not shocked to see Tedros aka The Weeknd backwards giving someone a bump of cocaine. I'm not shocked to see Tedross aka The Weeknd backwards direct Jocelyn on sexual acts in a very cringey manner while unnamed naked cult member stands in Jocelyn's dress and watches...... just because. I'm assuming she's supposed to be the unhinged one who will kill for Tedros, someone cashapp me if I'm right. Laying bets now. Surprise! The cult is murderous and drug-crazed! Surprise! They all fucked Tedros!
Completely agree with the cult being underdeveloped but if they do it right this show could be very unique the ending scene around the piano from episode 2 gave me chills it felt like an actual cult and joss assistant was on the outside looking in
Agree with you completely. The show is so directionless. In one scene they freak out about a selfie in another they have her dressed in something way more scandalous. Idk what it’s trying to tell. The Weeknd’s character and his whole cult just feels like fan fiction lmfao. Feels like The Weeknd rlly wanted to act like a bad boy cult leader and just shoved himself into the script. Either they should’ve stuck to the original concepts or completely started over with more of the cult dark sex vibes. Lmao he feels so out of place in the show right now. And the first few episodes are supposed to lay the ground work…
It's funny that Prince is referenced on the show. Movie critics also slammed Prince's acting skills in Purple Rain when it came out. Funny unintentional parallel?
In my opinion people are definitely allowing the controversy to guide their opinion of the show before really giving it a chance and are just riding the hate train to be cool and go with the masses instaed of having their own opinion, I think Lily is doing amazing she is carrying the show, also I liked the 2nd episode way more than the 1st it let you know where the show is going. Regarding TheWeeknd I also think people are wrong abouthis character, he is a cult leaders, in interviews he said that his character isn’t supposed to be sexy or charming, he is supposed, creepy, weird and dark like I don’t know why people don’t get this HE IS SUPPOSED TO MAKE YOU FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE…
There’s a difference between coming off creepy and weird. And acting creepy and weird. Weekend’s issue here is that he doesn’t have a lot of acting presence to bring out a convincing performance
Well I knew about the controversy and watched both episodes and drill think it lack depth/cringe writing along with soft core porn in what’s supposed to be a “drama” centered on a woman’s exploitation. People are allowed to have their own opinions, doesn’t mean we’re hating we just genuinely don’t like the direction. Also yes, the weeknd is a cult leader blah blah, he still sucks at acting 🤷🏽♀️
But if you are portraying a cult leader you have to have charisma, as a viewer I dont get why joss is so attracted to Tedros. A leader (even a cult one) has that capacity to be alluring, if he can't do that, how can he form a cult in the first place?
Cult Leaders are a "leader" for a reason, they usually are very interesting people who talks and makes everyone comfortable, that's how people get suck into it, if the person is a creep it's not a much of a secret, Keith Raniere had a sex cult and he was so manipulative and influential that Dalai Lama met him, he got celebrities into his cult (some of them still loyal to this day) so I don't know what The Weeknd really thought about while writing himself as a creep from the day 1, I would understand if we would've been shown his creepiness getting weirder and weirder as the show goes, but I feel like we already know what to expect, and I completely agree about Lily, this girl is giving everything, she is acting, she is convincing is to feel what she feels, that's powerful, I wish her story was the only plot, maybe the cult leader could be a later thing too, I hate when a show has 6 episodes and it all seems rushed, I also like Rachel, she is the most interesting character of Jos team, she's also doing a great job
I have my own opinion I don't care about what the "masses" are saying I formed that he is ruining the show cause he doesn't have that look or creep status at all . They should of chose soemone different point blank period
You know who will be perfect for Tedro role ? Tom Ellis from Lucifer. He is handsome and can charm you with his look. In Lucifer he speaking tend to allure to sex all the time, but he doesn’t feel cringe. You feel like you are being lure by the devil. Take that shit and just crank the evil to 11. Dammm straight you got yourselves Tedro.
Thank god. Thts d problem like i cant see why tedros is so enigmatic that people want to follow himmm and a girl who has men drooling over her cant get enough him.
Tedros is a two-faced, villanous characters. You get the vibe that he's controlling, selfish, self-centered, and always has ulterior motives. When it comes to causing a sense of "dread" in the viewers, i feel like WKND's acting lacks proper luster and careful demonstration of this skill. Instead it feels more off-putting and generally "cringy" to watch. It doesn't have enigmatic charisma towards the viewers- which further off-sets the viewers feelings because although he's alluring the main character- we're not feeling it at all. However, for a rookie actor- to be expected.
“Whenever we see The Weeknd, he’s making the same facial expression, speaking in the same tone of voice, and it’s all pretty bland.” You are describing his music career over the past 15 years. His acting on this show is comparatively animated.
The Weeknd in the Idol is creepy, but I think that's the point isn't it? Jocelyn is not well - it makes total sense she'd fall for someone like Tedros because she's in a vulnerable position & has major self esteem issues after her mom dying and her mental breakdown. Tedros is very affirming to Jocelyn and that's why she finds him appealing. I think he appears emotionless and weird now and as the show goes on, the true craziness of his character is going to come out. I don't think the audience is supposed to find him seductive at all.
I wouldn’t say he ruins it, but it’s kind of noticeable that his acting isn’t on the same level as his other cast members such as Lily-Rose, who are more solid in their ability. “Ruins” is a bit harsh and i don’t think I would say that. but his character definitely brings the quality of the show down overall. So…He makes it worse, but idk if i’d go as far to say he ruins it. Just my opinion i’m not trying to be a hater lol
I’m not trying to defend the weekend because I couldn’t really care less about him as a person or as an artist but I feel like people are allowing the controversy to guide their opinion of the show before really giving it a chance. I had not a single clue about any controversies before watching the first episode and I thought it was fine. Not great, not bad, but fine. Episode 2 was a little better and I’m interested to see where the story will go. It would make sense to me that the weekends acting isn’t the greatest seeing as he is a musician but I think Lily is doing a pretty great job so far.
I’m totally with you there all though I am kinda seeing this through the eyes of a Weeknd fan i can understand peoples feelings towards his character on the show and he does plan to be in more stuff hopefully the show gets better in quality and The Weeknd takes this show as a learning curve for himself if he continues to act

@dtthelowlifeoutcast6402 to each their own indeed. First episode is horrible and their acting is cringe. The weekend felt like a cartoon character. It's trying to be deep but it ain't. But to each their own
I think Weeknd was miscast, if they got an actor who was more charismatic and likable, the character would’ve been more compelling since we would not only buy why Jocelyn would be with him, but we as the audience could be conflicted in how we’re supposed to feel about him. He is clearly the villain, just not enough nuance there, dude feels like a cartoon.
I’m a huge Weeknd fan. Love his music. But this? This is horrible, I’m ashamed 😭 The episode was going so well, there was substance with Jocelyn’s breakdown scenes, but after finishing the episode I’m sad that Lily Rose Depp’s amazing performance is being overshadowed by the horrible dialogue and acting from The Weeknd. Yet again, a man stealing the spotlight from a woman in Hollywood 🤷🏻♀️ The potential of this show, potential of its female lead, all ruined by the dark twisted desires of men. i guess that’s what we get from a team that wants to remove content garnered towards women from their show
I love The Weeknd and his music, but the show and his character are poorly executed. The dialogue and his character are poorly written and his acting doesn't help either. He's a cinephile and his music is gold, so I thought it would be decent, but it was underwhelming. But I look forward to him learning from this and improving for the future.
don’t watch nor plan to watch this show but when i see all the hate watchers obsessively complaining about his character and him being cringe im like isn’t he a cult leader? have these mfers never seen shoko asahara jim jones li hongzhi etc? lmao since when have real cult leaders been cool good looking and normal? media illiteracy is truly kicking this generation’s ass💀 also ironic how ppl expect this suave charismatic man that only exist in hollywood bc irl it’s never about cool conmen fooling unsuspecting victims into their cults, it’s people in pain desperate for anything to cling to
no but how did the weeknd think that his fans would appreicate and celebrate his concerning participation in this show? like be so serious...no one asked for this
I don’t know how to feel about the Weekend though he makes sense within the context of a psycho because sometimes he comes across a bit off. Can’t tell if it’s bad acting or if he’s nailing it. However, my favorite actor in the show so far is Jane Adams playing Nikki Katz. Also, I’m enjoying the show? 🤷🏻♂️ I’m enjoying the exploitation of the pop star. Im enjoying all the awful characters 😂 The shoot rehearsal had me a bit anxious. I was all in for that part.
The Weeknd is more at fault than you'd initially think since he chose to scrap the show's original director who just so happened to be a woman and then brought Sam Levinson in to rewrite it his creepy way
For me, I just don't see why the characters are drawn to him. As a cult leader, you can be evil, but you should also have charisma that draw people in. I just don't get that so far. I think it's his performance, not necessarily the writing.
For me the problem is They’re making the show so edgy and provocative not in hopes of putting out a message but just to be edgy and provocative .The writing on the show in general is terrible, lily rose is good and her story plot could be interesting but they haven’t made me care for the characters. I feel for them but I wish they showed us events of people backstory
Dyanne and Jocelyn are carrying the show for me, Jocelyn because of her story and Dyanne for being the indiscovered villain that has a double side as her best friend, Jennie and Lily are both doing good but the show is disgusting tho.
The script, the poor acting, the dialogue. Everything is wrong with his character because it is not convincing anyone that a super star as Jocelyn would throw everything away for him. So yeah, it’s the typical male fantasy where a girl falls in love with him because well… he is a man and he is standing right there. No effort, no good looks, no charm. His only trait is that he is a man. Tedros is supposed to make us feel weak, vulnerable, protected, enchanted, attracted. But it’s so cringe
Lol, I really love this description. The weekend just can’t pull off this role because he’s not the Man. He’s not good looking or sexy enough. He needs to seduce not just Jocelyn but the audience. I don’t get it.
He’s goofy! Plain & simple. The audience isn’t buying what Tedros is selling. So it makes no sense that Jocelyn would. His vibe is off, his game is lame, his look is cringe.
i actually really like the show in general, but the weeknd's acting REALLY sucks. he cannot pull off the necessary nuance for this character. i don't think tedros' STORYLINE will bring anything down, it's just his acting
I think it's just too early to tell if the show is bad or not I usually give a show 5 episodes before saying its bad or I'm not interested in watching it.
I am not a huge fan of the weekend of levinson, but I think the show is not shit as most viewers think. Episode 3 made him more intimidating and I don't think he is supposed to be this super seductive silky don draper type. Cult leaders are not particularly model-looking perfect beings either. The fact that he has two "disciples" who are actually musically talented and totally enamored with him creates a very cultish feel to the guy. Maybe it's just me. I was expecting the show to be terrible, but so far, I think it's engaging and a hot mess that needs to be watched. The exploitation is concerning af but so far, I think saying it is problematic seems to energize levinson. Wish this would have been more focused on Josselyn, though. She has been pretty solid.
The weekend & Sam directing this ruined this show. Let’s be real… I want the original director to leak the footage … it was already 80% done… it’s still time for the weekend to hit her up and make it right😅

The sex scenes and “dirty talk” scenes are genuinely atrocious.. why did we need a 5 second shot of Jocelyn’s friend getting her shit beat in?
100% agreed. I was actually impressed with Lily’s performance and thought the show has potential after her breakdown scene. But it went downhill from the moment the weeknd entered her house 🙄 Like why does Jocelyn want him so much?? We know nothing about him other than he’s a “bad boy”, I don’t understand what makes her gravitate so much towards this guy.. like c’mon even if he was the hottest guy in the club, 3 minutes of conversation with him and anyone would cringe and stay tf away from him…
The weekend is not that sexy deep dark type of man at all it's like a awkwardly man trying to be sexy and dark lmaoooo and the rat tail a mess
Yet he is the one acting and making bank and you out here commenting to a unknown wannabe youtuber

Yes! When The Weeknd comes in it feels like the show turns into satire. Tedros character would be amazing if the show was parody.
The show is kind of supposed to be a satire of sorts...at least that's what I've heard

Everytime Tedros is on screen I get bored. Last episode waith Joss struggling during the video shooting was great. I wonder if that scene was in the original Amy Seimetz cut of the show? It feel so nuanced and focused on Joss' inner conflict that it can't be Levinson's doing. I feel that the sex scene of the second half it was a way to overcompensate all that "female energy" they tried to avoid so much
Oh shoot! That makes so much sense! If it’s true then it’s really embarrassing. I loved the video shooting scene.
Yes! She goes from dainty, to prideful to vulnerable in a wonderful way. Nepo baby as she is, the girl can act.
Yeah, she was definitely the best part of that second episode! Her performance was faultless during the breakdown scene!
I thought she was just a nepo baby throughout the 1st ep BUT damn, give her emmy for ep 2
I said the same thing. The Weeknd is playing The Weeknd. He doesn't really have charm as much as a name, drugs and a lot of money.
Just like his music.
I think the Weekend is writing his own lines 💀
ayo lmaoooooooo
😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂
I know he is, he is a co-writer!!
There's nothing mysterious about him, literally nothing, it makes no sense, the dude that her assistant is seeing is way more mysterious and sexy
@@carolitoffana right like he should have been the cult leader
He just lacks of emotions. But anyway he is a singer, not an actor, so it's just good to "sell" the TV show more than expecting something from him. Lily Rose by the way, shows really amazing acting ability. It's just the hype so much I am a bit disappointed at how much this show exploit Lily Rose's body. It's really uneccesary, they should focus more to imrove on the bad writing (script) and storyline instead of exploiting someone's body.
i think we can ALL answer the title: YES. Very much so.
And also, i feel like lily-rose's character would have more potential if they care to make her more likeable but we'll see about her
I've never thought much of him. Not even his music. But to each their own 😊
His music is top tier
his musics good
His music is amazing. But seeing him in this is putting me off hia music as well 🤢
I also think it's also that the way Abel is acting as Tedros.
I think The Weeknd is ruining the show less on camera and more off camera because he fired Amy seimtz from
The project. If he had just trusted her vision, she probably could've shown him in the "serious actor" light that he clearly wanted
I'd personally prefer him release some new music instead of his poor acting.
If The Weeknd didn't ruin the show as much as it was the writing, he also helped write the story so wouldn't that mean he still ruined the show?
The reason the club scene where Abel was using the mic is better than his others is because that’s something he does in real life. He’s used to that.
He should take some acting lessons, I am a huge fan of his music and Lily did a amazing job for the role.
😂❤ He co-wrote and produced the show. So he cast himself he prob thought this would start his acting career.
he never wanted to act as the lead role, he just wrote this character for others to play and sam levinson was the one who later on convinced him to act this character. go read the gq interview
We appreciate this channel. We hope to see more content like this.
U overthinking it. Stop being content with trash.
spoiler warning.
👏👏👏
And the first few episodes are supposed to lay the ground work…
Nah, I ain't reading all of that

I’ve been seeing some people say this is just weird erotic fanfic of The Weeknd’s career
It should’ve been a more experienced actor. But he’ll improve as time goes on
Yeah, definite room for improvement. I'm hoping that the more we learn about the character, the more we will see a different side to him!
“Whenever we see The Weeknd, he’s making the same facial expression, speaking in the same tone of voice, and it’s all pretty bland.”
You are describing his music career over the past 15 years. His acting on this show is comparatively animated.
Please continue roasting this show 👏
He's a character most won't get and highly important in the series. A representation of what's behind the music. Some music, that is.
His acting is pretty poor, and unfortunately so is jennies so the scene of them together was like nails on chalk.
Yes

I love The Weeknd and his music, but the show and his character are poorly executed. The dialogue and his character are poorly written and his acting doesn't help either. Isn't he one of the writers tho?
He reminds me of Jacopo from The Count of Monte Cristo lol
For me the problem is They’re making the show so edgy and provocative not in hopes of putting out a message but just to be edgy and provocative .The writing on the show in general is terrible, lily rose is good and her story plot could be interesting but they haven’t made me care for the characters. I feel for them but I wish they showed us events of people backstory
Dyanne and Jocelyn are carrying the show for me, Jocelyn because of her story and Dyanne for being the indiscovered villain that has a double side as her best friend, Jennie and Lily are both doing good but the show is disgusting tho.
Yes he is good. The Weeknd’s character is dope!
That's fair! Definite room for improvement. Hopefully it will come in the next few episodes!
He should stick to music, he isn't good in acting
I also felt to force the naked piano actress. Like...hey if you want to show your talent you need to be naked...
yeah, the hypocrisy in that scene is disgusting. and then weeknd rl tweeted her 'he loves her' - the guy is literal sleaze.
Is he trying to be Thomas from Black Swan movie?
He totally reminds me of him.
Yes, yes he does
I kept thinking if Pete Davidson was playing Tedros, everyone would probably love it.
i actually really like the show in general, but the weeknd's acting REALLY sucks. he cannot pull off the necessary nuance for this character. i don't think tedros' STORYLINE will bring anything down, it's just his acting
The answer is- Yes!
yes. don't even need to watch this video... already know the answer is YES. i will still watch though.... just sayin.... he is BAD 😭
His hair
There’s something off with The Weeknd eyes. Doesn’t seem like he knows how to act with his eyes.
One episode, just one. that's what you're reviewing.
I think it's just too early to tell if the show is bad or not I usually give a show 5 episodes before saying its bad or I'm not interested in watching it.
Sameeee ppl been hating on it since the first episode
Let’s be real… I want the original director to leak the footage … it was already 80% done… it’s still time for the weekend to hit her up and make it right😅
He can't act. That's the problem. You can tell that he is play acting. Nuff said.
yes.
Simple answer is yes.
That's fair!
I love Abel !! It’s his first acting gig !! Let’s see how it all plays out !
what….
@@luvvsoph1e what do you mean what ?
@@nellienell924 did you watch the show with your eyes closed? he’s the worst at acting and a major perv
Wait a minute, who created the show?
I feel like (shows topic aside) he’s suppose to be the most interesting character.. but he’s just a shit actor lol
Drake could've pulled it off given his acting background. Abel should stick to music
Yes. I don't even have to watch the vid, to answer this.
? but that Tyler Perry lacefront is distracting af
I don't feel he ruins it. He's been terrific imo
right? he's no eye candy and it's supposed to be this weird creepy cultish leader. so far, I'm intrigued
